  1. I like her mom Babs better than anyone else on the show. But I don't know if we'll see her as much now that Whitney and Buddy have moved in together. I have a feeling that this best friend of hers is actually much more of a romantic relationship than she's willing to admit. I feel for her on the prediabetes issue. And it is hard, watching what you eat all of the time without becoming obsessed with it. That part is difficult. However, Whitney probably needs counseling to address her emotional issues with her weight rather than just seeing the dietician. you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink.
  2. Jess and Ben have had income from TLC for their wedding special and all their other appearances on the show. The whole season of Jessa getting engaged and then married had to have been worth quite a few bucks. Then there's the book Jessa wrote with her sisters, which probably earned them a decent profit, even split 4 ways. I suspect Jim Bob might have made some type of trust for the show for his older kids, the ones over 18. The married ones can probably control their own bank accounts but the unmarried ones still at home, I'm sure Jim Bob doesn't let them have free access to their money. Hate to say it, but of all their kids, Josh and Anna have profited the most from having their wedding, 3 births, all the specials and just participating on the show for about 7 years, so it's not likely that any of the Duggars are in any way going to be poor anytime soon. Jim Bob knows how to manage money and I imagine they'll all be well enough off for the next 25 years, or until he's not around any more. I'm not sure that Michelle will know how to manage money once she's a widow but hopefully there will be some kind of fund set up for her and the kids that remain at home. We all know that some of them will never leave home and get married.
  3. I read that it will be tomorrow. Wow, I wonder if she's getting married in a church? Many of them won't do Sunday weddings.
  4. I really wonder if Ben's parents would have put a stop to the marriage had this scandal taken place last summer.
  5. I have a feeling that no one in the Lonely Hearts club will be getting married for a long time. Possibly 3 to 5 years or more for all of them.
  6. Is it my imagination, or has Cait gotten thinner since her transition? I thought at first it was her clothes, but now I think she's down about 15 or 20 pounds since I saw the 20/20 interview. Maybe Cait and Candis know each other too well to actually date. My teen son would call this being friend zoned, if you know somebody for a long time, they put you in the friend category and don't see you as a potential love interest. Maybe that's what happened here.
  7. One detail about this whole mess that I'm not quite clear about is the part where Josh first starting looking at porn, presumably at age 13 according to everything I've read. This means the Duggars had the internet around 2000-2001. Our family didn't go online until 2000 and it was the old dial-up phone line, I'm sure it was the same for the Duggars. With 13 kids in the house plus Jim Bob and Michelle and only one phone line, when did Josh have time to look up porn, especially with the strict rules that were put in place? That part doesn't make any sense to me. And how did no one know what he was up to? Then later on, when he got married to Anna, did she not have any clues at all that he might be viewing porn or have any idea of all of what he was up to? Josh didn't have an affair with a co-worker or even a casual friend..he went looking for somebody to hire, not even a genuine dating site, from what I've gathered. He basically stalked this stripper online and then decided to track her down? That in itself is pretty creepy.
  8. I saw a preview from Whitney on Facebook (I think) and she and Buddy are now living together. If she's gained weight, this might be the reason why, it often happens when couples get married or start living together.
  9. I don't consider Josh to be an addict, but I do consider him to be a product of his environment and he didn't appear to realize that it would be very easy for him to get caught in his private life. I don't think he truly wanted marriage and children at a very young age (didn't he and Anna marry at 19 and 20?), but he wanted to get away from home and it was the only acceptable way to do so. Maybe if Jim Bob had offered him the chance to go to Crown college he would have jumped at it, but the Duggars didn't have nearly as much money back in 2007 to pay for it. As an aside, I have never been to Chicago but would love to visit someday...and my favorite show based in Chicago is Shameless.
  10. Well, there's no thread for the separate shows anymore, but last night I happened to catch both episodes 6 and 7. I thought episode 6, called Murder, was the funniest storyline I've seen so far this season. Somehow a random tenant is living in the guest house and the parents end up playing hooky from work to follow him around a hardware store in disguise. She also opens the tenant's mail and figures he must have murdered his girlfriend and buried her in the yard. Very dark comedy, but I thought it was genuinely absurd and funny. I guess the writers made an effort for this episode more than the others.
  11. I wonder if Josh even realizes that if he had decided to make a public statement stating that he should have never married Anna, he was leaving Anna and the kids but would continue to provide for them and stay involved in his children's lives, that he was brainwashed by his parent's belief systems and that he grew up in a cult, was repressed, etc. , that he would probably not only gain the sympathy of much of the American public, he'd also be very likely offered a book deal, a job, and television appearances. EVERY major talk show would probably want to have him on if he was willing to dis his parents on national tv.
  12. I'm wondering why do Jim Bob and Michelle feel the need to put out statements about Joshua? He is a grown adult, is he not? In the eyes of the law, whatever he does or doesn't do has nothing to do with his parents. Are they going to continue defending him when he's 47 and they're in their 70's?
  13. I haven't seen all the shows this year, but there don't seem to be very many. With no real job, and Jon basically unemployed, how is Kate supporting herself on just a few TLC specials every year?
  14. Maybe it's Derricks' idea to stay out of the country and away from the Duggars for a few years. If so, it is a smart move on his part. Eventually interest will fade and at some point he and Jill can return to the US and live a private life, if they so desire. But Jill and Derrick would be wise to avoid social media. The problem is, being raised in the Duggar family means that they were all raised to be famewhores and it's going to be hard for them to give that up.
  15. Jim Bob is NOT a leader. He doesn't have an original thought in his head. Everything that he believes in, he learned from somebody else. His views on sex were based on a book by Ed Wheat. His attitude toward finances were from that seminar he and Michelle attended. His beliefs about women and their place in society, toward education, and just about everything else came from Gothard. The man is incapable of critical thinking and sadly, so are all of his children. The one who tried to think for himself , Josh, has failed miserably.
  16. One of the worst things that Jim Bob and Michelle did was having the horrendously cheap weddings for Jill and Jessa. Knowing that they were going to be televised, it's inconceivable that they served stupid root beer floats in a parking lot outside in November when it was about 30 degrees outside. Jill's wedding and reception weren't much better, and even the most die hard fans would have been hard pressed to watch another 16 weddings of that atrocity level on television. Just about every other TLC family who hosted a wedding did ten times better than the Duggars did. Thank goodness the world will no longer be subject to their stupid philosophies on side hugs, saving first kiss for the wedding day, and leaving their wombs open to receive as many blessings as their Lord will give them. What a bunch of crap.
  17. I'm just wondering, suppose Josh had done something in which he was arrested and had to serve time in prison....let's say a significant amount of time, 20 years or so. Would Anna then be allowed to divorce him or would she be forever stuck standing by her man...a man who can no longer support her financially or emotionally ?
  18. I'm glad that Anna's brother Daniel spoke publicly. I'm sure the postings will be pulled but at least a lot of people will know that not all of Anna's family supports Josh's actions. The news article did quoted Daniel as being the oldest, but it's not true, their sister Esther with a missionary husband in Africa is and they have 9 children, I think. She's in her mid thirties.
  19. I like the cake better than her wedding dress. Wonder if maybe Michaela (that's what Brandon and now Kelly are calling her so I'm going with that) just preferred a simpler dress? I did like two of the ones she tried on at the dress shop. As for the cost, I'm surprised that the dress wasn't going to be comped as a result of being on their show, but maybe the Bates family doesn't receive a big salary since they're on a smaller network than TLC. Does anybody have any idea what the ratings are for this show?
  20. I bet they still will get a People magazine story and some form of payment from them when their baby is born. There won't be a tv show about it but they'll probably also have a lot of their fans sending them baby gifts, too. I know I've said it before, but now with the gravy train over, I doubt Jessa will have more than 2 or 3 kids.
  21. I'm wondering, are Jim Bob and Michelle still getting paid appearances/speaking engagements? I certainly hope not and that it dies off from here. The Duggar brand that they have created has failed. How can they offer "encouragement" when their golden child went off the deep end? They won't blame themselves, but what can their advice be? Keep their children locked up in the ivory tower like Rapunzel?
  22. Do we know for a fact that Josh and Anna are staying with Jim Bob and Michelle? Or are they living in Jill and Derrick's house? I hope that Anna at least takes the kids and visits her parents for an extended period of time. Even though they are all little, kids know when there is tension between their parents. They might not be yelling/screaming at each other, but i'm certain that the older two probably can sense that something is off between mommy and daddy. I feel for Anna, the kids, and her parents. I'm sure they really thought that Anna hit the jackpot when she married Josh, especially since their oldest daughter seems to be struggling financially with her husband and 9 kids somewhere in Africa. I really wonder what all of Anna's siblings think of Josh Duggar now as well as Jim Bob and Michelle.
  23. I could be wrong, but I predict that sometime in the future, at least one of those kids is going to run away, in the same fashion that was shown on Breaking Amish. It's also very possible that two of them will go together, but I just have a feeling this will happen sometime in the next 2 years. And for any of those kids over the age of 16, there has to be some realization that despite their upbringing, Josh went astray anyway, and their parents and way of life aren't perfect. I really hope that the rest of them aren't trapped home forever, and that the older girls aren't seen as damaged because of what Josh has done.
  24. I looked up the Ashley Madison site on Wikipedia and apparently it was invaded by hackers about a month ago who demanded it be shut down immediately or else the names of all the members would be released publicly. Names were to be released starting July 21 and all were to be made public by August 18. I read something about despite the "guarantee" of making a dating connection, that most men felt ripped off and it was about 70% male, 30% female who used the site. If this is all true, I don't see how this can be a fake account by Josh Duggar. I suppose we'll find out in the next few days. I have a feeling that the family won't comment on this incident.
  25. I just starting watching this show a couple of months ago and ended up buying season 1 on Amazon because it doesn't seem to be showing up on reruns. I've seen about half of season 2 and I really like the combination of Anna Faris and Alison Janey on this show, they seem to really work well together. Just about everything Alison says makes me laugh. It's realistic and so far, hasn't gotten negative despite some tough material, the characters seem to be moving forward and trying to do the best they can. I'm very much looking forward to season 3 and hoping I can watch the rest of season 2 in reruns before it returns this fall.
