  1. Lmaoo.....I was actually going to make a joke about Bill Cosby (if he were available) being appointed to a position but I thought better of it.
  2. I love that Christie looks to be getting stiffed by Trump. Christie unlike the others had a soul and a conscious. Years ago, I said here is a conservative I could actually consider voting for. He seemed so level headed and sensible. He sold his soul to the devil himself this year. He compromised his political future by backing Trump pretty early on (helping him with debate prep, etc.) and I dont want him rewarded for it. I hope Trump stiffing Christie and hopefully Guiliani and toying with the others (Cruz, Romney) it will be a lesson to them and others...stick to your principles, fight for what you believe in. Has there been any Republican who didn't flip flop on their view of Trump? Just to keep track...Trump has apppointed a white supremacist/anti-semite in Bannon as his Chief Strategist, looks to be apppointing a racist as Attorney General in Jeff Sessions and an anti-Muslim crazy as National Security Advisor in Mike Flynn. Talk about sn Axis of Evil. Yikes.
  3. This shit right here? Scary. I can actually imagine this Admininstration doing this. Perhaps the people who voted for Trump (you know, the non-racists) would finally see the error or their ways if this starts happening. Prejudiced, racist...to-may-to, to-mah-to. The issue here is that Trump, Bannon and the like have real power now to institute some really destructive policies against blacks and other minorities in addition to their very presense in the WH giving racist the green light to do and say whatever they want now. I'm actually waiting for the first report of a black person being lynched.
  4. I've been watching this documentary on Netflix called 13th. It's about how the 13th Amendment which abolished slavery progressed into the criminization of black people (men more specifically). Through the Jim Crow era, through the policies enacted by Nixon, Reagan and yes Bill Clinton and now how so many corporations (Victoria's Secret, AT&T, Idaho Potatoes, etc.etc.) use prisoners to manufacture their goods (modern day slavery). Anyway, not to give anything away but there's a part in the doc where they show some of Trump's worst moments over the campaign season...where he'd had black people pushed and kicked out of his rallies...where you can hear him say "In the good old days, the police would treat them rough and they would think twice about protesting"...you have that juxtaposed with footage from the 50s and 60s with the exact the same thing happening....black people being pushed and spat on. It was very startling to watch. This is why I hope Trump fails. Call me Unamerican or whatever, but what Trump did...the things he said, and the people he appealed to? I will never forgive or forget it. He is not worthy of that Office and nor of my respect (and I'm sure he doesn't give a flying fuck about either). My real hope is that he fails so bigly and after he's impeached or has resigned that his reputation as a businessman is forever sullied, he loses a couple billion and one or more of those spoiled brats goes to prison for fraud or whatever.
  5. Im trying to figure out why I actually feel safer with Guiliani as Secretary of State rather than Attorney General.
  6. By the same token, it boils me when jackasses like Paul Ryan like to say that the Republicans "are the Party of Lincoln". Give me a fucking break. Lincoln may not have been the staunch supporter of blacks the way history has made him out to be...but even HE would roll over in his grave with having his good name associated with this current incarnation of the Republican Party which is nothing put a cesspool of elitist white men and their racist backers.
  7. Ever since Trump starting his campaign I started thinking about where he would be if he wasnt born with a silver spoon in his mouth...if his father hadnt have given him a modest $1 million to start his investing. Maybe he would have felt the need to be more informed throughout his life? Would he have still become a billionaire? Or would he have been one of those people hoping for jobs that are never coming back? It amazes me that someone who is 70 years old, an international businessman AND someone who actually ran FOR the position knows next to nothing about it.
  8. Steve Bannon, Priebus, Pence and any Republican within shouting distance would NEVER allow Obama to be any kind of influence on Trump. It will never ever ever happen.
  9. God...it boils me so much that Obama is doing this. He is too good of a man. I am not surprised and I wouldn't expect anything less from Pres. Obama. He has been a class act pretty much his entire life (because you know if he wasnt the Republicans would have dug up whatever misstep 8 or 4 years ago). He is who I feel the worse for. His legacy on the brink of destruction with that maniac and his klan of characters invading the WH. Dont these people know anything? Surprised that the entire staff has to be replaced? Ugg..
  10. This Sunday night matchup is killing me. Usually I like to have a team to root for... but both are just so unlikable to me. I guess I'll root for the Seahawks (even though I picked NE in the pool) just because my hatred for the Patriots, Tom Brady and Bilicheck specifically has gone on for over a decade. My hatred for the Hawks is still in its infancy.
  11. @MulletorHater You might have to keep waiting...during his 60 minutes interview he said its a media creation. How the racist acts going on across the country cant or shouldnt be put on him because those things could have happened whether or not he was elected. He is taking absolutely zero responsibility for unearthing the most despicable parts of society.
  12. By that token...perhaps the DNC shouldnt clearly tip the scales in favor of one Democratic nominee over the other. It was so clear that the top brass at the DNC were going to get Hillary the nomination come hell or high water. 2008 was supposed to be her turn but that young, inspirational senator from Illinois got in the way. No way were they going to let someone else swoop in again. So Bernie (and millions of his supporters..admittedly I was one) were crushed. The DNC assumed we were just going to come out and vote for Hillary because they said so. Because she'd been there for 30 years always fighting for women and children. The problem is when you have to reach back to 1990-something to find footage of you actually doing something tangible for women and children then you message rings a little hallow. Hillary has been a career politician....not a crusader for the working class like she touted. The problem is, if she were a man it wouldnt have been an issue to be a "career politician"...well I take that back...because clearly there was pushback on both sides when it comes to "Washington insiders". Thats one of the things that made Obama so great. He really connected with us "common folk"/wasnt an insider....and just by virtue of his race, name, background, you name it was very different. Hillary represented much of the same and the DNC failed to realize that isnt going to fly anymore. Bernie could have been the party's outsider to combat DT's supposed outsider.
  13. @crayon78.....I've been flipping back and forth between the 60 minutes interview and football. Nothing new from what I've seen. Im sure you guys all saw the clip of him saying Hillary and Bill were nice when they called to congratulate him. He said he doesnt want to "hurt" them when pressed about whether he'd make good on his promise to have her locked up for the email scandal. Ummm he patted himself on the back for winning the presidency and maintaining both parts of Congress...when according to him people were "abusing" him 4-5 weeks ago saying he'd lose all 3 parts. Melania spoke about how we need to be nicer to each other and communicate with each other....blah blah blah. Normally I find a foreign accent very sexy and appealing...but hearing Melania talk is like nails on a chalkboard for me. Back to Trump.....he said he'll release his tax returns at the appropriate time...but he's still under audit. Said it seems nobody really cared about the tax returns anyway. He actually still agrees that the system is rigged....some parts of it. Said just because he won doesnt mean he's gonna change his mind about it. But likes that the EC brings all the states into play. NOW he says he respects the system. Ugg.. He wont take any vacations. Says he wont accept the salary. He says he thinks by law he must accept something...so he'll probably just take $1.
  14. I travel to DC fairly regularly. I live in NYC, but still have friends and family there. My 5 year old godson lives there and asked his mom if the bad man (thats what he calls Trump) winning means she cant go to work anymore. I had planned to go to the inauguration not necessarily to see Hillary be confirmed but just to be in town and soak up the atmosphere. But now? No way. Its going to make me physically ill even to watch it on tv.
  15. I'd like to know now from any Trump supporter who (supposedly) isnt a racist or xenophobic or misogynistic or anti-semitic why any minority shouldnt be terrified right now? As if it wasnt bad enough having Mike Pence on the ticket (I wished the Clinton-Kaine ticket had attacked Pence for his own questionable statements and policies at least a couple of times..rather than making the entire election about Trump. IMO, Pence is just as dangerous if not more so. But now we have a KNOWN white supremacist sympathizer as Chief Strategist. Why even bother with Priebus as Chief of Staff...Trump should have just went ahead and named David Duke.
  16. I have absolutely no hope for this Admininstration and they havent done anything to earn the benefit of the doubt. Quite the opposite actually. Nothing will please me more to see the looks on all DT's idiot supporters when they realize he's not bringing back their jobs. He's already walked back one campaign promise and said he wont repeal Obamacare afterall.
  17. So apparently the Trump Admin have cooked up a plan to harasss Mexicans sending money home thru Western Union or Moneygram by making it a requirement that they show proof of citizenship...this in an effort to extort money from Mexico to build that stupid wall. If those people would put their evil brainpower into actually solving legitimate problems...we'd be in a much better place.
  18. Is anybody really surprised by this? Trump didnt want to be President...he just wanted to win. This was a game to him.
  19. But what you're saying is that inherently there are things boths sides can compromise on. When it comes to misogynistic, racist and xenophobic rhetoric....its just wrong. Period. You want to debate what to do about the environment, or justice reform or abortion or whatever....we can do that. But some things are simply not up for debate...assuming you live by the standard that everyone deserves respect and the ability to feel safe in this country?
  20. I respect everyone's right to have an opinion, but I dont have to respect the actual opinion. When someone says that global warming is a hoax cooked up by the Chinese...do I really need to respect that opinion? Wouldnt I be well within my right to question that person's intelligence and/or sanity? When opinions aren't based in reality or fact I have a right to dismiss it as complete trash. IF a candidate bases his campaign on racist, xenophobic and misogynistic rhetoric AND doesnt provide any details about actual policy issues then what exactly did 60 million vote for him for? I mean 70% of the population agree that Trump is unfit and unqualified...so again what is it about him that warranted a vote? I dont think its a stretch to say Trump's supporters are racists, xenophobic, misogynistic (or couldnt are less about tbose things) since those are the only definitive things Trump ran his campaign on. Oh I guess they all loved his business acumen (even though he filed for bankruptcy 3 times and lost a billion dollars in 1 year).
  21. There's a famous quote from Joe Biden that goes: Indifference is silence and silence is consent. Even if I were to concede that most of Trump's supporters weren't racist, xenophobic or misogynistic, the fact that they supported someone who is, is still despicable. 60 million Trump voters threw the rest of us under the bus. There are millions of people who are legitimately fearful for their LIVES. Not their factory job or their small business or their health care premium (which Im not saying arent legit concerns)...but their LIVES. There's already been a spike in hate crimes over the last week, and the two biggest companies dealing with private prisons had their stocks soar. Anyone want to guess who's going to be filling those prisons? A hint: it aint the major demo who voted for Trump. That is something Trump supporters dont understand or more likely just dont give a shit about. Must be nice to be a straight white male and not have to think about being hunted. And what's most disgusting is that Trump never provided any details into how he would get back those factory jobs, or help small business owners or replace Obamacare or deport 10 million illegals or get Mexico to build that wall. No details on anything. So those millions of people were thrown under the bus for what exactly? A hope and a prayer?
  22. I think when the KKK and the Russians are thrilled with the candidate you nominated (and ultimately elected)....you've got to seriously reevaluate the Party. On a more serious note, I agree with the poster above....get out of my bedroom and medical decisions. Your religious views should have absolutely no bearing on MY life. The US doesnt even have an official religion so why do Republicans think that (selective) Christianity is the religion that should be adhered to?
  23. So apparently Trump is walking back his campaign promise of repealing Obamacare. And also doesnt look too hung up on appointing Chris Christie to a position in his cabinet. If he can completely drop Rudy Guiliani, I might just get a good night's sleep. I'm hopefully that if nothing else, Trump's ego and desire to keep his "good name" will force him to actually try to do a good job and not just cater to the Republicans (who it seems he doesn't care for anyway).
  24. To your point, I saw a clip of a middle school lunchroom in Detroit.... DETROIT! where the students were seen and heard chanting "build that wall". The student who recorded the whole thing said racially motivated bullying had picked up in the last couple of months. https://www.google.com/amp/abcnews.go.com/amp/US/students-chant-build-wall-middle-school-cafeteria-day/story%3Fid%3D43451771?client=ms-android-sprint-us So any Trump fan out there stupid enough to think his rhetotic isnt taken seriously or literally...think again. If this kind of crap is going on in Detroit, then you better believe its happening in less diverse cities.
  25. You know what I find to be really messed up? The fact that someone...Im not sure who, if its the theaters themselves or the studio is sabatoging this film. I had heard on instagram of cases where people would go to the movies to buy a ticket for Birth of a Nation and told it was sold out. They'd buy a ticket for another movie and "sneak in" only to find the theater completely empty. Sure enough this happened me last night. A friend and I went to see Birth of a Nation at the Magic Johnson Theater in Harlem for a 7:15 showing. There was no ticket agent but the scroll at the top said the movie was sold out and so did the kiosk when we tried to purchase the tickets. At first I figured, ok its Harlem, and the start of a long holiday weekend (plus the results of the election) but then I remembered having heard the stories about "sold out" showings so we bought tickets to Moonlight (at the very least my coins was going to go to a worthwhile movie regardless)...but we decided to sneak into Birth. First of all the theater they had it in was wayyyyy in the back around 3 corners. It was clear they didnt want that movie to be easily accesible...and wouldnt you know it, we opened the door and the theater was completely empty. Not one soul was in there. I was shocked. Now as for the movie itself. It was ok. Nothing really to jump about. I thought it was interesting that Gabby's character didnt have any lines in the entire film. I thought she was going to play a bigger role. I dont know how true to the real life of Nat Turner this movie was but I felt it could have been done better. It seemed to be missing something. Now as for Nate's and his partner's past? I can not and will not condone what they've been accused of. Its horrific. But we've had plenty of artists who have done terrible things...Bill Cosby, Woody Allen, RKelly, etc. My thing is, if the studio or whoever doesnt want people to see the movie why not just pull it? Why continue to leave it out there? In my opinion its a way to blackball Nate from the industry. Make it look like the film was a complete failure....and thats not right. If he's going to fail then let him fail on his own accord. Chances are with the negative publicity the movie might not have done well anyway, but whats going on here doesnt sit right with me. Because it they can do this to Nate for a legit reason (his unsavory past) whats to stop them from doing it to another up and coming filmmaker for whatever reason they want to?
