  1. I'm trying to remember how it goes in the ol' Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego game... you get there, and there's nothing to see. Maybe they'd have a cluebox at the arrivals hall or something that says you're in the wrong place. Would be hilarious.
  2. New season, same Probst. Whatcha gonna do. Unless an actual contestant calls him out on his crap, of course. I think Etta and Turtle, among others, summed up how I felt when this was said. I do agree that some that Nadiya wasn't trying to be offensive. Early in the episode, she was talking about standing on her own two feet... at the same time they were showing Rocker picking her up and carrying her over something. Chuckle-worthy, perhaps.
  3. The casting folks love the controversial folks. Spice brings in viewers... unfortunately it's at the expense of quality. CBS knows John Rocker is going to tick people off, and we're going to tune in hoping he gets his comeuppance. It's maddening.
  4. I wanted to watch this show, wanted it to get better after the crazy crap of season 1, but the first episode of season 2 sealed its doom in my eyes. Sure, there's seldom anything else worth watching at this timeslot, but I figure I'd just be better off getting early sleep.
  5. Because we clearly didn't get enough of Prime Bigot Colton, CBS found it fit to dig up this loathsome tool out of some dungheap? I dread for this season, guys. Honestly.
  6. I wasn't going to give this series any attention until I found out that Sergio Harford, a fellow Bermudian, was in the series. So naturally I checked it out (and hope this helps his career blossom as well). However, I couldn't get into the episode, perhaps the build ups were too off-pace for my liking. And, although early on we can see that we're in a near futuristic setting, I think we could have used a little narration to explain what has changed since present day (unless I missed it later in the episode). That said, Camryn Manheim, she's looking good of late. As a sci-fan fan, I too had a 'huh' moment at the reveal that the astronaut was on a solo mission on a space station of that size, for that period of time.
  7. I think that they could do it right, especially if it's a wrap-up kind of deal (with the potential to take all-new courses if the series does well). For goodness sake though, if Hiro returns they need to stop reverting him to his 9-year-old self. Happy that Coleman's involved, it would be good to have Bennett back. Also, in a way, would be nice to get Suresh involved. And a grown-up Noah Gray-Cabey would be the icing on the cake. Little hope of having Claire or Sylar, they've moved on to bigger and brighter things, but their characters' fates could be explained or hinted at in some fashion, they're not essential to continuing the story.
  8. I was debating whether to give Season 2 a shot after Season 1 disintegrated the way it did (after a very strong beginning). I ended up watching the show. I think that turned out to be a mistake. Although marieYotz's suggestions have merit.
  9. I suppose there's chance of further details being revealed by Varys (either through his 'birds' or having Shae confide in him a bit, which is more doubtful), but otherwise I see the whole matter falling by the wayside, which likely leads to Tyrion's motivations becoming a bit different from what the book's given us.
  10. Stannis coming to save the day I'd expect relatively early in this episode, although all bets are off as to if Val and or Dalla will be involved. Brienne meeting the Hound I think makes sense, although I'd like to think they'd address why the Hound and Arya will turn away from the Eyrie in some detail. But then, do we have time for Arya to leave the fray and make her way to the waters so she can board the ship? Dunno. I expect a Sansa scene, but no idea what they'd roll with (as mentioned earlier, Harry may not appear or he may be fused already with Robin). Bran, yes. Don't know if they can jazz it up anyway without some new revelations. Dany getting her fire and blood stare on as usual, and certainly the drama with revealing the child's bones would be welcomed. Probably don't need to get into caging up the dragons right now though. Could be held back for the end moment, but I think the next scenes I mention has a bigger oomph factor... Tyrion's journey needs to take some time since you have interactions with Jamie as well as Tywin to get through (and maybe Varys at some point). The way they've remolded Shae's character in the show would make it weird for her fate to happen as in the books, but if it must happen, so be it. And it probably beats the alternative of Shae becoming Tysha. In any event, Tyrion putting the bolt into Tywin would be a Holy hell moment to end the season on, if they go that route. I used to be a fan of Lady Stoneheart as the season ending moment, but now the way this season has gone, don't see how it can fit in the general flow, and could make instead for a worthy S5E1 moment. Things I don't expect? More Reek/Ramsay. Ironborn/Balon's death. Jorah. Margaery, or even Cersei.
  11. Kind of unfortunate that Donal Noye's role battling the giant got shifted to Grenn, but I suppose it was part of the character-trimming process. Reciting the Night Watch vows when the giant was stampeding towards them was powerful stuff.
  12. The Watch would have also been bolstered somewhat by the villagers who fled from the rampaging wildlings. So, maybe an extra 100 or so (including that kid) untrained fighters defending the Wall. But however you look at it, numbers are thin now.
  13. I think we'll see both next episode, both the Ygritte death, and Stannis saves the day. Maybe season finale gets Jon named LC. I think some of the expansion of Missandei's role is related to them not having Irri/Doreah/Jhiqui - with only one handmaiden/assistant to Dany, the show can expand on her backstory and flesh her out a bit (no pun intended). But yeah, the "uh oh, who's going to die" flags have been raised on her and Grey Worm.
  14. The other thing that this episode probably lacked: a scene where Oberyn approached Tywin (with Cersei present, and oh I suppose Mace and Pycelle too, bleh) to inform them that he'd be Tyrion's champion. Then Cersei would be incredulous (remember she's trusting Dorne to keep Myrcella happy), Pycelle would mumble away as usual and Tywin would be his usual stoic and unflinching self before casting him away.
  15. Not much to recall. Sat around in Harrenhal, nodded once to Tywin, didn't smile. That's all.
  16. Did not like how the Ygritte meets Gilly thing played out. I had to convince myself that it was real from some kind of intuition from Ygritte that this was a fellow wildling versus a regular 'southerner' who needed to be killed, baby or otherwise. Seriously. Ygritte just stabbed a woman, there's blood dripping through the floorboards above. I dunno. Thank goodness we didn't see a Thenn munch on someone's thigh during the battle, I suppose. Mole's Town was dank and disgusting enough without the tavern wench belching through Bear and the Maiden Fair. Give me popped eyeballs anyday (more below, heh). Got a little bored during the Night Watch scene, sorry. Probably just need the war to happen to get it over with. Moat Cailin was interesting enough, I just got giddy at seeing the new credits location. Reek played it well, the (former) leader died as expected (shades of Theon getting blindsided by Dagmar two seasons ago), the flaying was gross, and Team Bolton getting their triumph on was pretty cool. Something did appear off with Dany's exile speech to Jorah, I assume the direction was to have Dany look upwards and away all the time so that she wouldn't look directly at Jorah, and possibly break down crying. Ian Glen, for his part, I thought was pretty dang good expressing his hurt and desperation. There was perhaps too much twirling around, as someone pointed above, that took away some of the realness of the scene. This isn't Sylvio Forel dancing around his opponent, it's twirling and spinning the spear like some rhythmic gymnastics routine, that kind of betrayed what Bronn pointed out about trying to wear down your opponent. Yes, Gregor had the heavy armour on, but he didn't chase after Oberyn for nearly enough time to convey how worn down he was getting in the arena. We didn't get the beheading of an onlooker, but we got the eye gouging and skull cracking, which was pretty dang intense. I guess next episode we'll see or hear the Mountain reeling in pain from his own wounds. I'm crazy for Missandei because her actress is freaking gorgeous, and that's well before seeing her body, so it kind of dulled my impression that the Grey Worm romance/where's the stones and pillars thing was perhaps unneeded filler at the time. Then again, they likely have more in store for these guys down the road (hopefully not ending with a death). As for Ellaria, indeed. The actress has made us far more invested in her future than we were from the books (speaking for myself). Indeed. Tyrion's actor may be the centrepiece and most well-known person, but when you think 'moral center', it can only be one or more of Davos or Sam. Maybe Bran or Missandei if they come into more focus.
  17. I love this whole thread speculating on the various fighting styles that should be considered by the combatants. It's like I'm reading through the dialogue of The Deadliest Warrior or something. Genuinely fascinating stuff, this. Dorne's sigil includes a spear, so it stands to reason that a spear could be considered by Oberyn (although as mentioned above, its effectiveness could be questioned).

    Fix The Show

This. Especially when his commentary is "Person X is [completely inept at this challenge]", as if the viewing audience aren't aware of the situation right in front of them. Maybe a "Mute Probst Play-by-Play" option is needed.

    Fix The Show

I figure it would be 'more of the same' to viewers, but I always kind of wanted an East Caribbean location selected... problem is that I couldn't see any of those countries offering the seclusion required to film the series. The locations mentioned above (Hudson Bay, for example) sound interesting. With all the buzz about the Tyler Perry Idol, I wonder if the decision makers would ever consider the oft-suggested "cast-two-votes" prize/Idol/token. At the voting booth, cash your token, get two pieces of parchment and you can vote a second time. Don't need to reveal your prize to anybody, although your handwriting *could* give you away when votes are revealed.
  20. One problem with a Fallen Comrades thing in this particular 6-6-6 setup: Pass David's torch: Woo: Um, gnarly jacket Pass Garrett's torch: Tony: Don't know him but he'd probably have been a threat too Pass Brice's torch: Tony: ... I got nothin' Woo: ... Um, ditto, bro But I agree that the Probst look-ins were a waste of time. It's almost like they brought Rosie O'Donnell back to do showtunes or something.
  21. What's interesting in relation to Tony is that at F5, he chose to target Trish over Woo or Kass, when it would be pretty obvious that Trish was more loyal to Tony than the other two. It took guts for him to join in the blindside vs saving her (via idol or putting Kass up). On the flip side, Trish would be more likely to take jury votes from Tony than Woo (or Kass) would be.
  22. She got lambasted by many (including myself) for jumping from the group of 6 to the group of 5, but in the end, she made it to third place (and should have been no worse than second) for her move, so it did work out in her favour. Chaos Kass did kind of win that argument in the end, so props are due (winning the F4 immunity also proved her Challenge chops).
  23. Tony is part leprechaun. Lucked out finding HIIs, lucked out with ChaosKass jumping ship, and absolutely lucked out having Woo keep him over Kass. Don't get me wrong, he played a good game for the most part, but fortune smiled on him way more than not over the course of this game.
  24. Good thing there wasn't a drinking game for every time Woo mentioned martial arts or specifically taekwondo in that last episode. Woo has supplanted Colby (by a mile) for Making the Dumbest F3 Decision. I can understand why Woo wanted to play the "go against the best" game, however in this kind of game, you can make exactly the same claim to defeating a superior opponent by voting him out in 3rd place. You don't lose honor or integrity points in this kind of game by making the intelligent move.
  25. It's only a matter of time, I'd bet. Hide your sequins. Alexis's contribution to the reunion show: a brief shot of her crying after getting voted out. Which was one more second than the amount of screentime from Brice. Ouch. And quitter Lindsey? Who? Pretty sure that Jeremiah also got the Probst snub, which was a bit of a surprise. Probst likes his manly men, and I'd rather have heard Jeremiah say something instead of poor couldn't-handle-the-conditions Garrett. Odd that Probst's question to LJ was essentially "so the ladies are calling you up now, how's that going bro". Probst spent way too much time shmucking it up with the audience (yes, kids are great, but snuffing their torches is creepy). Have to give him credit for not labelling the injured military man in the audience as "the real Survivor". The time spent doing all that weirdness (including the Tyler Perry segments) could have been better spent on Kass or Tasha, for example. I never thought of Parvati as a tall woman, so seeing her of equal height as Probst was a bit of a surprise too (for some reason I had Probst as a relatively tall fella).
