  1. I know you said this along time ago - I'm a fed. We were upset because the request came from HR@OPM.gov with no consequences attached, and then on X our unelected acting president said that anyone who didn't respond would be fired. We later received a request from our department to respond and did so. When I worked in industry, we had to file weekly reports so no, this is not anything we can't handle. What we object to is reporting to someone outside our chain of command who likes to threaten our livelihood.
  2. Because Shapeshifter mentioned that her young grandson was already skipping. The 30 years comment was meant to indicate to the current educators that kindergarten screening may have been different then than now.
  3. This was 30 years ago. There were many more items in the screening. My impression was that if your kid failed too many of them, they would strongly suggest that you hold them back a year before entering the school. I will never forget the teacher saying to me, "It's like she's rooted to the ground!"
  4. My daughter was not going to be able to enter kindergarten because she couldn't skip! I never thought to teach her, I just thought all kids skipped. Kindergarten screening - where parenting gets real.
  5. I enjoyed two different couples leaving the boat to have normal getting-to-know-you dates, rather than drunkenly hooking up. I get the impression that Marina doesn't drink so of course skips the entire hot tub scene. If it's so hot that guests are complaining at dinner, why don't they set up some fans or eat inside where presumably there is AC? It sounded like the crew really appreciated the AC in the vans going to dinner so it must really be hot! This primary was truly something with his self adoration. His "friends" must like what he can buy.
  6. This was fun! Loved that after the second level coach claimed that the head coach had masterminded it all, every member of the Dream Team admitted that they'd lost. It might have lit a fire under them, but no way was it part of a master plan.
  7. Having been part of the federal government under the Clinton administration, they not only cut government spending legally, they did it with the respect and cooperation of the people working for the government. We were part of the solution, some of us lost jobs, but they worked with us to cut spending. And it was successful. Many many of the immigrants who will be deported are working jobs that average American citizens don't want to take. How about all those folks in the Rust Belt whose industrial jobs have vanished to other countries come out to the Central Valley and work in the agricultural fields.? Not very attractive is it?
  8. People were reporting hour long waits to enter Grand Canyon NP for President's Day weekend. The four people who handle the entrance desk were terminated on the 14th. So, one day. People probably started seeing slow downs on things like Social Security questions and forms this week. When is the FAFSA due? Those people are toast I would think. That'll screw up every single kid in college who can't pay their own way. BTW - gasoline in my neck of the woods is up 40cents/gallon in the last 3 weeks. All on Trump's watch. When is he going to fix that?
  9. Make one of the morning ones "elevenses" And another can be "recess"
  10. A little late, but happy that Maria made it!
  11. To be fair to RFK - layoffs of probationary staff occurred throughout the federal government today. It's been real fun. Imagine getting to tell new enthusiastic people that they've lost their jobs just because the President wants to push people around. It's not based on the quality of their work or anything else - it's just because they are easy targets.
  12. The crazy mom let her daughter take the abortion pills. We finally get some insight into why Dr. Robbie is constantly talking about getting people out of the ER and into beds elsewhere in the hospital. Looks like during COVID he had to take his mentor off the ventilator after he'd been on it for 17 days because someone else needed it. And Jake the Snake really looks like the mentor. Santos is terribly written. I think the actress is doing her best, but she's getting mustache twirling dialogue.
  13. I've bought snaps at an actual quilting store. And I find that Walgreen's almost always has that one weird item that I need to buy and can't find anywhere. Like the strange size batteries for my scale - only at Walgreen's.
  14. Isn't it enough to just say: they cray cray ?
  15. As the granddaughter of an asparagus farmer, I can assure you that you are right and your daughter is wrong. In the field asparagus is cut, not picked. So you have to find the spot to break the wood from the good stuff. My labrador retrievers always liked the stems as treats!
  16. This has some great performances and the story is interesting, but they needed to hire an editor. This should have been 3 hours max. Everything is drawn out needlessly.
  17. Kate Chastain from Below Deck was in both Season 1 and Season 2 of Traitors. Season 1 she got Cirie through this challenge. Season 2 she figured out what was going to happen and just quit.
  18. I don't hate Boston Rob, he's just been on my screen too long. He played Survivor like 4 times until he finally won, then they brought him back for another season as an "advisor." He and his wife were on Amazing Race 3 times and never won. It seems like you can pick a competitive reality show and he's done it. I've never seen a minute of Big Brother or the Bachelor shows and avoid the Housewives like the plague. Why won't they murder Sam, Ivar, Sandoval, or Dylan? They didn't all have shields this time.
  19. At least Boston Rob went out well. And he totally got his partner through the mission. The moment they showed the creepy shacks, I knew it was the vermin. One thing that seems different from any other version I've watched - when they come down to breakfast and the door opens, no one is rushing to hug the people coming in the door. It's like they're playing it too cool.
  20. Do you have a cat? Mine would incessantly turn on something called "caret browsing." Lord only knows what would happen during caret browsing. She'd also hit the keys correctly to turn off the gui so you could see all the code running in the background. Bad Kitty.
  21. Xavier's daughter kept repeating back to him that they "have a system" and was oddly not freaked out even though he wasn't there in the morning. Could the notes we saw him leaving in the first episode relate to their "system?"
  22. I know! There's an HGTV home remodeling show set in Hawaii that I like mostly because the guy is Hawaiian and says in the intro "I have 87 first cousins!" I've got 50.
  23. Wonder how Gabriel got the scaredy cat son to ride the Ferris wheel all by himself?
  24. To quote Wilt Chamberlain - "Everybody pulls for David, nobody roots for Goliath"
  25. The Greek deckhand getting stuck floating on the jetski was funny. Took him down a peg.
