Real Housewives in the Media
Palimelon replied to Lisin's topic in The Real Housewives Of Orange County
Probably once Alexis gets confirmation if she will be returning or not next season. -
You can do both. You can reform the system as much as you want but people will still be saying offensive things regardless. And people should still be called out for saying such things. Reform isn’t just about changing laws. His cabinet picks seem like the result of a reality game show where the winners are determined by who can suck up to him the most now (nevermind what many of those same choices have said about him in the past). They will complain, but it will somehow be the fault of immigrants, trans people, pronouns, socialism, the Deep State…take your pic. Any fault but his. On another note, Happy Holidays y’all!

I know, that comment was more for people reading this thread that didn’t already know about the show but were curious.

Kyle Richards: Pantene Poster Girl

I do remember a lot of people (fans) were on here side over Rinna's, that's for sure. Even people who thought Kathy did bad in Aspen thought Rinna was going after her way too hard. -

Sandra Gilbert, co-author of The Madwoman in the Attic, dies aged 87. The writer was also a renowned academic and poet as well as being one of the leading figures of second wave feminism. Gilbert began teaching at California State University, and published a book on DH Lawrence’s poetry, Acts of Attention, in 1972. She then taught for a brief period at Indiana University. In 1976, Gilbert moved on to teach at UC Davis. Gilbert would go on to co-author further works, including No Man’s Land, a three-volume study of 20th-century works by women, and most recently Still Mad, published in 2021. She and her co-writer, Susan Gubar, received the Ivan Sandrof lifetime achievement award from the National Book Critics Circle in 2012. Between 1985 and 1989, Gilbert was a professor of English at Princeton University. She also wrote nine books of poetry, published between 1979 and 2011, as well as works of memoir and non-fiction. -
I'm sorry, that might be one way, but it should not be only way. If someone is an asshole they should still be called out for it. And I will call them out for it, even if it offends them. And of course my favorite counterargument of theirs: "I'm not racist*, but you're racist for pointing out how racist I am!" *or whatever they are

That isn't what most of us on here are talking about when we say combating or fighting intolerance.

Except I am not imposing my beliefs on them, I am asking them to respect my choices. Again, forcing my beliefs on them means forcing them to have an abortion or queer marriage, which nobody is doing or asking for. Asking them to respect my beliefs that allow me and others to do either isn't imposing anything on them. Except what they are doing is TAKING away rights from other people. Not sure if that's what a democracy should be. Most national polls say that the majority of Americans are actually for abortion being legal and that queer people should be allowed to get married. https://www.pewresearch.org/religion/fact-sheet/public-opinion-on-abortion/ https://www.pewresearch.org/politics/2024/05/13/broad-public-support-for-legal-abortion-persists-2-years-after-dobbs/ https://news.gallup.com/poll/321143/americans-stand-abortion.aspx https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2024/08/20/how-americans-really-feel-about-abortion-the-sometimes-surprising-poll-results-as-dnc-gets-underway/ https://news.gallup.com/poll/1651/gay-lesbian-rights.aspx https://news.gallup.com/poll/646202/sex-relations-marriage-supported.aspx https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/mar/11/us-public-support-lgbtq-protection-falls https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2022/11/15/about-six-in-ten-americans-say-legalization-of-same-sex-marriage-is-good-for-society/ So what we have is the minority wanting to dictate these 2 issues for the majority.

What rights exactly are being taken away?
-
Taking away freedoms from people to verbally be assholes isn't taking away their freedom. No, freedom isn't just for people to disagree with me, but that doesn't mean they have the freedom to impose their beliefs on me. Nobody is forcing people to have an abortion or gay marriage. But the intolerant ones want to force others not to be able to at all.
-
Exactly. Plus, being tolerant to intolerance normalizes it in the long run.

That picture of them on Air McDonalds made me think "Oh, look, the anti-Christ and the 4 Horsemen..."

I thought it meant a visit from Mrs. Palm and her 5 daughters, whether watching porn or not. -

Is the deer the villain? Or one of them, anyway... -
The irony is people are getting the Bible itself banned for the reasons the Christian Right is banning other books. Utah primary schools ban Bible for 'vulgarity and violence'. After a Colorado Springs school district banned several books, one parent is requesting they pull the Bible, too.

I would totally watch "Dick or snake?" if it were a real TV show. The Susan Collins Scale means most (if not all) of Trump's pics will be approved, I think. Or just buy them outright, they did with Instagram and Whatsapp. One reason I think people are worrying about TikTok is that there hasn't been a new social media app that is American based/owned that is trending with the younger crowd. Facebook and Instagram have an older user base than TikTok, and as people get older, they aren't signing up for those 2 platforms the way younger people are for TikTok, which means less users in the long run, which hurts their business model. China having access to people's information sucks. But then again, so do the companies in the US having access to people's information in the US as well. And let's be honest, they aren't that altruistic about not sharing it with others as well, even if they are selling it for business purposes. And given how many of the billionaires who own these companies (even companies like Amazon) are cozying up to the incoming administration, that should be equally as worrying as anything TikTok does.

TJ could be using Stacey to raise his profile as an actor and get more gigs. I had no idea who he was till I saw him on this show. -

Wasn't Kathy received well on the show though? Especially after Rinna went after her? -
