  1. I did a little binge watching after vacation today, and came to this same conclusion. The whole reason these are cold cases is that there has never been enough evidence to go to trial (or know for sure what happened, as in this case.) So maybe just being able to tell the Brenda(?)'s Mom that no, your daughter DIDN'T just run off will give her a little solace. The ex from this episode will have his life changed now that this has aired, and will always be looking over his shoulder. I'm pretty sure he's been feeling pretty confident the last 22 years. Maybe being a little desperate now will cause him to slip up and do something stupid. (or someone else will come forward.) Maybe give the current wife the courage to leave, if she needs to. As for the "forgetful woman", I'm guessing she knows exactly what happened, and is afraid the same thing will happen to her. If she said anything on air, he'd know exactly who and where she was. The comment about chopping Brenda up and feeding her to the pigs was not only horrifying, but probably very possible. (Criminal Minds had an episode like that - very difficult to watch that one.) And I agree with Kelly's comments. I think we were all screaming at the TV! Somewhere there are a 26-year old young man and his younger sister who also saw this. So sorry for them.
  2. And they are STILL all kinds of awesome! Great repeat today.
  3. In honor of Shannon Jones Day (or AngelaHunter Day?! Hmmmmm), our Judge Judy drinking game today is brought to you by the word "ESPRESSO" ! Woot! Lordy, I need a nap after her episode. And 27bored, as much as I love your post, you used entirely too much punctuation. :-) You are very close, though. Hee! Nice job.
  4. I got the impression there are antibiotics on board ( I would assume so), so the quick fix might be to clean it up, tank up on meds, and keep an eye on it. I thought Bill told him to go take antibiotics. But I agree that a photo consult wouldn't be out of line, if possible. It looked pretty icky. Some of the captains seem to have quite a bit of first aid knowledge, from the training and years of seeing anything and everything on the boat. Keith seems to be a pretty fair diagnostician. My impression is they are equipped to deal with a variety of medical issues there on the boat, since they CAN'T always make a quick trip back into town. As for Jake and Josh, from what I recall seeing (and I admit it's only what has been shown), Jake has tried to learn everything he could about the business and running the boat, including hounding Sig to let him have time "in the chair." Josh - have we seen much of him trying to learn anything? He's got the feet propped up, smokin' thing down pat. Anything else? Does he have any engineering capabilities? Most of the time he's spent captaining seems to come from Casey telling him it is his "turn." I'm hopeful that he finds his groove and becomes the captain he appears to want to be. But I think better money is on him hitting the road once the TV deal ends.
  5. I saw the Hackensack/Van Doren repeat and nearly changed channels, but it was a pretty good repeat. I spent the first half of the episode wondering what sprinkler "foolish Jerry" had run through on his way to court to have the splatters STILL showing up on his shirt. The plaintiff, even though she won, sure didn't seem pleased. Idiots. "She always drives us when we are drunk." Those are some streets I'd make sure to avoid! And I do wish they'd mix up the reruns. If there were a boatload of episodes, but these are from May!
  6. I think that would have made for some fiiiine teevee. Had he pulled the same attitude as in the halterview, I wonder if Byrd would have exploded? And the "guarantee" check was hilarious. I wonder what exactly she thought it was? Maybe if you wave enough papers around, someone believes you? Of course, it would help if you didn't contradict yourself every time you opened your mouth. In my make-believe, rose-colored glasses world, there are people employed to watch this show, and then track down the criminals who appear. Gotta think that if anyone in law enforcement saw this ep, they'd be all over keeping an eye on Vernetta and her bouncer-beau! And she was weirdly calm, wasn't she? Creeeeeeeepy.
  7. I couldn't figure out why Josh wasn't down there with them. I'd think he could still work alongside his crew- a better way to build a "team" and earn a little respect. Especially when it is for an unseen problem that's holding everything up. Very telling that (based on what was shown) it took Casey telling him the guys were messing around, rather than Josh monitoring and keeping an eye out. Better yet, a well-placed, "Thanks for working hard - keep it up!" could have helped. I hope Jake was able to hear some of his crew's positive comments. I've got to think that for as green as he his (and sheesh - opies as a first time run?! yowza!), they've all got to be thankful that he's at least clean and sober. That would give him big points in my book. Is he Sig or Keith? Not yet. But Elliott scared me. And I can appreciate his second-guessing his career choice. I've had jobs that as soon as I showed up thought, "Wow, what have I gotten myself into?" Hope he does well. Looked like the weather was starting to cooperate, so maybe a few good days under his belt will allow him to relax and really get in the groove.
  8. Well that's a euphemism I wasn't familiar with...
  9. Angela, Sweetie, be careful what you wish for.... (blech, ick, brain bleach! ha!) But it is indeed a mystery. We had a student in our junior high one year - eyes literally went in two different directions, his buck teeth rivaled Bugs Bunny, the sense God gave a grapefruit, yet he had scores of pre-teen girls just following him around ALL. THE. TIME. They just swooned. We were all stymied. As for today's ep: Oh, Vernetta, Vernetta, Vernetta. Even my son had his shoe ready to throw at the TV. She was just all sorts of nuts. I'm sorry her "no good deed goes unpunished" defendant didn't get repo costs back. JJ needs to use her production company to create a show to run after hers that is full of rainbows and puppies and all happy wonderful things. Jr. Toes even said this show just makes him sad for humanity. Sigh. Maybe the drinking game needs to start BEFORE the episodes air. Hmmm. May have to go look up the Book Bag caper for a little relief.
  10. It was a great day for names! And I laughed, too at Ms. Veal's, "Never again." Still couldn't figure out what girlfriend wanted $4000 for. Maybe just to get a trip to LA?!
  11. If the guy could afford such high-end equipment, he should have also been able to protect it. Whether renter's insurance (which was weird that his company wouldn't cover it - hmmmmm), or changing the locks. Another case of "Something bad happened to me, therefore I must find someone to sue." Sometimes life sucks. And it isn't someone's fault. Idiot son with dopey girlfriend sued by Momma: I need a better word than "idiot." JJ: "Who's gonna pay this?" Idiot Son: "She already did!" I hope mom has learned there's helping your child, and letting them learn unpleasant lessons on their own.
  12. Kinda like watching SuperNanny makes me feel like the world's greatest mom. This show has given us some wonderful, funny, sad, and some very deserving litigants. It's also given us a good share of moochers and scammers and just plain icky folks. I think it is the scammers and moochers-for-life that drive some of us nuts. (And it's true that we don't have all the facts about the people we see.) Those truly in need? Deserve all they can get. In my mind.
  13. The one about the wired money had the amazing comment from the defendant that the plaintiff had extra money from "a safe they had found," but def .didn't want to go into details. Huh?! That'd be interesting stuff! Wish I knew where to "find a safe." And the idiot unlicensed driver trying to craft a believable lie about why he didn't have a license. His excuse as to why he didn't have a good reason was along the lines of, "I couldn't think of a better one." Glad former girlfriend has wised up.
  14. The only thing missing from that was, "She proceeded to be told..." And you got JJ's accent just right. hee. An awful lot of people of late showing up without any supporting legal documents. Coincidence, or are people just showing up for TV time? Perhaps people are snatched up and whisked away from the grocery store and shoved onto a plane to LA. That could explain why they don't have their paperwork in order. Or their roots done.
  15. I don't normally watch the B'ette seasons (don't know why it bugs me, when a bunch of desperate women don't, plus I can never tell any of the men apart), but broke down and watched last night's episode. I saw the first one, and have been reading here to stay current, but man, what a mess! I can't figure out ANY reason that ANY of the remaining guys are still around, other than to wait it out to be the next Bachelor. Every time someone bails out, the odds improve. I think the comments about production having to splice things together and switch around the format just to produce SOMETHING (and have it end early) seem spot on. Kaitlyn would not have been my choice in the first place based on last season, and I've seen nothing of substance in the snippets (and comments here) that make me feel any differently. She was cute and spunky, but I didn't see her as lead potential. For the bits I've caught, and seen in the recaps, most of the guys seem to know the script well ("I think there is something real here between us" "I think I'm falling in love!" etc.) As does Kaitlyn. And if I had heard "we were intimate" one more time last night I think I would have thrown a shoe at the TV. Me thinks she was told to alter her vocabulary... Also bugged me that when Shawn went back to her room, her response was "What now?! I can't handle this" or some such, rather than, "Oh, good, a friendly face at the end of a horrible day." If he's "the one" wouldn't she be glad to see him, above anyone else? To me, these shows have become more of a casting project to see who will be the next lead, rather than about someone looking for "love" on TV. Rather telling, also, that the best moment of the show was a commercial for a different program! Glad to see the Raccoon has become a star. Hope he got his SAG card. Maybe they can switch things up and ONLY bring on the crazy ones. That might be worth watching. In the meantime, thanks to those of you who suffer through it each week, and report back here. Brave souls, you are.
  16. I hate it when we get 30- (well, 22-) minute shows. So much rehashing of the same info. Ms. Grissom is lucky she got anything. I think JJ was ready to toss her out, but the def was a yucky, lying ass. Plaintiff was an idiot. Like doctored documents wouldn't be an issue? And I was ready to smack the smirk off her face. Sometimes they get nervous and a little goofy, fine, but that was just too much. In better news, it looks like a fiiiiiiiine fashion hair day tomorrow. I do appreciate the architectural do's others can create! AngelaHunter, I'm glad you got to at least get your JJ fix, frustrating episode that it was. i figured you'd be getting daily "health and well-being" updates on you-know-who. Maybe we will all be happy viewers tomorrow!
  17. Oh My Dog! Cracked me up. Yep, PC, you fit right in....(you sicko, you!)
  18. Hee! I saw your post and thought, wow, we have a lot of foodies here. And then you explained it yourself! Nice job. And a hearty welcome! StewedSquash, so sorry to hear of your loss. We once had a vet tell us that this is the last kind thing you can do for your pet. if you've ever been to a nursing home, you understand. We've put down three wonderful Goldens, and it is devastating. But we know they are romping, healthy and happy, chasing squirrels, and swimming in lakes, ponds, and swamps. I hope your little one finds ours, and makes new friends. Hugs to you.
  19. Amen! Tidied up the kitchen and hit one bathroom in between commercials. :-/ Heading upstairs to "that room" next! ha! I was pleased that both homes/families seemed to get some of the work done themselves. That's always a good sign. I would hope they can keep things at least at bay for a while. Do we ever get long-term updates? I'm not a regular viewer. Yama's life priorities seem a little skewed, but given her experiences, maybe understandable. Michelle's, too, when I heard her son had a sensory disorder. Guess that's all part and parcel of why they are on this show to begin with. Sigh.
  20. A lot of the Space Center Houston/NASA footage was shot in areas not normally accessible to the general public. (One shot was from a reception/lounge area at SCH.) To be in these "restricted" areas, you need to be in the company of badged NASA employees, or on a VIP-type tour. As notable Houston residents, with a camera crew in tow, I'm sure they had special access to normally off-limits areas. I think we've seen other backstage-pass-type things when they've gone other places. Camera crew = special treatment. Not to say that maybe Will was a little fast and loose with the rules, but they were supervised and pretty much in an off-limits area to begin with. It's hard to say "no" to that giggly face. Would be for me, anyway. And I don't want to watch parents discipline their children. Zoe on the counter scared me, too. All I could think was, "No one can catch her if she falls!" But for a 4-year old, it is hard to tell them not to do things they see their parents do. Part of being a family with special circumstances. Still love 'em, they still make me smile. All i require in my TV viewing choices.
  21. I thought the same thing, and agree with the rest of your entire post. Seems like a pretty big thing to come up as a surprise. And Josh had better have spent some quality time on deck helping!! Not all captains would need to, but I think he sure does. I was soooo glad to see my favorite Jake A moment - the jacket! (and long hair! sigh!) I've watched this for a long time, and I still remember that episode. Caught his "not a whiner like his old man" line, but I can also appreciate not wanting to leave the safety and "home" of the Northwestern and venture out on his own. The first time a baby bird jumps out of that nest and tries to fly must be scary. And I confess that I was glad to see Jake on the Bait - was worried about a captain's first trip being during opies. Hope it was a success. Darling baby, and loved his wife, too. Glad that she seems to appreciate exactly what she signed up for. Interesting to see the exec producer's take on Elliott. I was thinking the same thing Andy said - that the fallout would be "enjoying watching someone's life fall apart," but then the followup was spot on: Production gave Elliott had the chance to make this story a hero story, but he CHOSE to fail. Addiction not withstanding, he was on the ship knowing he was impaired. I would really like to know who ultimately pulled the plug on him - Disco or another outside entity. Oh, and "Die Hard" - we were hysterical over here. Too funny. Loved Edgar's get up.
  22. Cousin PeeWee! Another episode that's definitely a keeper. I can't help but think of Newhart: I'm Milika, this is my sister, Miracle, and my other sister (friend) Miracle. Talk about your vacant eyes. Yikes. Bettin' at least one of 'em is a momma now! Cousin seemed like a nice young man trying to do the right thing. Don't think he has much either, but was trying. On my list of Litigants I Love.
  23. AZ that would have been a MUCH better episode! And hugs to teebax - sounds like a rough day/week!
  24. Ding Ding Ding! You have correctly identified Googly Eyes!
