  1. But she said you can easily wash and bleach it! /s I agree, it's a big improvement over the cabin before, but I am not huge on the designs. "We can do this cabin year round! I have a radical idea! Let's theme it after the seasons!"
  2. Right. It's part of the wrong calculations that Scott presents in this. You need to factor in damages, you need to factor in consumables, you need to factor in cleaning after every tenant, you need to factor in advertisements/listing fees. His numbers don't do that, and it's unfortunate, I think.
  3. None of the new design really spoke German Beergarden to me, but I am not from Bavaria, so what do I know. Again he's kinda misrepresenting numbers. While $450/night with 50% occupancy can yield a lot of money, it's not like you can cash all of that in. You'll have to pay the listing service you're using, you'll likely have a cleaning person come in after each rental (unless you want to do it yourself), then reserve some money for repairs/maintenance/consumables. Don't get me wrong, you can still make a good chunk, but it's not like you can take 100% of the rental income.
  4. It also limits you to use it in the off season. His "rules" were also so incredibly profound. Who would've thought that those 5 things are the keys to financial success? Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. I think he's fun and one of the better HGTV personalities, but this show is just kinda odd.
  5. I felt the designs were cookie cutter basic naval themes, you know, because it's on the water! Some of the issues (like the power line) were bizarre to me. Don't they fully inspect the place before they work on it? I was also a little taken aback by the different numbers he gave the family. 50% occupancy relates to $75k. He gave them the $150k number when they painted the house (with the smallest brushes he could find). They said they'll use the cabin also, so why give them a 100% occupancy number (which is unrealistic anyway).
  6. Watched the Colorado to Tampa one. I don't get this show. These people seemed like they had time. They looked at gigantic houses for the two of them (and their kids every now and then). She seemed like an entitled Karen. Women on these shows often come off as bitchy. Men tend to do the whole "what she wants, she gets" trope, which I am kinda conflicted by, to be honest.
  7. This twist felt like "shucks we can't afford Pacino for another season, let's get him out with a bang" It fell so flat. It made no sense at all. It cheapened the whole season for me. The show has its moments in the writing. Is it contrived? Sure. But it's somewhat entertaining. In regards to the age issues. I feel like a lot of the Nazi people they killed off seem very young. I still can't figure out how they couldn't cast German actors to speak proper German and do the German-English accent. As a native German, this is super annoying, because it just takes me out of this show.
  8. The runway location was cool. I enjoyed the piano music for the first one, as it was very elegant and fitting. Too bad they killed that shortly thereafter. Naomi Campbell annoys me. As does fake-Hester. How does anyone make it onto a show like this without basic sewing skills, nor skills to instruct a seamstress? Her choice of fabrics was very juvenile and gaudy. I am over the whole fake Tim and Heidi date-night stuff. It's fake and annoying.
  9. Yeah, there's a lot of shenanigans going on here. The seamstress thing is good in concept, but it's also not executed well. So this is the normal way designers work usually? That seems strange to me. The location of the runway was cool. I don't like the judges. The designs were okay, but not presented well in the runway. Why do the judges up take more screen than the designs? I feel like they waste a lot of time showing the designers (and Heidi and Tim) hanging out in Paris as opposed to the actual work that happens. I find it odd that they kick people off early in the critique. It's somewhat refreshing to not have the "omg it's 2 people left who'll leave?" type of thing, but it's just strange how they do it.
  10. I love the subtle stabs at Project Runway: - 1 million dollars! - you're here to design, not sew - if you want to do fashion, you gotta be in Paris I am sure there are more.
  11. I am on Episode 6 on this. For the life of me I can't figure out how they couldn't find any native German speakers for this show. I suspect there's a bunch of German actors in New York, and Hungary isn't that far to get some.
  12. What a bizarre episode. I get the sub market they tried to capture (as in, not the super pre-fab camper like finishes), but there's a better way to do this. If you really have 15 leads per month - figure out common vehicles and create a modular system for those, so that you can get those done quickly and efficiently. Then, try and adjust those modules to other vehicles that don't fall under the common types. It's probably cheaper to work with a cabinet maker and just order those modules from them with finishing done in house. It shouldn't be that hard to make these things. and it shouldn't cost $35k. As for the app. 1 million potential customers with 400 paid members is OK, but not great. I'd be concerned with growth potential with those numbers.
  13. The L Word is pulling a replication or Mr Robot with that cliche airport cliffhanger, only that Mr Robot did it better.
  14. Well yeah, but then towards the end we see Micah and his bae each have 1. I'd assume that they are regular consumers and his mum isn't. But anyway. A lot of stuff in this show is kinda odd. How does Bette have the time to do lunches, brunches and dinners all over town, just to hang with the gang? She's running a campaign.
  15. So Micah's mum had 4 (FOUR) edible gummies? She'd be high AF.
  16. I am glad this show is back, but it's got issues. Did anyone else catch how that Model X changed colors throughout the day? Like - seriously, you can't keep consistency on a car your main character is driving? #nitpicky
  17. There are so many issues like that on this show. People show up left and right at various locations. It looks like they all have successful careers, but still can do breakfast whenever they feel like it.
  18. Did anyone else notice Marcus wearing an ear piece? Most noticeable during the redesign meeting. Direct line from Amber to drum up stupid reality moments?
  19. This dude was incredibly annoying. Did anyone else notice the insane amount of travel they did for this clown? Vegas to Florida to Chicago to LA to Chicago etc. That seemed like a lot for something that was fishy from the get go. Btw - his gaming company was apparently related to online poker tournaments. Good stuff right there.
  20. I think it's fine to mark 9/11 as the inspiration/legacy for this business. I would've done it differently though. That non-profit with the stars seemed super random to me. What is the connection? I'd put in a desert, like Apple Pie or whatever, and donate parts of the proceeds of that item to a 9/11 charity. That way you have a hook to the story, you drive sales, and can feel good about yourself. Apart from that - this episode was really boring. I second the notion that restaurant businesses should be in Ramsay/Irvine's court. There's no reason for Marcus to go in and save a small mom and pop shop at this point.
  21. As much as I like Crowe. For some reason I can't detach the actor from the character in this and it's super distracting to me.
  22. I hated the way they (TPTB and contestants (assuming it was somewhat forced)) handled the male models. From the porn music when they first entered to the whole objectification and "OMG hot flashes, I am SO distracted" banter. They could never do this with the female models. Why is this OK to do with the male ones?
  23. I do wonder if they could've made this whole testing thing work to some degree given proper development and process? I think doing 200 tests in that tiny box was clearly not possible, but I'd hope/think that some tests could be done with it, had it been developed/ R&D'd properly? Now, that'd probably cost more than the 900 Million that they spent, but it also could've turned into something good in the long run, no? I agree with the crazy make-up on her. That weird black eye look combined with the crazy red lips was just nuts. Fascinating story.
  24. I felt this episode felt super contrived. The whole T-Mobile pitch felt off to me. The end of the episode also was a bit phony. "You did all this yourself, no idea, no name, no contacts" Well, technically, I doubt they would've been able to get both a T-Mobile meeting and a meeting with the MLB if it hadn't been for Marcus. Their phone cases are pretty generic IMHO. There is nothing that really differentiates them. Missed opportunity - calling the wireless charger the Home Base for the MLB pitch.
  25. Right? It's like - "This is what a trip to Vegas will cost you" And then he shops ties and whatnot. I am really dumbfounded by this episode.
