That judge was strict. One of the racers said that if you waited too long, the leaves became limp and couldn't be used to wrap around the buds and get approve by the judge. So it appears most or all of them had to go into the bog more than once. I don't think the racers understood that the market task involved phonetically spelled Thai word in English. Oh and the team that got eliminated, they meant to do the pomelo task but the taxi took them to the market and they felt they had to do that rather than take more time to go to the canals. Kind of a bad deal, like the taxi dropped them right about the same time as the other team, as if their taxi was following the other taxi.

Yeah it was a nice story. Especially a couple of the players who shared their love of the men's club with their fathers, including the one who apparently committed suicide. The other father was a former player who was captain of the team when it was relegated over 10 years ago to it's current status and he was being accosted over it by some of the fans in town. Must have been tough, especially if he was out in public with his young daughter when those confrontations happened. There is certainly a dark side to the avid fandom that this show has been celebrating. Yes passionate fans can also be cruel, especially if alcohol is in the mix, and we know for instance that when the Super Bowl is played, it's one of the most busiest days for domestic abuse calls and hotlines.

Maybe she doesn't dress like that when she's not showing properties on HHI. For one thing, HHI seems to like to shoot when it's sunny, which isn't that common in the Netherlands or some of the other places. So more reason for her to dress for warmer weather. She once jumped in a canal on one of the episodes so she's probably doing things for TV that she wouldn't do for normal clients. -
All 6 episodes of season 3 are available. Really good season, it starts with a montage showing that after they kissed at the end of season 2, they were together but with his busy schedule, they drifted apart and they separated. Then it starts 2 years later, where they will run into each other for the first time since the breakup at Kate and Ian's wedding. Turns out Tom still has some complicated feelings for Jessie, even though he's now engaged to another film star. He surprises her with a kiss at the end of the wedding reception party. I was initially skeptical of the premise, they break up after being together for awhile and now they may be drawn to each other again? How many times can they go through these on-off, on-off cycles? In fact a season 3 was a surprise, the end of season 2 had the movie ending, they go off for the happily ever after. But the idea was to show what happens after they ride off together into the sunset. Matafeo is the star of the show, just terrific at playing this funny, smart character, who's rarely at a loss for words, who just wins over friends and men with her easy chat. But she shows real vulnerability in a couple of scenes, when uncharacteristically she's unable to continue with her breezy chats. The end of the season doesn't quite end the way one might expect and probably with 6 episodes, it feels like an abrupt turn. Tom tells Clem his fiancee that he kissed Jessie on his wedding day. But without much explanation, he tells her that he loves her not much longer. That's after saying that he still loved Jessie. It makes sense, it would be absurd for Tom and Jessie to get together yet again. Interview with Rose Matafeo. https://www.theguardian.com/stage/2023/aug/12/rose-matafeo-starstruck-interview

The Utrecht house hunters wanted room for their dogs, bikes and his sneaker collection. She really puts up with his wants. As a bike engineer, they probably have more than a couple of bikes at the house? Seems like Floor didn't warm up to them as much as she did with other house hunters. -

I agree but I think some people are responding to the poll numbers where they would have questions about whether they think Biden could perform the duties of the office and a majority of respondents say no even though he's doing the job now. It's pure ageism. And of course double-standard for Trump, who's clearly mentally compromised compared to where he was 20 years ago Then again who isn't that is over the age of 55-60? -
Yeah I'm suspicious, both of these women were pretty low-drama in their previous seasons, at least about work. Yes Natalya did get cross later because she had busted her butt all season only to see Tasha preoccupied with boyfriend drama all season and Kyle never working, just having laughs with the guests. How convenient, they had them sit at the lounge facing each other to get into it. Natalya seems like she'd at least see how Tumi managed before speaking up, not when they just met and Tumi expressed an opinion about setting up the cutlery and the glassware differently. Come on, nobody is going to war over such trivialities. Deck crew did well so far. But they're all horny? Haleigh flashes her tits, Luka and Lara are already hovering over Natalya, though they're going to play up the boy-girl drama aspect so Lara will set her sights elsewhere. Jessika is also DTF apparently from previews. So it's going to be the same formula, Luka already alluded to the hot tub parties where he will see Natalya's ass -- and in other contexts.

I've enjoyed the series but it occurred to me that you don't really see the usual smallness in any large group of people. Very few rivalries -- maybe Willy and Jackie in earlier seasons? -- no jealousies. The kids instead of rolling their eyes at the elders, hold them in utmost reverence, no equivalent of "OK Boomer" on the reservation? Makes me wonder if this is too rosy or nostalgic look at life there. What you have is just a lot of quirky people, mostly getting along, nothing but love and kindness. In a way it's like Northern Exposure though I don't recall how that show ended. Can it be that good? Maybe, but we know about high unemployment, alcoholism, etc. and other stresses on reservations which would test this social cohesion shown on Reservation Dogs. Elora tells Bear she's leaving for college but she's going to come back every weekend. For her sake, she should not follow up on that plan but spend time on campus and socialize with other students there. She isn't going to college to return to the reservation with her degree. She would get a job outside the reservation and have a life elsewhere. Otherwise, why go to college at all? Well with her mother gone, she no longer had family there so are they suggesting that she wouldn't have gone to college if her mother was still alive? Bear's mother is also leaving the reservation, for a job with double the money and more security. Should be a pretty easy decision but she agonized over it, because she was leaving Bear behind. I don't know what percentage of kids born and raised on reservations are able to leave, whether for college or jobs. But it seems like the default for these characters is to stay, follow the paths of their parents and the elders. They're very young but they tied their identities to the Rez Dogs. I'm not saying every kid should aim to go to college, climb that socioeconomic ladder. But maybe the better way to frame it would be to try to avoid job insecurity and not having options about what kind of work to do, where to live, etc. Maybe Elora graduates, finds a successful career but never find the same love and support she had before leaving. Maybe she will have to keep visiting like Teenie. Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan speculated that Harjo planned only two seasons, the kids go out to CA and some of them don't return, suggesting that a they make it out. But he was persuaded to do this third season and he made it about community.

Bill just wants both sides to get along, grope each other. And you know, we've made progress, both panelist and Bill agreed that affirmative action is no longer needed because it's 2023! Surprised they didn't cite how rich Oprah and Lebron James are. Too bad nobody wanted to check black enrollment at college compared to 30-40 years ago or black household income and unemployment rates, black percentages in the executive suites. Oh but 45% of corporate boards are women. So no more gender pay gap I bet, ergo no patriarchy! Sure women's bodily autonomy is being taken away, the biggest news on the political landscape for the past 1-2 years, but half of corporate board members are women! There's plenty of evidence of Trump's decline, even back in 2016, people were comparing his speech in general (not just public speeches) from a decade or two ago. Bill is fine with amplification of Biden's decline first by progressives in 2020 and ever since by Republicans. -
It's probably an artificial constraint, only 6 teams on the first flight, to reward those who figured out the anagram and navigated to LAX faster than the others. Flying from the US to Thailand is one of the longest flights in the world. Only a couple of direct flights but more that connect through some city in eastern Asia. There are other airlines which serve this route so there might have been other flights to get more of the teams to Bangkok faster than that second flight.

Sorry I meant to type Michelle.

Lisa was shook when she found out that Danny could leave for LA. Danny becoming attached to Daisy so quickly may be a sign that he really didn't want to leave either. So she just couldn't quit Danny for the one night she was in the sleep clinic. Maybe it's more of an addiction to devices or the dopamine from FaceTime that they can't give up more so than insomnia. Or we're suppose to believe they're into each other, unwilling to admit it and that's the main addiction.

It might not have made a difference but Michaela voted for Chris instead of Tori. She’s worried Tori might win a Daily again and throw her in. But there’s a good chance that she will be voted into the elimination next time, though the vets could vote for one of the 3 black Survivor women instead of sending her in vs. Cassidy. As for putting Fessy in, you know that he will get Hall Brawl or pole wrestle in the elimination. Though it was funny, he was counting on his third Daily win and saying he’s been playing football and this is what I do. Cory did Cory also play football, he wrestled in the 8th grade! He did well to escape Fessy near the out of bounds and get Fessy to go over.

Were there convincing displays of affection between Austen and Olivia last season? I can't recall any but I don't remember much of last season.

Were the brother and the sister the only team from the first flight to fall behind flight 2 teams?

More like something out of Unreal, a scripted show about a reality show which is a copycat of The Bachelor. The main characters are producers, an executive producer who pressures her underlings to deliver ratings by delivering drama. So the producers are young women who are struggling financially and they gaslight the women appearing on the show within the show. They get in their ear and say things like "you deserve this (to win prize of the season, the bachelor whose affections all these women are vying for)" and manipulate them into being emotional on camera, revealing personal secrets, etc. But the producers themselves are being emotionally manipulated in order to deliver results.

Yeah I was going to mention that. No Krogers out here in the west. Maybe they have superstores where they also sell household goods including some furnishings? But I don't get how many times people can buy pillows. The SC fan base can't be that big and only a small portion of it would bother to buy pillows because it's associated with the show. So once they sell to the viewers who are inclined to buy those pillows, who else is there to buy? Then again, I don't have extra pillows on my bed or sofas. When I go to hotels, these extra pillows are more hinderances, I have to put them off the bed in order to sleep, though I guess they give you a choice of different sized pillows to avoid neck strain. But it's more for decoration, like the smaller ones don't have a pillow case so they're not meant to be slept on.

Ever since Laguna Beach, reality shows are filmed more like scripted shows and movies, with professional hair and makeup and the kind of lighting you'd get in film and TV. Contrast that to the first reality shows, it was handheld cameras chasing the cast members, wherever they went. So when they set up scenes, they can do multiple takes, like TV and movies. They may not work off written scripts but they're probably being prompted to say certain things in each scene. Because it costs real money to set up cameras and lighting, do blocking so that the cast members are framed exactly the way they want. So they can't just have the cast wing it and hope they get some scenes which have enough drama to make the final cut. That is where producers earn their money, making sure to produce "good" scenes which they believe will spark and sustain viewer interest. Whether they're right or wrong, it's usually boy-girl drama that they rely on to keep viewers tuning in. So they will try to shoot scenes that heighten this drama and they are going to do as many takes as necessary to get the right convos. That might mean the cast members have to try different lines and keep doing takes without flubbing the words -- in real life, people misspeak or just use words incorrectly when they're just having a conversation. But we don't get that on reality shows because they massage the convos and make sure the point they want to convey in particular scenes are executed. It's not like they shoot and do one take and figure they can go back and re-shoot. Reshooting means having the crews come out and set up again, the cameras, lights, etc. Redoing set ups probably is more costly so better to keep doing many takes from the first set up.

Anna Leigh was fearless on that tightrope but she's tiny and her father may not be able to keep up. Looks like after the anagram separated the good ones from the bad ones, the taxi lottery reset the order when they landed in Bangkok. Did the gay couple knock out the knife task in less than 30 minutes? Because it seems like none of them would be able to do it faster than the 30-minute massage, not to mention the massage place seemed much closer when they got the Detours than the place where they'd have to do the knife thing. The brother and sister team, you knew they were going to be in trouble when neither of them could decide right away which one would do the tightrope: "you do it, no you do it, no you do it ..." And apparently they kept trying to finish the knife task rather than cutting their losses and switching right away. You can't tell with editing though maybe the mother and daughter team got to the massage place way later than the brother and sister got to the knife task. It will be interesting to see how puzzles and other mental tasks trip up the teams. The anagram may be a bad sign for many of the teams.

Most of the episode was about something that Taylor at the end says never happened, not even a drunken kiss. She entertained having a relationship with Austen? Wow stop the presses! Are they going to keep going on with this or is this the end of this fake story? All these scenes could have been shot in Bumfuck or some random drab suburb. They spend most of their time in some bar. They gave up on Charleston as lending some unique character to this show other than some exterior shots in between the scripted scenes. BTW, neither Taylor nor Olivia seem to have significant jobs but they drive very nice cars anyways. Again I recall an earlier season when everyone on the cast was driving BMWs, like the show cut a good deal with a local dealer for loaners or leases. Venita just whipped up that garden party. Yeah like it wasn't totally catered, maybe a couple of thousand to some local caterer since there were a few Veuve Cliquot bottles. But sure, everyone dresses up for a soiree held outside in the middle of the day.🙄

Even middle aged gay guys have midlife crisis sports cars? There are nice places to drive in Spain though, so maybe it's worth the hassle. Good price if the lifestyle is as good as advertised. At least the weather should be great except maybe at the height of summer. -
Makes me think of visiting Liverpool. Second episode was just one short different segments, no unified theme.

Once stayed in Amsterdam apt. which had a separate WC with a small, I mean small sink inside. Idea was to wash your hands right after using the toilet but this tiny sink wasn’t up to the job. It was approximately 7 inches by 5 inches maybe? It had a slim profile so that it didn’t jut out too much from the side wall of the WC or else normal sized adults couldn’t squeeze by to reach the toilet or leave. You couldn’t really lather up your hands and fully rinse off the lather. In that case a full sized sink outside the WC might be better. -
Yeah I forgot about that. I'm not surprised that Ava has more chemistry with Grace than with Holly. They did show her spending a lot more time with Grace and she was with Grace at some key moment I think. Still, it's odd that right after Ava went to Brighton with Holly after Holly convinced her to be spontaneous. Then again, I guess Holly probably moving there tipped the scale for Ava to realize whom she loved.

I'm a little more sympathetic to Julia, the painter. She can't pay NYC rents so she went to Cambodia. Looks like she really felt at home, like it would be a place which would inspire her. So she's still pursuing the dream instead of getting a regular job. She said she may live there the rest of her life. Did she scope out the market potential for selling her paintings? Seems like she had a pretty good idea that it was possible, that there were exhibitions and some number of buyers. She told the realtor that it takes hundreds of hours for her to do a painting, so charging thousands seem to be based on what she was able to sell in NY. The question is can she find enough buyers in Cambodia. Plus how do you know if her style is going to be in fashion for her to keep being able to sell and support herself just from painting. She has to do some yoga lessons on the side. It would have been interesting to see if the new surroundings influenced her paintings. As for her demands, they seem unreasonable given her budget. I would not want a wet bathroom either. Did she make up her requirements and budgets? She said she'd been to Siem Reap many times before making this move so she might have scoped out the market. Then again, the place she chose was probably the one she was already living in. So HHI might have shaped her list of asks and the budget. The other two choices were in less expensive neighborhoods.
