  1. "At this point, we don't know if [Derek's mother] is going to make it to the wedding ... or make it at all." Sheesh, that seemed a bit harsh.
  2. If she were around the office, she probably would have observed something, especially if Quinn were involved. Or Quinn would have briefed her. But she's off on her recruiting mission.
  3. Carrie intended to have Fara recruit/seduce Aayan, but he reacted like he was being zapped with a cattle prod everytime Fara touched him. I'm a bit unclear as to who knows about the uncle connection at this point -- so she likely believed her choices were pretty much limited to herself and Fara. [Edited for clarity]
  4. It's beyond Jessa's call now. She'll be married as scheduled and the pregnancy will be announced shortly.
  5. Nooooo! Saul! Carrie wasn't bedding Ayan the entire time - not sure why she couldn't have checked voicemail. Don't they have a super-secret emergency method of communicating for emergencies? @Izabella, Saul was following the guy who seems to have set up Sandy's death and threatened Ayan. He was described as an ISI thug. I'm enjoying this season.
  6. As the saying goes, barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. Looks like she got 2/3 there on her wedding day.
  7. I've decided that Abby is a long-running writers' joke. She is so over-the-top ridiculous that it's the only explanation I can accept. Maybe they're shooting for an Insane Abby meme or just want her death to be the most celebrated tv death in a looong time, When she was hiding her handgun while nonchalantly rooting through the closet with her crazy racoon eyes (worst makeover evah) and Ray looks her up and down, then says 'You look nice, Abbs,' I think I shouted, "Seriously, writers??!! Stop fucking with my sense of reality!"
  8. I bet she could find use for an extra hour these days.
  9. Abby is such a heinous character, nswooping in to be supermom with the side piece (love it!) along to prop her ego up instead of to help her daughter. I wanted to see more of Lena, as usual. ETA: I laughed when Brig noted that her mother doesn't have any friends.
  10. I loved this finale. I care about Nora, but I'm still torn between curiosity and annoyance with Hot Chief's fugue states. What a wonderfully done nightmarish scene with the white bunkhouses burning at the end and not being able to distinguish between dolls and GR people in the house. I thought it so cruel that the Wayne's baby mom would abandon her daughter like that after the disappearance, but the contrast with Nora wanting to explain why she was leaving worked for me. And yeah, I need to check on that soundtrack.
  11. Agreed that the chances of her following through dropped to nearly zero with the announcement. Too bad: this would have given her a measure of independence and self-confidence in something other than her reproductive system. She may also have a husband who wouldn't be threatened by her completing training (though I'm still reserving judgment on how into Duggarland Derick will become). It was also realistic that she could have achieved this. Oh well.
  12. The list looks like what two kids who equate marriage with playing house would dream up.
  13. Endorsed. I'm a periodic viewer and have been really impressed with Chris' approach in Ferguson. He's kept me tuning in.
  14. Cheers to Ollie including vassarfootball on the scroll list of impenetrable passwords!
  15. Seconded - I loved Eph's 'Duly Noted,' and was happy that this world has heard of vampires and vampire mythology. Strigoi - and I learned a lot from the wiki entry.
  16. Let's see - enjoyed the exploding cell phones and was thinking that a mash-up of the Chief's frustrated / angry phone calls would be amusing. Interesting that the Gary IN guy (with pregnant girl #2) professed to be a true believer in Wayne's hugs, yet had no problem spending a chunk of dwindling cash on blow. How does Wayne know where everyone is? He doesn't seem like he has the set up for tracking them via phone GPS. Maybe all the logistical conversations are occurring off-screen. It seemed like Wayne was perhaps being held someplace (albeit with cell phone access). That barking dog kept setting off my dog. I liked the flashes of the dog leaping out (of the mailbox) or up (at the window) reminescent of the bear on the cover of the Nat Geo magazine, but I don't know what it means. Hope someone remembered to give the dog water, too. I did like showing that Kevin was gulping down the prescription meds in addition to the alcohol -- the blackouts make more sense now, a few times I have wondered how he's still functioning as an alcoholic; the pills can be more insidious in terms of memory loss but easier to mask long-term abuse.
  17. Much improved over Gladys -- seeing Nora go through grief shopping and the divorce proceedings gave me a glimpse into her pre-event life. I liked hearing Matt's voicemail message as well. Although she evidently hadn't returned his calls (sounded like he had been calling for longer than she had been at the conference), her saving the messsage indicated she might be open to a reconciliation.
  18. They did a decent job of showing that Ann-Marie is co-dependent (at best) with Ansel, so her paralysis while Ansel was begging her to leave made sense. Chuckled at the neighbor asking if she was doing some winter gardening, given her dirt-streaked face. So much love for the Vombie Tardis shed! I'm very entertained by The Strain, enough to handwave the autopsy procedure and other bits.
  19. I don't remember her asking the question on the show. She fills out the form, so I thought she might be always checking it yes (perhaps subconciously), unable to think of her family members not being in a better place.
  20. ...and sports a better hairpiece.
  21. Thanks for clarification -- I didn't immediately think 'therapy' based on the usage of 'session,' but I can see how people picked that up. Any thoughts on Laurie's flash(back?) to the stoning? Did that imply her involvement, her suspicion / realization that the GR was responsible, or PTSD after finding the body? I also feel like there's not enough context for me to understand basic motivations.
  22. Yes - despite my dislike of the stalker resolution, I like the actor and that was a great line. Not to mention, if I were Vic, I'd be thinking that Walt is my best -- and perhaps only -- chance of getting out of there alive.
  23. I watched it live night, though the stoning was so gross (and the sound effects so splorshtastic) that I muted it and don't know really that I fully tuned back in for the rest of the episode, which I found completely confusing. I got the hints that the GR was behind the murder, but missed that Gladys somehow offered herself up as a martyr or otherwise was complicit in her own death. I thought the point of Laurie's vision of the stoning -- seemingly from a stonewielders viewpoint -- meant she also participated, but from the PrevTV article, maybe I was supposed to think this was just Laurie's flash to the horrific nature of the torture-death since she found the body. Then, in the PrevTV writeup: Wow - so I completely missed the therapist-patient relationship reveal (did we know that?). Like others, I took that conversation as a threat to Laurie. "Laurie, you remind me so much of Gladys ... who we just stoned to death! Muahahaha!" I guess the threat of a tortuous death could motivate deeper belief. It amused me that Gladys was described as feeling too much when the opening showed her coldly stepping over a stricken elderly man (who had called her a vile name in the previous screen). I figured the house alarm was the usual vague reference to the photo-thefts. I didn't get why Pastor Matt now has a packed living room -- maybe he's having his home services catered with all of his casino winnings? I might show up for the hot wings. Enjoyed Hot Cop's phone messages and convos with the fed ATFEC? agent, who certainly didn't inspire any confidence. This fell off the DVR. I'd swear off it, but watching it, then reading the explanations here amuses me because I usually do not miss major plot points as regularly as I do with this show.
  24. If in fact Ed Gorski saw the light and is giving up his obsession with Vic, I must have really missed whatever point the show was making or missed some nuance about him not being a stalker because that's not how stalking is resolved. Stalkers aren't gentlemanly romantics who politely bow out to allow the victim to pursue true love. If Walt is painted as a stalker-whisperer, then UGH, color me disgusted with the terribly facile treatment of a serious issue.
