  1. I missed that! I'll have to look at the stockings when I rewatch. I forgot about Aidy as the defense attorney. For those who didn't listen to the podcast, the hilarity of Aidy's voice work will be unappreciated, so I was kind of surprised -- but happy! -- that they included this joke.
  2. Yeah, I was imagining it being much better done by those guys. I wanted to like this, but the only thing that really worked for me was Aidy tackling the tree. Oh, and I liked the little bits of Beck being the guy trying to work and Taran doing an impression of the IT guy, but they could have been executed so much better. His mispronunciation of 'sedative' took the air out of the joke, which was a pretty good one. And I agree with you about them not letting jokes breathe. That jumped out in particular this time to me. I loved the Willie character. I hope he returns. "It's like my pastor always says – You can't sleep here, Willie!" "It's like they always say – You can forget about that dog, Willie!" I like Kat and Garth. I think Kristin and Fred trying to sing together is very funny, and I liked seeing them break. I didn't see Amy Adams' previous hosting gig, but did she participate more then? She did well in all her skits tonight, so I don't know why she wasn't more present. Loved the Cold Open. First, Taran's Sam Smith cracks me up. And then… Dr Evil! It really was fun seeing Mike Myers again. I wouldn't have minded listening to Amy just sing a straight Christmas song. I don't hate Kristin, but I didn't like the joke of her taking over. Loved Asian-American doll. Excellent. The video Christmas card was good. One of my favorite parts was Taran's face when the son barked. I also got a huge kick out of Kenan appearing and saying, "In my Christmas sweatpants." His delivery was hysterical. I listened to all of Serial, and that skit was perfect. They had everything down, plus it wasn't just an impression, but it had good jokes. I'm not a fan of Girlfriends Talk Show. Oh well. One line I did like was when Cecily says to Aidy, "Morgan, make a word." I thought A Very Cuban Christmas was awful. The only good part was when we see Beck as Fidel Castro. I loved the Magical Christmas sketch. Bobby and Kyle were really good. Loved their voices. The weirdness with the garbage was funny, then having it explained by their being raccoons was great. The cat sketch wasn't all that good. I wish they had left out the bits about Amy trying to feel up Kate. The cats were cute. I liked hearing them purr. I liked some of the cat puns, like catchuler. So, some good parts, some so so, some not so good.
  3. Off the top of my head, Joan Rivers. Also, Frank McCourt, Nora Ephron, Mike Wallace, George McGovern.
  4. Thank you! Oh, and wouldn't you know it. My DVR is already set to record it. Good boy.
  5. OMGosh! You're right. I can only assume they were both busy (or sick), otherwise I'm sure they would have participated.
  6. What's with Yahoo? My BIL is a right-winger, and from time to time he'll say how liberal Yahoo is.
  7. That was a nice article she wrote. I should have stopped there, but I started reading the comments. It's like a Bat signal went out to all the right-wingers to come shit on Colbert, the praise for him, and his fans.
  8. The giant sing-a-long was the best, though so many of the people not singing or obviously lip-syncing or singing some other words was sad to me. It was so impressive and wonderful to see the giant turnout. Then afterwards was even better. The pan around the set, the empty portrait, up to the roof, then Santa, Unicorn Lincoln, and Alex Trebek. Just perfect. BTW, I haven't seen any Captain America movies, but I felt like I was missing something when the audience laughed as the camera pans up to show the poster of Stephen as Capt America. On the minus side, I didn't think The Word was up to snuff.
  9. I cracked up when Chris Rock said, "My movie is very Korean-friendly."
  10. Alex was very good in that bit.
  11. I love that movie. I thought FJ was pretty easy tonight, esp with the quote in the clue referring to "them."
  12. I was thinking that the broken English of the messages from the hackers sounds fake. I was surprised that experts said the hacking came from North Korean. I'll have to click that link you provided.
  13. It's just a funny name.
  14. I was just wondering the same thing. However, there's the possibility that Sony will release the film via streaming services or VOD. When, I do not know.
  15. I love that Weight Watchers commercial! I haven't seen it on TV yet, but it's excellent. I also love the Salt-n-Pepa Geico commercial. Clever and funny.
  16. Oh man. That yard sale looked fantastic. I'm no where near NYC, but I wish I could have gone. I'm not sure what I would have picked up, but that White House Correspondents speech would have been incredible to have. It's my understanding there was a two-item limit. Makes sense because big fans would probably have bought dozens of items and left nothing for others. The man giving all his personal information to Stephen was so cute. I thought Stephen misspoke during the interview when he said something like, "I am no greater supporter of the troops than yours truly," which is comparing himself to himself. I can see "Stephen" saying something like that, but I think Stephen was trying to be serious, was intending to say he supported the troops as much as his guest.
  17. Andrew Hawkins. Talk about eloquent. Applause indeed.
  18. I haven't thought about the Bricklin in years! Ah, nostalgia. I got FJ at the last second. I believe I was thinking along the same line as the three contestants. Since the short story was called "The Man Who Was Never Born," I was trying to come up with an eponymous movie title (like The Third Man, Citizen Kane, and The Invisible Man). But It's A Wonderful Life suddenly came to me. I'm glad Kurt won. I love the story he told about his wife and the jar of things she loves about him.
  19. I, too, said The Invisible Man instead of The Wolf Man. I didn't really think it was right because I believe the clue said poison was involved, and I thought the Invisible Man had created the potion in his laboratory, so it wasn't poison. I guess The Running Man is kind of obscure, but it was easy for me.
  20. I like that commercial because I'm as impressed with the technology he's playing with as he is. Plus, here he's not quite Sheldon. Plus plus, I like Jim Parsons.
  21. I love when Stephen said, "TV! [clap clap] Talk!" I hope tomorrow has the new opening and name "The ColbDewar's Repewars." I'm not a fan of rap, but it seemed like that was a good song. I just wish I could understand the words.
  22. Isn't there some way to stop members of Congress from adding stuff to bills? I know that's a naive question, but it's so frustrating and infuriating when unrelated items are stuck in bills. They're nonsequitor bills. Grrr. Love Aasif. I'm not a 13-year-old boy, but I surprised myself by laughing out loud when he said the real problem was "the dangers of masturbating while driving." I don't know why that cracked me up so much. I should have paid more attention to the interview, but what I heard sounded kind of charming.
  23. Oh yes, I knew that. It's a porn movie. I just never thought about the whole story being edited out. I can't remember how/if it intersects with any of the other stories.
  24. I keep thinking the show was already renewed. I guess that's just my wishful thinking. This show is simply amazing.
  25. Me too. I figured "I" was for iodine, but that's as far as I got. So many TS's. So many of them surprising, like not knowing adrenal glands. I was also surprised that no one got nail polish -- like Alex said, Cutex was a big clue -- or answering machine. Josh sure had a lot of horrible wrong guesses. I'm not enamored of Rooks.
