That was me who posted about not wanting tax dollars used to for condoms, birth control, etc,. I'm not interested in getting into an inevitably ugly debate, so I'll simply say there are a lot of things I don't think the government should be involved in and/or paying for. I work really hard and have made A LOT of sacrafices, and it makes me sick how much money is taken out of my paycheck by the government.

I thought this was very weak. Aside from the lunch with friends, especially Angela saying she wished her son would sell meth so that he'd be outside, this just didnt work for me.
-
I really like the jury plot, especially Gail O'Grady's cameo, but the rest didnt work for me.
-
I think the beat show is consistently at it's best when it pairs Jimmy & Kenny in story.
-
This is simply not true. Anyone can walk into any grocery store, pharmacy, or big box and get condoms, birth control, etc,. It is not the role of government to provide these things. If someone wants to have sex, then they need to pay for these things themselves. As a tax payer I should not be paying for someone else's birth control pills, condoms, etc,.

It's very possible that whatever the producers originally planned for Sloane, Olivia, Toby, etc., has changed based on viewer reaction.

I guess since neither Beth, not Jack, nor Kate was in the scene I wasnt really paying attention.

As a "bi bro", I do have to agree with those out in society who complain about the "agenda" being shoved down their throats. I think a lot of people in "the community" make their entire existance about being gay, etc., and demand that others accept them while simultaneously decrying the rights of others to disagree. Personally speaking, that I sometimes bang and date dudes is definitely the least-interesting and least-defining thing about me.

I'm not sure how many more ways I can say . . . Conviction has not been cancelled. IMHO, the bizarre and hard pivot back to Robin & Barney in season 8 killed the show. To make this not off-topic, I think season 4B killed this show. The plot made absolutely no sense and became way too dark. -

It's not. They are going to re-tool, possibly dumping everyone but Hayley and Merrin. Sunday will be completely overhauled; it's considered the big project for next fall. It's probably going to AFV, Thr Middle, another family comedy, Shark Tank, and a procedural. It's great that @Jean is coroborating what I've been told and re-iterated here. I actually spoke to my friend at ABC Studios this afternoon and she said ABC might add two additional hours of comedy next fall, Friday 9-10 and another hour on Sunday. Friday will be multi-cams, and Sunday will be singlecam with The Middle and likely Fresh or O'Neals, with the other staying on Tue with Housewife and Black-ish. Blackish may actually make the move to Tue before the end of this season. This further closes roads to Once being renewed. -
I will gladly handwave any possible inplausibility of Dr. Folksy Charm still being alive and coherent in 2016.

All of the above is exactly why I want Toby gone for good. If that objective is accomplished via death by heart-attack, then so be it.
-
Part of it is that they've only aired 8 episodes, so there are 14 left for Jan-May. My understanding is that with pre-emptions for Dancing, Bachelor, and a couple of ABC News specials, the show wont be taking a usual lenghty break this year.

I'm going to consider Olivia's dissapearance and Toby's death to bE the show's Channukkah and Christmas presents to me! She is so fucking awesome! I wish my one-liners were half as amazing as hers.

1) The budget for Shield five seasons of 22 eps each was "buried" in that for the first Avengers movie. 2) Conviction isnt done. Channing is trying to save her sister's show. 3) Quantico was explicitly mentioned in the recent Disney earnings report and call about the report. It's international sales are making ABC Studios a shit ton of money. 4) Once definitely wont be used to launch jack. It's viewers and now demos are lower than AFV. 5) Shark Tank will be on the move if ABC goes forward with a Friday comedy 4 block. Mark my words, ABC will be adding an hour of comedy next fall and Fri at 9 or Sun at 8 are the only available options. Look, Once was a successful show with six seasons and I believe almost 130 episodes. But the sun has set on it. It's just like when ABC cancelled Desperate and Home Makeover a few years ago. They were once huge hits that defined the network and Sunday nights, but their time came to an end and the network moved on. -
As bad as Phelps/Guza were at times, particularly from the summer of 2005 onward, there was always something to cling to, I recognized the characters, and at times the show on the whole truly was fantastic. While Ron & Frank's GH was also fantastic at times, notably the summer/fall of 2012 and fall/winter of 2013, for me starting in Mar 2014 it become unrecognizable, incredibly cheap looking and outright bad tv. I think Robin's horrible exit right into Sonny murdering AJ right into Dark Lewq is what did it. And then, again for me, by July 2015 I was done. There it was Michael instantly forgiving Sonny, right into a few episodes later than "well ya see, Helena . . . [commercial break] . . . and thats the whole story" right into Luke's awful exit that did it. It Jason hadnt announced his exit shortly thereafter, I wouldnt have even made it to Scrubs' departure. Maybe things have changed since Jan, but for me there wasnt any recognizable element left of the show I would race home from the bus after school to watch.

IIRC, there were two: one with EQ smirking at someone and then purple poofing herself, and the other I think was Charming on a horse. Of course Adam, and Eddy, would say that. Their Freeform show bombed, and they know that when this show is done they are unlikely to sell another at least to ABC. Designated is putting up huge live+3, C3, live+7, live+30, on-demand, and second screen/streaming numbers. Housewife isnsoing very well and like Blackish being financed by in-show advertising. Speechless is also solid. On top of that the studio is trying to save Quantico, Channing is trying to save Conviction, Sherwood and Iger want more comedy, and when you look at the revenue streams, politics, and real estate, the possible roads to renewal for Once are closing. Speaking exclusivly to the real estate, let's say they only add one additional hour of comedy next fall. That hour, like with the Tues expansion this year,.will come at the expense of drama, not alternative. So lets say ABc does something akin to this next fall: Mon: Dancing/drama Tue: 4 comedies/Inhumans & Shield Wed: 4 comedies/Designated Thu: 3 Shonda hours Fri: 4 comedies/2020 Sun: AFV/Shark/drama/drama So you have Once, Conviction, Quantico, potentially Time After Time, Catch, and Starcrossed, and whatever new dramas the network picks up, all fighting for three slots on the fall schedule. -
They would have to extend/renew a lot of actors and production contracts, and convince the Affiliates to stick it out a bit longer; I don't see any legitimate path forward after next Sep. I watched this show from 92 to this past Jan, and I genuinly loved many years, characters, and stories. So i'll definitely tune in for the last few weeks and hope I recognize it.

ABC has removed scenes of Once from its commercial for the Watch ABC app. -
They've very craftily extended and signed new contracts with "key personnel" that would allow them to produce shows until at least the thirs week of August 2017.

That awkward moment when the Oscar winning creator of American Crime "requests" AFV as his leadin instead of Once . . . -
GH is definitely done come next fall. The Affiliate Board of Govenors wants it dead and gone.

When the promo said "the next chapter . . .", I expected it to say "the last chapter . . .". And I still wouldnt be surprised if that change was made between now ans March.
