  1. Okay, it's a horrible situation and the White House is being totally shady about Syria, but Trevor's summation made me snort-laugh more than once. "Just the tip!" I love when he does his fake American accent.
  2. I always wonder how sick to their stomachs the judges are after a day of tasting. They generally take small bites from each plate, but still. That's a lot of gooey sweets in a couple of hours. Lorraine probably does 3 hours of spin class afterwards; Duff and Nancy seem more lenient. ;)
  3. Maybe we just didn't see it, but the judges should have chided the pecan pie guy for his dark crust as well. That thing looked nigh on burnt. It was messy, too, with whatever those orange leafy things were on top. Winning pie lady? If she can't even mention her children without crying, it's going to be a long season. I hate the way chocolate is pronounced with an English accent, way in the back of the throat and kind of phlegmy.
  4. I enjoy Jimmy's show and have seen him be very considerate and kind to almost everyone. He genuinely does seem to care about others. I was therefore very surprised when he went after Leno in such a public, deliberate and vicious way. It was completely out of character for him. I realize that Jimmy idolizes Letterman, but it was still uncalled for. My respect for Jimmy went down a lot after that spectacle.
  5. Who to believe? Blegh. My high school boyfriend/future ex-husband is two years older than me, so for a while he was 18/19 and I was 16/17 when we were having sex. Not sure what the law was back then, but currently in CA it's a crime to have "unlawful" sexual intercourse with someone under 18. It's a misdemeanor if the older person is no more than 3 years older. If he/she is, it can be either a felony or misdemeanor. The statutory rape laws by state are interesting.
  6. Aside from over- or under-shooting a bit after fast-forwarding, I haven't voluntarily watched a TV commercial in years. But I sat through the Halo ad and found it kind of amusing. I'm not their target market, either, but I did watch! And for a product I have zero interest in, I actually was aware of the release because Joel McHale talked on Seth Meyer's show about how much of a fan he is and how excited he was for the release on October 27. If that segment was a set-up as well, it fooled me.
  7. Favorite couchers? The usual top 3, but I also have a soft spot for Andy Egber because he's such the clueless dad sometimes. Always game to take a stab at some reality dope's name, but never quite getting it right. "Rewind, rewind! I couldn't hear!" "Oh. It was nothing."
  8. Good luck to him and his ravenous need for attention and validation from strangers, but game shows are not my thing and Chris himself certainly isn't a draw. I'll rely on you all to tell me how much of the show he hogs. ;)
  9. Does Stephen always wear a tie clip? The light was glaring off it tonight for some reason. Nice ep overall. The "scent of me washing kale" in the morning. The singer had a beautiful voice, but what kind of fakakta outfit was she wearing?
  10. That made me curious, too! Some quick online research tells us that Teddi's (Tee) name is Shattuck She has three daughters, Shari, Stephanie and Shawna. Shari is an actress so I figured she was the best bet, and yup. As much as I watch TV, I'm thinking about getting rid of it because the price gouging by cable/satellite companies annoys me so much. Everything I watch is available online; so what if it's maybe a day or week later... EXCEPT TPC!. Stupid Bravo makes clips available but not full episodes, so I'd be reduced to scrummaging around You Tube or whatnot. Phooey. It's pretty much my favorite show these days, but still not worth $85/month.
  11. I'd totally be on board for watching Blake, Scott and Emerson mount a production of Newsies in their backyard. Teddi may be the exasperated, eyerolling one, but girl is getting herself some!
  12. I don't care what shows they were watching -- this was the episode of Zenos vs the Fly! Not totally sure any of the couchies had the deep and tender understanding of the workings of The Bachelorette needed to appreciate the Jane the Virgin parody. But I kind of agree that I wouldn't want a prettier version of me tagging along everywhere.
  13. Ha! My mother also had her hair "done" once a week, on Saturdays. She didn't wash it in between but she used so much spray, her hair was more the texture of tin anyway. We lived in San Diego at the time but she was not the sort of woman willing to get her hair wet at the beach or pool and always put on a poofy shower cap to bathe. She also had a net head scarf thingie she wore to bed to keep her style going.
  14. I don't mind Charles but he doesn't really add much, either. I believe he's one of the producers so maybe that's why some of his antics like raising chickens or doing a polar plunge are even included. I'd rather the time be devoted to Jan or Brenda doing actual work. Talking about not being scripted -- I'm still traumatized about that cow who slipped in the chute and choked while Brenda was pregnancy checking her or whatever it was. The cow was part of a small pet herd and the owner sat with her overnight and the next day while she struggled to live. The owner sent Brenda flowers afterwards as a thank you for the work she did trying to save the cow. I mean, I eat beef and it's hard to square that in my head with being so sad about this particular animal dying.
  15. I don't remember anyone on this show discussing property insurance, either. There are currently only a handful of companies that will even insure mobile homes. My house previous to this one had a serial number. Me being in FL didn't help the situation. Oy!
  16. I know his practice has come under attack, but I have a real fondness for Dr. Pol. I enjoy seeing both the large and small animal practice but the big draw for me is Jan and his incredible work ethic. 70-something years old and go, go go! I wish Dr. Jeff would shave, but his generous spirit and compassion for both humans and animals is a shining beacon of light. I'm always a little worried that the publicity from the show is going to overwhelm his clinic with clients who can't afford to pay. Dr. Oakley also amazes me with her knowledge and caring, but mostly I'm in awe at how far she drives all the time! Looking forward to the new show set in Alaska.
  17. I started a genre topic for Veterinary and Animal Rescue shows, per Walnut's suggestion!
  18. A place to discuss Dr. K, Dr. Pol, Dr. Dee, Dr. Jeff, Dr. Oakley, Aloha Vet (RIP), Dog Town, Vet School, etc. Note: Pit Bulls and Parolees has its own forum.
  19. Yeah, no. I've never heard of Brandi Glanville but wasn't able to, like, sit through, like, that, even for, like, Julie and Brandy. I'd be interested if anybody cares to summarize, though. :)
  20. They still revolted, didn't they? Keira just ended up believing in their cause rather than her own. I dunno. If I try to figure out all the history/future/present backstories and multiple timelines too much I need an Advil.
  21. I don't generally watch superhero or action shows and FF'd through any fight scenes -- they just don't advance the story for me and I don't find them compelling in any way, plus the sound effects make me cringe. It's nice to hear that so many other appreciate them because I'm sure they take a ton of work and time to put together. I loved the show overall for its cast, cinematic artwork, and storytelling but as a small quibble, I would have liked to see more of Nelson and Murdoch interacting, doing their day jobs and handling cases. The episodes were pretty jam-packed already, but maybe filming 15 instead of 13 would have allowed us to see the guys being do-gooder attorneys. And also given me a reprieve from watching Matt get bashed up over and over.
  22. This show is my introduction to Marvel so perhaps there's residual affection for her from the comics/other sources that I'm missing, but she bugged the shit out of me from the pilot on. Her personality swings from tremulous and cowering to shrewd and manipulative but I'm not buying either extreme. She meddles, drinks, badgers, and causes trouble for everyone around her. Phooey. I certainly hope she used her settlement money to pay the firm back for the non-working crap she bought, but since she single-mindedly focuses only on herself and her desires, she probably "forgot."
  23. The adoptive family seemed a little off to me during the "meet the dogs" segment when they expected the animals to immediately bond with the entire family. And why did the daughter who was leaving for college get a say? The adoption was primarily for the son so he'd have a companion when his sister left, correct? Honestly, he seemed more frightened by then enamored with the idea.
  24. My complaint about almost every show in the history of shows. Men and women can be friends and/or working partners without falling in damned love every second. Now I'm re-writing the entire script in my head -- police detectives/trouble investigations/paranormal stuff/central mystery/secondary characters and personal lives that include outside love interests.
