  1. Great show on Friday with the segment at Howard. I rewound a couple times to watch the shocked faces when Mrs. Obama walked in. Kids thought they were getting a chat with goofball Seth Meyers! Then Mrs. Obama telling Seth his advice was very bad. But funny! A variety of Skittle colors is important in a diet.
  2. She's said she was afraid of and disliked the crew when they temporarily reverted back to their unnumbered selves but at the time, she apparently got along well enough with at least Portia. And maybe Four, since he automatically used her nickname? The only difference now is her own perspective on life. I have to imagine she was pretty much a street-hardened criminal and con man before, but I don't believe a murderer. We'll see. What she was like and why she gouged everyone's memories remains intriguing (and which I sincerely hope isn't going to be some wimpy version of, "Because you were too mean.").
  3. I liked Four parceling out bits of pre-wipe info that he thought would benefit each person/android. But yeah, I guess I need to call him Ryo from now on. Interesting that he admires Two more than he did Portia, especially considering their past. The most intriguing part of the show for me has been watching the characters recreate themselves after the wipe so I'm sorry to see that gradually fall by the wayside. It's probably not a supportable premise as the series goes on, but I'll always be fondest of season one because of it.
  4. In her bedroom when she had her pants down and was looking at porn on her laptop. Her daughter was knocking at the door and Sam kept shouting at her not to come in.
  5. A gratuitous masturbation scene, really? That part certainly reminded me of Louie. Not sure what's the point, or if there is one, in giving Sam and her daughters traditionally male names.
  6. Good grief. The news reports I saw say the assault was 12 years ago with an "underage" girl, but don't give her exact age. I don't want to convict him in my head without a trial, but that's very depressing to hear. It seems like being on an "unusual family" show on TLC is almost a guarantee of criminal activity.
  7. Considering everyone's personalities and appearance after the first episode, I was most drawn to Nick, then Tom then Derek. Now at the halfway point if I were forced to choose, it would be Tom, Derek, then a hundred rando guys off the street, then Nick. Unlike Sonia, I would have been talking to Nick non-stop, asking about his life and desires and explaining mine, but in the end I think he would be just as emotionally unavailable towards me as he is around Sonia. It would maybe be interesting to see our counseling sessions where Nick is given desensitization therapy in order to learn to touch me, but in the end I could never be married to someone so undemonstrative.
  8. Even though it dragged a bit, I appreciated the dramatic tweet-reading segment because it was an attempt to shake things up a bit.
  9. I really liked this even though I wouldn't call it a comedy. Tig has a wry demeanor and wit and I appreciated her self-deprecating and ironic story-telling, but overall I thought the show was quite sentimental and melancholy. Tragicomic, I suppose. Ya never know how much is precisely real or not with these semi-autobiographical shows, but I really hope Tig and someone like Brooke were never a couple in real life. What would either of them have seen in each other?! If there's a second season I assume it will become more fictionalized since Tig in real life didn't move back home. Bonkerz lives!
  10. Criminy. Just me? I pretty much cried through the whole episode. Mostly my heart breaks for Bill.
  11. Now I want to visit Celestial Seasonings! Peppermint is one of my favorite flavors -- Icebreaker mints, tea, ice cream (only available seasonally) and hard candies/canes. The last even though I once broke a tooth eating them. My new peeve is that I'm almost out of a maintenance medication, my primary care doctor is on family leave until January and my pulmonologist doesn't accept my new Medicare insurance. I HATE the process of going to a new doctor, filling out their interminable forms (which are promptly ignored) and once again reviewing my extensive medical history. I had a minor brainstorm this morning and hied myself off to urgent care, where I cajoled them into giving me a 60 day supply. But I'm going to be in the same pickle again when that runs out.
  12. Mercy yes! I even liked the character of Jess, which I might not have if someone else had played him. He's the clear winner for me in the Padalecki/Czuchry/Ventimiglia looks sweepstakes.
  13. The condoms segment made me wonder about Trevor's light accent in comparison to that of the Deputy President's, which was very thick. I don't think Trevor had any kind of posh schooling as a child, but we know he's an amazing mimic.
  14. It would be interesting to find out. I think I'd enjoy a season with three successful matches. There's bound to be some friction even in the best cases and the producers could just let that play out. I think what I most want out of this show is for there to be some question at the six-week decision point -- what's boring and pointless is to spend TV time with couples who are obviously a huge failure. Can't believe I'm defending the experts, but I do feel like they genuinely try to make the best matches with what they've been given to work with. It's a win for them if a couple stays together. In the end, if blind matchmaking was easy we'd all meet our partners that way. You can look at people on paper all day but it's still mostly a crapshoot.
  15. Should there be a new topic for Season 2 about now? The show doesn't really have seasons as I understand them, but the annual break before Labor Day break could be viewed as such. Trevor's first show was September 28, 2015. Or possibly just modify the name of this thread? It would frankly make me itch to still be posting under season one as the years go by. ;)
  16. I'm a tiny bit hopeful. We know Colin Dexter has refused to allow any more adaptations of Morse as a character, but it seems like Hathaway would be fair game. Fox has said he's not interested in continuing but could change his mind after some time has passed. I imagine it's not exactly a stimulating acting job after a while, but it's also only a 3-episode commitment every two years or so. I'd be interested in seeing more of Maddox. I was very relieved that her work relationships with Lewis and Hathaway remained professional; I can't stand the modern tendency to force all opposite sex police partners into romance. Do we know why Lizzie's husband is away a lot? In the military or something? Her girls' nights were emphasized on the show so it seems like viewers were supposed to draw some conclusion, but I'm not sure what.
  17. She also has the most angular jawline I've ever seen on a human. I'm fascinated by it. Specializing in black and gray is one thing, but her (amazing) portfolio has almost no color, which could be her undoing here. There were other difficulties this week besides color, but she really fell apart outside her comfort zone.
  18. Speaking of comforting sweets, I was in the drive through at Baskin Robbins for their special two-for-one ice cream quarts and the wait was really long. The dashboard clock was right there and I had nothing to do but stare at it so I know it was almost 10 minutes. When I finally got to the window, the clerk apologized for the wait and gave me my order at no charge. FREE ICE CREAM!
  19. I happen to like first person narratives, but the silver cloud is that more and more books have excerpts available so I can dip a toe in before deciding if I want to spend my .... well, I buy mostly digital fiction on sale -- so my .99 cents. This is a second-hand peeve, but Amazon has a lot of cozy mystery book sets of 3-5 volumes that cost less than a dollar, or are even free. I mean, some poor git had to actually plot and write all that stuff! It's nice for me but I feel bad for the authors. They're usually books that have been out for a few years, so maybe I should just think of it a digital remainder bin.
  20. I agree with everyone who thought Heather's conversation with her friend was very telling. We have to believe that Heather gave her all the gory details, possible pot smoking, gambling, name-calling and all. Heather was obviously upset, depressed, and mentally exhausted, but the friend still pushed her to go forward. It supports the theory that Heather is super picky and dumps men if they so much as burp in front of her: "You have no class!" (Well, if I recall correctly, she admitted that about herself and the experts called it out as well.)
  21. Now Davie, OTOH, I've had a TV crush on since he was one of the commentators on I Love The [decade] shows. He came off as funny and bright, and that carried over to when he hosted Rock Star. For everything he's been though in life he seems to have his head on straight and doesn't take himself too seriously. Pretty much the exact opposite of Nunez. As for his judging on this show, he doesn't have biases against any particular contestants, doesn't take things personally and tries to stay true to the rules.
  22. Nick, Nick, Nick. The majority of heterosexual men in the world would be all up in Sonia's -- let's face it -- plumply alluring breasts. They're one of her best features. I'd really like to have a nice gossip with any of his former girlfriends.
  23. Insect peeve: Cockroaches, now and forever. They're why I could never be a Buddhist. Bodily functions: If the drug store aisle is any indication, most of the world has the opposite problem but I have so had it with diarrhea (after my gall bladder was removed). Silver lining is that I've worked from home for the last decade and at least don't have to deal with public restrooms.
  24. What struck me in this episode is that his own mother doesn't seem to understand him, or perhaps doesn't have the right vocabulary. I would argue that he's not the least bit "shy," nor does he have social anxiety. I can imagine him speaking confidently in front of groups at work and chitchatting at parties, the way he did during the wedding reception. I think he has a solitary personality and is extremely self-contained. He acts the exact same way around his male friends and during the family dinner with his mom -- it's not like he becomes a gregarious sunbeam when Sonia's not around. The guy just doesn't require interaction with others in order to enjoy his own internal experience. If anyone is on the timid and shy side, it's Sonia. As others have said, she needs to use her damned words. I didn't understand her little meltdown when Nick said he wasn't in love with her. I mean, it came off as blunt and uncaring, but that's Nick. Sonia didn't disagree with the meaning behind the words and she isn't in love with him either, so calm down. I think she was being generous in front of the cameras when she rated her marital satisfaction as 5 and is going to tire of Nick's withholding ways pretty quickly.
