For contrast, go rewatch the sex scenes in "Normal People." If Meri went on a retreat where she walked on hot coals - then she is deeper down the rabbit hole of cults than I thought. IMO, the whole polygamy culture is a cult, and as she moved away from that community that she got involved with MLM cults/cult-adjacent organizations. She is primed to be sucked into whatever the next NXIUM or whatever. She is a lost soul. I actually feel bad for her. Still don't like her, but i do feel bad.

we are all kinda assuming that robyn's worshipful adoration of kody is genuine. its possible that he's WAY more into her than she is into him and she wasn't counting on having him around 24/7, breathing down her neck and looking for intimacy every night. mayBe she thought she could get all that tlc money and a nice lifestyle whist being a part time wife. 25% of kody is plenty.

@GeeGolly while I agree husbands shouldn't have to be handled. there is an element of ones spouse knowing the best way to approach you with something difficult. I'm better with mu husband than his sister for example. She has a way with him that's often counterproductive. I suspect that in the Browns' family, the OG3 wives probably knew how to handle him as a group to some degree, but now w Robyn the Kody-whisperer, along with 25-30 years of having done it, they're just like F it. let her have him, I'm tired.

While I might agree that Robyn is more skilled at "handling" Kody - its just representative of why this whole concept of plural marriage in modern America is not feasible. We all want to be loved for who we are. Kody wants to be put on a pedestal where he is obeyed and no one talks shit about him EVER, but his affection and loyal are conditional on this. Which is a very long winded version of KEEP SWEET. The other women have left the compound but Robyn hasn't. As it stands, Robyn is succeeding with her approach, however I think she knows or suspects that with the others gone it may not work as well. She needs other wives to be compared to in order to keep Kody believing she's the best and to keep his focus off her shortcomings.

I think its code for "Be nice to Robyn." I am thinking back to when C put K on the spot about would they ever be intimate again and he told her is she was a "good sisterwife" which is VERY interesting in retrospect. He didn't say a good WIFE, he said SUSTERWIFE so I think it was code for "Be nice to Robyn." And ALL this is interesting vis a vis the troubles they had years ago when Meri was terrible to Janelle. Did K withhold sex from M back then? If not, why not? Are the rules different now then they were for Meri then? there have been some moments lately where J and C have had facial expressions hen talking to K that seemed to me like genuine puzzlement, like "who is this guy?" It really leads me to believe that R is the source of the dysfunction - she has created a monster and I do think the situation bay have gotten away from her. If a person has, say, eighteen children it would certainly be tough to remember every birthday. If only there was some technology that would fit maybe, I don't know? In your pocket? That you could carry around with you everywhere you go? Which might have this function where you can add important dates into it and it would-- hmmm,... just spitballing here...send you a little REMINDER? Like, on the day? And then when you get up in the morning there would be a little text to yourself - saying HEY ITS YOUR KID'S BIRTHDAY YA DOUCHECANOE! And look! Ok so its hard to keep the timeline clear as well as the crazy covid history - BUT, if this was late summer 2021, there was indeed an omicron wave, Our family had planned a big family trip for that time (Aug 21) , and when it was planned we didn't think we needed too many Covid precautions but by the time it rolled around, we did do some mitigation efforts (Didnt eat at restaurants, tested before going, wore masks in public. We had 2 babies coming, one who is a bot medically fragile, a pregnant person and a cancer survivor with us). I usually cant abide dubbing - this was done so well!! I was ALL ABOUT the costumes but had several times where I thought , that's way too modern. - The wedding gown sheer top w aplique lace was one - and the netted top she wore to the Maximillian Rave party. But wow what a feast for the eyes! The evil lass's maid's hairdos cracked me up. I want Season 2!!

This is an aspect of the fundie home school culture that I don't know if its a feature or a bug - like Michele went to a real school and therefore was KINDA able to teach her kids the basics, as she had professional instruction. However, you know there were holes - things she herself never understood and so she either taught them incorrectly or not at all. But these holes will get bigger with every generation -- they will get farther away from any real theory of education or access to someone who actually understands the material. I know people who homeschooled - but they are college educated themselves and also know where their personal weaknesses are and have made arrangements for help there - other teachers, on-line classes, etc. Jim Bob et al may think that education isnt important but I think the downplay how crucial their own organized education has been to help them succeed in their own businesses. How are the grandkids going to be business owners when/if they cant keep up enough to get a GED?

It's posts like this that make me worry about Joy's emotional health. I think her fears about her ability to parent are 100% related to her traumatic childhood.

There's definitely a mental health/resiliency difference between the two women. Christine just strikes me a more resilient and able to believe in the possibilities of the future. She believes that she can maker her life better, on her own. I don't think Meri has the self esteem or the resiliency to do it. She keeps trying to talk herself into it, on her social media. She tries to convince herself that she's #LIVINGHERWHY but I don't buy it for a second. IMO, she traded one cult for another in a desperate attempt to find a new community to belong to.
