Late Night With Seth Meyers - General Discussion
Laura Holt replied to Words's topic in Late Night With Seth Meyers
Loved when he talked about his family putting up with him for 5 months and his 7 yr old told him "Not only do I not care today what Rudy Giuliani did I won't care what Rudy Giuliani did tomorrow either". -

Just saw it. Best punchline ever. And he knew it 😄. -

Oh this is too bad! I didn't get into this show until last year and I really liked it.

Oh my god this reminds me of the company I worked for when I first started out - they would host big Christmas parties for all the employees and have door prizes. One year I won a little pink metal case with post it notes inside that you could keep in your purse for all those post it related emergencies that can arise. It was hard to be grateful...

Different kinds of watches, jewelry (rings, earrings, pendants), kitchen stuff ( like an air fryer, coffeemaker, toaster oven), camping gear, clocks. Depends on the years of service - the longer, the nicer of course. Really odd selection though but I guess they are covering a lot of bases.

Everybody Loves Raymond - General Discussion

One twist they could have tried was having Michael or Geoffrey marry someone just like Marie, move into the house across the street and be over constantly with advice and food. Of course given Ray and Debra would be in their 60s at this point a daughter in law coming over to clean wouldn't be a terrible thing! -
My husband is retiring soon and the company gives a gift to acknowledge "your years of valuable service". Anyway he just sent me the link to the gifts he can choose from. It's an eclectic selection that's for sure but one old stalwart was listed in one of the categories - a super nice engraved "luxury" pen and pencil set. Would anyone choose something like this anymore?

Health and Wellness Chit-Chat: Your Primary Care Topic
Laura Holt replied to JTMacc99's topic in Health & Wellness
It was just announced that the Nobel in medicine goes to 2 scientists whose work enabled the creation of Covid mRNA vaccines. They helped save thousands of lives but cue the Covidiots losing their minds over this. -
I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not but I always wondered how it was that Marcia and Greg had a different boyfriend/girlfriend from show to show. Same thing on The Partridge Family and My Three Sons (until they married the boys off way too young). In some ways I do see it as a positive but I guess they weren't really making statements about the drawbacks of "going steady" at too young an age but rather didn't want to have too many recurring actors.

I don't know enough about Derick to say why he went to law school but I've got two nieces in law school right now and it's challenging (to say the least). He may or may not have decided to go to law school to one up his father-in-law but staying in school, graduating, and passing the bar are things I think he needs to get credit for.

Jill and Jinger are being very wise not to depend on the future inheritance. Partly because JimBob isn't exactly 90 and teetering on the brink but mainly because as you say I would wonder how much money that would actually amount to in the fullness of time. He may be a shrewd investor sitting on millions - maybe - but even so split 19 ways it still isn't going to amount to an inheritance that would keep any of them on easy street.

Milestone Moments: All The Celebrity Vitals

A lot of the negative reaction I am seeing focuses on the idea that the Tuohy's made millions from the movie. Clearly the lawsuit will follow the money trail but unless they had some kind of arrangement where they got a percentage of any profits from the movie I don't see how that could be true. -
Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"
Laura Holt replied to Betweenyouandme's topic in Everything Else
What I've noticed in the last few days is that on a FB group I belong to devoted to a certain writer a few of the participants have basically "taken off the gloves" and are bickering over things in away that just wouldn't have happened a few months ago. It's not at the mod must intervene point yet but today it came pretty close. The weird part is this group doesn't have the anonymity that so many hide behind on the Internet - I mean we know each others home addresses and exchange cards, books etc. It's as you say, things they might have said to themselves a few months ago, they now feel comfortable saying out loud, so to speak. I don't know what's happened but it's making going there very uncomfortable. -
He got to retired undefeated as he had to leave for a hockey game - a true renaissance man 😀! I will get my revenge next week when he comes over for Thanksgiving.

So my 6 yr old grandson just beat me at chess. I am trying to decide whether to be embarrassed or proud. He is not a gracious winner BTW, "I beat you Nana I am the best". Charming child 😄.

Cozy Mysteries: Plucky Heroine Moves Home and Finds Body
Laura Holt replied to blackwing's topic in Books
In another thread I was reminded of a cozy mystery series I read a number of years ago. I still had a few titles and ordered the rest from Amazon. Anyway it's a series by Anne George called the Southern Sisters Mysteries. 8 titles starring Sister and Patricia Anne and they're just so much fun to read. What I think of when I think of a cozy mystery. Just finished the last one and wish there were more. -
Everybody Loves Raymond - General Discussion

I know we will never get a reunion show but I would have loved to see what Ray and Debra would have been like as the wheel of life turned and they became the grandparents to the next generation. Debra in particular - would she have become a Marie to a future DIL or would she have been more like her own mother? -

@aquarian1 I tried to make braciole after seeing this episode but I guess I didn't have Debra's recipe. Frank would not have been bringing me flowers!
