  1. No she wasn't. It was 4 months later supposedly. Looks like he wasn't into it.
  2. Pizza plot doesn’t pass the smell test. No way there would be a profit in making frozen pizzas in Italy and shipping it to the US. If he wanted to help out the old man financially, why not just give him the $10 million for the ovens? Or buy a few more restaurants? Instead he’s going to rely on what’s his name from The Wired to go into the frozen pizza business? Italian pizzas are different than NY pizzas and ovens are different but wood-fired ovens are not that unique while NY pizza is linked with charcoal ovens. Also some NY pizzerias tout the water. In any event, seems ridiculous, hedge fund titans fighting over gourmet frozen pizza, which has to be a pretty small business relatively speaking. I haven’t seen Frank Grillo in anything else but I just heard him interviewed where he talked about his diet and exercise regimen. Seems to be the thing he’s known for, being ripped. So he seems to be more of an actor Bro than an actor. Fitting because the Tanner character is kind of a painter Bro. And Bobby and Rags are hedge fund Bros and the creators are producer or showrunner Bros. If not for Wendy and Taylor, his show would be overpoweringly Bro-ish, though Wendy is also boss lady Bro at times. And it appears Taylor is going to go vengeance Bro on Axe. Connerty tried so hard to flip Taylor, he must be cursing in prison. Of course they’re never going to take down Bobby, since he’s at least a co-lead if not the lead of the show. But they have to build up for a big showdown among several main characters. This isn’t the first time Axe has pissed people off or made enemies. Why should this time be any different as he gets richer and richer, usually at other people’s expense? Are we suppose to believe that Wendy carried that sketch Tanner did of her with her all times? Unfolded? Now the scrunched up sketch is a trophy for Bobby since he caused them to break up. Because apparently, hunky fake Jackson Pollock is not the choice for Wendy if it’s between him and Bobby.
  3. Has Maxine been in other Australian cities or just Brisbane? Seems like she was kind of thirsty for the HH. They had her play the role of the friend and the agent in this one, with them kayaking together for the little scenes of the HH doing something in the new city. Yeah he's not a good negotiator. Must have really signaled that he'd do anything to move to Australia and the employer took advantage.
  4. I wonder if Fessy would bring up that the food is not halal so it's against his religion for him to eat it.
  5. Those meetings in the salon, purely for show, the TV show that is. So was this firing. Lexi should have been fired after the hot tub incident. Instead the producers let that cancer fester on board for however more charters, to milk the drama. She got physical with a couple of other cast members that night and now Sandy gets that everyone else hates her? Then she tells Lexi she's a "terrific" person and a "good" person, asks her for a hug after telling her she's fired. Really? Producers aren't worried about her looking ridiculous? Then this whole dressing down of Malia. Yeah Malia should have been more insistent, not just take David's word. But it gave Sandy an excuse to stir up drama. Sandy wants to talk about professionalism and doing things by the book. Screaming obscenities at the bosun and in the presence of other crew is all about TV, nothing to do with how things are done on ships. As for Mat, if he wasn't drunk when he said he would tell Sandy it's her or me, he should have stuck to his guns and said "I won't work with her any more" but for whatever reason he wants to stay on the boat. And I don't recall if he used the word "ultimatum" but Lexi labeled it that way so he was screwed. Two more charters he'd miss so that's at most $3000-4000 in tips which is a lot for a week of work. Katie may regret not bringing Delaney back but if she had to supervise her while trying to do a lot of work herself, it would slow her down.
  6. I thought the big names who were fired had to do with things they did or said on social media which got them in trouble, like accusing a black member of a crime? This article says the show had to tread a fine line between keeping on toxic personalities who caused drama on the show which helped the ratings and trying to overlook certain racist behavior. https://variety.com/2020/tv/news/jax-taylor-fired-vanderpump-rules-racist-1234691873/ I binged the first 2 or 3 seasons and then stopped because it seemed so way over the top and calculated to offend. So I don't know about the cast from later seasons but some of these originals are the ones who propelled the show?
  7. In relative terms, such as median income relative to other groups, particularly whites, I'm not sure blacks are better off than they were decades ago. Same for other measures such as university enrollment. We know that several states have tried to restrict voting in black areas, such as reductions in polling stations. They're also trying to require voter ID, which impacts some black voters more than voters of other groups.
  8. Actually some of the states prevent travel from other states. For instance, Western Australia, where Perth is located, has low case rates so they don't want visitors from New South Wales, which includes Sydney. NSW has high case rates. Overall, Australia has done much much better in terms of total cases, hospitalizations and deaths than US or Europe. But they have restricted travel in/out of Australia and between their states. It's unlikely they would allow an American TV show to film there until they reached a high percentage of vaccination and they've relaxed travel rules for their own citizens. Some estimates say the whole country may reach 80% of all eligible people to be fully-vaccinated in November or December.
  9. Being panned in early reviews. https://www.rottentomatoes.com/tv/american_rust/s01/reviews?type=top_critics First two episodes are available to stream and on demand. But not sure it’s worth the time.
  10. Yeah the only effect of pointing out that obese people have worse outcomes is to beat them up for something they can’t change in the short term. Or for that matter, the long term because they’ve been told about chronic conditions and the dangers of diabetes for decades but only a small percentage are able to lose a lot of weight and keep their weight down. It’s pointless to harangue them about it because it’s not just a matter of people deciding they’re going to lose weight or we wouldn’t have as much as 40% of the population be considered obese. What it does is encourage “normal people” to think this virus is mainly a problem for the obese and thus you don’t need the vaccine — Joe Rogan telling his audience if you’re young and fit don’t get the vaccine — or comply with NPIs to minimize transmission. George Will says race relations are great because the referees of SEC football games are black and 60 years ago, black players couldn’t play in the SEC — actually I think it may have been the late ‘60s. 🙄 Yeah what does the fact that white nationalists are overt about their program say about race relations? Or that states are passing voting restrictions targeted against black voters, with the Supreme Court hostile to the voting rights laws passed in the ‘60s to protect voting rights for blacks? What do measures of black median incomes compared to whites or black enrollment at universities say? Or the difference in spending for predominantly black schools vs. white schools? Go back to your bow ties George and stop lying or opening your pie hole about things you’re ignorant of.
  11. Kaycee is quiet and low-key. Otherwise she was part of BB alliance and people saw how good she was, including in elimination. Now the way she reacted to Amber -- maybe resentful that she lost to her last season -- she's being more vocal and that's not going to help her.
  12. It sort of suggests that Fox isn't taking her seriously as a political commentator if she's remarking about the looks of political leaders as opposed to more substantive things which could be said about them.
  13. Lately it seems like more hunters with dogs than children so demands for gardens, though I guess hunters with children would also want backyards. The Perth couple it looked like she wanted to mock HH trope of wanting character, cracked the joke about the only character she needed was him twice. Or she just wants to play to the cameras, as one might expect from someone with pink hair. Husband wanted outdoor space as well as additional bed and bathrooms for whenever his daughter visited. I guess in general, Australia is a place to take advantage of the weather.
  14. Sean Duffy resigned from Congress after 4 terms talking about spending more time with family. He joined a Republican Party lobbying firm and appears on Fox a news. Rachel Campos Duffy has also appeared on Fox News. Recently she remarked how much better Kim Jong Un looks better than Joe Biden. Biden is like 40 years older. But she’s getting that TV money for insightful commentary. 🙄
  15. She's being linked with Pete Davidson. Apparently they're making some rom com.
  16. Have they always raced around the world? TAR doesn't really connote around the world. They could maybe design a race which wasn't so reliant on flights shaking up the order depending on how well the racers navigate flights. They they could have a lot of the legs in two adjacent continents like Europe and Africa, where the case rates are low, if the official numbers are to be believed.
  17. CBS plans to air TAR this season. https://deadline.com/2021/09/the-amazing-race-return-cbs-this-season-covid-production-delays-1234829832/ Supposedly in pre-production but Europe is increasing travel restrictions after being fairly liberal over most of the summer. Now I think only vaccinated people are allowed in some countries whereas previously unvaccinated people could submit a negative recent test. Asia never opened up without quarantines at a minimum so unless they plan to have racers hang out for a couple of weeks before they film in those countries, they can't really go to those places. We're still not over the Delta wave and by the time it's over, we could be in for a winter surge as well. So strange timing but maybe they felt they couldn't wait any longer. What if some racers refuse to get vaccinated?
  18. Nany is all “they all want me! They’re all fighting over me!” She’s a willing shield for now. Some of the vet women like Ashley were signaling to Logan not to pick them. Hughie yapped too much but he’s now on a rookie-rookie team. Both the daily and elimination challenges were well-designed again, giving most people a chance. They’re batting for a high average so far. That means when the vets start picking each other off, there will be hall brawl and pole wrestling again. If Fessy goes into elimination and gets Hall Brawl again, you know it’s rigged. It would be cool to have more obstacle course types of challenges but they should be harnessed in case they slip or lose a grip. Even for men, the injury risk of climbing that wall as fast as they can is significant. Next week some stunt driving. Either they were able to get crews to design and build these challenges to Croatia or there must be people good at it already there or nearby. I think these are some of the best daily challenges they’ve had in recent memory. But I don’t know why they don’t just repeat some of the best dailies from past seasons or just make it a variation of previous daily challenges.
  19. The Berlin couple seemed like they were genuinely interested in travel. He'd traveled a lot during college, she never had. She was willing to give up her job in Chicago now that the opportunity presented itself for them to live in Berlin, with opportunities to travel from there. More convincing than most other house hunters talking about how they wanted to give their children exposure to the world or whatever. They seem to specifically reject the one with the most space and highest rent because it wasn't near restaurants and bars. She said they'd never do the large kitchen justice anyways since they just like to go eat out.
  20. Kaley is no longer Kaley Cuoco Cook — or in Italian, Kaley Cook Cook.
  21. Yeah what happened to that? Decided to pretend it didn't exist? Though Prince did mock his cold and lonely apartment. I guess the actor decided to lose the weight? It's probably been 1-2 years since they filmed the original first half of the season? So during the pandemic he decided to lose weight? As for Prince, I don't buy that he wanted that Denmark ambassadorship that much. At most it's a gig for a couple of years but billionaires don't hand over their empires while they play diplomat. I'm sure some very rich donors have gotten ambassadorships but he's been shown as actively running his company. And he screwed over a former business partner who was "troubled" which is how his PR team would characterize him. But what's going to happen, people are going to pull out their money from Prince's funds just because of some bad press? That said, Prince does seem to chase the limelight, like being portrayed as the "good" billionaire. So now he's going to join forces with Chuck to get Axe? Ever since Chuck lost his US Attorney gig and the chance to be governor, he has limited reach at getting Axe. For a time, there was detente but now they're back to the old feud. First half of this season, there was low-intensity war between Bobby and Prince and Chuck was also after Axe but not being overt about it. I don't know if the plan was always to turn this threesome into 2 on 1 war but I guess they don't mind being repetitive and going back to the original rivalry. Wendy when asked says her bonus was $9 million. People on Wall Street do make that kind of money but Axe's success is like surreal, probably beating the market handily, which most hedge funds haven't been able to say for a long time now. Of course they were always doing crooked things like bribing insiders and such. But the way Taylor described it in this episode, it was about grueling analytic work, all for not just money but something something "refinement of success" something. 🙄 Fake Gal Godot was right, Taylor wanted to own her soul. Oh and Tanner as a character gets more ridiculous. He really is fake Jackson Pollock. I don't follow art that closely but pretty sure no other artists of note have tried splash painting since Pollock, since it would be so obvious a ripoff. Anyways it seems like Tanner spends more time at the gym than painting. But he got inspired to have a late-night splash session after hanging out at Axe Capital? Seems like his character is about giving Wendy a love-interest and show another way in which Axe is not just a money grubber but cool as hell. Meanwhile Julianna Marguiles seems to have bailed on the show or had other work. Just when Chuck got slim too!
  22. That couple in the Netherlands, seems like the older guy totally caved to the other one putting up with a long commute. They needed a big yard so they wouldn’t have to walk them in a public park? I thought dog owners took their dogs out for walks so they wouldn’t shit all over their own properties. Aren’t dogs sometimes substitutes or preparation for children? Well they have the room for them.
  23. To the extent that BD shows always attract cast who have been in yachting, there must be some forums or social media where they share that doing the BD shows doesn't hurt their prospects for continued employment. There are lifers or those who aspire to advance and become a captain some day. Malia has said it more than once. She's joining in the hot tub parties and so on but she's not getting out of control. Then you have a lot of the entry level people, who are just seeing how much they like it. Mzi doesn't have much experience, but eager to learn. He may have to do some damage control, like saying he was encouraged to drink but he won't be like that on real yachting jobs.
  24. Finally got to watching this. Different from any shows I've seen in awhile. Kind of like The Missing except the person they're searching for isn't a child but a young woman. It's not clear whose POV is represented. First, Laeticia is shown coming home late at night on her scooter and someone asks her where she's been, does she know how late it is, etc. Then a few months later, her twin sister Jessica discovers Laeticia's scooter on the ground outside the home where they lived. Eventually the police are called in and increasingly, they're the focus as they interview a lot of witnesses who saw her during the day before her disappearance. The police characters are very low-key, professional. You don't see their back stories or their personal lives. Or how they banter with each other. At least not on this introductory episode. All the witnesses give just parts of the story of how Laeticia spent her last day before her disappearance, as if they all had different pieces of the puzzle. They eventually establish that she was spending time with some older man and that she left work late, breaking her usual habit, to meet up with this guy. In the mean time, the police find letters that Laeticia had written about leaving their foster home and mentioned dying. The main detective asks Jessica what Laeticia might have meant. Then they show flashbacks to when they were toddlers and then when they were about 4 years old. They had a monster for a father, who threatened to throw one of them off a balcony because he couldn't tolerate their crying. Then he forces his way into the apartment that they lived in with their mother, proceeds to brutally rape her, beat her up. The girls hear it happening in the other room. Well one of them does while the other seems to be sleeping. The police apprehend Tony Meilhon and find blood stains in the boot of his car. He confesses that they hung out, had sex and then she left but he chased her and accidentally bumped into her scooter. Then he put her in the trunk of his car, got home, panicked and threw her off the bridge. So in this single episode, a mystery is presented and the police get a confession. But the detective thinks most of the confession is a lie, other than Laeticia is likely dead. In the previews they apparently don't find the body so it seems they will sketch out more back story, as the intro credit sequence shows several young girls playing Laeticia and Jessica at different ages.
