  1. Mildly interested in a 'where are they now' with the really dusty retreads like Mars/Brit and Puppy/Amber. Would rather not see Tayler/Chance and Nathan/Skylar, who scare me. I mostly want to see the rest get their comeuppance(s)- which never happens, but I'll watch anyhow😏
  2. Was it just me, or did it seem like Dr Gates was trying pretty hard to get Angela and Jeh to admit that their white forebears (the guys who chose to stay with their black families) had done the best they could, considering they couldn't legally marry their ladies? Anyway, another Mayflower descendant?! And more 'how does that make you feel' prodding! It's getting old.
  3. Actually, she got to 9th place in S18 of the Voice. (Is it worth noting that Michael Williams also got to the Playoffs of the Voice S18)? I think there are quite a few pop singers auditioning most years, they just don't go far in the competition. Most of the pop singers now are either singer/songwriter types (Maddie Poppe, Alexandro, etc) or country-tinged (everybody else). Reactions vary: Like Luke, I wrote off Lucy Love after her first song, but was won over by the second one. But I agree that Lyric was not great on her first song, was terrible on 'Before He Cheats' and didn't deserve a ticket.
  4. The star of the episode (for me, for you): Monique's daisy dukes, which were being asked to do things no garment ever should be. Glad Travis escaped, but now I'm worried about that sweet little doxie.
  5. Ontario to Dublin- These 2 need to take better care of themselves; she barely squeezed into the shower in the first house, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have fit at all. So no drama about 'he wants Irish charm' - the place they picked looked just like something in an American suburb: a flat green space and endless rows of cookie-cutter houses. I didn't understand why she kept insisting they (she, really) HAD to have 4 bedrooms. Did she and hubby sleep separately? Or was the extra room for granny all along? Re. granny, I suspect that flat will never be built- even if zoning allows it, it would take up most of the yard. Also, since they've never quite understood the concept of 'alleys' in the UK, the family would have to put up with all the building materials being wheelbarrowed through the house, which would make me crazy.
  6. I think it's interesting that of all the people on this season, Ashley is the only one whose family seems to be entirely out of the picture (unless I missed something). Derek's Big Ma is something else! There've been a surprising number of admirable matriarchs on the show, but she gets top ranking imo. Lovely inside and out. Clearly some other influence produced weaselly little Derek and his janky-toothed dad.
  7. Anybody notice how Derek almost NEVER looks at Monique while they're talking? He purrs that he wants to make love to her, while looking down at the counter top.
  8. What a bloated waste of oxygen. She sure had an award-winning litany of excuses, though. I especially like when these folks think they're literally going to starve to death if they miss one meal- LaTonya upped the ante on that one, though, by insisting-to a world famous doctor!- that medications should never be taken on an empty stomach. Loved finally seeing Dr. Now dust his hands and turn his back on this ingrate.
  9. Having been (unknowingly) in a long relationship with a pedophile who was attracted to just-pubescent girls, I guarantee that similar freaks are drooling over these ads. They'd still be turned on if she were in jeans and a teeshirt, but the girl's skimpy stage outfit, makeup, and suggestion of sexuality in her walk would be irresistible to a pedo. (Mine hoarded torn-out pages of Sears catalog 'training' bras pics-yes, long ago but still nauseating). So theoretically it's the kid's right to wear whatever, but I tell you as one who knows, that the parents should have objected.
  10. Even if she did lose a lot of weight, I don't think she'd ever be mobile. We've seen lots of big people who lurched around painfully, but LaTonya seems weirdly bent. Not that it matters now. Bye, LaTonya.
  11. On the list of sad stories, LaTonya's barely registers. It's sad that her mom died young and that LaTonya had to find her that way, but it was 25 years ago. Most people would have lived their lives and the grief would have softened, but from what she's saying, she basically hasn't done anything but eat for all that time.
  12. Yes, and the other Jareds ad with the Asian woman talking about some guy who 'chose her as his daughter' to walk her fatherless ass down the aisle. Both of these woman are terrible actors and it doesn't help that they fail to produce any actual tears. I know the M&M (Ma&Ya) ads have been discussed, but the latest one is SOOOO stupid, with the clam-filled candy. I just don't find this quirky or transgressive or whatever the hell it's supposed to be. It's not even faintly amusing, imo, just try-hard. I hope this back fires on Mars Co.
  13. Watched S12 episode 2 last night, and I can't say I'm feeling the new medical examiner. Not that it surprised me, but it seemed kind of rude to come to the soldier's funeral, but then go stomping out of the church just as it was getting started. Also, can anyone clue me in as to where the 500 pounds came from that she gave to the shelter?
  14. I don't understand why Ashley's business went in the dumper during Covid. She doesn't have a bricks-and-mortar store, so all she's doing is buying stuff and re-selling it online, right? I realize that if she were actually going to flea markets, that probably stopped during Covid, but then why did she say she spent $70K during the last 2 years*? I assume she was buying her merch online, no? Ecommerce was actually pretty hot up until recently, and I doubt that any of her jewelry is high-end. She should have been doing fine. It would also seem that she must have been in dire straits when she applied to be on LAL, and we know it doesn't pay very well, so was she willing to have her business failure revealed on national television? Why? smh * unless she meant she spent on $70K on her extravagant lifestyle? I thought since she was talking about her business, she meant she spent it on inventory...🤷‍♀️
  15. It's old (2016) and only has one season, but I enjoyed 'New Blood' on Britbox. Not too violent or deep, but some clever plot twists and engaging leads. The only thing I didn't like was the way the show is shot, with the 'change of location or time' being signalled by loud, flash-frame shots that give it a rather dated feel.
  16. Did I miss the part about Niecy's childhood? I heard that her parents divorced, but then the story skipped to her brother being killed when she was 23 or 24. She was able to go to college, so apparently she had some support system; I wasn't sure why HLG was comparing her early life to the truly rough start of Carol Burnett. Carol's success being fueled by the financial help from a complete stranger was amazing (to me). I also wanted to hear something about how Carol's last name changed from Burget (her patriot ancestor Lambert) to Burnett. I teared up at Niecy's little speech about her mantra 'no matter what'.
  17. I find each iteration of the Skyrizi jingle slightly more bearable, what's wrong with me??? I caught myself singing along with the latest one last night. I'm very, very sick of the Liberty Mutual 'pie eating contest', but a contender would be their 'car wash' ad-although we do at least get to see Doug getting slapped in the face by the wet, sudsy flaps.
  18. Is 'Montana Mills' considered a good rapper? I'm old and mostly hate the kind of rap that's all 'Here I am barking out a bunch of rhyming words', which seemed to be what he was doing. Justine was loooving the idea of uprooting her family (and again depriving his kids of their father) to live in luxury in Las Vegas. Don't hold your breath, J. Re. the 'cliffhanger' of the car following Mo and Li'l Man: I'd love to see Mo burst out her car door like Tai, ready to rumble-boobs akimbo-with the 2 wicked stepsisters, but she's more agile with her mouth and her texting fingers than her fists (or anything else, I suppose). Speaking of boobs, am I the only who thought the design on Aris' tee shirt was of buttons in buttonholes? Also, I somehow didn't realize that Cameron is another tiny felon (are short guys over-represented in the prison population?) Why did Ashley (? the sunburned cryer) work so hard to convince Travis that she was rolling in money? Looks like she spent all her capital on diamond ring pool toys and moonlight boat rides. Prediction: her next crying jag won't be due to overwhelming joy. I think Skylar and Gracie are our first LAL convicts with vocal fry, right?
  19. It really looked like just naturally bushy hair. I did wonder, though, if they could have afforded a better place if the wife got a job. I now also wonder why she didn't work at his shop-at least part time-then they could eat lunch together at a pretty outdoors cafe instead of in the cramped, terrace-free apartment.
  20. I liked the Valencia couple, too, and agreed with the wife on loving that 3rd apartment. It didn't seem that she was working, though, so even though that one was only $100 more, it made sense to choose the cheap one. Also, spending more just so the 2 nephews could 'run around' seemed stupid. The husband had an amazing head of hair. His new shop was teeny, and seemed to be mostly tee shirts, so good luck to him. I thought him insisting on coming home for lunch was kind of weird, but then he said his hours were 9-9, so he'd never see his wife otherwise.
  21. I agree. Claire Danes seemed to take every bit of info and over-analyze or intellectualize it, rather than project any straight-forward emotion. I was especially annoyed at her calling Margaret Scott's execution a 'tragedy'. Honey, a tragedy would be 'she fell in the river and drowned'. Being hanged for supposedly being a witch is 'INJUSTICE'. Jeff Danels looks older than 67 to me. In general, he didn't seem to be really connecting to his ancestral history, not sure if he didn't understand or didn't have enough history background to evaluate the info.
  22. WHY are Medicare supplement ads running again?? I thought after Dec. 7th (I think that was the deadline)2023 was OVER. Are these for getting people enrolled or changed for 2024?
  23. I've watched this show since it began, and I could swear Dr. Gates has said several times that it's actually fairly rare.
  24. I can't believe there haven't been any comments about: Force Factor fake medicine with 'Richard Johnson' playing golf accompanied by a cute blond woman. He tries to hit the ball, but his club goes limp. She seductively suggests that he take Force Factor and- his club stiffens right up. 'Score!' he cries. How subtle, yeesh. Wush ear cleaning device. A very hairy man agressively demonstrates this complicated water-squirting thing, and at the end he says something like 'So WUSH your ears, you dirty you'! with a playful smirk. Bizarre.
  25. Yeah, in person he has zero charisma. It's funny, because the only thing I remember him for is American History X, where he was super compelling and violent. I don't care for the 'and 17 zillion ancestors back, you're related to Attila the Hun (or whatever)' stuff. I suspect there are LOTS of people now on earth who are tangentially related to Pocohantas and Rolfe. Sometimes it seems that this is just a vehicle for celebrities to beat their breasts over their evildoing ancestors- or, of course, to bask in the glow of their ancestral virtues- sometimes both in the same hour 😏
