  1. And he's kidnapped Kayla and/or Marlena how many times now? Yup, this is something new and exciting all right.
  2. I've gotta say, I'm REALLY getting sick of the Stefan anvils. No one even mentions his name for literally more than a YEAR and now every other person in every other conversation is talking about Stefan. It was really a stretch for Chloe to bring him up after all this time. And NOW, after how long (and how many machinations to get him), Gabi is admitting that she and Jake would never have made it - because of Stefan? Just bring him back and put him in some stupid plot. Just stop TALKING about him!
  3. Currently, you have to wait until 8:00PM to watch the current day's episode. Even when I watched it on the free tier the ads were still FAR fewer than when it showed on the network. Most episodes now have over 20 minutes of commercials - Peacock had less than 10 (I don't remember exactly how many but probably somewhere around 8 minutes.) My thought is they'll make it available earlier in the day.
  4. For at least the near future, Peacock will probably show DOOL on the free tier. Even with commercials, it isn't awful as they show fewer commercials than network TV. But you are correct that it is going to really suck for people that don't stream. If they don't want to watch on a computer (I know I never do) they either need a newer smart TV or a device like Roku, Chromecast, or Firestick. I know younger people who are intimidated by the thought, much less older ones.
  5. I kind of like this new format. We really didn't need to see the Football guys choir, Ava Swiss, Parmesan Cheese guy or some of the other acts again to know that they have absolutely no shot of winning this. If an act is 4, 5, or 6 there is NO WAY they will improve enough to win the show so sparing us having to sit through them again, only to have them eliminated in the semi-finals seems like a kindness. After all, did anyone REALLY enjoy watching the trailer park comic (was it Vicki Barbolack or something like that?) go through what seemed like 237 performances? I also really didn't miss the 8,327 shots of the contestants "on the bubble" while we were all encouraged to "instantly vote" for someone who was going to lose anyway.
  6. I have Hulu (not live - just the streaming service where I can watch shows the day after they air on TV.) Apparently NBC is going to remove ALL of their content from Hulu, forcing people who only stream to watch on Peacock. I don't really watch live TV so while I know Peacock offers some things live, I haven't really investigated if they will show their entire line-up live. Warner Brothers/Discovery Plus has just merged with HBO Max. I am old enough to remember the days when there were basically just 3 networks and PBS. I really think it is going to become an environment where there are only a few streaming services . You will be forced to subscribe to (and pay for) ALL of their content if you want to watch ANY of their content. Cable companies will offer equipment and bundling services - you'll be paying for convenience.
  7. Eh, if they can turn the necktie killer into a romantic lead they can reform Xander into a semi-worthwhile citizen of Salem. At least Sarah isn't running around town screeching to everyone that they MUST basically worship at Xander's feet. She realizes that some people still hate him - with good reason.
  8. This is a good idea. I want characters to actually DO something not just sit around talking about how much IN LOVE they are. And while I like both John and Steve, they are far too old to be going around playing adventure hero. I enjoyed it when Li Shin got Gabi to confess that she was the one who approached Ava with the bogus married to Jake scheme. It revealed things about Li's character and gave us a chance to learn more about him.
  9. This is what I want the show to do more with Xander and Sarah - rather than just have them sit around being schmoopy with each other. They were actually interesting back when they were sneaking around and discovering Ava was still alive. I think it would be fun to have them going around looking for evidence that the Salem PD is obviously too stupid to even consider looking for - complete with bad costumes if necessary.
  10. Because if Xander suspects Gwen he can't be sure he can actually tell Jack about it without worrying that Jack will repeat the same information to Gwen - giving her a chance to come up with a better alibi. It's bad enough the police tell everyone everything about any case they happen to have at the moment.
  11. I really think we were supposed to think that Days was sort of showing in current time and they just kept on showing it in current time but didn't show a year's worth of events - they basically lost a year of happenings rather than traveling a year in to the future. I really don't think we're supposed to think that none of the events happening in Salem are going to happen for another year and we're somehow privy to them now.
  12. I gave up cable in 2020. I originally signed up for YouTube TV (which is essentially cable but much cheaper) but dropped it when they thought it was a good idea to raise prices 30% in one month because they were now going to include a bunch of channels I never wanted in the first place - as I said, just like the cable companies. When I gave up YouTube, I was originally watching Days on the NBC app for free. (Roku users couldn't originally use Peacock until they worked out some revenue agreement.) After Peacock and Roku worked out an agreement, they then stopped carrying Days on the NBC app - forcing all viewers to go to Peacock - but you could still access it on the free tier. At the end of the 2021, Peacock ran a promo where you could sign up for Premium for a year for only $30.00. I did this only because I wanted to watch a couple shows I could only stream on Peacock Premium. I'm guessing that for at least the near future Peacock will continue to show regular Days on the free tier. I agree with all the posters who say this move is going to really cut down on the number of viewers for Days. I'm a younger boomer and fairly comfortable with technology and it took me a really long time to give up cable and turn to streaming - basically inertia and comfortability with what I was used to. I can't imagine trying to teach someone who still has cable if their package doesn't include Peacock how to switch input, and stream on their TV - assuming they either have a smart TV with WIFI or a streaming device. Many people who are not comfortable with technology won't even know where to start.
  13. Of course she hates her job. Do you KNOW how many times she's had to tell people their loved one is dead, only to have said person magically stroll back into the room? Not to mention the number of bad DNA results she's had to give? She's probably like, "What's even the point anymore?" She's probably gotten to the point where she feels like she's at least safe diagnosing a sprained ankle (but should really tell the person to get a second opinion anyway because someone will do something to prove her wrong.)
  14. OK, now I want this. Not the Abigail returning part, mostly just the Melinda Trask part. Show is turning her into the Justin version of a DA. Either she loses the case or gets blackmailed in to dropping it (looking at you Abe.)
  15. Actually, I thought that Marlena told him it WOULD be used against him if he remembered killing Abigail. If he wanted her to hypnotize him, he would have to waive doctor/patient confidentiality.
  16. I think a lot of us saw this one coming. Is there going to be another red herring before we find out it was someone completely random?
  17. Except Jan came out, wreaked a little havoc and went back into ANOTHER coma. Sami isn't the cause of the current problems between Shawn and Belle. It doesn't matter if she was in a coma or in the mental hospital she would probably have been released so Sami's actions aren't really relevant to the current situation. They could, on some level, be the reason that Belle chose to sleep with EJ - to get back at Sami. Unfortunately for Belle, EJ has made it very clear that given a choice between Sami and Belle, he would still pick Sami.
  18. I like Bo and I like Bope, but PLEASE, no more magic "back from the dead" devices!! Now someone dies and there is absolutely no impact whatsoever because we KNOW that at some point they will be magically resurrected. I've sort of been like "Yeah Chad, you're grieving, etc. blah, blah, blah." How long before an Abby recast arrives? We saw Jack have his organs donated, we saw Stefano's body recovered after several days being buried, we've seen actual funerals - hate to break it to the writers, but when someone is embalmed their veins are filled with embalming fluid - not conducive to not actually being dead. Yet we're supposed to believe that after Bo was embalmed and buried somehow this Maggie person got his body and cryogenically froze it? Because she was obsessed with him 30 something years ago? (People on soaps, REALLY never have a life, do they?) If they really want to bring the actor back, bring them back as someone who looks like the original person - or just bring them back as someone else without actually mentioning that they look like someone else (looking at you Josh Taylor.) I'm OK if the person disappears and is presumed dead a la Nick in the river, Jan in the river, even Ciara in the exploding car and they never found a body, but I hate it when we've seen an actual dead body and funeral and somehow it counts for nothing.
  19. This! On every show, every time, the person who "won" the fight goes over to the unconscious person, turning their back on the "vanquished" enemy - only to be hit on the head with something. Those fight scenes were beyond bad by the way, it looked like they were blocking the moves (not even performing) for the seventh grade play.
  20. Aww thanks, guys. Yes, we have one, that was probably a throw away. A friend trapped her and several of her kittens. She was able to place all of the kittens but she didn't find a home for mom cat. The cat sits by the cat door and watches all the other cats go in and out but hasn't actually set paw outside since we've had her. I think she's afraid that if she goes out she won't be able to get back in and she is NOT being trapped outside again.
  21. So I got another cat. Since sometimes sanity and I are nodding acquaintances, at best, I have a small room on the back of my garage that I've converted to a "cat room." There is a large picture window, a cat window seat and several ramps and perches mounted on the walls. They have a cat door that connects to a raised "catwalk" which leads to a ladder and a cat-fenced area - properly landscaped, of course. I have a small collection of stray/rescue cats that live there - both friendly and not friendly. (I tell myself that I'm still sane because none of these cats are actually in my house.) We went out of town and my cat sitter reported seeing a small black cat outside on our property. Before we even laid eyes on it - we discovered it had simply decided to move in to the pen. It figured out how to get in, a feat which, (knock wood) even most of the raccoons haven't figured out. It even figured out that the when the light was on, that meant someone was in the room putting out food. I NEVER feed them outside because I don't want to attract the aforementioned raccoons. We, of course, had to find a way to get it isolated because we didn't know what kind of diseases it could be carrying. I vaguely suspected that someone had simply seen our set-up and dumped their unwanted cat in our pen, but after getting him and taking him to the vet, it became really obvious that he's been on the streets for a really long time. His estimated age is between 5 and 8 years. He was not neutered. At some point he had broken his jaw and it healed funny, giving him a really wonky fang. He actually needed to have it and 2 other teeth pulled so he obviously hasn't had care in a while. He's quite skinny and has a coat that could best be described as "moth-eaten" but miraculously, tested clean for FIV and Leukemia. Since this doesn't seem like a cat I can really give to someone as a pet, it looks like he will, indeed, be permanent.
  22. I am probably the least competent person on the planet to care for a baby, but even I know that you don't simply hand over a baby because someone wants to "practice." So it's OK if they break this one? It doesn't really count because it's "practice"? If someone doesn't actually care what happens, maybe I'm more competent than I think. And yes, Shawn definitely needs someone appointed to manage his affairs.
  23. All I could think was how awful Lani is when she's trying to act like she's crying. If she can't actually sound like she's crying it would be better to underplay it with sniffles and catches in her voice. Instead she went for what sounded like some sort of wounded animal.
