  1. Except for some of Juliette's OTT rantings, I liked this episode. More good music, that's always a plus. And I just can't help myself, I still think Jeff is hot.
  2. Loved Quentin's funky Light My Fire (cool bass and guitar), to the point I listened to a crappy-audio you tube version and also the studio version (with the signature organ) several times each, a first for me this year--it's been an underwhelming season XIV.
  3. Aw, if Quentin hadn't had that dust-up with Harry last week, would he still have been the one leaving tonight...even though Rayvon may be the better technical singer, I enjoy Quentin's performances more, stylistically--I just feel more when he's doing his thing onstage.
  4. Juliette was obnoxious throughout the episode (what's new, eh). Avery is so likable (and patient with Juliette's wild moods), I'm miffed if he feels he should give up the band so easily. I'm not a Christina fan, but I'm interested in seeing what unfolds as Jade. Good music tonight. I continue to enjoy Layla's performances.
  5. I'm not sharing Adam's love of Deanna's vocals, though I give her credit for going on a big show like this despite her apparent massive issues with confidence.
  6. I agree! Makeup definitely had their work cut out for them this week and I thought it was great how Val was giving them a heartfelt thank you on the live broadcast...only to be cut off by Erin just HAVING to introduce Rumer to Minnie Mouse (i.e., a person in a character costume).
  7. I'm at the point where I feel that if I binge watched every episode of this madness I'd STILL be confused. And then be pissed that I'd wasted that much time trying to make sense of the senseless.
  8. My happy ending just may be to quit this current mess of a show once and for all. :/
  9. Jax's Poker Face sounded Joey-esque to me. Happy that Harry took the challenge to sing Katy Perry (and he really can't dance) and laughed when Nick razzed him by saying it wasn't his best performance. I enjoyed Quentin's performance, Amish hipster look and all. lol at Jason teasing Joey about her crab hands when she performs, though she then almost seemed more preoccupied with keeping her eyes and hands open more. Clark was good, could've been a little more animated. Tyanna's back to good form. Rayvon and Qaasim instant twitter save redux. ugh.
  10. Was enjoying Jax's less affected singing until the audience's sudden clapping and whooping before the song finished took me out of it. Joey's jazzy spin made me smile. Wish this week's hair color choice complemented the lovely red of her dress. Congrats on the engagement! Quentin's performance was probably my favorite of the night--though considering the weak competition, that isn't much of a high compliment. Seems odd that the pros are giving out rudimentary tips on how to sing and perform at this stage of the show, top 9. Note to Keith and J-Lo: I'm not feeling your authenticity when you say this is a talented, great group of singers. Each week I struggle to hear Daniel's voice over the musicians, he was definitely the right one to leave.
  11. I presumed the Walt reference was because OUAT is a Disney ABC show. Too obvious?
  12. I honestly can't keep track of all the tangents this show goes off on--many seem nonsensical and unresolved, and the cycling in and out of characters new and old and from different times and realms. This show that I once adored (once upon a time, long ago, heh) is bringing about too much confusion and wtf-itude to be enjoyable entertainment.
  13. All three judges have commented on Nick's good looks, such as the ridiculous advice to "own your hotness" and flash that fabulous smile through your performances more (isn't Daniel being told to do that less?). Nick did have a better performance with Man in the Mirror, seems to be connecting more. I wonder if he's internally rolling his eyes each time his looks are mentioned, pushing 30 and long trying to seriously support himself making music. Speaking of looks, Boy George and David Hasselhoff are looking well after their hard-living years. :p Good thing Baywatch wasn't an 80s show, The Hoff would've gladly stripped down to his red Speedos instead. That, coupled with the horrible singing of his, would've been too much camp!
  14. This show made me happy, lots of great music and behind the scenes. :)
  15. Nick is the oldest contestant and even he wasn't alive during the first half of the 80s. Eighties Week, so relevant. (I have fond memories living through that decade--Duran Duran!--, I just don't particularly get the allure of it on AI every year.) How many young people thought during Salt-N-Pepa's performance, hey it's the women from that Push It insurance commercial. hee Quentin was my favorite of the night. Solid, interesting performance. He was so cute with the Glow Worm, dressed it up real cool with his scarf and boot and then decided he wanted to keep it. :D
  16. Qaasim sang better tonight than some of his prior...performances...but color me surprised the judges used the save on him. What does that say about the lackluster talent left, meh. I love Mad World, and though I doubt any Idoler can top Adam Lambert's rendition imo, Joey did an ok job with it. Daniel remains out of his element here. I just can't get excited about this season, so disappointed in this amateur-hour competition. I still find it odd these 'kids' are singing so many songs from MY youth, many years before they were even born. I don't fault Quentin for not having seen the movie Grease. Next week is 80s week, lol.
  17. I'm fascinated how Derek can be involved in multiple major commitments cross-country (and internationally) and keep it all together. He thrives on it. I feel quite the slacker compared to those types. If I was a DWTS contestant, I'd only be devoted to the show during my run, no split focus on other projects...because I'd be a well-off celeb who could do that, haha. And I'd want to win. :) I'd be interested to see how Derek would work with some of the, shall we say, less capable people who've graced the DWTS floor.
  18. Thanks pezgirl7 for answering my request for a gif of Belle calling for Rumple to face her NOW, I missed that connection. I'm having trouble keeping up with all the ridiculous tangents, and I'm not even drinking during the show (would that help?). :)
  19. It grates on me on how often "happy ending" is uttered, though "get my revenge" is sneaking up in frequency. Anyone have a gif of Rumple (as Hook) being commanded to face Belle, and her not making the connection? There were some hot sparks between RumpleHook and Belle, as well as young Regina and Mal. Mal looks much prettier with her hair showing, both don't care-messy and sleek 1940s style, than covered in the horned headpiece. The white horse did a somewhat decent job playing drugged/cursed. ha
  20. Sarina Joi's song wasn't worth the one save, but she should've outlasted the likes of Daniel and Qaasim if we're basing this on singing ability. What a weak top 11. Joey came across as more composed in demeanor and dress, and her singing was clearer again this week. Good job. Enjoyed Tyanna, she's such a natural performer, beyond her years. Though, she appeared almost listless there in the lounge during the show that I wondered if there was something wrong/ill with her too, but then she came alive once her name was called. Had to laugh at Qaasim's mother not liking that Ryan knew she was fasting ("did Qaasim tell you that?") because, geesh, she had no problem telling the world her son's a virgin.
  21. SO GLAD Quentin was saved, though I hope that doesn't translate into him being gone next week, if he doesn't get more support...his performance tonight was beautiful (that includes the way the band and singers enveloped him--words are failing me how to express the vibe I got from it, with a song I don't even like, heh). I wouldn't be impressed by Daniel at a high school talent show, let alone top 12 of AI. :/ Qaasim: more singing and less over-performing please. Joey seemed to tone down the quirk and had a clearer singing voice, it was good. Nick didn't need to be reminded he's almost twice as old as some fellow contestants. ha
  22. Having Britt and Kaitlyn as co-B'ettes (for more than one episode) could be interesting, I think I'm just too cynical to believe this franchise could pull off interesting at this point. ;)
  23. I think it will be challenging for Kaitlyn to fully "be herself" with the guys on night one, who'll likely be flocking towards the pretty like moths to light. Some guys tire of beautiful women who end up being too insecure or needy or demanding or chatty (in general, not saying anything specific about Britt) and sometimes end up liking easy-going funny women more if they have opportunity to get to know them. So idk if Kaitlyn would stand much of a shot if it's one and done, it seems like such a cluster to have one lead get around to talk with everyone before the cutting begins, let alone having two leads compete for attention.
  24. I'd be drunk now if I took a shot each time Britt flipped her hair back during her co-introduction with Kaitlyn as the next B'ettes, what a distraction. That, and the fact Kaitlyn was having none of this sharing of men, ha. I don't blame her, I'd rather she be the lone B'ette but I'm curious enough to see how the show handles this at the start. Where's a local viewing party when you need one? ;)
  25. I hadn't noticed Joey's [yellowing] teeth, perhaps because she's so colorful otherwise and I'm watching on an older, not so giant tv. Being a good person means more to me than mere looks, though in our image-conscious sliver of the world I feel I'm walking against the crowd. (Being in the L.A. entertainment industry in my early 20s was quite the experience in looksism back in the day.)
