  1. I’ve no idea? It does seem more Lifetime than Netflix.
  2. Your not alone re Dana Sue the bartender although I think she’s a chef. Everything about her so far screams self righteous.
  3. Ginnifer Goodwin joins Eliza Coupe in Pivoting. https://deadline.com/2020/05/pivoting-ginnifer-goodwin-star-fox-comedy-pilot-1202939745/ Goodwin’s Jodie is Amy’s (Coupe) close friend, who is also coping with the loss of Coleen. Raised by an overprotective mother, Jodie is herself a parent of three, married to a suffocating husband who gives her no room to breathe and be herself. She finds the excitement, attention, and affection she craves in the form of an affair with her gym trainer. Tommy Dewey also stars.
  4. I thought the mother was an over the top villain in the book too. Like she had zero characterisation except to hate or be cruel to Marianne. It just felt like more of a plot device to push Marianne being a victim then anything g else.
  5. Second episode. I feel I'm right in my judgement so far of Dana Sue. She continues to grate by lashing out at everyone around her. I like the other two though. I think it's just that I only know him from Grey's as Mathew, April's dull as dishwater fiancée, but I can't take Justin Bruenig seriously as a love interest. Jesus, Noreen, surely it's common sense that if you've had an affair with a married man, he's left his kids and the entire town knows and is talking about it, you don't start trying to publicly mother the kids at school events while their mother is sitting there. Are people that stupid?
  6. Then as per previous poster said, I’m also not worried about it. Simply stating an opinion in a discussion thread.
  7. Justin Bruenig - Mathew - is on Sweet Magnolias on Netflix. He's the cool coach. I could easily imagine Sarah Drew in the role of the lead character.
  8. It's more then a little cliche but the cast is quite good. The writing is pretty cringey but I'm hoping they'll rise above it. Impressions from episode one: Maddie is the token lead character - sweet, been screwed over by her husband who is an out and out jerk. Chris Klein has such an asshole look about him. I already predict he'll be trying to win her back by the end of the season. Noreen is one of the more interesting characters. I haven't seen Jamie Lyn Spears in years. I thought she was pretty good in this. I almost felt sorry for her despite her being the "other" woman. Dana Sue strikes me as though she's going to be the self righteous friend. Like, if her kid wants to take pictures let her. Is it not better then boozing or drugs? Especially since she's good at it. Helen was the only character who I felt that we didn't get any insight into her personal life. Who's the actress playing Maddie's mother? I could have sworn it was Blythe Danner. Anyone else watching?
  9. Thought it might be good to have a thread to keep track of all the actors other projects. Heather Headley has a main role in Sweet Magnolias - a Netflix soap opera - it's weird seeing her in a role where she's not a badly written villain.
  10. It would be a lot more interesting if he was a plant.
  11. Oh yessss I was wondering why it looked so weird there. Agreed but mainly because there's not much nuance to the character. Cryer is brilliant in the role and looks to be having the time of his life but there's only so many times you can see him be Evil and One Step Ahead of Everyone before it gets boring. Having said that I've no interest in seeing another side to him as I think Lena already fills the role of Luther with a Heart amongst Other Issues on the show. I don't know if I think he'd fit in Superman and Lois as I think he's too affiliated with Supergirl at this point but given he's meant to have bigger history with Superman it could be interesting.
  12. So I've only watched Game of Thrones in the last six weeks. I never watched it while it aired, was never part of the hype. Knew who the actors were but didn't follow any of them. I don't follow boards discussion on it so have no idea if this is unpopular or not, I just think it could be unpopular from the feedback I get from friends and family when discussing. I just finished season 7 last night (I know how it ends just from not being invincible from spoilers and the absolute fury that followed on from the final episode. My UO is - I can't stand Daenerys. I respect what she's done given where she was at the start of the series but overall I don't find her to be much different to Cersei. Not as hardened and a bit sweeter but her mission statement is more or less the same. She'll make big speeches about how she's more noble than any previous rulers and has the peoples best interest at heart... just don't question or disagree with her as you'll be burnt by her dragons. Cersei is the worst but at least she owns it. She doesn't pretend to be anything else. Daenerys genuinely thinks she's a cut above everyone else and has no self awareness to how dictorial she comes across. She's surrounded by yes men who are all madly in love with her. Also, I roll my eyes everytime the music swells and she rides in on those fucking dragons. It was great the first time but by the end of season seven she's doing it every episode and the music/scene is still playing as though it's the first time. Also, it should be a drinking game for how whenever she or someone else says her full, five minute name either by introduction or just midway through one of her self indulgent speeches about how brilliant or different a leader she is. I saw it with Snow, why people would follow him or look up to him as a leader. I never did with her. I know how it ends with her so I can't say I'm disappointed. I'd have been more frustrated had she gotten the throne. A brilliant character by the way in terms of story, just couldn't stand her.
  13. Agreed it is very funny. My rewatch has gone a strange way. My opinion has changed a little since I originally watched it. Jackie is my least favourite character. She's not funny for the most part, her lines are just "I'm so pretty, because I'm so great or some variation of that", I'm all for a self obsessed character if they're funny but she was just boring and didn't add anything. She also tended to be the most serious of the gang in her storylines with Stephen and even Kelso but Kunis just was not (and still is not IMO) that good an actress nor was the show that good at the serious stuff so I ended up cringing for her a lot of the time. Having said that I still like her and would hate the show without her, I just remember being obsessed with her and her/Hyde when it aired first and it's funny how time changes. I still love season five for her and Hyde but even at that some of it is ruined by Kunis trying to act. I'm still so gutted about how it ended for them both as they were such a funny couple. Donna, who I disliked in original airing, I actually really enjoy. I hope Prepon had thick skin as she took a lot of hits about her height, size. It definitely wouldn't hold up now. I still love her and Eric together but I felt Donna could hold her own and I enjoyed her storylines with other characters as well as Eric. I don't think Prepon was a great actress but I think similar to Kutcher she just grew on me as the character as the show went on. The fact that the actress could barely get through a scene without stifling her laughs became a character quirk. Kelso and Fez were my favourites by season six. I think the best thing for Kelso was getting him away from Jackie as the storylines he got from being single, the pregnancy etc were really funny. Kutcher was not great I earlier seasons but by season six he really comes to the forefront along with Fez who I can barely get through a scene without bursting into laughter. There's a noteable shift in season six where I noticed Eric starts to have more storylines with his parents/Donna than with Kelso, Hyde and Fez. The latter three (Kelso in particular) start to come to the forefront in the "gang cause mischief" style storylines. Also, Laurie's recast remains one of the worst recasts. I really think they should have just written her off again rather then recast as the actress was terrible and just couldn't pull it off. It was so distracting.
  14. Ok but the last series only aired last year didn’t it? I’m only watching the show now so don’t know for sure when it finished. I think with a franchise as big as GOT it’s going to be very difficult for the main actors/characters to separate themselves from the epic characters most of them played. I think they just need to try and let time pass. Probably not easy if they’re being offered the world. I think going out and starring in a blockbuster can put be dangerous as most people are Going to be disappointed to see them not playing the GOT character (unreasonable yes but fans aren’t often reasonable) and if the movie doesn’t do well people say it’s because of the actor. Khaleesi is actually the only role I’ve liked Emilia Clarke in and even then I moreso tolerated her. I find her insufferable in everything else. The first film I ever saw her in was that brutal Terminator one and I just haven’t enjoyed her anything since.
  15. As for Game of Thrones.. to be fair to the actors it’s only been a year. It was an epic series that went on for 8 years. Madden, Momoa and whoever else exited the series early on or weren’t as big of Characters as the ones who were there the until the end. I think they’d need a Bit longer to separate themselves. It’s difficult for the audience to see them as anything other than the GOT character’s they played And any role they pick will be vulnerable to be torn apart for that very reason.
  16. With Reese I think it was that she kept looking for the Next Oscar Role and ended up with a string of lacklustre movies as a result.
  17. I’m not really big into the whole Eve redemption arc. I know her mother was in danger but it’s just not cutting it for me.. I like actress but I’m not really interested in keeping her around beyond this season.
  18. A romantic drama following three lifelong best friends, Sweet Magnolias is based on the popular series of books by Sherryl Woods. Set against the charming small-town backdrop of Serenity, South Carolina, Maddie (Joanna Garcia Swisher), Helen (Heather Headley), and Dana Sue (Brooke Elliott) deal with the complexities of juggling family, relationships, and careers. Making her return to TV as a series regular is none other than Jamie Lynn Spears, playing new Serenity resident Norreen Fitzgibbons. It's been over a decade since Spears headlined the Nickelodeon series Zoey 101. I also requested a forum for the show. https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/108943-sweet-magnolias/?tab=comments#comment-6134232
  19. I think it’s scheduled to air in the coming months? It was mentioned in the Upfronts.
  20. It did in the first season but had very low traffic which I assume is why they changed it.
  21. The second film is why I think Cattrall was justified in her decision to move on from the franchise. It was obvious that they just wanted her there as they needed all the girls for the film. They absolutely ruined Samantha in the second film. Her whole storyline was so embarrassing and just there for cheap laughs.
  22. This is why I just can’t with any of Andys relationships. They are written so badly and the writers lose interest midway through. She was with Jack at the beginning of season one - she then sleeps with the cop guy who’s name I can’t even remember and they spent all of season one building them up. They then lost interest in him as a main love interest (probably because he wasn’t a fire fighter) and introduced Sullivan who they then spent all last season building up as her love interest only to lose interest in that relationship this season. They’re constantly retooling and nothing seems to stick. Next season I assume we’ll get another love interest while Sullivan fades out. i don’t really like Sullivan so losing him doesn’t bother me but it annoys me he and his relationship was forced down our throats for an entire season only for them to change their minds on it. Similarly Jack and Maya who I thought were really likeable last year were retconned into nothingness. The show starts things and then just drops them. There’s no character or writing commitment whatsoever. It’s just awful writing.
  23. I think I’m just lost because I watch the show sporadically throughout the season and now I’m binge watching the last few episodes. I thought Eve was always being blackmailed even in the old world so no version of her is fully evil? God I’m so confused..
  24. Not only that but she seemed to be their favourite friend. Like Carrie as Brady’s godfather? The fuck?! I always thought the women had nicer moments with each other as the series went on. In reality Carrie would be that self obsessed friend in the group everyone always bitches about when she’s not there.
  25. https://www.tvfanatic.com/2020/05/chicago-pd-set-to-kill-off-pivotal-character/amp/?fbclid=IwAR0shgNfB96Vk5CLPGHWkk-9pA2T60D1zU-fK3UQJjmWmK0wrgB1sRDrA1Q just moving this from the media thread so we’re free to speculate a bit more.. At this point I’ve no idea who they’d kill off as they’ve killed/gotten rid of all the older characters bar Hank who they’ll never get rid off and Trudy who i don’t think they’ll lose as she’s so minor now anyway.
