  1. I had the choice of an engagement ring or the downpayment on the house...I've been in the house nearly 38 years...I didn't want a diamond anyway...a few years after we married he bought me a beautiful sapphirre ring that went well with with my wedding band...our matching bands hang on a chain together where they belong since he passed in 2015.
  2. Dementia has every shade of gray imaginable. Alzheimer's does not...Dementia can be a long slow process and respond to triggers that bring on bursts of lucidity.
  3. Perhaps...the elderly are very skilled at hiding their intake...She does have some cognitive loss as well as some interesting personality quirks, but her health issues haven't been resolved successfully.
  4. SMJ was suffering from a serious round of depression...plus probably dehydration which can cause dementia-like symptoms. Just like an old fire horse reacting to the bell, SMJ answered the midwife's call when needed. Lovely to see her regain her faith. Everything yet nothing about childbirth is beautiful. SMJ is a highly intelligent & rather esoteric character...she's very deep...
  5. Stay tuned for similar stories coming from other dance companies. This is so not new in the dance/entertainment world. The Casting Couch has been a thing since women began performing...and before that when men were playing all the parts.
  6. Shows what a fabulous actress Cleo King really is. And I love her voice. The scene where the men are hiding on the roof singing "Calypso" and she comes up the ladder and drowns them all out...
  7. I'm very happy this one is back on reruns...It was a great little show. It has a very realistic tackiness about it that makes me laugh out loud. I'm usually not a fan of vulgar, which this show certainly can be, but it's buried in the humor rather than being lead by vulgar. Carl's grandma is my favorite.
  8. I agree part of Jordann's cut was "weight" or rather lack of body tone. Otherwise, I agree her issues were very coachable. Was interested to find she's from the town where my son lives... Kylie isn't ready, as much as I like her, I hope she comes back strong next season. Ashley W needs to go...and should already be gone.
  9. Excellent job on rhinophyma Jorge...the swelling & redness wasn't gone yet in his postop scenes and he looked fabulous.
  10. It's a judging on poise under pressure...masquerading as a fashion show...Belk is the sponsor, so nothing we can do about it...I like Belk, shop there often online.
  11. It's Texas...they'd go with Wrangler...I do like the "daisy duke" inspired idea. However I doubt it will happen as mostly likely wouldn't be sophisticated enough for "The Brand"...
  12. Medical crimes...Phyllis is very astute so would see through so much. Or stumble upon a complex birth in a very odd place (say aboard the boat to Palma).
  13. Every Southern mama knows this word...if they were raised in the South, odds are they know it...other names are panties, chones, drawers, undies, unders, etc...
  14. It's OK not to be a Maddie fan...however, she was there as inspiration for the rookie candidates...She didn't make it her first year. So she shared with them what her post-cut year looked/felt like. 8 of them aren't going to make it...it's information they need.
  15. In 1966 Poplar was still a slum. Us middle & upper class folks had access to much more. My family doctor didn't prescribe birth control or perform vasectomies (strict Catholic, which was far more common then) and I'm sure would never have performed abortion. A few years later when I went in search of BC I went to Planned Parenthood where I was treated gently & professionally (at 17). Trixie needed proof to back up her suspicions. And her reactions while discussing this with Sister Julienne were because of her friend's death. She knows abortion is everywhere. She also knows its illegal. The illegality being so cavalierly treated by the Lady Emily is what grinds her gears. And yes, I see something brewing between Trixie & Matthew. AML wasn't as easily diagnosed in those days. It can be very aggressive, so her rapid decline is very common. Dessy loves Jacinta...the end. There may be a drunken confession in the future about his own bad behavior. Sister Frances wants to learn. I love her for that. And for knowing her limitations while realizing that if she is to serve the greater world she needs information. Sister Julienne's restrictions on reading the magazines are appropriate for a non secular community...Misss. Higgins reaction to Sister Hilda was priceless...there is something to love about the stuffy spinster.
  16. My daughter has PCOS that developed after the birth of her child (now 17). She had some random hair issues mostly on her upper lip, but that may also be genetic as her dad was on the hairy side. She dealt with all of it by laser... Last night's guy with all of his bumps was stupefying! I have a serious background in medicine...this is first diagnosis I've never heard of. I get the use of chemo since it's systemic. I hope he gets desired results.
  17. The feet folks use freestanding surgery centers...often the same places you would go for colonoscopies or other not-entering-the-body-cavity things. I had steroid injections (under heavy sedation in a surgery center) in my back. My LASIK surgery was done in the eye center with topical anesthesia (the surgeon & I chatted through the procedure). All that said, everything is done in the appropriate place. Surgery centers are generally cost effective as well. And it's day surgery...
  18. Cyril & Lucille are considered pillars of their community (both their Black community & the community at large). They will continue be very discreet & cautious as their relationship moves forward. Neither apparently believe in sex without marriage & commitment. Cyril won't marry until he feels he is worthy of his bride. Right now he isn't able to support a wife & family. He won't ask Lucille to wait. She's waiting by choice. So we shall wait with her.
  19. They do...because those types of foot procedures would be impossible under local anesthesia...I'd think the patient's would be hysterical even if sedated. Putting patients under general anesthesia is a risk unto its own and should be avoided whenever possible. Malpractice liability in order of risk: 1. Anesthesiology 2. Neurosurgery 3. Vascular Surgery 4. OB-Gyn 5....everyone else
  20. We're in 1966...I was 14...it was VERY different socially than it is now. There was a good bit of the rock'n'roll, free love lifestyle, but sex before marriage was still not nearly as common, especially among 'older' young adults, particularly those of strong faith. As for Sister Monica Joan, I think we'll find she's suffering from clinical depression possibly brought on by her recent injury and the medications she's been taking along with a component of mild dementia. Early dementia can often include periods of lucidity. She may snap out of it, she may not, but I think Sister Frances will be the key. Love the new 'habits'...but they are too short. Modern habits now are longer. Sister Frances even said one of the reasons she became a nun was so she wouldn't have to show her knees.
  21. I'm suspecting they will address the retiring, taking-a-break, injured, resigning vets in a single talking head and call it a day. Victoria was too prominent for the 3 years she tried out/made it without saying something. That she seems fine (Insta, etc) is a good thing, so no reason to hide her.
  22. Surgeons can & do operate for hours....However, in major cases there are TWO surgeons, primary & assistant...plus the OR staff...Dr. Lee is popping along alone with her MA, who rarely does the actually popping
