  1. Not much discussion of this one. Seems to be overshadowed by Shrinking and soon Ted Lasso, not to mention shows on other streamers.
  2. Not all European houses or apartments or hotels have bidets. In fact some of them just have the toilet in a literal water closet, very narrow room where you do your business and go out to wash up in the sink. Speaking of toilet habits, if you go to Germany or nearby places like Zurich, the toilet paper has the thickness of our paper towels. TP has to be more common, don't women need it for going #1 -- "spare a square" as the infamous Seinfeld episode put it.

    Season 01

Hmm, Paul is only suppose to be 73? And he has something going on with his legs after he had the argument with his daughter about moving across the country. Understandable, he doesn't want to give up his independence or his life. I think Alice needs to hang out more with her peers than her father's friends and coworkers or the nosy neighbor. They can say they're just showing the times when she's around these older adults and she really spends most of her time with her friends but she seems to be really a part of the older adult circle. Sean moved out or he just said he will be moving out. Was a big no no that Jimmy mixed one of his clients with his family and friends but nobody is making that objection any more and he's also hanging out al the time. You'd think he'd have moved on by now. Jimmy just happens to speak to his deceased wife's photo, admits he slept with Gaby and Alice just happens to overhear. Seems like secrets really don't stay hidden in this group of people, everyone knows everyone else's business.
  4. I've tried bidets and it's still doesn't seem as same as using paper as far as how clean it gets, especially combined with wipes. Maybe I did it wrong, not sure, but it seems not applying friction prevented getting things as clean. So how would water jets do better and it seems they'd have to thoroughly rinse the area.
  5. Is that a real thing, TP is bad for you? I can see it's not good for the environment. But if the alternative is a $10k toilet, is that realistic?
  6. Yikes, shots fired. She never appeared on BD right, only BDM and BDDU?
  7. My Tivo didn't record. Oh well doesn't feel like I missed much. Onto the next season of whichever version.
  8. The Maldives and South Africa episodes seem to be of places with customized tours, not stuff open to the general public. Other shows had those kinds of scenes too but Searching for Italy did feature real restaurants open to all, though sometimes they seem to prepare dishes which weren't regular menu items. These customized experiences for Eugene certainly look impressive visually though.
  9. Like I said, the firing can be for any reason the producers dream up. It's clear by now that every season of every BD show is centered on who might get fired, who deserves to be fired, etc. Bravo wasn't shy about showing montages repeatedly of Camille kissing Ben or swimming or drinking repeatedly as it led to the firing. They didn't have similar montage for Alyssa. There doesn't have to be a valid reason. It's a TV show. It's all performative. Might as well be The Apprentices at Sea since that show was specifically about people getting fired. Of course other reality shows have this as a central plot engine, people going home, people being voted out, people losing some contest and being sent home. BD casts aren't sticking around to try to win some grand prize so not sure what's at stake any more. Do people who get fired on BD have problems finding real charter jobs? Even if they do get fired from a show, it seems like Bravo keeps them close, do the Gallery Talk show or something (I never watch them so not sure). Or maybe they go to those dumb fan conventions.
  10. Apparently Cranston and the show runner have been doing Behind the Episode videos of a couple minutes. Showtime doesn't post these in their app, like HBO does with their Inside the Episode for House of Dragons or The Last of Us or some of their other shows. In any event, not much substance or insight in this one, like some of HBO Inside the Episode segments.
  11. She said she left before Valentine's Day so that was February 2022? She stayed for 5 charters or about 2 weeks since most of these charters are 2 days. But she left because her gf was having surgery. Bravo could have found another captain if Lee wasn't ready to come back. It would have been difficult but I can't fault her for wanting to be with someone who's having surgery. She also said she didn't hear Alissa's comment about the captain sucking deck crew dick. That was an edit, just as many of us suspected. The producers are up to all kinds of shenanigans and probably looping in lines that weren't uttered when the scenes were filmed, to contrive drama.
  12. They picked the cheaper one, #1. It was between #1 and #3. If they married, he could have gotten a green card. I thought he said they both loved LA and would have remained if not for his visa situation. Both cities have very expensive real estate so not sure which would be a better real estate investment. Maybe they believe that he will have better job opportunities in London. That cat must be old if she had him before she went to college and only got him back afterwards? Yet she had to take him to London. Interesting that he was willing to give her the over budget place but she said they should go for the cheaper place. Never recall both house hunters willing to let the other have their first choice, unless it was a setup.
  13. Season 4 is now filming and as expected, all major cast members are new. https://variety.com/2023/tv/global/my-brilliant-friend-season-4-cast-alba-rohrwacher-irene-majorino-first-look-image-1235506234/
  14. Yeah I remember him being stopped cold by Sudoku.😄 Though I've never played it either.
  15. Either that or there was never that much friction between Sandy and Fraser, they blew it up to have this quick redemption and kumbaya. Some of the deck crew seemed to like her, for refusing to move that time as requested by another boat. How long has Lee been away, maybe 5 or 6 episodes? But the whole shooting season is like 6 weeks isn't it? So how long could he have been away, maybe 2 weeks at the most so he could return in time to shoot the last few episodes of the season? All recovered in that time? If he has to use that cane, is he really fit to be on duty or it's good enough for the cameras and maybe he can pretend to steer when it comes to docking and leaving port?
  16. Showtime says Damian Lewis returning in season 7 to reprise his Bobby Axelrod character. Must have brought a lot of cash to entice him back but since they plan to do a lot of spinoffs of the show, which is well past its best days, they probably want to try to boost the original. Meanwhile, this week, Succession announced they will end it after 4 seasons. The creator says he may do a spinoff but HBO is not on board with the idea yet. Which network is milking things and which one is ending an acclaimed series before it gets stale?
  17. Ashley may have played up the beach and water views thing. The first property which they eliminated right away was right across the street from the water. You could see it but not for walking on because of all the vegetation instead of sand. Maybe also not a dealbreaker to have separate bathrooms. The third property was the nicest but it was rural — cows! — so she couldn’t walk to cafes and stores. Small city but as speculated, they may only be there a year or two.
  18. Inside the Episode seems to indicate that they built the whole mall pretty much. As opposed to going to some existing mall and making it seem dilapidated like that.
  19. I forget, did Tyson win? Or was he unhappy? He was physically dominant in his season but he might face more strength-oriented games in this season.

    All Episodes Talk

Some "superfans" talk about their hopes and expectations for the reboot. Read in The Guardian: https://apple.news/AaVFFkGnZR12BtOJtshUMoQ Didn't know about Grammar's politics. Hmm.
  21. Mazin or Druckman said in Inside the Episode that this flashback is why Ellie decides to try to stitch Joel's wound instead of doing as he says, go to Tommy. They add that Joel was purposely sending her away because he didn't think he was going to survive. So the way it ended for Riley is probably why Ellie isn't giving up on Joel. I wouldn't think the game would have a scene of Ellie stitching up Joel's wound so this is another deviation from the game? The FEDRA officer didn't seem corrupt, though he was selling Ellie on the advantages of being an officer. He claimed without FEDRA, the people in the QZ would be killing each other and the survivors wouldn't last. They were training up the girls to be FEDRA soldiers and officers. So they have a plan, not sure what the Fireflies' plan is, other than to fight FEDRA. But power corrupts and believing in some grandiose mission may lead to abuses. Overall it shows the bond between Joel and Ellie, the total trust in each other, which is necessary to survive in this world. Ellie is fiercely loyal, maybe to a fault. Maybe Riley's death led her to this point.
  22. Hotels visited during the season. https://www.townandcountrymag.com/leisure/travel-guide/g42748281/the-reluctant-traveler-eugene-levy-luxury-hotels/ Some of them are just incredibly expensive. The Utah resort is $3,000 a night they said. Eugene tried to get the chef to confirm if George Clooney or Brad Pitt had the same pancake the chef was making for him, in a comic way. These places seem to be for "A-listers" or billionaires, that is the price guarantees certain guests privacy almost, or keeps certain types of people away from them. Maybe that was one of the ways they got Levy to do the show, promise him fancy stays. But then again, for cinematography, these expensive hotels are the ones which are going to have prime or unique views.
  23. True, maybe they said he'd have to cut his budget. Though Zaslav had said he wants to double down on HBO. Well Succession is one of the most popular HBO shows so you'd think they'd want to keep it on the air as long as possible. There's another article where Armstrong says he may be interested in doing a spinoff with one of the characters but Bloys, the head of HBO, said he didn't think a spinoff would make sense. https://deadline.com/2023/02/succession-creator-jesse-armstrong-spin-off-from-emmy-winner-end-season-four-1235271774/
  24. London hotels are at least $250 a night. Well depending on the time of the year of course. So doubtful MTV picked up the bill for the cast to bring their families and stay longer than needed to film the reunion.
  25. All 8 episodes are available to stream now. I've watched 3 of them. The photography is great, lot of drone shots, some macro shots of insects and so forth. It's in 4K with Dolby Vision if you have the streaming device and TV which will support them. The first two eps almost seem to have been chosen so they can play up Eugene Levy's reluctance to be an adventurous traveler. He talks a lot about being uncomfortable or not liking when it's too cold or hot or just doing things out of his comfort zone. So in Finland, he goes ice fishing and is invited to jump into a frozen lake for instance. Or in Costa Rica, he goes on a night safari where they come across snakes and insects. He talks about all the dangerous creatures in the jungle. Says he did not like the night safari and probably wouldn't do it again. The show isn't food-centric but Eugene says he isn't an adventurous eater. He does try things like reindeer. But even though he's in the Finland wilderness (Lapland) or the Costa Rica jungle, he's staying at these very expensive resorts, which in some cases cost well over $1000 a night, so he does get some gourmet meals and they show the food but nothing like in Searching for Italy or some other shows. In the Venice episode, he stays at the Gritti Palace, with a room on the Grand Canal. But he does go to a bacaro to try cichetti, says he likes it. Of course he has dinner in the hotel's expensive restaurant. There are a couple of articles about the show, as he does a press tour. Levy says Apple kept pitching travel shows and he was resistant but then they came up with this Reluctant Traveler theme, where he'd do things he normally wouldn't. Says he mostly stays in the hotel, around the pool, so even walking around in Venice to these small neighborhood bars is also outside his comfort zone.
