  1. Very good article and I like how Alan brought up that it's based more on Kenya and Bow's marriage during the first year of the show. However, by then, the show was putting in so many long hours. Their kids were in their early teens and elementary school. So, yes the stress got to them, but even Kenya said it was building for a long time and everyone noticed. Here with Dre and Bow it is like zero to 100 with no build up. Even quoting how Charlie along with Dre and Bow's co-workers were played for laughs and never on anything. Now, it's all: "I hate you!"
  2. Oh yes, don't get me started on the twins still living together. Even Fuller House did talk that after DJ went off to college, Steph went back to the room so Michele could have her privacy since she was older. Here it is: "They are twins, BFFs forever, until they want to kill each other." Seriously, twins by the age of 7 want to start being in their own space. I have a few friends with twins both boys and girls and it lasted until 2nd grade before: "I love you, but keep your crap away from me." I mean, Dre has an entire three set closet dedicated to his shoes and even needs a step stool to get some most days. Why did they get that horrible kitchen remodel instead of adding a new room or having Zoey go: "You know, I think Diane can have my old room, it's not like Pops uses the pool house every day." But nah!
  3. How true and the fact that three of their 5 kids are far from finishing school: Twins (6 years), Baby D (17 years). Both lawyers would have a field day indeed. As for the men wearing tshirt and jeans. I know what you mean, but in Dre's case, it just didn't make sense. He knows when to dress for a situation and here it looked like: "I'm heading out to get a few things from the grocery store." Not: "Wow, my boy! Top of his class after all the crap he went through and all the crap I gave him!" Yep, Dre's wear and Bow's talk was just to push the envelope so after JR's speech, it all come crashing down. Plus, we had to see that HORRIBLE kitchen again. Seriously! Who's idea was that? Kenya or some upstart set designer?
  4. Exactly and having the the counselor point all the plot holes in everything doesn't solve anything. It just comes off as: "Duh... I'm a big giant man-child and I'm a control freak even though neither one of us were raised that way. So um... I have to go pee now, bye."
  5. Nesting really isn't that new, it's been around for years, it just turned into that terminology based what it is: "Taking up residence temporarily until a final solution is found." My wife's parents did the nesting thing back in the early 90s after a blow up that was years in the making. What lead to it was that her older siblings were out of the house and my wife was in high school. My father-in-law wanted to get his MBA and was accepted and the only way to pay for everyone was to sell his successful real estate business. As a result, he got an apartment outside of town, took up a grad student job to pay for the rent, got a scholarship for school and gave the rest of the money to my mother-in-law to keep the house paid for. It hit the family hard and neither one of them signed anything official for almost 3 years. Then my wife, father-in-law and sister-in-law all graduated a week apart from each other and the reunion made them realized they didn't want to live apart, my father-in-law got a really good job and that was the end of that. However, they talked, actually tried to be civil and since my wife and her siblings were all older they basically said: "You two have not killed each other in over 25 years and you want to split up now because: "It's been a rough couple of years." They made up and went from there. I had an aunt who did the same, but that ended with a divorce in less than a year. However, in those situations, everything had been building for years, with Dre and Bow it comes off as; "I don't want to talk to you because you are a big baby and don't see past your nose. So, nah nah!"
  6. That was perfectly proven when they were picking Jack up after his "stinking leg" situation at school. How Bow yelled at Dre needed to be the "fun dad" and he tells her he has too because she is too serious all the time. I wanted to go: "Since when?" Bow has her moments, but how many times has she tried to be the "fun mom" and Dre has had to be serious. For a couple of 20 years and 5 kids, they act like they have only been married a few years and make decisions based on: "I don't want to be that poor kid who grew up in the hood." and "I'm top of my class, but gave up my job because I was told to." These are not the same people that Junior talked about in his speech. They are being like 11 year olds who can't share the poster board.
  7. Another cliche they went with this show, the father doesn't get his teen age daughter and can't relate. Just like we have established during the start of the series, Martin is so oblivious, his son could get his hand hurt by falling. Martin would be: "Stand up for yourself!" Son: "Dad, I tripped in that sink hole you told mom you fixed." Martin: "I don't know how to do that, let's go play Nintendo Switch and forget this happened."
  8. If that's true, wow! Talk about teleplaying.
  9. Wow. The doctor pointed out everything that didn't make sense about the entire show. Nice job writers, doesn't mean it's ok, even if you do admit it on the show. That isn't saving face that is: "We talked Ellen DeGenrus in giving us money to make it, aren't we awesome!"
  10. Ok, so what the hell was Dre wearing at his son's graduation? I mean, for all his shows and looking good for big events, and that's how he dressed? I do agree that Bow should have explained that she HAD to go back to work because of money. However, Dre came off looking like: "I made you quit your job because I'm the man who makes the money and now you say we don't have it!" Mrs. Readster said herself, she isn't watching the show until it gets over trying to be Story of Us. She wants to laugh. I do believe the entire cast has done amazing acting, but really, this isn't Black-ish, this is: "We tried baby 5, didn't work, so we had Bow be the stay at home mom, and that didn't work. So, um... divorce!"
  11. Drew puts it plainly: "She is an actor doing her job, hate the relationship all you want, but stop out right attacking someone just doing their job." Amazing how people think they are one in the same. Like how you hate a weatherman, when they are: "forecasting" the weather. Meaning they go by models, mathematics, ect to try and predict the weather, but they can't always figure out wind fronts changing on a dime or something, but hey it must be their fault. Reminds me on The Middle when Brick was so angry they were making a Planet Nowhere movie that nothing to deal with the book. What's he do? Tries to destroy and take things from the movie theatre, because he thinks the movie theatre has anything to do with it. That's an example of a short sighted view.
  12. Which would have made much more sense in the long run. Having Baby D not doing the milestones because he was pre-mature. I could get behind, but they just brought it up as the kick off for this. There has been no talk or anything having to do with Baby D unless the "plot" demanded it from a joke to showing how out of touch both Dre, Ruby and Bow are at this stage in their lives with a new born. However, its: "Everyone is saying the baby isn't doing things yet, Dre gets worried and everyone is telling him he needs to fix things." When he is in no shape or form an expert. People who suggest that aren't experts and the one who is, decides she is going to stay quiet about it because she knew Dre would react to it badly. Now, we get all this crap from date nights to horrible kitchen remodels. Bow needing to be a "stay at home mom" when she doesn't do anything, but hey no lost of cash there, right? Because Dre has to be the MAN. I see it more than Kenya and the writers had the spin off for Zoey in the bag, knew she was going to be leaving the show and figured this would make it so everyone had stuff to do. Instead of going: "Wait, this always makes shows backfire, has for almost 30 years unless it's a natural thing, maybe we should do it." The acting is fine, but it's plot directing characters and not characters driving plot. Especially given who the characters are the last few years and how much they have driven those points in several story lines. Now, we are just to ignore all of this because you know, Drama!
  13. It's been established since season 1 that Dre just buys the designer shoes because he can. He wares the ones he wants to on those specific days, but it's been shown he just loves the fact he can buy them and then put them in his "special shoe closet". He probably has enough in shoes that could pay off two cars.
  14. Those are all the holes you could drive three Triple T tanks through. None of it makes sense, all of a sudden their finances, which have been talked about since day 1 are not a problem what's so ever. If they do split Dre and Bow up, how is any of them going to afford the house all by themselves? I would laugh if Dre is all of a sudden back in the apartment he grew up with and how he constantly hated and why he went White Collar, because he didn't want to have that life again, but he has to be a MAN remember?
  15. Right and despite how much they made Vanessa an airhead over the course of the series. It would not be easy to write her out for any of the given reasons. Ed, there are many ways from retirement to even death.
  16. I like: "Martin and Lena’s marriage is far less interesting than their individual struggles to figure out why it failed." Well Martin as they said is a man-child who is oblivious and you want to punch him. Lena is a micromanaging, but don't say what is really bothering you because they should know why. What we see are two couples who after some extremely stupid decisions since the day they got married let everything just fall apart. Then one thinks some super romantic gesture will fix everything and the other is too busy being super mom instead of just going: "What the hell is wrong with you? Why didn't you want to see me naked for 2 years?"
  17. Ah, great to have the show back. Just wish they had announced that the show was switching to Disney Channel full time. The mystery of Della deepens, so the "Spear of Selene" is a treasure, not an item from the greek gods. I was cracking up at Storkaleese and how Scourge, Donald and Della made Zeus's life so bad because he got out shined.
  18. That's what even critics have said. For two people who apparently just keeping their heads above water, they seem to spend money on things when they complained that they don't have enough money and couldn't move out because they couldn't afford to and the house being "under water". Hudson would have been less of a moron and pay attention the last 2 years, he wouldn't be in his current situation. Plus, those lessons probably cost a first month's rent right htere.
  19. The problem is, Bow doesn't really do the "Donna Reed" thing at all. When she "quit" she was completely oblivious about being at home with the kids all the time. In fact, Junior corrected her on grocery buying, timing, pick up time, ect. Then she met the "stay at home moms" who she had made fun of the last four years and its: "OMG, I love YOGA and doing nothing all day when the kids aren't at home!" Plus, they hired Erica (Black Nanny 2... I hate that damn name). Then they barely show Baby D, so, what the hell was the point of her quitting? OH because Dre had to be the man of the house and because Baby D needed someone there all the time. Then what pushes them apart is because they can talk about Baby D not walking yet or other things, so why the hell did they hire Erica in the first place? Oh so we could have a racial joke for an episode? Bow being the stay at home mom just doesn't work and after spending that money for a crappy kitchen redesign, where neither parent really does much with the kitchen except for Ruby. Why did she quit again or take a leave again?
  20. Plus, they did FIN for the last scene, how cliche.
  21. Oh no, why do that? That's like a shooter ransacking a hospital and shooting and killing people left and right. SWAT's job is to just injure them to arrest them, instead of killing them on sight. So, why would there be any PD on the scene because you know Officer Ryan it was his day off. He's the only cop in the area.
  22. Why would Dre do that? He's a typical guy on an ABC show. He doesn't know anything, but to order expensive shoes, make power points and constantly defend his co-workers who treat him like a nobody all the time. Also, Bow would spend no time at all kicking Ruby out in a second. She be fine with Pops, but Ruby, she be kicked out in no time flat.
  23. Oh no kidding, I worked in health care for almost 5 years and I have relatives who served as firefighters both in small and large cities. They just laugh at how bad things are portrayed on this show. Really, that small of a piece of aluminum would have been Jaws of Life and cut her out in like 3 minutes. I also like to know how everyone was thrown out of that party bus like that. It was like how the family on Grey's a few years ago was thrown out of their car in a nice neat line up. I also like how they picked up wedding ring guy and there wasn't one cop around to write out a ticket or do a report. You just don't get in a car accident and the FD paramedics just take you away like that. There would have been a statement and everything. Also, good to know that Andy is following many other women on TV having sex. Have your bra on the entire time, while your lover is obviously completely naked and they are suppose to just be missing underware while they are on top of them. Because so many people would bother getting into bed for sex and just leave their bra on and then be: "Ok, off to work I go." Yeah, they be doing a quickie and then moving on. I get it is TV, but come on. They could have always done a back shot of Andy looking like she had no top on and then just a few camera angles. But oh no, remember, Andy is in charge, so she has to be on top.
  24. I have to agree with that, her hair has looked horrible over the last 5 episodes. Seriously, both Phil and Luke thought to fly the drone in the house when 3 years ago, they were trying to destroy their neighbor who was spying on the girls in the backyard? Plus, Phil used a hair dryer on heat and not cool to dry glue?
  25. I don't know if anyone noticed, but one of the books in Alex's mom's office was Flashpoint and Alex did the voice of Barry Allen a.k.a The Flash in the animated adaption of the Flashpoint Story line from DC Comics. I really did enjoy their story and even Alex saying now his mother is functioning years after all the crap happened, now she finds "normal". Which is true, Alex's anger and issues started with his father and then after he was gone had it all go to hell again with his mother being schizophrenic, which his brother inherited too. It is known that some people when they get older, medication and brain chemistry changes, so people become more functioning or able to be more regular. I thought Lindsey Wagner looked great. The one thing with Roy's story now and having it where Miranda had to apologize. No, Richard was pissed off, Richard fired him, Richard was in charge of the interns, Baily just agreed with him. So, now Richard is: "Just apologize, even though I fired him." What? Oh look, Arizona does have only one leg again and they explain her skating thing and why she got so pissed off an ruined her marriage with Callie.
