  1. For once, I'm very happy with the coverage because I'm on the West Coast and it's right in our prime time. We are usually the ones that get the sucky coverage during the Olympics (and many other sports programming).
  2. Did you see the special piece that NBC ran yesterday about Katarina Gordeva? The death of Sergei in '95, and their daughter, Daria, talking about how she thinks of him every day and how strong her mom is. She is 25 now. It was a very moving story.
  3. My mom asked the same question. I understood it as they had removed the entire nodule. At least that is the only way it made sense to me.
  4. As an aside, I have a daughter in college across the country and I ship care packages all the time. You can ship via USPS Priority Mail in any of their flat rate boxes (small, medium, large & it's also insured), and it does not matter how much the package weighs. I have no idea what she did, as she can likely afford anything. I love it because it's cheap vs. shipping UPS or FedEX ground - even 5-day.
  5. My sentiments are on the same page with everyone here about Vanessa. If they come back for another season, they MUST replace her (and retire the word AWESOME, AMAZING). There are enough credible folks out there to judge and that 3rd seat should not be for someone trying to famewhore themselves back into the spotlight. I also am hopeful we won't have anymore All Star contestants. Return to the original 20 format. So much of this season was spent mugging for how much they'd improved (staring at Comfort, as almost every routine she was in, it was all about her performance), and I could do without Allison. I know it's lame, and she gets lots of love because of being married to Twitch, but something about her bugs me. Sometimes it feels like she is over-dancing/performing, if that makes any sense.
  6. I really miss actual cooking shows on this network, many mentioned up thread. I also enjoyed Sara Moulton's show. I learned a lot and they were enjoyable. I absolutely cannot take one more competition show (and those are completely recycled withe the over-saturated chefs we already see), and people traveling around...well...eating. Whatever.
  7. Funniest thing ever. Now that the season is over, not sure what I'll do with my "Mystery Science Theater" commentary on her each episode.
  8. But this reality show has never been about who had the best food or who was the best cook. Cory seems to be a bit of a reality TV person - making the rounds. When does he have time to cook at a restaurant? He should stick to what he does best. One of the things that grates so much for me on The Food Network is the constant reshuffling of the same reality people across all of their shows. However, I'm very happy Jason won. He was always humble, and complimentary to all his competitors (even told Cory he was by far the best cook of them all). Let's hope they don't turn him into a joke.
  9. I know Jason isn't everyone's cup of tea, based on many comments here throughout the season about his over-done Southern accent/commentary. I thought this article shed a little more light into who he is and I found it endearing how he treasures having learned how to cook while hanging with his grandmother. I'll be rooting for him. https://www.kentuckyliving.com/lifestyle/uniquely-kentucky/lord-honey I do agree with many posters up-thread that during the competition, I could care less about stories. Just cook really good food, show me some interesting dishes/tips, and dispense with all the over-mugging (Matthew) and elitist ingredients (Cory) stuff. While I think both Matthew and Cory have cooking cred and many dishes seemed tasty, I have zero interest in watching them on TV. I'm surprised Rusty made it this far, as he seemed mediocre in both food and on-air challenges a lot.
  10. I dunno, maybe it's just me, but isn't he supposed to try to win? If over-exaggeration does it, then I say go for it. It's really no different than others who have forced stories down our throats, or pushed "catch" phrases or behaviors. Like Tregaye. He may not be everyone's cup of tea, but he (and anyone else) should capitalize on what is working for him to be the winner.
  11. I just wish we would stop seeing recycled people on all these various cooking shows/competitions.
  12. I'm glad I wasn't the only one feeling Oprah was misplaced on this roundtable. Perhaps they were doing really current people; however, I would have much rather seen an actress from Queen Sugar who has done some phenomenal acting the past 2 seasons (and is very time relevant). The lack of diversity on the panel was glaring. I wondered if they had all just come from some photo shoot or event - hence, the silver dressy outfits. Jessica Lange looked great and I wanted to hear more from her.
  13. We just tried the roasted shrimp recipe that aired recently. It was good; however, way too much lemon juice in the recipe. It almost overpowered the dish. Also, the 2 pounds of shrimp was enough for the 3 of us, but it definitely would not have stretched to feed 4. And the two pounds of shrimp with an 8-10 count/pound can get pretty pricey. We may try it again with much less lemon.
  14. My dislike for Katie is endless, so I'm on board with a revamp of personalities for this show. I seem to be among the few who don't find Sunny annoying. Just in general, the network needs to stop recycling the same chefs for every show. So tired of all of them and the gimmicky concepts.

I have not had any respect for Gimelstob for a very long time. He also has a history of being an overflowing word toilet. I agree with your commentary 100% about the rank and file getting in alignment over a return from doping. Pam is spot on in in her assessment that Sharapova has not shown humility and/or deference about this issue.
  16. Wow, same for me, and my daughter now as well! I'm from the South (but live in CA now), and Duke's Mayo was the staple of a mighty good potato salad. I cannot buy that brand out here, but I do have family that ships it to me. I add relish, finely diced onions, and boiled eggs to mine, also.

AMEN - “She has handled her suspension with dignity and respect,” said Giudicelli, who announced the decision via Facebook Live. “But nonetheless, though there can be a wild card after an injury, there cannot be one for a return from doping. So it is up to Maria day after day, tournament after tournament, to find alone the strength she needs to win the big titles without owing anything to anyone.” And Justin is just a tool IMHO - “I believe every tournament should give her a main draw wild card, and I think the safest play is to give her a wild card into the qualies,” Justin Gimelstob, a Tennis Channel analyst and member of the ATP board of directors, said on Monday. “I’m very concerned this new president is going to try to make a statement and shut her out of the tournament. If he does that, it’s a huge travesty and a mistake.” THIS - Novak Djokovic, a longtime friend of Sharapova’s, said, “Whoever, you know, runs the French Open is in charge of the French Open, and they can make a decision that they think is the most appropriate.”
  18. My daughter and I noticed Brad's lump right away and commented. It did look bizarre and in a place that wouldn't seem to have a normal bone protruding. Also, this likely sounds petty but we also wonder why you would paint your nails before going on Survivor? Looking at you Sierra! Feel validated that we weren't the only ones wondering about Tai's votes and when those convo's happened! Andrea could not possibly have seemed more disengaged on that reward challenge. Child, puhleeze, with her eye rolls.
  19. Yes, I'm actually missing when Sara Moulton was on back in the day.
  20. On IMDB, they are showing her only appearing in the 2 episodes.
  21. Yes. this. I was wondering the same thing as to why they were not doing the translations!
  22. I found it here - http://cadillaccowgirlchili.blogspot.com/2012/07/pioneer-woman-you-can-kiss-my-barefoot.html And this is outdated, but still humorous - http://www.thepioneerwomansux.com/2011/05/ladd-and-ree-are-idiots/
