  1. Huh. I thought that was a fade into them showing us how Susie's star began rising to become the go-to agent we heard about in the faux 60 Minutes interview. I thought it was a good way to do it since there's not really time to delve into Susie's growth with clients beyond Midge. The comic's scene that got him in the running wasn't the central theme -- the central theme was Susie pushing the boundaries to get him the role, and that's what all the phone calls were talking about. Midge made a comment to him in the prison when he was talking about looking out for her interests, "and look where that got you," so something he did on behalf of Midge put him in prison. Perhaps he tried to take over managing her career when she and Susie fell out and he mismanaged funds?
  2. Adding to this . . . Dani Rojas and McAdoo imitating each other because they were switching places. Ted: "You don't have to do the voices. . . " 😆 Sam's father was everything we could have hoped for -- him consoling Sam in the weight room and them dancing together in the kitchen at the end -- 100% felt them as father and son!
  3. I just rewatched the scene where Matsson explains why he wants ATN in the mix, and its where he got Shiv. She's sitting in the background, blank expression, watching the brothers as they talk. Then Mattson says about ATN, "we see a way back." Shiv perks up. He then proceeds explaining why its a bad brand -- "Lot of yelling. Small men, big veins. Long term, I don't think news for angry old people works." And then immediately after that, at the party, he talks to Shiv very earnestly, explaining why he said what he said and that he really only cares about the deal and asking if she honestly thinks the deal is there. After hooking her with his vision of ATN, he reels her in by being "sincere" with her. They then go off for their private conversation. They have their relationship status, PR advice conversation. He never gives her a chance to regroup with the brothers to report back what he said and find out what the brothers' stance is. And boom, Matsson gets Shiv.
  4. I read a recap/analysis (that of course now I can't find) discussing how Matsson has essentially stepped into the role of manipulator that Logan filled -- that these three can't function if someone else isn't pulling their strings -- I"ll see if I can find it. EDIT TO ADD: This isn't the piece I read, but it says essentially the same thing. Looking at Shiv's actions with Matsson from that lens, it makes a lot more sense. Generally, she seems to be less manipulated than the brothers except when it came to Logan. If Mattson is filling that space, it makes sense given where she is: -- despite the agreement that the three of them would be running the business and jointly making the decisions she's already being shut out/left out -- she wants the deal to happen, the brothers don't -- she's reeling from the loss of her father -- she disagrees politically with ATN and knows Matsson wants to change the model -- she's pregnant and separated and essentially cannot trust anyone. Matsson seeks her out solo. He theoretically opens up to her. He wants to change the ATN model (and can we please just take a moment to savor his "angry old people is not a good business model" dig at ATN considering what real-world outlet its based on) He validates her as a professional by asking her advice on how to manage a potential PR issue (something she has actually done and was good at) He gives her a way to, at least in her mind, out-maneuver her brothers and get the deal done He's definitely hinting at being interested in her personally. All of these factors combined make it completely believable that her Mattson interaction went the way it was. And him calling her to ask for a picture . . . was crazy sexual. The way he asked her to send a picture of the bros. was the way anyone else would ask for a sext pic. I absolutely was expecting him to say a dirty picture of her, not of the brothers' faces. I do legit hope there is a personal interest there -- I'd love to see Shiv in a relationship with someone she considers her equal versus someone she saw as her puppet until he went behind her back to Logan. But signs are definitely pointing to her getting back together with Tom since Logan is gone and he once again needs her, which means she is back in the power seat in their relationship.
  5. I'm not even talking about the siblings--at least they have a family tie to the whole mess that somewhat justifies them wanting to stay in, but the Old Guard on the kill list? Join Karl on that golden parachute ride outta there and live it up on that big fat payout check!
  6. Well look at Shiv being the sniper from the side! Did not see her and Mattson teaming up but I have to say, I don't hate it! It's been what--36 hours since they agreed to keep working together and they're already working against each other. I kept waiting for one of them to say that "it doesn't matter what dad would do, it's ours now," but they are just so damaged that Logan remains in control from beyond the grave. At least Karl had the good sense to realize that being on the kill list still represents a massive severance/golden parachute. The others getting chopped are still going to walk away wealthier than anyone can imagine and can go on to their next corporate gig without so much as a blink of an eye. I wish just one of these fucktards would sit back and realize that they have more money than they'll ever be able to spend so just say fuck it and walk away from the bullshit and the stress and go run a tiki bar on some Polynesian island and be rich and happy and stress-free. Just one of them.
  7. But Rebecca is not a child without life experience that has shaped rational decision making capability and intuitive awareness. You cannot compare Rebecca's decision making process here to "what we teach our children." If every female adult treated every unexpected interaction as a stranger danger situation, I couldn't even hazard a guess as to how many relationships and families would not exist in this world. Adults meet people in awkward situations all the time and make judgement calls as to the depth of the interaction based on previous life experiences and what they generally know about people. This is part of the "trust your gut" portion of things that we are also hopefully "teaching our children." You learn to trust your gut by past mistakes. Rebecca is neither a child nor stupid. This entire debate over the appropriateness of her evening completely disregards her capacities as an adult woman who has lived life. Seat me at the table with those who are gobsmacked at the takeaway that Rebecca made bad choices here.
  8. I didn't get the vibe that she expects him to wait at all. He's already clearly shown he will date despite his interest in her and she made it clear she knows who she is "giving up" while she focuses on herself.
  9. And the show also keeps showing up personal growth. Maybe Rebecca is on a path to learn she is fine alone, because alone does not equal lonely. People make family out of their friends all the time. It doesn't mean they aren't busy with their own lives. No family is all family 100% of the time to the exclusion of having lives. We've already seen her realizations that she is better off without Rupert and that she can still build the life she was hoping for with him. For that matter, perhaps she ends up taking in Bex and the baby and they become her family -- child included? I never said anything about Ted not going back to Kansas -- that's a safe assumption. Ted also made biscuits for Trent Crimm's daughter, and I can't remember for sure, but I think he's made them for someone else other than Rebecca and Trent's daughter, so that argument isn't a solid one. Perhaps Rebecca is a good business owner, in addition to a good friend, and recognizes that firing Ted would be bleak -- in that it is a bad staffing decision and she would find a hard time finding another manager that brings the team together the way he does. And perhaps she also knows, as a smart business owner, that you don't get rid of solid top leadership over a few losses -- you look at the overall contribution and make your decision based on that.
  10. Why does Rebecca have to end up with someone? The psychic told her she would be a mother and have a family. She could adopt -- on her own. Family is not automatically your blood or marital/significant other relationships. It could be argued that Higgins, Keeley, Sassy, Roy Fucking Kent, the club, etc. are her family. I get no romantic chemistry vibes whatsoever between Ted and Rebecca. No overly long looks, no accidental touches to which they react, etc. They seem to have a solidly platonic relationship focused around work. They have connected over being "works in progmess," which is also a very normal and platonic thing to happen. Rebecca is not going to give up her club, her life, and her family in London to go to freakin' Kansas. Its a stretch to even consider that. It is possible for men and women to have platonic work and personal relationships, without there being automatic sexual tension or romantic overtones. It annoys the hell out of me on both tv and in real life that male-female business colleagues who become close or develop a friendship are automatically assumed to have "something" between them. The same is not assumed about male-male or female-female colleagues who become friends, so why do we do it with men and women?
  11. The movie? Love Actually was 20 years ago. Julia Davis played the caterer in Love Actually and was born in 1966, making her 57 years old. Definitely not the same actress, Edyta Budnik, playing Jade.
  12. I so love that they filmed at the restored TWA terminal at JFK!! https://www.twahotel.com/hotel I worked for an aviation organization and we were trying to plan an event there. It never worked out unfortunately.
  13. The actress playing Esther did an amazing job mirroring Midge's tempo, physical movements, even the accent is there. She also resembles Midge. That was some stellar casting.
  14. For all the same reasons people have sex in places other than their bedrooms. It's not a "bedroom or nowhere" activity....
  15. Am I the only one who thought Kerry was in the bathroom with Logan, giving him a blowie, when he collapsed? I thought that was the reason for the weird grinny face...
  16. Holy hell. . . . that was freakin' amazing. And completely unexpected. And no leaks, which made it so powerful -- no one saw that coming. But the big question remains . . . now what???? This is gonna be nuts.
  17. Wow. That was just...something. posting here so as not to inadvertently spoil. Predictable, cheesy, bad acting, plot holes, the list goes on. Out of many ridiculous moments, I have to say one of the worst "are you fucking kidding me" scenes was when the VP's daughter was being held inside the shipping container, the drywall was thin enough that she could essentially punch through it with her hands and see the hole to the container number but the hook holding her chain was attached so strongly she couldn't pull it out? One good yank would have torn it right out. The ONLY good thing was SS Agent Amenadiel (DB Woodside from Lucifer!!) but as soon as we got the "just trying to get to see my kid again" trope, I knew he was a goner. Either an estranged kid or a day from retirement--kiss of death. Don't even get me started on Rose being the smart, sassy plucky cyber woman who is smarter than entire trained counter-intelligence agencies; the Americans-wanna-be assassins; the monotone chief of staff whose only job seems to be saying fuck and worrying about the lead guy or scheming with the other two dudes....the list goes on. And on. Oh and nothing screams "secret agent sneaking into unknown countries to do super secret spy stuff" like arriving in a US military Gulfstream PJ. Yeah. You blend.
  18. And . . . she was a kid . . . its not like it was her choice which school she went to -- that decision was, oh, hey . . . her parents' decision!!! I doubt most kids know the politics behind charter schools v. public schools and can articulate that's why they do or don't want to attend a given institution. This is one of the most inane attacks I've ever heard of -- and that's saying something in today's environment!
  19. Why does this matter? They showed Georgie assembling the crib in Mandy's bedroom at Connie's house, so my assumption is that she and the baby will continue to live at Connie's house until they find a way to write Mandy off the show if they have any plans to keep to that part of BBT Canon.
  20. Thats part of why it was so freakin' funny!! It took me a second--I was like, wait, what? Philly to AC? Clearly, the flight exists so people can dine at airport restaurants without actually flying anywhere!! 😆😆😆
  21. On Spirit. From Philly to Atlantic City. Which is at most a 45 minute drive. So actually, if that flight was even an option, it probably was super cheap -- it could have been one of their $9 flights. Yes, Spirit flights can be cheaper than a night out for dinner. And she didn't have to worry about whether her flight would be cancelled, as Spirit is also famous for. Well played Ms. Barbara. I thought that whole airport storyline was fantastic and somewhat overlooked in how clever it actually was. But only because the main storylines were so awesome! And yeah, if I was allergic to flowers and someone gave me Lego flowers? I'd be all over it -- that was a really clever way to go with the safe go-to of flowers when you haven't been dating someone for long. I'm all about Kate Spade and hadn't heard of that bag but I would have at least known it was some sort of "name" bag, not a gift bag without a gift in it. Bless Janine's sweet oblivious heart.
  22. I'm in for this too!! Nothing scintillating to add to the discussion it right now but thoroughly enjoying it. There's a few of us!! 😄
  23. I would have NEVER put Murray Bartlett together as Oliver. Between that, White Lotus, and now Chippendales, that man is a chameleon!
  24. She did -- there was a "thump" -- it was pretty soft, volume-wise and easy to miss. And when they showed her floating in the water, she had blood trickling (? not sure if that's the right word since she was underwater) from her forehead.
