  1. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I reread the Harry Potter series recently and I find it very easy to disassociate the characters in the book from the actors except for Neville -- all through Book 1 I was like, "Don't worry, Nev, you'll be super hot soon." I also loved JK Rowling razzing him on that photo shoot (https://www.buzzfeed.com/elliewoodward/harry-potter-twitter-bants-ftw?utm_term=.bx0qgG8Ok#.jmQova8gm).
  2. I did not need that reminder right now....
  3. One point that bugged was when Jake took full responsibility for staying with Kevin because Holt was only in trouble because of him (Jake) -- which totally ignores that Rose was also in jail and got out because of the same deal.
  4. Oh my God, I love this show. I forgot Nic Cage was in Captain Corelli's Mandolin!!! Poor, poor Kevin!!!
  5. Almost fell off my chair laughing at Kevin's clapback.
  6. Oh, that deeply saddens me.
  7. Yeah, I had problems with some of the messages (and reading your critiques can't argue with any of them) but I still can't quite bring myself to hate this as much as I hate The Family Stone.
  8. The B99 YouTube channel has been pumping out videos -- I'm deeply in love with them all! Case in point:
  9. I think one atrocious comic book reboot is enough for anyone's resume.
  10. Then who is the "other white boy" Shuri was given to fix?
  11. At my local theatre conglomerate (one company runs pretty much all the first-run theatres) it's via headphones -- almost all screenings have "Closed Captioning / Descriptive Services" (CC/DS) available -- you'd never know if you weren't looking for it.
  12. He went through a rough patch in his late teens -- I've heard rumours that he was drunk on set for parts of Half-Blood Prince -- but he's really come out the other side. His appearances on Graham Norton are always a delight (although Graham can make almost anyone look good -- it take Wahlbergian levels of douchebaggery to look bad on that couch).
  13. I just wrote a long post detailing the overall insanity of the MCU timelines -- they can travel halfway around the world in like two hours it seems -- but my main point is that I'm pretty sure the newsclip T'Challa is watching at the beginning of the film, as they go to pick-up Nakia, says the UN bombing was a week ago. So the post-credits sequence must be significantly after the main events of this film. (I actually wondered where Bucky was and what would happen to him when Shuri fled and again when her lab was under attack in the final battle. Maybe she always had him stashed further away but I assume he was in cryo during this film.)
  14. There's now a podcast called The Daily Show with Trevor Noah: Ears Edition, which appears to be the show, just audio-only. It just launched this week, so far only Taylor Kitsch and Ludacris episodes are posted. I haven't listened yet -- I looked at today's episode with "conservatives question the legitimacy of Parkland survivors" in the description and was too demoralized by the world to actually listen. The legitimacy??? How fucking dare they.
  15. Roy Wood Jr. Roy Moore is a very different animal.
  16. Their wrongness is so multilayered. https://www.metro.us/entertainment/movies/chadwick-boseman-african-american-actors-overseas
  17. Yeah, and all the press he's been doing for it... Good God, has that always been his voice? Woo, excuse me, I need a drink.
  18. This. Honestly, I enjoyed it but wasn't as blown away as I wanted to be - although how it could possibly have lived up to my hype I don't know. But I also really want to watch it again because I know they took such time and effort with the world on every level that I couldn't even absorb it all. I did love a lot about it - including using a shoe as weapon as I've long felt that heels are an excellent weapon and I love turning what is clearly a strategic disadvantage into a strength. One thing that does bother me is that the whole inciting incident of Civil War was that Wakanda was on an outreach mission in Uganda - so hadn't T'Chaka already made the decision to join the world? Or just in a limited capacity?
  19. Allegedly it was a five-year gag order that ended last year -- remember that show "The Arrangement" that seemed a thinly veiled version of TomKat? Personally, I feel like Tom Cruise is a nice, perhaps not very bright, person who has been taken advantage of by a cult -- I kind of pity him. I understand that both he, personally, and Sea Org collectively have a lot of sway in the industry but they can't be so all powerful to force everyone to speak well of him. In his personal life he might be a dick but I have to believe that on set he is actually as nice as everyone says. I mean, Simon Pegg is friends with JJ Abrams -- it's not like Tom or S could torpedo his career wholesale if he went off script, right?
  20. An Olympic athlete who was a) watching Netflix until he passed out the night before his event; b) slept through his alarm clock; c) couldn't find his jacket and had to borrow one at the last minute; and d) yelled "Holy fuck!" when he saw his scores. Describe that Olympic athlete and no one is guessing he's a figure skater.
  21. Snowboarders are determined to live the stereotype.
