I remember Ashley Herbert and how she needed a lot of reassurance! If I had the sexy JP pursuing me, I would have thrown all insecurities out of the window. Remember that guy who insisted upon wearing a mask for half of the season? So great π. Rick's tragic story about his dad's suicide could definitely be why he left high school junior year, I really hope that he got therapy to cope with the grief. I can definitely picture high school Rick mumbling on the football field- I don't even know him and that gave me a great laugh π€£! Keep the inside scoop on Rick and his high school years coming!

Shakespeare is so difficult for me to understand! I've been watching the 1980's hit series "Beauty and the Beast" with Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton and he reads her Shakespeare all of the time and I just think, "Sounds romantic- whatever he just said" π . Thank you for the explanations: I really did think "wherefore" meant "where" all of this time when I heard it in movies and TV shows.

I caught that too!! Such a pet-peeve of mine and I notice those mistakes a lot on 90 Day FiancΓ©- but I work hard to overlook them since that franchise is truly a trash TV masterpiece π! Speaking of Michelle, I'm convinced that the children shown multiple times to be her students are really child actors hired through casting agencies.

Great points! I found it really unnerving too when Rick told her about his father's suicide and her reaction seemed muted and removed from the situation. Producers and production assistants definitely wrote the wishes in the box knowing that they'd trigger painful memories and strong emotions. Michelle speaks with a lot of hesitation and wants to be really deep at all times, but I think that she should be more off the cuff with these guys- every phrase of hers doesn't have to be an old school Myspace post about sadness and pain. Most of these guys don't really strike me as emotionally intelligent, so she's expecting a lot from this particular group to read her mind and subtle body language cues of discomfort/rejection, when they're just trying to eat popcorn and mess around with teddy bears. I think that Michelle would greatly benefit from therapy to unpack all of the feelings/experiences of isolation and rejection from her teen years- the validation from these men and the final rose choice can help her "feel seen", but it won't ultimately heal or remove years of pain and rejection that she felt growing up.

I can't stand the vocal fry! Michelle's date with Rick was almost intolerable and difficult to even understand with all of their vocal fry- I had to fast forward big time. Rick's voice is especially grating and sounds like a bloated frog sitting on a log.

I completely agree- a lot of these guys seem way too rehearsed and insincere and I miss the pre-social media days of The Bachelorette when the guys were given info about the upcoming dates on VHS tapes that they watched as a group. I'm going to see this season through since I paid for it on Amazon, but I feel like these guys are acting way too overeager and I highly doubt that any of them approach women in person or on dating apps with this level of fake and over the top emotional availability and romance. Some of them sound like they're reading from a dating app love scammer script.

Martin would look better if he wasn't rocking NASCAR skid marks on the side of his head and a platinum Dollar Tree boxed dye job.
-
Damn, I'll give my rose to that ultra-hunk Blake Arthur the sportscaster any day π! I love a quick-witted man who can shit talk in a suit.
-
Thanks so much for the info! I bet your classmates and friends are equally surprised to see him on The Bachelorette and that's interesting that he stayed under the radar. You definitely have every right to make fun of him this season haha π. Yep, he really does have pretty eyes and great brows/lashes. I bet you will have a blast looking through the 2003-2004 photo albums!
-
That's so cool! Thank you for posting the yearbook photo- he looks so adorable in high school and grew into a great looking guy. It looks like he always has had a nice set of eyebrows! Was he an easy going class clown in high school?

I felt creeped out too- smooth talkers left and right and overly animated/intense reactions to Michelle reminded me of Tom Cruise jumping on the couch. The entrances were heavily scripted, but I did like Daniel's cute entrance with the toy firetruck ride and the light up kids' helmet. I think that the already eliminated sexy tech CEO Garret should have owned his broken foot and walking cane and entered to The Bee Gee's- Stayin' Alive, "Well you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk!" π I can't stand Rick's vocal fry, I blame The Kardashians for making that slutty-frog voice popular!
-
Most of these guys are too high maintenance in appearance for me; I'm not into the earrings, very heavily angled and tapered facial hair and above the ankle suit pants. Garret the tech CEO with the cane was super hot/dapper- its too bad that he was eliminated. Maybe his broken foot was a liability for the inevitable group date where scantily clad guys beat the shit out of each other!

Congratulations on your parents wedding anniversary! They're great proof that age gap relationships can work. I'm new to the Bachelor in Paradise franchise and I guess I'm confused by the fact that any of these couples can find love/engagements in such a short time frame. I hope that these couples take the time to really evaluate their relationships outside of the limelight of TV.

I agree that Maurissa never specifically said she was used for sex, but its what I gathered based on her first date with Riley. Maurissa told Riley that she's very sexual in a relationship, doesn't get reassurance from men, and has never been taken on a real date in her relationships- essentially that men unfortunately didn't fully value her. Maurissa was putting all of her insecurities on the table on the first date in hopes of Riley building her up on each one and then felt validated by his responses and started talking about how sexual she was- Riley then escalated the situation and suggested sex. Maurissa made a choice to have sex with Riley on the first date, but I think that she was broadcasting a lot of vulnerability that night and they both should have gathered their thoughts, enjoyed the rest of their first date and saved sex for a later time. This show thrives on accelerated timing of bonds/hookups though, so maybe their timing was perfect for this season! π
-
I completely agree with you on all fronts! Maurissa and Riley give me red flags- an overeager 20 something who has issues about being used for sex in her past meets a sweet talking lawyer who seduces her on day one. I get anxious vs avoidant attachment style vibes from them and she'll constantly be doing a dog and pony show to seek his approval. I can't stand Maurissa's fake lashes and heavy makeup either. Kenny and Mauri are way too big of an age gap and Serena and Joe are too. I'm put off by a lot of older men who have never been married and continue to seek out impressionable early-20's women instead of pursuing age appropriate women who have more compatibility, life experience and reasonable expectations to bring to the table.

Riley told that same exact sickly sweet fantasy story about Sunday breakfasts, kids and a future wife to Tayshia when he was trying to win her over π€!

I really liked Abigail and Noah together- they were a gorgeous couple. I think that Abigail handled the breakup well and she rightfully was confused by Noah telling her he was falling for her and then ending things the next day. The expectations of BIP producers to have fantasy suites/engagements by the end of the show must have weighed heavily on Noah's conscience and he decided to call it off rather than going through with things and leading her on. The BIP is such an unrealistic and toxic pressure cooker of forced bonds and accelerated feelings and I'm glad that Abigail and Noah both treaded lightly and kept their wits about them- their guarded and slow/steady dynamic is much more believable to me than a lot of these fame whore cast members spouting out "I'm falling for you" as casually as ordering a meal at a diner.
-
This show shouldn't pressure people to get engaged at the end of BIP. Wells should just say, "Glad it its working for you two, now its time to have Skype dates, or take a Greyhound bus/plane to see each other again- take care!"

That would be television GOLD and I'd kill for that drama! It would be the merging of my two favorite guilty pleasure TV franchises π- I could see Joe complaining about poutine or ice fishing and dramatic tense music suddenly playing as Serena glares at him!

I look at guys like Ed and Riley and I see that they've taken bodybuilding way too far and have completely distorted their physiques and possibly their hormone levels with steroids. When it comes to dating, I'm not into a heavily muscled look- I'll take a dad bod or a slender and toned look any day. I want a guy who can lie down on the couch with a bag of Doritos, but be able to run after a bus if he needs to!

Good call, Irlandesa and Crash Course! I completely forgot that Kendall and Joe lived so far away from each other- if neither of them wanted to permanently move, then it wasn't going to work out in the long run anyway.
-
Despite his curls and good looks, I'm not a fan of Grocery Joe anymore either. Joe is 35 and turning down a beautiful, fun and quirky 29 year old skilled taxidermist for a basic, shrill baby-voiced 23 year old. If I were Joe and had to choose between the two, I'd choose Kendal in a heartbeat- she had me at describing bird mating facts π. Good riddance to the wishy washy socks and sandals man- onward and upward, Kendall!

Thank you π!!! Kenny is certainly a character and his giant star tattoos scream early 2000's MTV TRL rock band! Your profile name is so great by the way- very clever!!
-
hahaha tell me about it π! I suffered big time yesterday- I actually made and ate homemade grilled chipotle chicken tacos yesterday for lunch not knowing what my TV viewing future last night had in store! "Great taco?" π€£
-
He does nothing for me either- mainly because of the huge tattoos and I think he's really immature for his age.
