I am always catching clips of this show and can't believe how fake and overacted it is. It is obviously so fake I'll admit that I don't understand the appeal. The whole airport scene, Rosanna's "date", etc. I do feel bad for Rosanna some, she seems to operate at a 13 or 14 year old level and I'm not sure she was ready for the show or knew what she was getting herself into.

I don’t think much was revealed, beyond a brief allusion to Allie's having worked for the NSA. My guess is he leaked something Snowden style? In which case, probably should have thought about moving out of the US far earlier. This was a very eerie episode. I like how they always barely escape unscathed even though admittedly that's a bit of a trope. I think it's only going to get harder for the family now, though and the son having that gun and no one else knowing is setting the stage for something it seems. Can't wait for next week's.

Yeah, that's a good point. I did find the episode a little slow but it makes sense seeing as they were trudging through the desert and after 2 previous action-packed episodes it only made sense to slow down a little. This show definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout though even in a slower episode. Poor Chuy! I really hope he's okay in the next episode. He's the most sympathetic character for me so far. I'm so curious as to what Allie did that they've had to change their identities and are being hunted down by the feds and he's dragging his whole family along for the ride. Reminds me a little of the movie Running on Empty where you feel sympathy for the kids whose parents are fugitives but they just want a normal childhood.

RT is rotten. Ignore the bad critic reviews. There were plenty of those when Lost was around too. It's a good show, if you like a lot of mystery and intrigue, strong storyline and excellent acting. Has a lot of Ozark vibes. Probably isn't for everyone though. Justin Theroux is excellent. I do hope the discussion here picks up.

Well I'm glad they're moving the release up. The trailer reminds me a little of the Walking Dead.

Crikey! It's The Irwins - General Discussion
overtherainbow replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Crikey! It's The Irwins
True it may come naturally to her and Robert as it did Steve and she definitely shines in the spotlight but it seems obvious to me that Terri has carefully crafted their image to carry on Steve's legacy and follow in his footsteps. Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with that but Bindi acted like a mini adult from Steve's death, rarely ever got to just be a child with cameras on her so of course that was the world she grew up with and got used to. They are huge in the media and every little detail of their lives becomes picked apart. Call me bitter but I wouldn't wish fame on anyone. As far as "celebrities" go though the Irwins are certainly some of the better ones. -
I am thoroughly enjoying the series so far. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat and there's very little "teen drama". Very strong performances all around. It will be interesting to see what direction it goes.

Crikey! It's The Irwins - General Discussion

Fingers crossed that Bindi doesn't push her daughter into the spotlight to perform for the cameras from an early age like Terri did with her and Robert. Somehow I think it's doubtful though. They are obviously passionate about conservation but there's no denying Bindi was raised to be a performer and thrust into reality tv from a very young age. I hope their child gets offered more a normal childhood. -

I know right, TLC is such trash. I mean, look at the Gosselins and how messed up that family is, the Duggar fiasco, etc. Now they're going full on circus. "The Learning Channel" has become the loser channel, full of freak families all too happy to exploit their kids and the morbidly obese. -

Or did a single cake but with different sections if they wanted it. I get the need for them to retain their separate identities as they grow up but there's absolutely no need for 5 different giant cakes. These girls are spoiled rotten and likely have rotten little attitudes half the time to boot. -

Again on the speech issue, I think it's partially how multiples tend to be developmentally behind in language because they are around each other primarily and learn to mimic each other from an early age, partially Adam and Danielle not making much of an effort to correct them. Missing in person school during the time much of this was filmed probably didn't help since they would slowly improve from being around teachers and other kids than their sisters. I think Parker talks in a whispery voice/mumbles a lot because she's shy in front of the camera. Anyway, she's the one that does it the most and often sounds like she's got a stuffy nose or is sick. Am I the only one who rolls my eyes when I see those big dumb bows in little girls' hair? I know it's super common in Texas/the South in general (and yes I see them where I live often too) and many little girls love Jojo Siwa who keeps the trend going but I don't think they're cute or very practical, I guess I don't see the appeal. -
The Blended Bunch - General Discussion

I didn't think I would comment again but yes I think it is really selfish and awful that people would continue having children while knowing their children would get the same hereditary gene that basically equates to an early death sentence. Their choice, I guess but it's very morally icky to me. At this point, the kids are already there so I think they should be at least given as normal a life as possible. TLC is typically pretty bad/exploitative, but this family reallllly takes the cake. The backlash they are getting is 10000% deserved.- 121 replies

The Blended Bunch - General Discussion

I think this show is a hot mess. I clicked on after seeing previews and had to fastforward through all the screaming children. There is literally nothing interesting about this family, other than that they’re another big Mormon family on TV. It’s obvious Erica and Spencer made little effort to ease their kids into this situation and the oldest daughter’s resentment doesn’t surprise me one bit. She’s 10 so she doesn’t have much of a filter yet but I can hardly blame her for expressing herself. She may come off bratty but it doesn't seem like she's been given an outlet to speak her mind, and now there's these cameras in her house. They moved way too quickly into wanting to get together and be "one big blended family" without much thought to their kids, it feels very very fake. Also the whole premise essentially hinges exploiting their spouses death to be on this show, it does not sit right with me. also the name change definitely pisses me off. There is no reason why those kids shouldn't keep their father's surname, or at least be allowed the choice. It's unbelievable how selfish these people are. I feel for all of the kids. -

I think TLC is getting worse. I keep seeing previews for this new show "The Blended Bunch" apparently focusing on another yuuuuuge family, this time a blended one brought together by some tragedy and they show the little boy of about 3 or so sat on the toilet asking the mom if she can check to see if the poop is out yet, it's horrible. I don't think there's a thread made yet but I'm sure it will be coming. Parents that allow their children to be filmed half naked are disgusting people IMHO. -

They are very demanding and whiney little girls, which doesn't surprise me seeing as they've been spoiled all their lives and Adam and Danielle have never made much of an effort to teach them how to be properly grateful and thankful for things. I think they are becoming quite bratty and they aren't that little and cute anymore so it's becoming much harder to be brushed off. The world is going to be quite rough for them when they grow up and learn the world isn't all about them and TLC stops bankrolling their luxurious lifestyle (and I mean that for the whole family).- 4.0k replies

I mean, she already has no privacy with all the cameras that have followed them everywhere since she was like 5 and the quints were babies. Good parents don't exploit their kids for fame. -

I've always felt bad for Blayke, her 5 little sisters always have come before her and take up all the attention, even when the focus should be on her. I hope when she grows up she'll be able to go her own way and not be lumped into being "the older sister from outdaughtered" constantly. I saw Mady from K+8 held a lot of resentment as she was growing up because she was barely paid attention to, it's unfortunate I see the same thing happening with Blayke. -

Adam really can't spell. For how well their videos are edited, how hard is it to remember 'holiday' has only one l? Again, the amount of vacations they go on is ridiculous. -
Not sure what more Charlie Booker could make that could be darker than what we're currently having to live through, but I just hope it's more creative than the last series.

OutDaughtered - General Discussion
overtherainbow replied to Meredith Quill's topic in OutDaughtered
So my friend watches this show (a lot more often than I do, admittedly) and grew up in a very large family – she was one of seven, and a twin. They were pretty poor and she mentions a big trip to Disney world when she was around 11 as being the only vacation she remembers taking with the whole family, all squished in one car for an 18 hour drive straight through because they couldn’t afford plane tickets or to stay in a hotel for the night and wanted to make the most of it. The thing that especially annoys her is how many lavish vacations they take, all the fun opportunities they get, the massive house with endless toys and entertainment, etc that she never got. She thinks the Busbys are insanely spoiled. I told her that may be true but there’s no way they would be where they are in life were it not for the show and to be glad your parents didn’t film so much of your early childhood because no doubt, they are going to have issues later on in life and aren’t going to get everything handed to them on a silver platter for the rest of their lives. -

TYou're right, the girls aren’t as little and cute anymore and with shows like Sweet Home Sextuplets, Doubling Down With the Derricos, etc they are not very interesting or unique and TLC has shown they can easily be replaced. Then again the absolute train wreck that was K+8 had a long 10 year run so it is possible we could see them grow into teenagers. I feel bad for the girls. -

I agree, I think they could really use a Supernanny visit and Danielle and Adam need to put an end to the show and move on. I wonder if any of the girls have expressed interest in dressing in their own styles yet. They are going on six, will be in first grade next year and are still dressed in the same coordinated outfits most of the time. I actually think Parker is the most mature deep down, I feel for her because she's clearly an introspective kid and does NOT enjoy having cameras on her, she's also learned how to get attention when she wants it but she's come a very long way from a year ago imo. I think some people forget they are little girls and not everything they do needs to be picked at. -

I enjoyed it very much! It's already very eerie with the creepy kids that don't speak like it's the 1980s and background shadows and obviously there is something off about Dani. I definitely rushed through Hill House so I'm going to try to go slow and not binge this one all in one sitting. -

I think Riley has caught up to her sisters in terms of abilities. In the recent Q&A on their channel she answered like a fairly typical 5 year old would, not some prodigy that was skipped to kindergarten a year early (and is now repeating).
