John clearly can’t stand Amma. He’s not trying to get in her pants. He’s saying that eventually she’ll be punished for something she did. My guess? She was probably mean to his sister, he saw her doing something bad to his sister, or he suspects she had something to do with his sisters murder. Amma antagonizes John because he’s probably about the only male in town I’m that 14-25 age group that her “magic” doesn’t work out. She seems to have all of the other boys her age and older wrapped around her finger.

Well, it was definitely rape. And Camille, unable to deal, rationalizes and makes jokes, drinks, and cuts. Props to the guy who tried to apologize. This episode also proves that Camille has serious boundaries issues and that Amma is completely fucked up. That girl is a straight up sociopath. John telling Amma that he’s watching her was not flirting; he seems suspicious of her and actually seems to hate her. And Adora gets Alan to do her dirty work when it comes to Camille. Wow.

Rachel McAdams is great in everything, but I don't think SMG is a strong enough actress to pull off a character like Camille. I still remember Cruel Intentions, she was so bad in that. Buffy was a character that really worked for her but I've been unimpressed in such about everything else I've seen her in; AMC being the lone exception. Good catch on the Calhoun-Preaker thing. I guess Adora really was an unwed (probably teenage) mother. Given her hostility toward Camille, I'm wondering if perhaps Adora too endured the town's rite of passage (i.e. members of the football team having their way with female classmates), and birthed Camille 10 months later. Very interesting indeed.

Also I’m pretty sure it was implied that she lost her virginity during that incident. Most inexperienced teenage girls aren’t going to have sex with multiple boys / men the first time they have sex. The understanding I got from the scene was that it was definitely rape; Camille didn’t consent. She either felt like she couldn’t say no, and just went along with it or they physically forced her. Either way, it’s rape. She puts up a good front and says it was normal and she was a full participant, but look at her life. Clearly, that incident left significant mental and psychological damage. Also as the other posted stated, women who have consensual sex on their own terms with who they want aren’t sluts.

Patricia Clarkson should win all of the awards. She has been amazing. I want to hate Adora but I’m actually just in awe. Adora is a force of nature and no one in that town is her equal, the one exception could be Jackie but I’m not sure. I want to know who Camille’s people are, the Preaker’s. I noticed two things in the flashback: one Adora said the Calhoun’s (her people) had the house but the Preaker’s had the money and two, Camille was not included in the photo of the magazine profile of the home, it was just Marian and Adora.

Kendall was driving though. So he was responsible for that kids death. Either way he was going to have to lie on the kid. As soon as Kendall moved to the drivers seat I figured we were going to get a Chappaquiddick scenario, and then the camera panning down the long dark road as Kendall kept taking his eyes of the road......I just thought he was going to hit someone walking in the road. Say you want about dad, but he knows his kids down to their very core. And he was right, Kendall is weak and not that bright.

So Camille was gang raped, damn. She also said Adora was a child when she gave birth to her, I'm guessing Camille was born out of wedlock and Adora later married Alan and had Marian and after Marian's death Amma. Also of note, the camera lingered on the floor when Camille was about to enter her mom's room and when Alan was about to enter. It's clear that Adora rules that house and town with a iron fist. Also, Amma still strikes me as a little sociopath.

An accidental death of a famous pop star is quite different than a murder. And he's right. That's like Homicide / Profiling 101. The assailants usually do exactly the type of things he was talking about: insert themselves in with the investigation, revisit the crime scene or the place they disposed of the body, leave a calling card, or take a momento. It was a bit cliched but very realistic.

So far I’m digging it. And I’m curious to see how it differs from the book. The casting is pretty spot on. I wasn’t sure how all of her scarring and self mutilation would translate to screen but they did an amazing job.

On rewatch I noticed that Delores did take Teddy's brain ball thingy, I think she put Teddy's consciousness into Charlotte 2.0. Just a hunch. Plus it's HBO so some male exec is probably already foaming at the mouth at the prospect of a love scene between ERW and TT. LOL. I'm still confused as fuck when it comes to this season's timeline. Sooooooo confused.
-
I'm hoping Maeve, Hector, and Armistice.
-
I always knew Stubbs was a good guy. LOL. But now I'm wondering, was he a host? He clearly knew Charlotte 2.0 was a host and let her go. Did he know about Bernard the whole time too? And seriously, what the hell with The Man in Black? Is this is all in his head? I'm so confused. Also this show better find a way to bring back Thandie Newton, Rodrigo Santoro, and Ingrid Berdol. Those three are my favs. I have a feeling they'll end up in bags thanks to the bumbling duo.

I don’t think William or Emily were hosts. Ford was clearly taunting William and William fell for it. What better game than to have him so paranoid that he can no longer distinguish what’s real and what’s not and doubts his own existence as a human.
-
Also no sympathy for Emily. She was just as cold hearted as dear old dad. She was ready to send her mom back to "prison" without even a moment of hesitation. That's cold.

People have been talking about Chris and his behavior since the days of Singled Out. I'm not surprised that he's getting boot, there's never just one incident or one issue when it comes to stuff like this. The essay by his ex was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Personally, I've always been in awe of the fact that someone was so little talent was able to parlay said little talent into some high paying well known gigs.

I don't know, I still don't think MIB is a host or a robot. I think he is just a really fucked up human who became obsessed with WestWorld to the detriment of his humanity and his life in the real world. Truthfully, he could totes survive those gunshots (it appears that small caliber rounds were used) as long as they didn't hit any arteries or major organs. I agree that Delores needs to pay for what she did to Teddy; I'm also of the belief that she just might be the true villain of the piece. Also, poor Clementine - always being used as a tool by the corporate overlords.
-
Maeve cannot die! She’s the most interesting character in my opinion and Thandie is definitely the strongest actress on the show. I’m still trying to digest everything that happened in this episode and am about to start a rewatch - my first impression is that it’s Westworld at its best and we need more eppys like this one.

Trish is an idiot. She’s a grown ass woman who used subterfuge to try and become special, because she just cannot stand not being special. She needed serious therapy, I don’t want her to come back as some kind of hero after everything she did in season two. Everything she did was totally selfish, because that’s ultimately who she is. A selfish brat. Yeah she had a bad life but so have lots of people - she had the means to do better and she chose not to. She used Malcolm, someone she knew had his own addiction issues. She lied to Jessica; that shouldn’t go without consequence. I don’t want her to suddenly be a hero in this story. She’s sort of indirectly responsible for Alisa’s subsequent freak-out and every death that occurred after that. She doesn’t deserve to be forgiven without consequence. Ugh.

S02.E11: AKA Three Lives and Counting
ShellsandCheese replied to The Crazed Spruce's topic in Jessica Jones [V]
Yeah! Trish just wants to be special. She’s a narcissist and probably a sociopath. Every episode, I just wanted to be like “stop, what are you doing?”. She’s consumed by a need to be special - and now she’s set off a chain of events that she won’t be able to recover from. Oh and yeah, I felt dirty watching Season One JJ because I find David Tennant so frackin hot. So hot. Did I mention he was hot? -
The sad thing is people like that prison guard are all to common in law enforcement. The guy was a power tripping sadist who had no business being a part of law enforcement. I was waiting all episode for him to go down. Jackass. Disgusting pig of a human being. And I’m sorry but Trish is garbage too. And I can’t believe Mal was so fucking stupid. Sooooo stupid. That tells me he’s not ready to be a PI, he didn’t realize Trish was playing him the whole time.

Yeah. You’re right. Historically Russia, Germany, US, China have all had major doping issues. Maybe, not as audacious as Russia but when it happens on a regular basis, it’s basically sanctioned. There’s the East German swimming program, Russia Track and Field, US Track and Field, Chinese sending underage gymnasts to compete, etc. I would imagine that more people cheat than who do not cheat unfortunately. https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2018/2/14/17003898/olympics-russia-doping-science
-
Probably none. To my knowledge there has never been a doping scandal tied to Men’s Hockey in Russia. The majority of their team are veterans who have previously played in the NHL, have previously played in The Olympics, and/or currently play in the Russian leaugue. I get it. What Russia did in Sochi was beyond the pale but is it shocking? No. Only an idiot would have been surprised and it’s not the first or last time the IOC has had to deal with Federation and State sponsored cheating. What has annoyed the piss out of me is the self righteous hand wringing about it all. Especially considering all of the doping that was going in USA Track and Field just a few years ago - and their was no collective punishment then either. The IOC made the decision to ban The Russian Olympic Committee and to allow Russians without a history of doping to participate. Maybe take it up with the IOC. That being said, that Gold Medal Hockey game was fantastic! Much better without NHL players. I hope they go back to not allowing current NHL players to participate and I wish Olympic basketball would go back to not allowing NBA players and other professional leagues. In fact if we want to get corruption and cheating out of the Olympics, it should go back to be strictly for amateurs, no more official medal counting, just let people compete and take the politics out of it.

Say Yes: Wedding SOS - General Discussion
ShellsandCheese replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Say Yes: Wedding SOS
I'm watching the episode with Stephanie and Adel and I'm torn on this show. Like I just don't know what to make of it. On one hand, I think what the show is doing is nice for the couples but on the other hand, I'm kind of like, if you are too busy to take care of yourself and plan a wedding that does not bode well for married life. -
Eh. I’m not reading too much into it. The world is full of stupid people. They started off doing simple stuff and got in too deep. They couldn’t just destroy Maeve because then top brass would know that they were tinkering with her to begin with. You see how Felix panicked and lost his shit when she went non responsive. They were in over their heads and did something that people who tend to get in over their head have been doing for ages: they dug the hole deeper and deeper to the point where they couldn’t see a way out other than helping Maeve.

Yes! It's because this war should have been over two seasons ago. The showrunner's have never seemed to understand that what works in the graphic novels does not work on the show. TV and Lit are two very different mediums. All of the story lines with major villians (with the exception of Terminus, which ironically enough was a storyline that probably could have lasted a little longer) have been un-necessarily long and tend to veer into "been there done that" territory. There's no dramatic tension which is necessary for this type of story on TV because we all know that Rick is not going to die. We are two episodes in and it's not clear what the point of episode one or two was. What is the group doing exactly? How is this going to help them achieve their goal(s)? Why didn't they just shoot Negan last week and then deal with the rest of the saviors -- many of whom would have buckled after their loss of their leader. It makes no sense.
