I wonder how the participants become friendly with each other (largely broken down along gender lines). I wouldn't imagine they interact before the show or during shooting except for the decision day shooting and maybe during casting calls. Seems like they reach out while the show is airing, but how would they even know each other's email addresses? Unless the producers facilitated it? It's like there's a hidden Jefferies Tube for past participants that they all use!

Definitely but I doubt they do. The fact that the show teased Pastor Calvin offering it means to me that they stick it out. Although I'd be curious from a production standpoint to see how the show could carry on if a third of the participants quit. It's interesting to see the dynamic from last season play out again, wrt Ashley refusing to give David the time of day. David just smiled and tried harder but Derek is not having that. Lashing out with petty and cruel comments isn't a good look on anyone, but while I think he's being small and childish, I also sympathize with his predicament. There are now five women -- I include Heather -- who were Repulsed At First Sight. That's 42%! Jaclyn and Jamie left their emotional doors a bit ajar and gradually grew closer to their grooms (lasting or not). Samantha eventually relented but it was too late for Neil, and Ashley never did.

It strikes a bit of a false chord for someone who spends so much time on the road* to claim family obligations, but writing, producing and acting in a show -- surprise! -- takes a lot of time. His wife was also on the set and maybe her absence from home also played a part. Not that I'll miss the show at all, but the "spend time with my family" explanation is often code from something else and I'm curious in a gossipy way if there was trouble behind the scenes. * His tour schedule shows 31 shows from now until the end of the year, including London and a cruise.

It was also funny that the judges were, "Seen one twin, seen them all!"

Yes! Couldn't the production company have sprung for three damned suites? Or at least rooms with two beds and a table. Having to eat on an ironing board? Come on. Nick's basic attraction to Sonia is still up in the air for me, but it does seem like he has a lower sex drive than some of the other guys we've seen (Vaughn, anyone?). Or maybe even compared to men in general! He's so emotionless and flat that I'm having a hard time getting a sense of who he is other than reticent. We know the cast questionnaires and interviews focus a lot on sex and it's hard to believe that Sonia, who specified that it's important to her, would be matched with a man who rated it lower.

Too bad so many of the women were pre-dumped, but it seems like many of them haven't been tattooing that long. (Although 3-4 years doing the same job would seem to be enough time to become proficient, but apparently not in this field.) Does anyone remember when Nunez used to be the handsome lad on Miami Ink? Those days are gone. I hope the canvases whose artists got unceremoniously booted were offered free fixes by Spike for the unfinished and scratchy work. Or maybe we'll see all of them on Redemption. Who knows what the rest of her wardrobe would have been like, but the black woman whose first canvas tapped out ... mercy me, that was a lot of breast on full display. Spike has a gallery of the elimination tattoos, if interested. I always like to browse through at a leisurely pace so I have ample time to zoom and nitpick!

I'm optimistic about this season IF Peck and Nunez actually act as mentors for their teams. As in, give them tips and advice and suggest corrections if the artists are doing something wrong. I don't know how judging will work if that's what they do, though. Sure nerves, but as usual at the start there was quite a bit of janky work. I hate to see a good artist be eliminated because of stress, but at least Peck and Nunez had access to the contestants' portfolios and made their selections with overall talent in mind.

So Derek and Heather are going to be, what, the 4th couple who never have sex? The physical attraction aspect is such a bugaboo for matching. I almost think the final part of the casting process should include a photo lineup of 10 or so people including the intended matches. If any of the participants are all "ugh!" then it's a scratch. It would negate the premise that these people have NO IDEA what their intended looks like, but it would be a better show. Even an old reality show cynic like me doesn't enjoy watching people be completely miserable from day one.

@ebk57, so what size did Amy look like in person?! Her claim of 6-8 seems to be widely disbelieved.

I'm not younger but wasn't interested during its initial run. It's on my streaming watchlist but I haven't bit the bullet because I assumed it would be eye rollingly outdated and irrelevant by now. But maybe not!

Follow up -- as the Washington Post put it, seniors balked and the SSA has rescinded their text message password requirement. I can only imagine the amount of grief they received!

I've been thinking more about the gents at Hawkins Lab. We know they were engaged in conducting Cold War motivated, Mengele-esque human experiments into ESP and whatnot. But my impression was that the upside-down portal and petal monster were a complete shock to them. An article in EW seemed to imply that the monster was created in the lab, but it didn't come off that way to me. Being scientists they did send that one poor sod into the slime with a non-monster proof tether. But I wonder why they didn't try to close the portal, kill the monster, shut the facility down -- something. It's presence was endangering Eleven, if nothing else. Anyway, I'd like to see their side explored a bit more in season 2. I don't think Modine is anywhere near dead.

Seems like all the side stories, like the runaway girl and crazy samurai wannabe guy, were just red herrings on our way to the real TT. I never thought Stephen Beaumont or the sword guy was any sort of criminal mastermind, so those subplots felt like irrelevant time-wasters. I mostly enjoyed the series as a character study of Elise and Karl and their interactions.

Doesn't Amazon usually have 6-7 pilots, including a couple of kids' shows? It seems off that there are only three. Before watching, I was most drawn to I Love Dick because I enjoy Kevin Bacon, but no. Did not like it at all. JCVJohnson was sharp and amusing, mostly because of JC (which was surprising considering he's known for bad acting). Vanessa/Kat Foster was the weak point in the cast for me. And also, come on with the age difference. The Tick was fun to watch as well.

Lydia looks eerily like her mom! I shouldn't fixate on this, but it makes me wonder how good the technology for lifts has gotten. Lydia and Chloe both list their heights as 5'9" yet Lydia in heels is never taller than Chris in photos while Chloe always was. Tom Lennon says he's 5'8". This photo shows shows him with knees bent and Chris still looks shorter.

I would also remind Kurt that the court of public opinion has existed back to the era of town criers, and a better tactic for him would be to make a case for supporting the accused if he feels that's warranted rather than spewing random, misogynist vitriol online. I was already in a bit of Schumer burnout and deleted her show from my season pass this year, but her mealy-mouthed reaction on this moved me a lot more towards the "dislike" side of her Q score

Not to mention that Brenda's kind of old to have a child! I don't think her age was ever specified but I always figured around 40 when she took the job in LA. You know. Like the age of the actress playing her.

So many people these days can't get through a single sentence without a couple of "likes." Like, why can't they, like, string a few words, like, together? I read an article last year by a women who once worked for Sheryl Sandberg. She related an anecdote about giving a presentation, after which Sheryl pulled her outside for a walk to discuss her constant use of "ums". The woman kind of brushed it off, saying she knew she did it, but Sheryl was all, "You're not understanding. This undermines everything you say as well as your professional reputation." Sheryl sent her to speech class to work the habit out of her. I agree that it's important in business, but I'd also kind of like to send half the world to that speech class! Including me.

I've recently started watching and am on series 2, but so far I find Hathaway much more compelling than Lewis. Same here. I enjoy Lewis but have tried watching Morse 3-4 times and it never sticks. The early series are quite dated now, but mostly I just can't get into Thaw's portrayal because he looks so old to me (like, mid-sixties). The show seems to want viewers to see him as an attractive and virile man and I just cannot. It doesn't help that I watched Endeavour first and adore it so the others suffer by comparison.

I think Elise was 80% of why I enjoyed the show so much. I haven't seen any of the other versions of the story so wasn't spoiled, but the mystery itself wasn't that compelling; the show was more of a character study to me. I wasn't all that drawn to Karl himself, but loved his partnership with Elise (and the French detectives in general).

Even when she became horny >tortured > vengeful Kes? She was a calming presence and did get along with/fit in well with the rest of the crew. So many of her scenes were originally with Neelix, though, so ugh. I didn't mind her (until Fury) but thought she was featured too heavily at the expense of other characters.

Childhood peeve, I guess? I had a hard time starting in 7th grade due to normal preteen dramatics but mostly because I felt like my teacher (a nun) was a vindictive sadist who hated me. We didn't change classes and I was stuck with the woman all damned day. I begged my mother to let me transfer to another Catholic school closer to us, but she would not hear of it. I wasn't even asking for public school! I was so resentful. Catholic elementary schools in the 60s were not in the habit of allowing children to opt out of confession so I should have coughed that up during my forced time in the box: "I hated my mother 100 times this week for no good reason."

It's also strange to someone who was a teenager during the whole Patty Hearst abduction saga and media frenzy! But sure. I wish happiness for Chris and Lydia and for me, that Chris refrains from mentioning the Hearst family on the show. I'm fine with "my wife" stories, but further allusions to which family it is aren't necessary. We get it already. Wow, 650 guests at the wedding.
