I think GR actually did some good for people on Kitchen Nightmares, and that's the show that got canned? What's going on here is the definition of reality porn. I feel icky for watching it. No wonder Joy's departure wasn't trumped up in the ads as a shocking turn of events. The abuse they go through, and choosing these particular people in the first place, reflects very badly on the show. I wouldn't go apologize to my abuser either and yeah she threw away a "sure thing" but we don't know she knew that. From cheftestants' comments there is a lot more than we're seeing and when they lose they do hours of hard physical work on top of everything else, plus share a dorm room with everybody. Stress, stress, stress meant to break people for our reality tv enjoyment. I think it must be worse this year since we've seen Andi step in so many times, that's new this year. Hell, the producers probably have meetings on how far they can push them. I hear the show is very different in other countries but I have no way of accessing it without cable. I think Joy wanted to leave with a little dignity intact, good for her. Employees or even cheftestants aren't there for you to bully. I wonder if we'll see any change in GR in the remaining episodes because this is all on him. From what he said, after next week there will be a final two.

No recap this week? -
I can't completely blame her because HK is an insanely toxic environment.

Guy Wilson is going to be 29 in Nov and has no business being 21 year old Will. What were they thinking. His small features always make him look like he's standing in the back of the room. While it gives Sonny a welcomed chance to shine, I disagree that they have any kind of chemistry.

Cheeses I must have fallen asleep next to the campfire on a marshmallow and hotdog high and missed some comments. Hey, you can see Mars from here. I woke up to say that I think Nicole has also awakened and is clawing herself up to be where she belongs. I think she tried to do the Burning Bed or Charlize Theron thing suffering for her art, but it went too far. She's one of the best actresses here and she'll come back.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

I feel a little bit like saying na na na boo boo for taking the pile up over defending Sami as the lead of this show a while back. I will probably not watch when she's gone. The point is, though, see what great writing can do? And that's why Abby sucks because somebody with the nuance of a Jen Lilly would have nailed that role. That's just wrong. The entire square could see Nick shot but not this? -
I know what you mean because I recall sometime the other week somebody broke the halibut and slapped that thing on top but I don't know what it is either. There's so much more they could be showing us. I think I'd fall down if they put an actual recipe on the screen, for instance.

Not really relevant but I saw Marlena on a really old episode of the Twilight Zone. It was in color and it was one of those weird 2 min end pieces they used to do. She was standing in an elevator. I also saw Chloe on Two and a Half Men flipping through channels and she was playing a really vacant girlfriend. Go figure.

I blame Jack for not having a lawyer revisit that thing once he had kids, or once the kids were, like, 20. As much as I loved Jack he was a real jerk. Always pulling schemes and he completely deserted Jen more than once. I've been watching her since she was a teenager so I have a teeny tiny bit of understanding, but I'm sort of looking at her from the viewpoint that jfc (not that Jen would EVER say that especially in real life) Jack's stupid decisions are still messing me up. -
Yeah, just wow. I'm happy this blowup was kept a secret, though. In her defense they really work the hell out of those people. If they really had to lift, seed, roast the seeds, and cut up all that squash, omg. It's not like they're getting a day off ever. I'd crack too. They want them to lose it. I liked Melanie a lot today until they started showing too many of her stupid poses. Stan Lee: "That little girl isn't going to make it" Ha! Michelle is so far out of her element but I did enjoy her rabbit face. What stupid thing did she say, options confuse me or something like that? The chunk of thumb didn't bother me until they showed the close up then I gagged too. I'm sorry, but I tend to get distracted during this show as much as I like it. Can someone tell me what happened to set GR off on Joy exactly? And fuck you Jason you are such a manscreaming jerk all the time. Good lord, we're stuck with Scott or Melanie winning now??

It just sort of makes me sick she doesn't even need the money. Seeing as I'm about to lose my house. Wish I had a gran to give me one and several hundred thousand dollars and a job, let alone one I didn't even have to show up for. By the way Jen's hair is green. I hear she swims a lot. Can gran make sure the house has a pool please? -
Ugh, a list of animated gifs. Anyway, my French professor would tell you that it's not "meem" it's meme like "men" although my computer isn't set up to add the accent on the first e. I'd add "wa-la" to the list. It's voila (vwa-la). While I'm on a French rant crepes sounds like "get" not "grapes". But I don't expect Americans to change that up, I'm just looked at strangely when I pronounce it that way. What's even worse about flustrated is when a fourth syllable is added: flus-ter-ate-ed. And yes, conversate is cringeworthy. I've actually heard people say "we were conversating". There's also commentator when it should probably just be commenter, but apparently commentator is an actual word. Worst of all, imho is "I seen". But I think I've almost eliminated "a whole nother" out of my vocabulary LOL. Now, for "actually.".

I just came to see if the recap was up yet. But I'm going to have to defend Jessica just a little. It's not fair to compare her to the impeccable Haygood. (Can she be my grandma please?) Clearly she took JP aside about dating teenagers (I guess he gets bored with them by the time they're 26) but I think the producers put her up to the online dating stunt. Learning they have a child tells me there's even more reason to be overly dependent on the 15% or so attention JP gives her and it looks like some of it involves emotional cruelty. I see a young woman who's turned over her life to this jerk and is still emotionally 18. She may not even have finished high school. So, I see immaturity and not entitlement or brattiness. She was right about the house, apparently BW has an issue with smells? It's weird not to mention their child but I'm glad they didn't involve her in this hot mess. I'm confused about the role of the housekeeper though, who seems to do all of the mothering in the P house. Jessica said she has nothing to do with those two kids (at their mother's insistence?) so it must be a weird situation for the 3 kids to live together but be treated separately. So, let's say Jessica goes into the kitchen and mothers her own child but ignores the other two? They alluded a couple of times to stress in the household. There was a huge north vs south theme going on. I would be equally horrified to find myself in Branson with the over the top patriotism bullshit so I feel her pain. You have to understand that coming from the north her politics are probably very different. Not that BW would know, he never asked. BW's teary eyed confession about never having a childhood (where have I heard that before?) was touching but struck me as a pretty fine acting audition. -

Most of the over privileged fathers on this show don't eat in the same room with their children. That's the least of Piscopo's problems. If the hidden purpose of CWS is to call people like this out, that's brilliant. Barry can put his own damned guitar stand in the car. Cheeses. I loved Jessica for putting plants in the house. -

Did he say he met her when she was 20. Then later we find out it's been 8 years and she's 26? Then breaks up with her on TV? I was wondering who was going to outdouche whom. It looked like they were setting up BW then JP showed his colors at the end. That was just plain nasty, then after humiliating her saying "you love me" through the window. How very stupid to go back with him. But easy for me to say, looks like she devoted her entire adult life to that asshole. I've heard a few vague things about him in the past. I thought all the kids were just fine. Looks like BW has an awesome kid. I wonder where his mom is but not enough to look it up. The Piscopo kids didn't look nearly as spoiled as the ones who live in the baseball player's huge mansion. In fact, nice to see some realistic housing this time. I enjoyed the episode more than I thought I would. I have no clue who those actresses are next week. A real housewife and someone else, her face looked a little familiar. -
It's hilarious that nobody cares about Maggie/Mickey or Jug/Dulie. Maybe add Tom/Alice or Caroline/Shawn? Justin/Adrienne, although they wouldn't last long? I'm wondering if it might be ok to just eliminate some of the lesser couples because it would be fun to pit the old supercouples against the present ones. I should remember Tony/Renee but I know nothing about the others. Molly? Was she Kate's alien kid? I remember nothing about Stephanie/Jeremy or Mimi/Rex. Abigail's relationship with Cameron was a big nothingburger. Just thinking of ways to pare down the list. Oops, I've actually voted already haven't I. No problem with dividing up the list either.

Wait, PERSONAL ASSISTANTS? -
All those? Then we'd have to do everyone Dan/Chelsea and Dan/Kate too.

Eugene / Caliope Vivian/Victor Do Vivian/Ivan count? I wouldn't put it past those two.

Current Plots Discussion: Actually Today's Episode

Watching Thursday again because I can't sleep, there was a lot happening, and I saw it on the choppy NBC player (no commercials vs 20 min of commercials on Hulu. Opting for the Hulu.) Sami is amazing, she's even playing Hope! "Well, it's time to make your appearance, Hope" when she opens the door for her parents. And Hope and Rafe know it's a set up. I'm stunned by the interesting writing. I didn't expect the discovery of all of the evidence. Well worth watching a second time. Horrified if that's a KdP song. It would mean we're in for much more. I LOVE how Paige keeps moving KdP's hands off her. Do you notice how she always needs to grope the girl or wring her hands or hold a drink, or hands, hands, hands? Does anybody watch PBS cooking shows? Her voice is sing-song like the Jazzy Vegetarian, they could be sisters. Eve may be legally in the right but Jenn is correct that all she did was have one conversation with a lawyer. Good thing, because she got served on her son's graduation day. Of course she's not going to go out to eat with you, Eve, and screw you for making your daughter's face that unhappy and being sure she won't spend any time with JJ afterward and ruin both those kids' day. You're right, Paige, it was not fair to find out in front of JJ. And to make her think Theresa was involved with JJ "in every sense of the word" is cruel, and telling her not to trust her instincts. Maggie is intolerable. Did the writers realise they needed to show Vic restate his love because they know she is insufferable? I had to LOL when Eve called Maggie "Peggy". That's what it sounded like to me. Shut up Mar but I'd rather see you with Roman than Jawn. I actually understood Roman today. -

I realise it's a promo and it's out there, but I sort of feel like this was ruined for me (I skimmed once I was reading about the promo confrontation with Abby). Of course it's up to our group and mods to decide what needs to go in the spoiler thread but I thought I'd mention it. -

Oh goodness, I had to mute her several tantrums then was amused how the closed caption interpreted her words. HK had to replay her conversations with Melanie three times and I still don't know what she said when Melanie offered to walk the lobster tails. Still, it looked like she was responsible for the lobster tails, halibut and the chicken?

Jason is such a disgusting pig. I really heard the misogyny tonight and all the man screaming. And he won after burning the meat? Honestly, this show sucks on every level. I don't get why they want us to hate everyone. Melanie got a good edit tonight. Joy was a nonentity but stood by her sister, which isn't a great reason to stand by someone. I don't think I could watch another episode with Kashia. GR's disappointment with his final six made me laugh because few of them are outstanding in any way. You'd think they'd learn something after last season but I guess that's why the show is on in the summer.
