  1. Season 5 won't start production until the writers get a fair deal. It was suppose to start this month.
  2. Premieres: May 7th 2023.
  3. I caught up to the last 4 episodes. I think I keep watching for the actors and the location. The writing is mediocre and most of the characters have too many problems especially the leads. It's like every episode someone is mean to Maggie and Sully is struggling with his alcoholism and incredibly bad financial management. Seriously, how has he been able to keep that place afloat? I find the lead actress okay. I partly blame the writing because it's taken awhile for us to get to know her character. Also, she did treat Andrew rather coldly. Even though he turned out to be a controlling jerk, he was right in that she didn't seem to know what she wanted. The writing isn't great but we're finally seeing that Maggie has sought out control in her life due to her anxiety and her unstable upbringing with an alcoholic father. Her mother is rather controlling too but can't blame her too much considering she lived with Sully. Once I found out that Maggie has panic attacks, I was able to relate and understand her better. I know she suggested therapy to Sully but I really hope Maggie looks into herself right now in her life. Maggie is more relaxed in Sullivan's crossing and she'll be fine as a trauma and search and rescue medic. It's just a lot of crap in her life right now which would understandably cause her anxiety to flare up. I know this from personal experience. Cal probably has some family money which wouldn't surprise me. I'm fine with this pairing and CMM is trying to make this mysterious widower thing work for me at least.
  4. Directed by Ray Romano, in his directorial debut, from a screenplay by Romano and Mark Stegemann. The film stars Romano and Laurie Metcalf. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 10, 2022. It was released in the United States on April 21, 2023
  5. Britons still use miles for road signs. They will use metric for loads of other things except distances. Since Nate's father is older, he will be even more likely to use miles.
  6. It's unfortunate because it has been better. Actually this ep's scene with Keeley and Rebecca is a return to form. I've always appreciated how they write these two women as friends especially in a mentoring and supportive way. They are so affectionate and wonderful together. I loved the way Rebecca talked about the lovebombing. She did it in as diplomatic way as possible lending her experience. I didn't mind that Rebecca took full of advantage when they found out the meal was comp'ed though and she ordered a bottle for their server too which was a great touch. I thought similar. Keeley is Marianne. I'd put Rebecca as Elinor since was giving the sense in their convo and in telling Keeley how she didn't jump into things with Hot Dutch Guy. Roy is Colonel Brandon. Jack is Willoughby whose first name was John in the book. Hopefully it's not as extreme and that Jack/Keeley ends things on am amicable note. I think the Roy/Keeley ship is fine. Like others, I have very mixed feelings about the Nate storyline too. If we isolate him in this episode, I think Nick Mohamed did a good job. It reminded me how sympathetic and nice Nate was in the past. However, the viewers can't forget what happened last season so it feels like whiplash. He hasn't shown remorse to AFC Richmond at all so him getting this character growth feels like a reverse of what should be happening.
  7. I watched the Katee Sackhoff interview and took a few points down on what it's like shooting the show: She primarily worked with Lateef and Brendan who were there everyday; she does not mention when she worked with Pedro; These characters need more than one person due to the production: there are two units and she had to constantly go back and forth or she would have to review her double's work from the other lot; Many scenes were cut short including the one about uniting Mandalore; like the hosts and fans, she didn't know why the eps are made to be so short - this really affects the emotional ramifications IMHO; Rick, Jon, or/and Dave were around on set or in the lot everyday; and Even though she didn't know about the Filoni movie either, there was chatter consensus that the three shows are interconnected to a bigger story including S3 setting things up for something
  8. This is why I wish there was more emotional reflection on this show which the last episode tried to do when she discussed the surrender. She knows the power of the DS as a leadership symbol and now we know she surrendered it which is why she wanted it back in S2. However, she does not want to come into conflict with Din. I think she considered him an ally by end of S2 and they became friends in this series. She finally seemed over retaking thing between the seasons as she's jaded now having spent her whole life trying to unite and lead her people. I think the show sorta saw it as goofy too because one of the tribes didn't care about it and that it was just a weapon. At least now they can start a New Age as it were and rebuild it or find another symbol the leadership position. I did see some character growth or progression through the DS with respect to Bo-Katan but these shows aren't great about showing the emotional heft. This brings me back to the fact that they low key rehashed Bo's storyline from Rebels. I watched some of Rebels for context. Bo rejected the DS the first time it was offered to her Rebels and only took it because Sabine told her she was a capable leader and the Clans united to follow her. So basically what happened in this show too. A lot of people who watch The Mandalorian won't know that but interesting to see her having to be given it again. At least it makes sense why she feels so over it between the seasons. But yes, they again missed the emotional weight of it. In any case, I really hope they have Sabine and Bo-Katan together in live action.
  9. I think the Darksaber is one of those things that mean a lot to certain fans and to certain characters, but it wasn't that important to our leads. Din didn't care about it and found it both literally and figuratively heavy to wield. The Armorer seemed indifferent about it and his covert didn't take orders from Din or anyone who had it. It was important to Bo's faction but more like an excuse and as a symbol (see how Din pushed them to accept it through the loophole). Even Bo-Katan has mixed feelings about it considering recent history and she clearly didn't want it in Rebels the first time or even here after Din won it in S2. I think the show was trying to say that Bo-Katan had finally become a leader through uniting her people and trying to bridge the gap between them. She is holding her leadership position by having brought two opposing Mandalorian tribes together. It probably won't be an easy road but it's better than where they were after basically a genocide. I agree about the lack of emotional resolution in this episode. Din and Grogu spend the whole season with these Mandalorians and we don't even get them to say "See ya later," after it's all done. I really hope we see more pay off in S4 or the other shows. Filoni and Favreau do a better job than the movies generally with character development and dialogue, but I was reminded this episode that this universe has stoic and inexpressive characters. We don't even see the face of the protagonist and the other one does not talk at all. There is heart to this show with Din and Grogu but they are conservative with what the characters can express. Other than anger or violence with action, there's a lot of restraint to how everyone acts and is directed to act. There is very little rumination or emotional reflection of events. Unfortunately, I think this is an inherent theme of SW itself.
  10. Minka Kelly wrote a memoir about her difficult upbringing and rise to fame. She confirmed that she and Taylor Kitsch dated but it was “toxic” on-and-off. She said that there was awkwardness on set when they were off the relationship. This explains so much including their intense chemistry. Like many people, I didn’t understand why Tyra came back in the finale when Riggins only ever seemed to care about Lyla. This explained why Minka didn’t want to come back even for a short scene. Has anyone been listening to the podcast? I haven’t gone through it yet but they have a lot of guests on it.
  11. It's Star Wars. Someone is always going to be disappointed. Casual or hard core fans always find something to pick at at. I think Filoni and Favreau have planned things this way. Filoni wrote about the Mandalorians for years before this show. Current rumors is that S4 is going have more elements of the Rangers show that they were going to do with Cara but with Din and Grogu instead. That should offer lots of side quests and development for Din Grogu the apprentice.
  12. Doctor Pershing was a key character to this whole series as he and Werner Herzog (the client) were the ones responsible for placing the bounty on Grogu. He had saved Grogu in S1 and helped our heroes again in S2. The previouslies about him relate to the fact that he is the cloning engineer who worked on Gideon's clones. I didn't enjoy the episode where he was betrayed either but he's been quite important to the show.
  13. I liked this episode too but I think because the last couple have been such downers. To get the bad stuff out of the way: Keeley's storyline has been a drag this season. I like Barbara and I don't mind Jack, but Keeley has been on another show. I miss the Keeley and Rebecca friendship. It's one thing for her not to be with Roy but she has barely interacted with the team. It is sad that Keeley being mostly gone this ep was a good thing. For the mixed bag: I found Rebecca's storyline romcom so cheesey. I question giving her random love interest like this out of almost nowhere with a few eps to go. With Nate getting one last week, it seems this is how the writers will roll as they try to pair out most people in happy endings. Cheese aside, the Dutch actor they got was really smooth and charming. They had chemistry and it was nice watching Rebecca be happy for the first time in many episodes. I thought Trent was gay from a few episodes ago too so I'm glad it was confirmed. I liked the chat between Trent and Colin. Trent is such a great addition to this cast. I also liked the rest of the story lines as you can't go wrong with the guys having fun. I absolutely loved Ted's solo adventure the most. Jason's character and acting is the heart of this show. I love Van Gogh and have been in that museum so I thought it was a wonderful scene. The triangle sequence was the funniest thing I found on this show in a couple eps. It was strange and delightful. Ted was so earnest in it which was great.
  14. I really loved this season. I even did a quick skim of S2 eps before this episode, and I prefer the pacing and scale of this one overall though S2 had its moments and eps. However, this episode felt a bit rushed and preferred the previous episode. They really should have given it 10 more mins because it was a lot of action and tying up some loose ends. There was not enough room to breath and absorb all that happened to the characters. We only get a couple mins of the Mandalorians post action. I've grown attached to Bo-Katan and the other Mandalorians and wanted more from them. I hope and guess we will visit them again to see how the rebuilding work is going. As for the speculation about the spies from last episode, I was inclined to the 12 Spies of Canaan theory because of all the Judaism and Old Orthodox metaphors. So I'm glad no one got betrayed or died but it did miss out. The final shot was great and it did feel like a series finale in a good way. Hopefully, we'll see the Mandalorian and Grogu make an experience in Ahsoka and the new movie. I'll watch it even though I didn't watch Rebels and only watched a few eps of Clone Wars. I like what Filoni and Favreau are doing with the TV shows overall. It's not perfect but there have been some good and fun episodes on all these shows so I'll keep going.
  15. If you are interested in rewatching the original show, we can organize it in this thread. Please feel free to suggest possible schedules, must watch episodes, etc. I could also create Season threads if there is enough interest as well.

    Mod Notes

Hello! With the Frasier revival on the horizon, we have a new forum to host both the original show and the new show threads. Please use the new Anticipation, Small Talk, and Media threads. I have reopened the Quotes and Love Interest threads from the very old Frasier forum as well. All Episodes Talk is sunsetted as we have more space to talk about the original show with new threads such as a Rewatch, season, or character threads. If you have questions or suggestions, please feel free to PM me. Thank you.
  17. Pure Beskar is nearly indestructible but rare. See the spear from S2 which survived the Razor Crest being bombed. Most beskar that Moff has been foraging is mixed and is Beskar Alloy. Also the Empire don't have Mandalorian Armorers on payroll so I can see their stuff not being as good as the beskar alloy that the Mandalorian tribes have. It's probably good for blending into the armor, but not as durable in the long term and therefore cheaper. I can see that breaking off.
  18. Axe Wolves said he would fly back to the fleet to get back up. Bo-Katan told him it was too far but he said he could do it. This all happened very quickly while they were being attacked by the new Imperial Stormtroopers. A lot of people are speculating that the Armorer is suspicious since she left the group, but she urged Bo-Katan to unite the tribes. At the beginning of the episode, Moff Gideon was surprised that the two tribes had united since they hate each other so at least he was unaware they were working together. Unless the Armorer is doing some long con which is possible but Moff and his spy didn't know about the Mandalorians coming together so quickly.
  19. I adore Sackhoff too and I do like her here, but I also wish there was a bit more expression. I found an S3 press interview where she talked about being more comfortable in the helmet. She felt like she was back in the recording studio and had more of her natural expressive Katee face. With the helmet off, she was told by the directors to do "less". Which makes me wonder what her original interpretation of certain scenes would be.
  20. The ending was tragic. It's been foreshadowed for awhile since the show got us invested in this character who has come to accept Din and Bo-Katan. As I mentioned last episode, I love the coming home and unity themes. I loved them meeting survivors and Bo-Katan having real talk to everyone, Din, and ultimately herself about how things got to this point. You can't trust the Empire but she was also left with no choice. They were going to be purged and killed even if she didn't give Moff what he wanted. Did anyone else notice how Grogu was in Bo-Katan's lap when they were flying into Navarro? So cute. I liked the return of IG-12 if only to give Grogu and Din more possibilities. I think IG-11 is dead and there is no sentience left. He is just a vehicle now which is a bit sad but considering what he did for Din and Grogu, this is a way of paying homage and making use of a droid beyond his life. This is a theme in the sci-fi novel The Psalm for Wild Built. Grogu continues to be a unifer of the Mandalorians as well. I like that he broke up the fight between the two factions. The adults in the room understood that a child was telling them to stop fighting.
  21. Agreed and prenups don't hold the same weight in the UK especially if children involved. Rupert will likely be hemorrhaged because of the child support. I am not sure what they are doing with the hostess character. Nate is so awkward around her which was amusing at first but she seemed rude and cold. Is it a lesson for Nate to stand up to her later? Then she decides she likes him and goes on a date with him or something. That seems too cliched rom com for this show. I think we'll see her again as it fits into Nate's arc which I am not warmed up to yet either.
  22. It's a stretch (like this whole show) but Nadia not going to police is in line with her own background to figure things and be obsessive in her own way. She had her own plans and I think she thought she could outsmart Joe. She was the one who taught him murder mystery 101. He did seem clueless before she helped him. What he did to Nadia and Eddie is one of the worse things Joe has ever done and before they tried to make him redeemable by saving kids, here he murders one and wrongly imprisons another. He can't come back from that. I also binged this season in 2 days. I wouldn't be entertained as much if I watched it in small doses. I agree that they did something different in this season which is why I like the cast and location more. I think this show peaked awhile back and has been dragging. I would have been more satisfied if this was S3 rather than S4. I agree that I don't want to see Marianne back and Joe deserves to be taken down. It's the only way this show could end satisfactorily. At the end of ever season, Joe's romantic victims mock him in his head but he doesn't get his come uppance. I agree Nadia or Kate are likely candidates. I like Kate because of Charlotte Ritchie and she has the markings of a sociopath as well. She's more stable than Love Quinn but Joe outsmarted her too. Joe has too much plot armor. Looking forward to the end. At least Penn Badgley has made a career resurgence from this show and I hope he plays against type in the future.
  23. I consider Clyde a regular on this show! He lived with the two protagonists after all. I agree that the show did a good reimagining overall. It was one of the only procedurals that I finished and a show which I followed live. I don’t have a huge urge to rewatch it but I liked and finished it weekly when it aired. There aren’t many shows I can say about that now.
  24. This is not my usual jam / type of show that I would normally watch. I caught the pilot after CTV's incessant commercials for it. Then I started leaving all the episodes on in the background. It's very Canadian. I'm glad they got to film somewhere not normally featured like Nova Scotia. I am finding CMM more attractive now than when he was younger. I was indifferent to him on Gilmore Girls and I didn't watch One Tree Hill. As a Canadian kid, I grew up with Tom Jackson on the "Shining Time Station" which had him and George Carlin in a Thomas the Tank Engine show. I'm really glad Jackson is still working and as soothing as ever. His hairline was receding a lot even in Gilmore Girls. He is an older, grumpy version of Luke. I read a spoiler from the books:
  25. Another more recent example: Japan's post-World War II constitution restricted them from having a military force and engaging in war. It has operated a Japanese Self-Defense Forces but it is very limited in what it can operate through its military. Germany received restrictions as well and most were lifted except one limiting total number of their personnel.
