  1. What is up with the CBC announcer today. in the original broadcast of the race, he kept saying Emily Overholt. Overholt wasn't even in the race. Man can't keep his swimmers straight. I noticed that they edited it in the re broadcast.
  2. I'm in Canada, and according to our history channel, we get one this Thursday and one next Thursday. Booo.
  3. I would not be interested in watching 10 homeless people if they were from the Vancouver Metro area. A lot of the homeless here are addicts or mentally ill, and its not entertaining dealing with them in real life, so I have no desire to watch them on tv.
  4. My PVR didn't record this as the show info was missing and it just showed a generic blurb with the original start date on it. Hopefully the one later on today is the new one and I can watch it later. Sometimes Technology is irritating.
  5. I'll try online I guess, although the American sites always tell me I can't watch from my location. Maybe the CTV site will have it. Dang it!!!
  6. When is Josh Groban co hosting? Did I miss it? If I did, Damn It! I love him, kind of irrationally. Stupid kids and the end of school stuff to be done.
  7. Well, when I lived there, 30 years ago, it was colder in the winter than it is now. We usually got some snow every now and then, and it was a little colder, but not much. However, the bears did pretty much hole up and sleep for stretches. They did make appearances now and again, but not a whole lot.
  8. I'm just watching this now, and can't figure out why David is trying to move the log by dragging it along the shore. Roll it out a little further in the water and float it along moron.
  9. LocimusPrime, I dont' know about the rest of Canada, but in BC, we are not lumberjacks, we are loggers. :)
  10. He sounds a lot like my dad. Everyone in the world could disappear, but as long as my mom was around, dad would be fine. My mom retired before him, and only lasted at home for a year after dad retired, before going back to work. She said he just wore her down with constant togetherness, so she went back to work to get away from him. I'm dreading what will happen if my mom passes before him. I doubt he'd last the month.
  11. I knew Larry was going to set the tree on fire. Doesn't matter how wet wood is, it will eventually dry out and burn. I also don't understand why they insist on boiling the water. I drank straight from streams and lakes there for years and I'm still alive. That sweat lodge that Larry built was cool. You could do something similar with a platform base, then cover the outside with branches and ferns and have a snug little cocoon to sleep in. And Mike's football game was also very interesting. I was completely surprised that he tapped. I hadn't heard him talking about his wife for a while, so I thought he was adjusting. I was not as surprised with Randy though. He just seemed sort of flaky to me.
  12. Looks like a salmon to me. Hubbie says it is too, and he's done a lot of fishing. Editing to add, I think I may have a bit of a crush on Justin. Swinging off the tree, "Muscle Beach" Ha!
  13. Ok beer is bad enough, but belly button lint beer? Sounds disgusting.
  14. I don't know what it is, but Jussi Smollett's voice is sexy. I can't even really pay attention to what he's saying, but something about the tone, or whatever, just is so soothing. I like it a lot.
  15. I can not believe that the one guy wove a net. Was that David? Ingenious. I wouldn't be able to do that. But I think he is also the one who is dehydrated near a creek. Why isn't he drinking it? The water on the Island is excellent and we've never boiled it. I generally just stick my head in the creek and slurp. I was also in shock when Tracy tapped.
  16. If they are closer to the Pacific, around Winter Harbour, I feel for them. At least further down the sound there is some protection from the storms, but out there, nada. Not my choice for a camping spot. The worst wind I've ever felt was on Long Beach in July. Same side of the Island as Winter Harbour, just closer to the middle of it. Super hard and icy cold IN JULY!
  17. As soon as my husband say MK cutting the kindling, he said that it wouldn't end well. I was cringing everytime she brought the hatchet down. I wanted to take it away from her and cut it myself. Not a good way to go out. I figured she was in shock though, just from the way she was staring and shaking. I thought she was going further, but sometimes accidents happen. The screamy noises that Nicole heard were bear cubs. She just couldn't see them as they were probably wrestling in a dip in the ground where the mom was, who she could see. I don't know if anyone cares, but this is where I think they are, and also where I grew up. It is a wonderful part of the country, if you don't mind rain. :)
  18. I generally love this show and start watching once the auditions are over as I have a low tolerance for people making fools of themselves. I think someone somewhere (TWOP maybe) called it secondhand embarrassment syndrome. It is even worse for me when it involves children. I don't think this show will appeal to me, as I love it because there are intricate, intimate dances, that will not come across the same or be able to be performed the same way they would with 2 adults. Plus, I'm just not that interested in shows with performing children.
  19. I have an irrational love for Josh Groban, and would probably implode if he was co host. I don't know if it would be a good or bad thing for me.
  20. I feel like I'm watching a totally different show than everyone else on the site here. I don't see the awkwardness or sniping, it seems the same to me. Also, Michael hasn't hidden the fact he's been divorced, has talked about it himself, and as something like half of all marriages fail, what is the huge deal with Kelly mentioning it during a bit about divorced people with children working out housing arrangements? I really must be blind to social cues, because I just don't see or hear what seems to be accepted as what is happening. Neither one of them seems to be uncomfortable to me.
  21. I was raised in that area, and I wouldn't last more than a couple of days if I was alone. Once you get wet and cold, being by yourself sucks. Doing it in the summer would be easier, as there are berries and plants all over the place, but fall and winter things are pretty scarce. Hell, being cold, tired and hungry in my house in the city makes me want to tap out sometimes.
  22. I'm in Canada, which normally I love, but sometimes, when it come to the internet, kinda sucks.
  23. Is history.com geo-locked? Everytime I try to go to it, it changes it to history.ca, which doesn't have the same content as the American site. Most annoying.
  24. I would not be able to race with Dana. I think Matt would be ok though. Whenever I navigate, (or drive) I always go over the directions before I get in the car. I find it hard to do it while the car is moving and there is so much to pay attention to. Then I re-read them as we are going. Complete read through before getting in the car, then step by step while driving is the way to go. One thing I always do if a map is available, is find the three streets before the street I need, so that when I see one of them, I know that we need to turn soon. Even if I'm driving, I always read over the directions myself. I just hate not knowing what is going on. This wouldn't be too much of a problem for me and my husband, as we generally work well together with the navigating and driving. We always seem to get where we're going, with plenty of time to spare.
  25. Was this just on the American history channel? I couldn't find it listed on the Canadian one.
