  1. I loved this season! I knew Roland would win but it was definitely interesting to see those final moments. Callie had a great energy and enthusiasm. Kielyn probably should have tapped out sooner but she did made it over ¾ of the way through at least. That environment is so harsh . It’s hard to imagine spending a day in -30+ degree cold, let alone two weeks, and with the wind chill at that. The lake really does look like the surface of the moon.
  2. I will be very surprised if Roland doesn't win. He's by far one of the most skilled survivalists this show has ever had and seems to really thrive on being alone and in the wilderness. I think the only things that would keep him from making the 100 days is some freak accident or getting involuntarily pulled because of weight loss. There is also the chance that Kielyn makes it and they spilt the money. She definitely is an open book with her emotions, more so than most contestants but it looked like in this episode she went from being downright miserable to coming to terms with wanting to stay in and push through, so we'll see. Callie is a fantastic person but that frost bite in the preview they keep flashing looked pretty severe and would definitely require medical attention, unless it ends up being just dirt and is put in as a distraction.
  3. Finally I have actually caught up with this show. Amos – was that nature confirming his decision to tap? I have to say his shelter never looked all that durable for the winter anyway. I’m not sure whether to be impressed or exasperated with Kielyn. She had a bit of a breakdown but was again able to pick herself back up and we got to learn of her past Olympic dreams. Now Alone has become her Olympics. I’m curious how she’ll keep enduring in the 3 hour finale. I predict her and Roland to be neck and neck, may even end up finishing together. Callie looks to be doing good so far as well and has got the perfect arctic look down. Roland, Kielyn and Callie are some great and highly-skilled contestants. I hope next season can keep up that caliber.
  4. This is my issue with such large families. Even if the parents are super loving and attentive, it is simply not possible to give that many children the individual attention they each need, and the older kids inevitably end up having to take care of the younger ones because the parents can't do it all. Or if they are wealthy enough they can afford a handful of nannies. You would think after having the first set of twins that would be more than enough kids, but this woman just seems insane for having that many multiples pretty much back to back. And now they get even less privacy because of the TV crew in their house. Regardless of how nice they are, at the end of the day they are exploiting their children and should never have had that many in the first place.
  5. Watching back the preview it definitely looks like it's Amos whose shelter catches fire and sounds like Callie who gets frostbite so I think one or both of them end up having to tap out next episode. Kielyn is just an emotional person, I'm starting to think they may just be editing her to make her look more emotionally unstable but she's really hung through even though she definitely misses her husband a lot. I think her chances are good since she's had luck with fish, but I don't see how Roland doesn't go the 100 days unless he injures himself on the rock or is pulled for weight loss.
  6. Not another multiples show! 🤢 TLC really needs to stop. They are the Duggars but with D's.
  7. So basically the Hunger Games without having them kill each other off, then? lol 😮
  8. Is the show that willing to hand out multiple million dollars if more than one of them wins? My theory is that either all end up tapping out before the 100 days or more than one lasts and they have to split the money. That might also explain Roland's grumpy look, because he was hoping he wouldn't have to share (or maybe it really is just his personality). I definitely think the producers hoped for no one to make it so they don't have to pay out the full million but it really doesn't seem fair if no one walks away with any money. They're not even halfway through yet and there's only two episodes left so maybe two end up tapping out next episode and the remaining days get sped up a bit.
  9. I have to forward through the previews, way too much is revealed for my liking. It’s easy to recognize that it’s Callie who ends up with a bloody eyebrow from the first flash in episode 1 That pack of wolves surrounding Amos was intense . And a whole herd of musk ox! I think this is the best season yet. Amos is enduring but I hope the cold doesn’t get to him. I feel like his shelter could definitely use more work. I hope Roland is able to find a less dangerous fishing spot. I’m surprised Kielyn has hung around this long. She’s annoying but good on her for catching some fish.
  10. I wonder if the big predators around the lake have started to catch onto the show and the participant’s traps and are becoming a little more confident in braving the humans to get a taste of their meat this season. So if no one makes it to 100 days, is there a deal that whoever is the final one only takes $500,000 like in the previous season? That seems like it would make the most sense to me, and if 2 or more people make it the 100 days they have to split the million. I wouldn't say they necessarily go home with nothing. They might not get the money, but hopefully come back with a deeper understanding of themselves and their priorities in life with all that time to be alone and think.
  11. I don't really understand how so many people can watch a serious survival show where people have to kill animals in order to survive and win, then get all squicked out when... people kill animals? Especially in slave lake these past 2 seasons! Bow hunting can be pretty brutal but the reality of the hunt is it isn't always fast especially when it's such a massive beast like a musk ox. But a quick kill as humane as possible is ideal. Plus at the end of the day it is ultimately about who survives 100 days, not who is necessarily the most personable or likeable.
  12. That’s interesting, this season seems to be more popular but I guess I actually didn’t care for it nearly as much as the first. It had more of an American, less European feel to it thinking back on it and I detested Sandy and Jules and their storylines. Clara I didn’t care for much either and Hanna’s instant connection and loyalty to her and willingness to keep trying to help her even after the betrayal and her terrible attitude, I never really got whereas in last season Hanna and Sophie seemed a lot more natural together (even though she was kind of the stereotypical snooty teen). It’s a good show nonetheless and I look forward to the next season whenever that comes out.
  13. All I'll say is that if Adam doesn't want criticism or people complaining about them and dislikes how TLC instigates drama and portrays their family, he should stop putting them in the public eye so much and quit the show (hopefully this will be their last season). Easy solution.
  14. I see it, though IMHO Dark is miles more thought-provoking and underrated than ST and this is coming from someone who has never cared much for anything to do with time travel. Seeing it all come full circle in the end is very satisfying – well worth the wait time between seasons. I feel like I maybe would have gotten more from it if I had taken notes and watched videos better explaining things early on but I think I preferred just watching it play out and not analysing too closely.
  15. I never quite get half of what is going on and follow all the characters completely but I must say the soundtrack in all three seasons has been fantastic!
  16. I just finished S2 and enjoyed it even though this season felt a lot more like a teen drama and I do wish that there was more focus on Marissa. Dermot Mulroney was a surprise! I wonder what the significance of the list of young assassination targets are, other than them all posing some sort of implied threat to the power structure. I guess we will find out in the next season. There is so much they can do with this, it will be interesting to see where it goes.
  17. I don’t like this show or Danielle and Adam for exploiting their daughters and being fame hungry but some people can be pretty savage with commenting on the girls. Hazel may not be a beauty queen but she at least stands out from her sisters in that she has bright red hair and she has plenty of time to grow into her glasses.
  18. I will not be watching the show but I do occasionally watch their youtube channel out of curiosity to see how they’re growing up. Adam and Danielle may be marginally better parents than Jon and Kate were but I agree that the girls are really undisciplined and spoiled, they whine so much (especially Riley and Hazel), Riley will throw a mock tantrum over not getting something and they will just laugh it off instead of bothering to correct her. I know it isn’t easy to have that many little girls the same age, I can’t even imagine, but they will walk all over you if you don’t nip it in the bud fast, turn off the cameras for once and make some special moments with your daughters without it having to be filmed. They passed the cute stage at like 3 ½ and it’s getting really old now.
  19. I guess I'm in the minority here but I really like this show, I definitely think it's one of amazon's better original series and I found the acting pretty solid. I loved the original 2011 movie (super underrated!) as well but I find it hard to compare it with the show since they're both so different - the show is a lot more gritty and intense, the movie was more whimsical and art house. It is after all drama though so it isn't exactly meant to be realistic. Marissa's character and her dynamic with Hanna is really intriguing. I look forward to more character development in season 2 (and fingers crossed they find some way to revive Erik!).
  20. This season felt a little forced to me. The novelty and general wittiness of the first season wore off. I’m okay with a little suspension of disbelief but too much and it becomes a typical predictable bland drama, between the identical twin, Judy’s girlfriend’s roomie being the detective and the chief of police conveniently being involved with Steve’s deal with the Greek mafia and the detective seemingly letting Jen completely off the hook. The teenage son was really unbelievable, taking the car out for a drive to impress a snooty girl despite barely knowing how to drive and knowing he would be in a lot of trouble if caught, then later just happening upon the letters whilst snooping through Judy’s weed box. The irony of the stop sign and hit and run was too much though, I was not expecting that twist! Overall I think it’s something to watch but easily forgettable.
  21. Season 2 is now on Netflix! I really liked the first season, season 2 just didn't do it for me - a little too muddled and sloggy and the Easter theme wasn't as fun. I did enjoy Nick's 'resurrection' at the end though. Too many seasons and the comedy and originality starts to wear thin.
  22. I felt bad for those twins. With the sheer amount of smothering and hovering, she was the literal nightmare definition of a helicopter mom. Maybe overcompensating due to adopting so late in life? That mom clearly needed Jo more farrr more than the girls. The family that used cameras to spy on their kids was super cringy but using actual doorbells to alert the parents if they left their rooms at night is definitely a new one. Also found it ironic about how worried and uncomfortable she was with taking them to a psychiatrist and the possibility of medicating them more when.. you’ve already had them on medication since they were FIVE and apparently haven’t bothered to see a doctor since.
  23. Cue the swarm of youtube "family vloggers". Many of those kids could absolutely use Supernanny and their exploitative parents could learn a thing or two about how to put down the camera and actually parent.
  24. I just watched the “instagram-perfect” military family with the four little blond girls and was not very engaged. The two-year old’s tantrum that lasted all of ten minutes was actually rather impressive considering there’s been older kids in past seasons that have screamed for hours on end and I also didn’t think that little cut warranted being rushed to the hospital, but then again I don’t have kids so it’s hard to tell. I think my all-time favorite episode will always be that little British girl Meghan who screamed like a banshee and snarkily told Jo “unacceptable, not ‘unasseptable”. I wonder how she’s doing now, considering she’d probably be in her twenties.
  25. I know it’s the easiest thing to do with multiples but I hope that by the time they turn five they’ll stop dressing them all in the same outfit, especially since they’re getting to the age that individual personalities really start forming and at some point one or more will notice and want to differentiate herself from the rest of her sisters
