  1. Though I remain livid about the treatment of Orlando Jones, I am interested to see how they will expand their telling of Black stories. I am particularly watchful of their depiction of the Orisha, as I am an Aborisha (devotee of the Orisha) and my Mother, Oshun, is now joining the cast. I wasn't sure of the casting but am so far not mad at the way they're choosing to use Oshun in the storyline. It made me clap my hands with glee to see Her and Bilquis together - two African Goddesses of Love, Sensuality, Sexuality, and Beauty. And yes, as is quoted, Oshun is both a lover AND a fighter. I was pleased to see Wale as Shango Kabiyesi and also happy to see Yemonja and Aiye. May my Deities be done well.
  2. Anansi is very much alive, even now. I grew up on His stories and we were never allowed to kill spiders in our household, because they were Anansi, come to tell us something or find/reveal something we had lost.
  3. This Whovian is quite glad to see Mickey in a show, even if it's not one I can watch at the moment.
  4. THANK YOU! My daughter and I were screaming at the TV: "She's not wrong! She's not explaining it well, but she's not wrong!"
  5. The Whovian in me tips my hat to you for this.
  6. LOL! I was there and actually took a picture in the TARDIS (with my friend and co-host). We and my daughter got a picture with Matt Smith. He's the only Doctor I've met besides David Tennant (I'm still swooning, years later).
  7. Latina isn't a race - it's an ethnicity. Carla can be an Afro-Latina. That would still qualify them as a same race couple.
  8. THIS. That change in pitch and tone was because FEELINGS. Feelings got involved, sis. Don't lie.
  9. I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this, but just in case it is: I and a friend have started a new Doctor Who podcast called "Woke Doctor Who". It's all about race and representation (of different sexuality, body type, etc.) in our favorite show. If you want to give it a listen, check us out on Woke Doctor Who or you can search for us in the iTunes podcast app. Thanks!
  10. Those girls don't like Tamar for good reason and until she's willing to accept that, things will never change. We can't wait for other folks to realize their part in the bullshit - we have to change ourselves. I think the sisters are all jealous of Tamar. It's not fair. But jealousy isn't the only issue in this family. Trina was right when she said that Tamar has the nastiest energy in the world. She does and so does Vince. Trina was right about all of that. Tamar is a snot, a loudmouth, a nasty bully and a hothead who speaks before she thinks. That miscarriage reveal was a manipulation. I am heartbroken for her (I know how she feels) but that wasn't fair fighting. Her sisters had valid points and her response was, "I don't have to think about any of that because I just had a miscarriage." Girl. That is awful and so sad but 1) Trina didn't know that when y'all had the argument, and 2) that has nothing to do with the argument. Tamar had valid points with her comments about the food - I agreed with the things she was saying. But she says things in a horrible manner. She should not be shocked that folks have a hard time receiving her. She hasn't met an insult she doesn't like. When she said Trina should have fries and should add salt, those were constructive criticisms. So say them and drop it. Continuing to go on and on, in louder and louder tones, with neck swirls and lip pops and "You're so stubborn" and etc. is just too much. She doesn't know when to stop. It is a mighty show of love that one of her sisters hasn't flown across a table and smacked her lips around to the back of her head like she was Daffy Duck. She's a ball of foolishness. For someone who swears she's on her sisters' side and wants them to win, Tamar can have a weird way of showing it. She didn't have to say that autotune mess about Traci, whether it was true or not. Traci has the least out of all of them. She's trying to make a go of it and this is her chance. Tamar is already successful and a large part of that success is due to her husband (let's be real). Let Traci have her moment and keep your Twitter fingers silent.
  11. I agree. Tamar irritates the hell out of me, but she is not the sole reason that they all have problems with one another. It's clear the sisters find it much easier to blame Tamar than to take any responsibility for their part in the nonsense. Just one example of how Tamar bugs: "I'm from Baltimore!" No, you ain't, girl. You're from Severna Park. We don't claim you, don't be tryna claim us.
  12. Out of all the sisters, Traci and Tamar are the most alike. That's all. They are mirrors for each other and they're always going to have the most problems with each other. They are both loud, extra, overly emotional, and likely to lash out. They hurt each other in the same ways, using the same methods. The only storyline I'm interested in so far is seeing where things will go when their stepmother/father's side chick-turned-wife shows up.
  13. I've been listening and was all, "Whut? Willam and Richard Simmons were friends???" And then: "Of course, Willam and Richard Simmons were friends." It just made complete sense to me. I also love how Willam said, "Whatever, girl. If you don't want to answer anyone's phone calls or hang out anymore, that's your right. You can lead whatever life you want." Although, if you ask me, Richard's housekeeper is holding him hostage.
  14. Shit, I still get annoyed at Baltimore being used for DC and Canada being used for Baltimore.
  15. If you have romantic/sexual attraction to both men and women, you are not a lesbian. You are bisexual/pansexual (if you care to label yourself). If - together - you and your husband engage in activities of a frank and explicit nature with another person, you are not adulterers. You were in the situation together. You might not be monogamous but you're not a cheater. And if you twerk for a man you just met, you're not a whore unless he paid you to do it. And even then, that's your business - make sure you asked for what you were worth. If this is the most these chicks have by way of story line, it's about time to pack it up. And I'm happy I'm not being taped for a reality show because y'all would call me everything but a child of God.
  16. And THIS is why you don't start with airing your ex-BFF's business - because, baby, she knows yours, too! I don't feel one ounce of bad for Kandi now that it's out that she and Todd are fucking Shamea. 1) Shamea fine so...well done. 2) You went all burn it to the ground on Phaedra so don't be affronted when the bitch brings marshmallows for the fire. I absolutely believe Phaedra was ready to move on before Pretty Pollo Went to the Pen and that's just fine since we all now know he had a whole girlfriend on the side. Here's the thing: No matter which way Phae was tipping, the job of the BFF is to support her. Kandi ain't new to tipping seeing as she had a baby with a married man. She's old enough to know that one can be sad about a situation and still happy to see it go. She was trife for that gritted teeth revelation (really, the girl gonna give herself lockjaw) and Phaedra has seen her trife and risen her a double dog dirty. I can't wait to see how this plays out. Let's watch! *chews popcorn with vigor*
  17. Apollo was indeed a felon when Phaedra married him. Dude is still a felon. And Kandi and Todd are defending, befriending, and acting as storage facility for said felon. So... Look, I am here to be entertained. These bitches are battling to the death for our amusement. THIS IS SPARTA!!! (or some shit - mixed metaphors - you get where I'm going with this) It's too exhausting to go through who did what to whom. They all did some nasty shit to one another. I think this is taking it to a new level of gutter. I think it's trifling, but what's done is done. When you rewrite the rules, don't get mad when they apply to you. So if the fact that Kandi was catting around with married men comes up - oh fucking well. If next season Andy 'nem decide it would be great good fun to add Tocha to the Housewives, oh the fuck well! (That sounds like a good idea, Andy! Get some of them XScapers on this bitch. Or Block's head ass and his Jamaican girlfriend.) Let the chips fall where they may.
  18. Every name was made up. Every name was once a bunch of syllables that meant nothing. Until someone attached those syllables to a person and said "These syllables now represent a human being". That's how words work. The dominant culture gets to decide what's "mainstream". That's the only reason why Michael is more "acceptable" than Dontravious or whatever. I come from a Black family. From a long line of Black people. I am proud of that. I am not ashamed that some Black people name their kids things I wouldn't choose for mine. So? I'm sure the person who chose it found it lovely. There's nothing better about Robert than Rashad. Nothing classier about Tyler than Tynesha, other than that we've been told it's so.
  19. Kandi absolutely has discussed Riley's father with her on television before - they aired a clip of it, in fact. Riley said something to the effect of not caring whether her father ever became a part of her life and Kandi cried and said it made her sad to hear that. For good or ill, Riley's mother is famous (and her father is trying to be famous). Riley's life is lived (in part) on camera. Her entire life has been fodder for tabloids. I can't make Kandi's choices as Riley's mother but I do think there is something to be said for getting her side of the story out there to refute that blatant lies Block is telling and I think Riley is old enough to decide how she feels and to speak for herself. My daughter is close to Riley's age (13) and she is quite clear about her feelings where her father is concerned. My daughter isn't on television, of course, but I could see her wanting to make sure her POV was represented.
  20. Kandi gets no benefit of the doubt because she has demonstrated in the past that she has no problem with riding both sides of the fence. I am sure she knew about this woman and that her defense will be that it was something that Todd told her in confidence and she wasn't going to reveal a secret told to her by her husband and that she assumed that Phaedra knew and therefore it wasn't a big deal. I can hear her saying it in my head and even see her saying it with her weird flat-handed gestures. She's gross for this.
  21. All I know is that I have pledged my allegiance to Sheree this season (pending any future bullshit) because we, at the very same moment, went "UNH UNH!" as Porsha strolled into the party. If I had been present, I would've gone to stand by Sheree to sip, side-eye, and make snarky ass comments under our breath.
  22. LOL! I love this. I say this about my grandfather all the time - he was born in 1920.
  23. And lots of times, we don't state the obvious because we don't feel it's required. We've all dealt with it and we know it when we see it. Hence: "Unh huh" and moving on. If we raised a huge stink every single time we dealt with racial profiling, we would never do anything *but* protest.
  24. This whole thing is Tami's fault to begin with. If she didn't like the job Duffey was doing and wanted to fire her as director of the video (which should have been Jazz's job, BTW - Jazz is 19 which is adult), there was a way to do so professionally and that tomfoolery we saw wasn't it. Given that she knows she has a predisposition toward getting loud and buck with people, she should've just sent her an email explaining the reasons why she was being let go, but if it had to be filmed, then there was a better way to handle it. Duffey certainly did not respond in a professional manner, but Tami is the one who took it all the way left when she started pushing Duffey. That was not required and if Duffey had hauled off and punched her dead in the face, it would've been well-earned. At this point, the woman has apologized to Jazz. I thought the apology sounded sincere and Jazz accepted it. The beef shouldn't be between Tami and Duffey if Tami's gripe is that Duffey insulted her daughter. Your daughter has accepted the apology. Duffey has attempted to apologize to you, as well. Any continuing conflama is all on you, Tami. As usual. I hope Duffey takes a chunk out of Tami's ass. And I actually like Tami. I think she's hysterical and extra in a way that I understand. But she needs that ass popped one good time.
