  1. Maybe this belongs in good news / bad news but I've had one apartment issue after another the last few days. The big one began some weeks ago when the unit above me - which was empty at the time - had a serious leak from the sink pipe at 6:30 am, it was so loud I could hear the water over my head in the bedroom. My super, who is a great guy, promptly went up to fix it and said my new bathroom fan (which had water dripping around it) would be all right. Fast forward a few weeks and there's a water stain on the bedroom ceiling on the side near the bathroom. He fixes the stain and seals it. Fast forward another few weeks, the ceiling paint in my bedroom starts falling down all over in large pieces, on the bed, on the floor, etc. Between my going away and his vacation it probably could have been caught sooner but whatever. Now his son who also works here has scraped it and is starting to re-plaster but...it's not their fault, he was ill yesterday and had to run the elevator Sunday... but I really feel this will take awhile. The paint was also old so....maybe it was bound to happen but I'd love for this to be over. Good news? I also had my bathroom sink clog up on the weekend. After a day of aggravation I finally used the hot water/blue Dawn dish detergent trick and after multiple attempts it's draining like a dream. Home remedies do work sometimes.
  2. I don't know about now but we did play croquet in the back yard when I was growing up. I enjoyed it also. I was not very athletic but we did enjoy playing outside in those old days! My great-nephews and great-neice seem to be more into organized sports like soccer as far as I can tell.
  3. Well I'm not sure how to summarize everything. Pros: it was a good ending, the explanation of the murder more or less made sense given dramatic license and all that. Loretta didn't die at the wedding - I had a feeling she wouldn't when the show started to tease about the possibility. I hadn't thought of a long distance marriage being possible but they can certainly write it in if there is only another season or two. The Westies are probably going to re-appear maybe? Richard Kind is always funny. Cons: I hated to see Lester dead. I wish they would leave open the idea of the victim not necessarily being a building regular (as in Season 3). And I was hoping that Sazz might be alive, no such luck. Jane Lynch did get a real chance to shine though especially in the finale. And maybe it was inevitable but this last ep just wasn't that much fun, especially with the re-enactment of Sazz' murder and then Jan killing Marshall on top, then Lester's gory death scene. Overall I really do hope next year they drop the celebrity guest stars, especially actors playing themselves. It created so much filler that really slowed the story down. Ron Howard was okay but the three actors in the movie took up so much time and I was sure they couldn't be involved under their own names. I guess we will never find out how Bev Melon knew about Sazz' playground/getaway? Edit: I knew I forgot something but the scene with Tea Leoni asking for their help looked so familiar, was it somehow quoting from a famous film noir or something like that?
  4. Very sorry to hear about Teri Garr, although she had been public about her illness for some time. Yes she was hilarious in Young Frankenstein. She seemed to be everywhere, from being a dancer in Shindig I think it was to a bemused modern day young woman in a time traveling episode of Star Trek.
  5. Congratulations @Cloud9Shopper! I used to work the front desk/answer the phone at a performing arts non-profit with a lot of public interaction so I know how stressful that kind of job can be. Great that you are moving on to something better and with less of that kind of stress.
  6. I noticed him too, if he doesn't figure into the finale that really would seem like a loose end to me...? But I am wondering how they would tie him in with one more ep to go.
  7. Well I'll be the first to say that I was wrong thinking that Marshall couldn't or shouldn't be the killer because we had barely seen him for weeks. I guess that isn't always a requirement in this kind of story. I was thinking before watching tonight that as it was episode 9, that we were hopefully finally moving towards a resolution of the story and it sure looks that way. I think the issue for me this season is that so many of the episodes have felt like celebrity-heavy filler. Especially with the three actors, but also the Melissa McCarthy/Doreen episode which totally stalled the story as well. It did reunite Oliver and Loretta but we didn't need 40 extra minutes for that. The friendship scenes between Charles and Oliver towards the end were charming I agree and it was great to see Mabel finally taking charge of the investigation. Of course now she's in danger but hopefully Marshall doesn't have a weapon on him...or an accomplice hiding somewhere... I hope this doesn't mean Sazz is dead for sure...striking that Glen is the first character this season to be genuinely dead on camera. I guess? I wonder how the Westies and Dudenoff will figure in the final ep or will some of them come back as colorful side characters next year?
  8. This is total speculation of course but I wonder if the big reveal will be that Sazz and Dudenoff are both alive (as we have never seen their bodies and the Dudenoff suicide film could be some kind of a fake out) and has been speculated elsewhere there could be a murder in the last act. Not that I want to see it at the wedding though...
  9. I don't know, I'm hoping that when this whole story is presumably concluded in two weeks that some of these various characters/plotlines/references will make - some sense?? But although I find the Westies entertaining as characters - way more than having to watch another over the top Bev Melon scene for one thing - I really wish this whole season had been simplified like the previous ones. At this point there are so many celebrity guest actors that it just feels like stunt casting. I didn't mind that so much in a show like Psych that was pretty much a comedy, but when you have a season long murder mystery without even a known dead body, and your're in the 8th episode, it just feels so scattered. I've counted up the new guest stars this year and it comes to just about 20 now that we've seen both Dudenoff (whether he's dead or not) and Helga. That's just way too many. And I still can't believe that any of the three actors are going to be involved in the murder, not when they are guest starring under their own names. It might have helped had the show not made that decision. If the murderer turns out to be someone like the screenwriter, that would seem like a cop out to me at this point, he's barely been around for several episodes now and there wasn't much insight really into his character. But I don't know what they will come up with. I do say I cringed when Oliver said that he and Loretta were going to get married in the Arconia....
  10. I guess I’m the minority here, but the longer this season goes on and the more new characters they introduce the more I just feel it’s just so unfocused. I know some new clues were apparently(?) introduced in the last few minutes tonight but that didn’t make up for me for the previous 30 or so minutes that had almost nothing to do with the case. At this point it seems like they barely talk about Sazz at all anymore which saddens me. One thing I liked about Season Two was the sadness over Bunny’s death especially as felt from her friendship with Uma. Now even Charles barely mentions Sazz anymore. Instead we have to have more unfunny Bev Melon business among other things that easily could have been cut. i do think that Loretta as Helga is any interesting possibility but the way things are going with her and Oliver I doubt they will have Loretta involved in the crimes.
  11. Okay since it has come up, I checked IMDB, and - hoping they have the correct information - not only does Season 4 have 10 episodes, but Season 5 does as well! https://www.imdb.com/title/tt11691774/episodes/?season=4 I agree, good news as the plot is getting more complex with what seems to be all the connections among the various characters.
  12. Just another thought that occurred to me later, if Charles is possibly the target (which seemed certainly possible at first) wouldn't the killer have tried again by now? The fact that they haven't seems to remove that mystery - maybe?
  13. I think also we are getting to the point where the leads are acting out of character. There was something off putting about Charles acting out the fantasy of the well dressed killer carrying off the body of - Sazz - whom he has previously spent the the whole season mourning? In addition Oliver's neediness is becoming so over the top that it's just not funny anymore. I really hope they can right the ship but I have a feeling that this season is all set and we may have to wait for Season 5 for things to get better.
  14. I have to agree with everyone who is feeling disappointed. I really enjoyed the show until this season, but what's killing it the most for me is all the stereotypical Hollywood stuff, which is so so obvious and which the writers just don't want to let go. Bev Melon is such an annoying cliche that I really hope she turns out to be the killer but i doubt it somehow. It says something to me that in a show with 3 brilliant leads, the one time I laughed was at John McEnroe's cameo. I guess I can only hope that they stay in New York as much as possible going forward. I can't believe no one asked Bev how she knew about Sazz' getaway either. It should have been a major plot twist.
  15. I should probably listen again but did anyone else think that Helga, or the voice over the shortwave, sounded like Jane Lynch?
  16. With all the names Hammy has been given I keep thinking of Arnold Ziffel, who both received a draft notice and went to Hollywood.
  17. I did enjoy this episode way more than the last one partly because I really did not like all the time given to the actors playing “themselves” - which by the way really has to rule them out as any kind of suspects thus making their appearances even less necessary. This one was a lot more interesting whether you buy the Westies’ story about Dudenoff and rent control or not. It remains to be seen I guess how important Helga will turn out to be. The scenes with the stunt people were mainly entertaining to me though I agree about Paul Rudds bad accent. The fact that Bev Melon already knew about Sazz’ Paradise before Charles even remembered about it suggests to me that it is actually possible that Sazz is alive after all. How else would she have found out about it? I suppose there are other possibilities but I wonder.
  18. A lot to take in here! You all are much better than I am at speculating at possibilities in this case. I find the idea that Bev Melon is somehow involved intriguing. I have to say that on the face of it right now I really don’t like the whole involvement of the doppelgänger actors, i think it’s really slowing down the story—-however it’s possible that this is fitting in with the whole theme of Sazz being Charles’ double and now the possibility that Sazz herself has a double? Of the guest actors I only enjoyed Eugene Levy and agree that the scene with Richard Kind was hilarious. Both Eva and Zach totally annoyed me even though they obviously were playing satiric versions of themselves. I did love The Perfect Strangers theme sequence though and loved it being topped off by Una. Probably this will all come together later on but I hope we get back to the real trio next time.
  19. I can't place it but I would guess it's an image of a person from a modernist painting or sculpture of some sort. It definitely doesn't look like Arbuckle to me.

Chris Eubanks was doing a fine job as the commentator on site at the Fritz/Tiafoe semi, he would be great as a full time commentator instead of Kyrgios for instance. In fact he would be an improvement over Chris Fowler who I suspect is reading most of his comments from a script.
  21. A lot to digest in this one which I watched immediately after seeing the first one, because the ending to the first was so upsetting that I didn't want to leave it at that. I loved seeing Richard Kind, he does pop up a lot doesn't he, he even showed up in Elementary which seemed to find lesser known (but very gifted) actors in smaller roles. All the Westies were so obviously weird though that I wonder if they will turn out to be red herrings. Not thrilled with seeing Jan either so I hope her appearance will be a one off. Maybe her appearance was partly there to encourage Oliver and Mabel that Charles was starting to go off the deep end. Great scenes between Steve Martin and Jane Lynch. Now that it's been brought up I really hope Sazz is alive but who can tell at this point. Great to have Detective Williams back, I can imagine her reaction to our heroes contaminating the evidence. Even Perry Mason was more careful in the old days.
  22. This season looks really strong to me. I admit I didn't love the Hollywood production meeting scene, even though our trio were great and the guest doppelgangers were fun. It's just I think that the producer/writer/directors seemed a little cliched, if that's a word, to me. I was glad that they went back to New York though it clearly was necessary that they go to Sazz' apartment. The ending was so dark, horrible and sad. I agree that Steve Martin totally sold it. I have to admit that although I thought of it in passing I haven't been seriously considering that Sazz might actually be alive, although the old trope of no body...in this kind of show does make it plausible. Personally I hope she is although in that case there must be another murder coming to keep with the show's theme? Or not? Could it be in tune with movie make believe?

@Harry24 that's such incredible timing, Disney pulls this every year getting into a dispute with some cable or other service during the US Open and settling just in time for football season. Last year ESPN was blacked out on Spectrum cable and I took out a Sling subscription to tide me over. Just so annoying that they pull this all the time!
  24. I hope we do have a cooler winter after all this heat. In regard to dressing in church, I don't think footwear should be an issue. Ever since my vasculitis and balance issues I've had no problem with wearing some form of walking shoes even to a reception - I went to one at my artist's club this past week, I wore a black outfit but with the walking shoes, I am walking much better now but would not trust formal shoes at this point. However I do cringe when I see men - because it seems to be men 90 percent of the time - wearing shorts even in Church. Older men, younger men, what have you. It can't be that hard to put a long pair of pants on anywhere that's a least a formal occasion.

Just catching up and saw this post. I do think there's a good chance that Inside continues in some form. As has been speculated elsewhere, it might be possible for them to present a fun weekly show with the TNT crew even if they can't broadcast the games. I agree that Ernie isn't going anywhere and glad that Charles is loyal to him and TNT, I imagine the others will feel the same. Here's hoping that Inside continues in some format beyond next year.
