  1. Fair point but the implication was there by pointing out that "homewreckers" should do the "right thing" by "removing themselves from the situation." As Peggy was the one who quit her job, thus removing herself from the situation, my inference is valid. The point remains that Peggy is not a homewrecker at all and saying the man is "just as much" still places blame on the woman--that there is equal and shared blame when there wasn't. But fortunately, we live in different times where we can speak out about these categorizations and assign responsibility where it belongs instead of automatically ascribing it to one party, historically the female. Hooray progress!! 😎😎
  2. WHY is the woman once again being blamed and labeled a homewrecker when it is the man who is in the wrong? Can we PLEASE put that misogynistic term that absolves men of any responsibility for their actions once and for all. Why is the responsibility Peggy's to "do the right thing" by quitting a job she loves instead of the married man who has the responsibility to be faithful to his spouse? Yes that was the norm in the era this show is set but we are fortunately not in those times.
  3. I was curious about who sang the Goblin song (which I have been listening to WAY too much). Thanks to Dr. Google, it turns out the singer is a session singer named Christina Rotondo, who didn't know what the song was for/about/how it was going to be used and thought she was being pranked! Can you imagine receiving those lyrics with no context?? I wouldn't think it legit either! https://www.radiotimes.com/tv/sci-fi/doctor-who-goblin-song-singer-exclusive-newsupdate/
  4. Maybe she is a friend of Wilf's from back in the day when they were looking for 10? At the beginning she didn't know what the police box was but at the end she did -- maybe some overflow metacrisis energy? I have NO idea. . . She didn't seem to be a malevolent character, more a supportive one. I laughed several times throughout this episode -- I loved his indignance when Ruby called the goblins time travellers. I caught "mavity" from the Doctor, so seems we're sticking with that. The Doctor sings! Ncuti's got good Doctor energy, and I like Ruby. Can't wait to see what that Tardis can do!
  5. Me as well. I haven't felt like any of this cast (other than Elizabeth Debecki) have deserved Emmy nods, but damn, Lesley Manville deserves to win an Emmy for this episode.
  6. I waas coming here to say this . . the actor playing Harry is just not a good casting choice. Even though Dominic West isn't great as Charles, I can still somewhat see it. But the acctor playing Harry? Not. At. All.
  7. I think I really loved that! Once again we get a Tennant regeneration that is...Tennant!! Gatwa has the personality to play against Tennant and that is no small feat! I loved him just bopping all over the place in his undies and that smile just goes for days--I think he's going to be a great doctor!! NPH is never not fantastic and he clearly had a blast camping it up. Whose fingernailed hand picked up the gold tooth with the master? I guess we shall see!! I'm excited for the Gatwa Era!
  8. Ugh, this annoys me. There's been pretty much universal agreement in the media and by fans that this season was excellent and a return to the show that we all fell in love with. He even says as much and then, at the end, throws in two sentences of criticism. Its the title of the piece--it just screams attention-seeking from a former contestant looking to get back in the spotlight A better title would have been something like "GBBO Returning to Form" or something like that. https://amp.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2023/dec/03/great-british-bake-off-triumphs-contestant-michael-chakraverty
  9. Wilf! ❤️ that man. One thing I noticed is that 14's doctor brought in some of 13's phrasing and specifically saying "me" instead of "my." As in "I've got it in me brain." And then when he saw Wilf--"hello me old soldier." I recently rewatched 9-11 and I don't recall 10 ever saying "me" instead of my. I thought it was a one-off and I was reading into it but it happened twice in this episode and, to me at least, it seems like he subtly emphasized it.
  10. "On the wonk." Yet another British saying I've learned from GBBO that I must now find a way to work into a conversation!! 😆
  11. awww. I was bummed because I got spoiled on Instagram LAST NIGHT (damnit!) but was still really happy with the entire episode. I hope Dan's family sequence put the final nail in the coffin about him being arrogant or cocky--he is just a very happy man who loves his kids and whose mum is proud of him. And if you didn't choke up during Josh's entire family visit and/or Matty and his fiance and the end note with the wedding date, take your cold, shriveled dead heart over to the Food Network. 😁 This was GBBO at its absolute best. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ edit to add: Saku being Saku: "I think Josh, or Matty, or Dan will win. One of those three." 😆
  12. Subconsciously, yes -- everything (the shed, her name, the toys) were all the Doctor half (quarter?) of her coming through. I really loved the whole storyline of Donna passing on part of the Doctor to Rose -- it really was a very clever way of tying it all back to Ten/Rose and the original DoctorDonna season, and I floved the tieback to Donna's "binary-binary-binary-binary" -- but she's not!
  13. NAILED. IT. What a perfect return!
  14. They got married! She looks gorgeous, he's handsome, and the kids look really excited! https://www.townandcountrymag.com/the-scene/weddings/g45909785/tinsley-mortimer-robert-bovard-wedding-photos/
  15. I think this is likely where this is heading. We'll see in another week or two. And George totally paid to get the Met back on track. There is nothing he wouldn't do for Bertha. We should all have a George Russell in our lives.
  16. Game, set, and match to Bertha in this episode--Turner's tantrum at the end was the best -- "I don't want another duke, I want this one!" Apparently dukes are like sandbox toys!! Love George and Bertha reconciled, and Marian is SO much more enjoyable this season. I love her and Ada cahooting so Ada can see her now-FIANCE! Go Ada!! Those peonies were gorgeous! I also love that they just gave into the soapiness this season. And it was totally Bertha--or possibly George as part of his efforts to get back on Bertha's good side--who got the bug put into Mrs. Astor's ear about Enid. Headmaster Charleston totally knows she's lying. House of cards, Enid Turner. House. of. Cards.
  17. Oof. That was hard to watch. You just keep hoping against hope even though you know the outcome.
  18. And the camera flashes reflecting off the tunnel wall. There are still no words to describe the depths of that despicable behavior.
  19. I was cracking up! I'm glad they decided it was so universally bad that they didn't consider it when judging. I think that's the first time a technical has ever been disqualified!! 😆
  20. That is completely against the character of this show. It seems as though every week, there's some sort of speculation that Tasha is using her disability to gain an edge, which isn't fair to Tasha or the entire tone and tenor of this show. We've never seen anything to indicate any sort of ableism this season, or any other season when they've had contestants with impairments. YMMV. I was surprised that Dan got star baker over Josh, but then another poster mentioned Dan's Thai (not curry!) inspired creme caramel, which was probably the tipping point -- it was definitely creative and unexpected and it worked, which likely put him over the top. Awww, Saku!! Just like with star baker, it probably came down to flavors, and Christy just had more than Saku. She has the best laugh of any recent competitor I can remember! What a great season this has been!
  21. So now we've got Laura Benanti added to the list of Broadway stars in this show, AND a plot around an opera house -- if we don't get some sort of fundraiser where they all sing to raise money (and somehow figure out how to get Audra McDonald in there), I will be HIGHLY disappointed! And speaking of Laura Benanti -- her black and white dress when she and Larry returned to the house before heading to Cougartown was the winner of the week for me!
  22. Am I the only one who thinks the plotlines take second place to the clothing and house porn??? Every week there seems to be one standout outfit--usually Bertha's--this week it was the blue and white "nautical" dress she was wearing in Newport when walking with Nathan Lane to go inspect her summer cottage. The way the navy blue pleats contrasted with the solid white of the skirt were incredible, and then the v strips meeting at the center of her breastbone with that amazing cameo brooch--I would kill to be able to wear that dress--without the corsets and waist cinchers and other beauty is pain foundational nonsense. But then I'm sure it wouldn't look the same, so....there's that. 😄 And what a great show on whic to be a location scout--this Newport Cottage or that one? Decisions, decisions!! Let's just use them all for different rooms and reasons!!!
  23. I was really enjoying this, but I'm halfway through season 2 and am just over Simon. As much as he's giving Wilhelm a hard time about being open, Simon is completely disregarding Wilhelm's very valid concerns and role as the Crown Prince -- Simon is a toxic manipulator, not the tender, sensitive artiste they're trying to make him out to be. The only way this relationship can progress if it happens on Simon's terms. That's bullshit. He's whining because the relationship is secret, but literally the entire school knows, and right now at this point in their lives, that is everyone who matters -- its not like sixteen-year-old royals parade their flavor of the month at every -- or any -- appearance. The kids at the school keep things at the school (August releasing the video was a one-off as clearly Erik made it through his school years and his unroyal behavior was never leaked). There could be external public speculation, sure, but no proof. Nesse is right -- Wilhelm needs to find someone who understands the larger, national and international implications at play and that this isn't just a normal coming out situation. Based on the season 3 preview, I'm thinking that Wilhelm is going to step down as Crown Prince to be with Simon and then we're stuck with dipshit August. Wilhelm is friggin' sixteen years old -- sure, he clearly understands the implications of what he's doing -- throwing away centuries of monarchical succession for a first love.
  24. I just binged this and am so conflicted. First of all, always been a Darryl fan. Second -- France. And I liked the changes with different walker variants, killer nuns, Paris as it fell, hell I even liked the Buddhist monk from New Jersey! There was so much good about this spinoff, except two things . . . First and foremost -- that kid. Ohmilord I have never wanted to reach through a screen and smack some sense into a child character like I did this one. The best thing that could have happened was for Stephane to shoot him and put ALL of us our misery. And it leaned too heavy on religion for me. If this becomes "Daryl finds his true self through religion" I will be fucking pissed. Daryl didn't survive because Sister Fleur and the most special snowflake who ever snowflaked prayed for him. He survived because he knows what he needs to do to survive. Pray all you want, but if survival comes down to praying or a 17th century French weapon, guess which one will help you live another day? Hint. It doesn't involved folded hands. Darryl belongs with his family -- Carole, Judith, RJ, CONNIE, and the rest of them. THAT is his home. THAT is his family. And he was on his way back to them. But because that kid was raised with no parental guidance -- only "he must be protected at all costs and no matter what he does or how much he doesn't listen we're just going to let him be that way because . . .reasons" -- now Darryl has to go save his ass -- again -- and miss his opportunity to get back to his REAL home. I would love to see that little fucker get eaten alive on that rock. Look, I know the reasons why this show is now based in France and they did so much good with it -- I just wish they'd come up with a different storyline other than Darryl has to save an ungrateful, completely unprepared-to-survive-in-the Zombie world, pretentious little French brat who, despite being raised by killer nuns FFS hasn't killed even ONE walker. The only thing that little turd is going to bring back is French entitlement and arrogance. Hopefully Carole will find Darryl quickly and instead of just telling a kid a story about how he'll end up one of the monsters if he doesn't get his shit together, she'll follow through on her threat and do us all a favor. And if all else fails, she can always take him out to look at the flowers. /Le rant fin
