I expect Maks to cheat/leave before Val.

Nicole seems to have had a variety of jobs, all centered around Maks and Val, then later the "fam" pros and some of their former partners. Remember her brief stint as a bathing suit designer, which was backed financially by Kirstie Alley? I think she and Val dated briefly when they were kids.

Yes, she's Mormon. I can't help but feel that Val did follow in his big brother's footsteps in settling for someone he had a relationship with that wasn't what he wanted, breaking it off, but then going back and settling when he wasn't able to find anyone else. I think as they saw members of their crew settling down and getting married (led by stylist/wedding planner to the stars, Nicole Volynets), they got desperate and took what they could get. Kind of makes me sad for both of them. Edit: Just as I finished typing this, GMA did a segment on the wedding with some "exclusive pictures." Again it was mentioned that Rumer Willis was there but as they said that, they showed a group shot of all the DWTS people who were there and no Rumer (but yes Alfonso was there! WTF?). I wonder if the media is mistaking Nikki Bella for Rumer because that's the third time it's been mentioned that Rumer was there but based on comments she's made on some of the IG pics that have been posted she clearly wasn't.

Did not like her dress at all. But nice to see they had former partners and co-stars there, unlike the brother whose footsteps he followed in.

It's on her IG page, posted January 17 (Maks birthday). Speaking of these two, the wedding seems to be fast approaching. Though they haven't been as publicity seeking as Maks and Peta were, I get the feeling this wedding will be even more of a spectacle.

This is very true but Maks's fan base in general was always the middle aged/older women. Back when he was at the height of his popularity and had his own devoted fan base instead of just Peta and Val's fans by association, it was mostly the older ladies who would travel around the country to see him perform (when he bothered to show up) or buy whatever oddball thing he was shilling (Dr. Tea anyone?). And yes, most of the Maksyl shippers did choose Meryl. I think because most of them were her fans who only watched DWTS because she was on and their loyalty was to her. But it's surprised me how many of Maks's own fans got fed up with him and basically wrote him off after that.

Those people were out of control but, to be fair, they were being egged on by Maks and Meryl. And when the season ended and the attention was drying up, they would stir it all up again. If Maks hadn't gotten desperate to have a kid and gone back and settled for Peta, I think they would still be doing it. The first season I remember running into serious shipping was Season 10 with the dual punch of Erin/Maks and Cheryl/Ochocinco. Personally, I think both of those couples really did have flings. But there's a huge difference between a fling and everlasting love outside the bubble of DWTS. The Maksyl fans had so little grip on reality that I don't think the real world even existed for them.

All shippers are not tweens. I'm amazed at how many grown women are full fledged shippers who appear to be living life vicariously through these dancers. Val (and by association Jenna) and Sharna have by far the craziest shippers IMO. Some of the stuff I've seen from those people scares me, and they're adults!

Rewriting history is a Chmerkovskiy trait unless, of course, you forget Maks dumped Peta and think they have the greatest love story ever written. That post by Jenna was something else, wasn't it? I was embarrassed for her. I mean, Maks went to India with his buddy Merv right after Season 18 ended and then he took a paid escort to Italy. And he was also briefly seeing some woman from that Alfalit charity he supports, making several "quiet but not so quiet" trips to Miami right up to the day he and Peta went public with being back together. Not to mention he spent most of the rest of the summer touring the U.S. with Karina. But we're supposed to believe he was pining away for Peta the whole time? LOL!

I don't think Maks was chasing Peta until after Season 18 ended and he won his stupid $20 mirrorball, but I never believed for a second that Meryl an Fedor had broken up and always believed they were together throughout the season. He just kept a low profile so she could play the showmance game.

Yes, the experts. Although sadly, I see a lot of the younger fans (mostly Peta, Val and Jenna's fans) eating up her words and twisting them into meaning they will pursue their relationship once Alan finishes with the tour. Remember the old days when the showmances/flings happened organically? Seems so long ago.........

I also have noticed Val and Jenna marketing themselves as a duo. You would think they would've learned from Maks and Peta that doesn't get you very far. But to be fair, Val and Jenna are the ones doing all the heavy lifting for DWM since Tony left. I don't think Maks even mentioned the opening of the studio in Atlanta, let alone bothered to fly in for it. And I don't think Peta has ever lifted a finger to do anything for DWM other than Sway, which was how she got her foot back in the door with Maks after he dumped her. I read that Jenna and Brandon are the dance captains for this tour. If I'm not mistaken, Jenna was the dance captain for the last tour too. I'm not sure how that all works, but Jenna and Brandon have the least seniority of everyone on tour.

What a great reason to have someone at your wedding. Only in Hollywood LOL

I think Emma is unfortunately expendable too and I think Peta is all but forgotten as anything more than an extension of Maks. They don't need them now that they have Val and Jenna. I don't think TPTB are that enamored of Jenna --- remember they were going to drop her a few seasons ago --- but between Val and Mandy Moore advocating for her, I agree she's got herself a place thanks to them. Not to mention all the Valenna fans, who make a ton of noise about them. Not really a reason to have someone at your wedding though. They're both really tight with Robin Roberts and are on GMA all the time and I didn't see her there. Nor, as I mentioned, any of Maks's partners, though he's supposedly still very close with Erin and Meryl.

The two things that stood out to me about that wedding were that not one of Maks's partners showed up and WTF was Candace Cameron Bure doing there? I don't know why they would end the show with Season 28. Why bring it back for one season and then end it? Just end it now if that's what they're going to do. I don't think anyone will tune in if they know it's coming back as one and done, because why get re-invested in a show you've already had to separate from? That being said, I've been saying all along they need to bring back original pros and mix them in with the current pros. I think THAT would go a long way to revitalizing the show. It's interesting though, that the US Weekly article mentioned Karina, Cheryl, Mark and Derek with no mention of Maks, who used to be part of that group of top tier pros. I think Sharna would be above Witney in the pecking order of current female pros. I think Sharna is a lot more popular than Witney and is probably the top female pro right now, despite her win.

Maks and Peta didn't have any of the pros there either. Other than Val, Tony and Sharna, who were all in the wedding, I think Alan was the only one who went.

Did any of the pros go to Julianne's other than Mark and Emma & Sasha?

Remember the old days when Maks used to let his studio, his NY fam and his LA roommates publicly rip the show and all the other contestants to shreds while he stood silently by? So passive aggressive.

It's funny, you used to always see Maks and Val's partners become part of the fam cult for awhile during and right after their season and then they'd fade away. Victoria seems to have grabbed on tight with both Sharna and Peta. This can't be repeated enough.

I know I sound like a broken record but I've always said once they go to once a year the end is imminent. People move on to other things and in this case there isn't a good feeling carrying over from last season.

I hope American Idol was worth it.
