  1. Series 4 of Glow Up starts next Wednesday at 8 pm on BBC Three!
  2. Sports week was a pretty decent episode. Although I don't think there was much value in shoes as a pattern challenge, it was interesting to see that you can buy the rubber soles and have a go at making your own. The sowing the tops to the soles looked a bit flimsy all around. I didn't catch what kind of stitch they used, but I think you'd usually use a saddle stitch and very strong yarns. Great that they went with netball gear for the transformation challenge. They even ended up with a couple of decent shirts. Best part was the final challenge.. Great to see them inspired by a very diverse set of athletes. Shame about the second Tom Daly look being far too small, because the elements where really well thought through. Overall some very very pretty and strong pieces. Marni's was amazing.
  3. Awwwww. Vol. 1: I knew this was coming and I had a hunch it would be this episode. It was so awkward and cringey, it was perfect for this show. Shame Michelle put a stop to it right away. Although it was touching that James being family counts as much as her friendship with Erin. Awwwww. Vol. 2: Grandda Joe at the end with the box. I am a Gerry when it comes to psychics. The visual of Sister Michael in the (Belfast built?) Delorean! Next episode sounds cracker:
  4. The season 3 / series final of Derry girls will be an extended 45 minute episode:
  5. Going by his SM he was dead chuffed to be on the show. Do you have any clue what the toothbrush vs. banana was all about? Is that some Father Ted thing?
  6. You are very kind there. With athleisure very much on trend at the moment, people would be better off wearing the track suit tops than any of the transformed items. And I've seen enough people going to parties in track suit bottoms in my life. Mitch's was actually my favourite - and I am sure grunge girl from a couple of series ago would agree. Great choice of pattern for the first challenge, and a lot of very strong pieces. I will never understand the appeal of organza frabric.
  7. How are we already at the end of the season? It just started ... I really wanted Amy to win going into the final, but I loved Banjo's bar so much more. Not surprised he was given the win. Love the downstairs gangster-granny bar - good point about the missing mirrors though.. With her outfit during the judging, Michelle (she is such a gorgeous woman) would be right at home at Amy's 70s bar. Alan too. Amy's builder wasn't wrong when he said that cellar was 2 weeks worth of work. I am glad that they brought Matthew Williamson back to judge the final again.
  8. That was a bit underwhelming, wasn't it? A few good lines (musical fish 😂, display KitKats), but overall not much in it. Another guest slot for a London Irish vet, but I wasn't that keen on Bronagh then either. I assume Claire was side-lined here due to her Bridgerton schedule. Sister Michael recommending the church's sound proofing guy to the chatty blonde was funny. Unpopular opinion: Salt & Vinegar Taytos over Cheese & Onion Taytos
  9. Finally! And all the better that Paul got the boot for something he thought he was really clever about. His meltdown before the deadline was quite something too. I liked his coracle chandelier, but thats about it. Those expensive vases in a holiday let? Amy did really well, I adore those pommel horse foot rests. They must've cost a fortune. I probably would've liked to see the floor boards outside stained black aswell. I will never understand why the people in this country are so obsessed with artificial plants and flowers. I loathe them and I hated that chandelier. Thats a dusting nightmare. Banjo - that was a very Australians at the Olympics colour palette. I liked his canoe a bit more than Paul's boat, probably because the light bulb fittet the shape better. The sofa looked very comfy.
  10. Old Pudsey was a creepy fella. Would you believe that I had to sit through some of my school mates doing a Spice Girl number in about 97/98 too? They were terrible, but the Derry Girls did alright. Loved James as Posh, and all the other girl fit their characters well. And Father Peter in his show master's outfit as class. I think I would've preferred Mary having a girl's night out rather than meeting up with the plumber/Damien Molony, but the reveal with the university lecture and Gerry getting all supportive was quite sweet. Tommy Tiernan did well in this episode, but I hope Gerry gets a break soon. Its the Portrush episode next week.
  11. The new series of Sewing Bee will kick off on 27th April at 8pm on BBC One with Sara Pascoe at the helm - and Patrick and Esme of course. Here is a wee look at the contestants.
  12. Rewatched. Das can't be trusted. Das are just in the pocket of Mas. Das are just Ma enablers. I love the juxtaposition between girls' overdone acting and Liam Neeson's very calm, deep-voiced style. Great framing of LN around those lamps. Poor James, pointing out he is a boy never gets him anywehere - Ok, love! Did youse catch Michelle's Ma sniping at Claire's Ma, 'don't be such a lick Geraldine'? It was so Michelle/Claire. I loathe Mary's wig. She looked so much better with ser series 1 do.
  13. *sigh* Ah well, the boys did allright and the owners' reaction was very sweet. Paul's print I hated and I think the producers deliberately gave the Jamaican cafe to Banjo and Paul because Amy would've had a field day with patterns, prints and wallpapers in there. Its a shame she felt she should skip doing wallpapers this week. Last week she could've done without, this week it probably would've made it easier to incoorporate those ugly chairs if she could've done a print. Sorry to see Fran go because she is a bit more daring in her designs than Paul. The re-upholstery looked a bit shoddy in the shots of the finished cafe, you can see the vinyl ripple on one of the seats, but I honestly don't know what the alternative would've been. Can you (spray) paint vinyl? Absolutely agree with Michelle on the faux marble covering of the tables.
  14. <<<< Netflix viewers beware, spoilers ahead >>>> How funny was that as a series kick off? Uncle Colm wearing Liam Neeson down was fecking hilarious! Legend. Mary and Sarah renting American Gigolo without Gerry noticing, Gerry and Joe disappearing a body, and Joe's new cat Seamus. Michelle calling Mel Gibson in Braveheart a Scottish drag queen because he wears a skirt and too much foundation - continuing the show's tradition of Michelle referencing an iconic 90s movie in the first episode of every series. Did I catch that right that they all ended up with the same GCSE results? We'll probably get a lot of shots of Sister George Michael sitting down or standing behind furniture because Siobhan injured her leg sometime during filming.
  15. Pure sepculation: Neither knew which location that barn swallow postcard was hinting at. Was Carolyn's sudden realisation that it was a pub in England rather than a hotel in Austria ever explained? That pub didn't seem that special. I think Pam was there to illustrate how Vilanelle was brought in and trained. That she might have had several chances to say No and walk away from it all. Instead she always let herself get sucked back into it. I did come around on Pam and quite liked her in the last few episodes. Yeah, I don't get that one because its just the Highland version of when Vilanelle was living in that villa in Spain or Italy. If you factor in all the travel to remote locations this season must've covered a couple of years. How did Eve get to that island? Wouldn't she have a (hire) car parked somewhere close to the shore? Apart from the tarot reading (V happy for the rest of her live, E having to deal with a death for the rest of her life), the kidney couple were a bit pointless. Good grief, that woman has severe Michael Patrick King syndrome.
  16. Me neither tbh, and I was quite surprised when I stumbled over this on Twitter:
  17. Pam got a happy ending because she decided to walk away at the right moment. V could've had that too. The under water montage was to a pretty poor standard and quite utopian considering the water quality of the Thames. Carolyn, I assume, let V+E do the dirty work and then had V shot to get back into MI6? V carving her way through a whole room of apex assassins and walking out without a scratch?? I know V wanted Eve to distract the wedding party, but little Ms. 'I am gonna get the Twelve' dancing happily while her partner does the dirty work downstairs was a bit much. It really wasn't the final season this show deserved imho.
  18. Available Sunday, April 10th at midnight Pacific/3am Eastern on AMC+.
  19. He has been a guest judge on every season of this show and is mostly known for a show called Changing Rooms (which was huge in the 90s and 00s - it was recently resurrected by Channel 4 and the 'other designer' (there are 2 teams) is the guy who came second to Sarah Mooore in the first season of the Great Interior Design Challenge). I don't know about Scottland's HOTY, but he has judged Northern Ireland's HOTY a few times. He also was in the celebrity version of the Great Prainting Challenge. Also, the builders on this show aren't doing a nice photo calendar by any chance? You know, for charity? Asking for a friend.
  20. Lawrence loves himself a tight suit - quite amusing that he popped a seam at the back of his jacket and it was in full view for a good couple of minutes. There is a reason why he always pops up on programmes like this though - he gives great and snappy commentary. I really enjoy the rapport Michelle has with all the guest judges. It always feels like she is good friends with everyone. Hate to say it, but Paul's was probably my favourite this week. I was worried about Fran's paint job, but the hut looked a lot better dressed up. Sorry to see Dean go, but it didn't really come as a surprise. He massively ran out of time and his design was a very Howard Wolowitz idea of romance. You wouldn't want to go in there with a black light after the first summer season. Amy was disappointing. Her wallpaper, even though it was off brief, was lovely. Casting for a new season is also underway.
  21. There is a new cycle of Celebrity Bake Off on at the moment - they are already a couple of episodes in.
  22. Season 3 kicks off next Tuesday, April 12th, at 9:15 on Channel 4! No idea about Netflix, its not on the list of April releases.
  23. At least we got some good Konstantin scenes before Pam got to him with the pizza cutter. The scenes on that island, a bit unnecessary, I thought. Or were there any big revelations that I missed? That series finale next week has to deliver a lot.
  24. Me too. A very American Baking show type winner. Princess castle and all. I loved the blooper reel at the end.
  25. Poor Molly. I knew she was doomed the moment she was paired Paul (and because Banjo and Dean weren't). What were they thinking putting real flowers in the window, without any saucers? How are they supposed to be watered? This is cruelty against greenery, that is. I can't remember a single instance where painting brick walls and beams in older buildings with such strong colours has improved a room. But hey, the client loved it. The bridal shop was head and shoulders above the others, the owner's reaction said it all. The idea for that lazy Susan wasn't bad, but the execution wasn't thought through. Dean and Fran were a sweet example of one designer pushing for the right thing and the other recognising that something needs to be changed. What a sweet heart Dean was before the judging when he squeezed Fran and told her that they did good.
