I enjoyed this A LOT. Exposition heavy, to be expected in a first episode. I was having fun playing SPOT THE MANSION as I have had the great fortune to visit the Newport mansions on may occasions! I am a total sucker for this era of NY history and cant wait to see more!!

Well my husband and I figure Del is done for. The DA made the comment about checking Grandma Badass' shotgun to see if it was fired. It was, so the next question has to be, where are all the pellets? Not in the corpses and not in the walls. Its coming back to Del. Grace is probably out of a job, but she will need to take care of Billy 24/7. Assuming the insurance pays off and Virgil decides to keep the money and let Grace off the hook for the arson. While I like the character of Isaac, I had a real problem believing he was supposed to be like 20. He looked 40.

The scene in When Harry Met Sally -- In a city of eight million people, you're bound to run into your ex-wife Except Brady should be 20. So why isn't he?? They could be pissed that he's having sex w his girlfriend in the house - perhaps COVID meant they had to come home from the dorms where they were used to having all the sex they wanted anytime. see how easy that is, writers?? and he would still be underage for legal use of recreational weed. And not eating (sweaters in the oven, Vogue instead if food) and drinking ALOT... honestly Carrie's done enough hard living to look rougher than she does. It was non-binary Howard Stern but less funny.

I have to respectfully disagree. I think they are and were both very exceptional people, extraordinarily intelligent, ambitious and accomplished, and that they feel in love as they were a great match based on that, I think Bills infidelities probably were and are heartbreaking for Hilary and that she stayed with him all these years because she loves him. If she didn't, she would have left him long ago, I think.

But... the whole series is about Harry....

Was Suzie's motive money? (Judith Light). Why did I think she was an operative for the anti-Clinton brigade? If anyone was using Paula for money, it was her husband. He said no to the settlement because Suzie convinced him there would be a better offer, no? Am I remembering it right? Paula did the whole thing to convince her dirtbag of a husband that she did NOT in fact consent to sex with Clinton....and he never ever actually believed her.

I read it more as - Starr was chasing him with this petty bullshit when there was some serious shit going down. BUT! It conforms to the narrative that he was basing his answers on the EXACT definition he was given, which presumably only inquired about BODY parts touching body parts. NOT about other-and-sundry objects used to arouse, The only time a mouth or a hand touched genitals, it was (supposedly) Monica touching Bill, not vice versa. Im willing to accept that the sexual gratification was pretty much a one way street for the most part.

This is how I understood it too. That the definition given to him indicated that a penis or vagina or breasts were touched in a specific manner INTENDED to give the recipient of the touching pleasure (or maybe even specifically an orgasm?) SO… Bill did stuff to Monica that didn’t fit the narrow definition (didn’t touch whatever with whatever, or wasn’t directly on the body part but through clothing, didn’t result in orgasm.. etc etc.. and that the only acts that DID for the bill were acts done TO him… for HIS pleasure. Therefore - he didn’t do those things with the motive to give her pleasure. So technically true while being totally disingenuous, LOL.

So I am going to duck after I say this BUT --- Betty Currie could have just told the truth. I'll show myself out.

I have thought that the producers have taken it VERY easy on Clinton. He is portrayed as actually caring about Monica. Of course, not enough to spare her the dangers of having a relationship with him, but he isn't treating her like a piece of ass either, I sincerely believe that he NEVER thought his philandering would bite him in the ass. Because 1. it hadn't before and 2. surely he is the most powerful man in the world and could dispatch of any unwanted attention and 3. he had always used his charisma and charm to talk anyone into anything. And I don't think Monica ever thought it would come out because he was the POTUS and surrounded by powerful people who would protect them both. Rumors? Sure but Eh, whatever, who cares. But actual disasterous consequences? I don't think either of them really thought that would come to pass. Sadly, Clinton kinda did weasel his way out, but Monica wasn't so lucky.

To me, this was a total -- "look what it has cost me to do the RIGHT THING" moment, as though she were the ethically upstanding whistleblower. If she were actually that person, she would've told Monica LONG ago to end the affair. She would have been a real friend and empowered her to walk away, to tell her the hard truths ("He's not going to leave his wife...what is the end game here?") Linda Tripp would never admit that her real motive IMO was revenge, She was pissed that she was dismissed form her WH job and she thought it would've been different if she had been attractive, so she decided to punish Bill Clinton. And one last thought... I don't think she was ugly - to my mind she was average looking. Her ugliness came across in her demeanor and facial expressions, and no amount of surgery is going to change that. I don't see her as any more attractive in the post-surgery and weight loss era. MEAN = UGLY

Meri went from one cult to another. I am very interested in the psychology of cults and I have heard and read that people who are in a cult and leave it are very susceptible to getting involved in another cult/high control group if they never get any "deprogramming" or trauma counselling. I have no doubt this is what happened to Meri. She doesn't want to see the film or do the homework, because then she will know for sure that HER personal success with LLR is on the backs of unsuspecting, good people who believed the hype and were victimized. Meri is likely at the top, with a huge downline, making good money. To acknowledge that she is exploiting other people would ruin her "girl boss" "living my why" #bullshit fantasy.

Its possible she had the teacher in LA when she was home and had another lover in Portland, I guess. I do think its interesting that the other man she IDed was also an authority figure. And also gross and smarmy. And from today's perspective, she was victim in that relationship as well. I would say that teacher groomed her for Clinton, TBH.
