  1. I hope he lies low until this (hopefully) blows over, even if it takes a year. This is so unfair to him, IMO. The #metoo thing is going to eat itself.
  2. No kidding. I was baffled as to what he was seeing in her, although she did have nice shiny hair. I wanted to smack her when she said she didn't care about either the budget or the long commute (for him). I don't think she ever got a job, either, to help him out. Bern looks like it's in a completely gorgeous setting, though, and I don't blame her for wanting to live there.
  3. I seem to end up cooking dinner during this show, so it's entirely possible that I missed this plot point, but were we ever told if there was some reason Ruth went about her revenge in such melodramatic manner? Was she influenced by the book's gruesome illustrations, or was she just supposed to be someone who had been brought up with heavy doses of Old Testament? Also, is it really within an average-sized woman's ability to saw off a head? I can see rage getting her through the throat-slitting, maybe, but decapitation would take premeditation (having an appropriate tool) and strength. I'm fairly fit, but I have problems deboning a chicken, much less cutting through a human man's skin, muscle, tendons and bone!
  4. I didn't see the original run of James' episode, so this is all new to me, although of course, I am WELL aware of 'Ow, Mah Laig'! I actually gasped when the voiceover called Lisa his wife (or maybe girlfriend, can't recall). I assumed she was his mother. Of course, she might as well have been his mother, for all the romance/tenderness there was(n't) between these 2 freaks.
  5. Not just that- it had only a microwave for cooking. There wasn't even a hotplate in that one. I think it did have a tiny fridge and sink, but that was it. The apartment itself wasn't bad otherwise, but who would rent a place with such a kitchen? OTOH, I'm tired of the wife acting like her entire life will revolve around making meals. I wonder what it is she thinks she's going to be cooking in Bangalore? Unless she's already a pretty experienced and adventurous cook, has she considered what kind of groceries will be available? Since India had a long history with the UK, I assume there are some expat stores that sell crumpets or something, but I doubt that she'll be able to locate ingredients for mac 'n' cheese or tuna casserole or whatever she used to make in Ypsilanti, MI. She did look rather unconventional, but her reactions to kitchens were so June Cleaver.
  6. I'm glad to see common sense is pretty much the prevailing sentiment here. This woman wasn't chained to the radiator, she could have left any time. And even if she has 'proof' of black balling, how can she prove it has something to do with the alleged assault (if that's her intent)? Does she have a recording of him telling a producer 'don't hire her, she didn't want me to sleep with her one time but I did anyway'. Otherwise, what does she mean? Is it illegal to black ball people because, say, they're terrible actors, or chronically late or something? Maybe it is, I'm no lawyer. Anyway, this is amusing to me, because I remember being surprised to read in 2016 that Hardwick had married (a woman). I always assumed he of the carefully tousled hair and curated nerd clothes, was gay.
  7. Except for the bathroom, which didn't look like it was wide enough for someone tall (like him) to sit on a toilet without their knees touching the wall- that would be a deal killer for me. The rest of it was nice, though. I thought they were a cute couple; she certainly knew how to turn on the dimples, etc, to persuade hubby.
  8. Blow-Up Boobs: now here's my idea of sexy- my BF/husband injects saline solution into my boobs before he makes 'love' to me. Just that tumor-looking port would seem to be a huge turnoff to a sane person. And really, they're so distorted already, what difference does a (relatively) small size difference make? it also looked like she had heavily tanned her chest, I'm sure that won't make the skin even more likely to tear at some point. Weird Booty ended up looking really good; wonder why Dr. Terry was so apprehensive, it looked like it was a pretty simple surgery. Wouldn't he have x-rayed her beforehand to make sure there wasn't any spinal involvement?
  9. She also kept saying she needed a bright/well-lit space 'for her photography work'- why? is she planning on just taking photos in the apartment? I detest the women (it always seems to be the woman) who claim 'this isn't what I pictured' when poo-poo'ing some negative of the apartment they're viewing. That first place was very pretty and not at all generic. I'm also a bit sick of the men always being 'logical' and by inference 'heartless', vs. wifie who is always 'creative' and 'emotional/romantic'. The baby in the darling (to me) knit bonnet is probably basically bald, and it looked like this was filmed during cool weather; I doubt Amsterdammers (or whatever they're called) turn on the heat as soon as the temp drops below 70 the way we do.
  10. I missed the beginning of this episode and didn't hear how the husband died. However, I'm going to be judgey anyway- your kids just went through the worst trauma they'll (hopefully) ever experience and your solution is to remove them from their school, family, friends and familiar surroundings? I could see a brief time out in a different place, but 'Mediterranean paradise' seems more like an adult fantasy of escape. And who would tramp around a hot city wearing a big heavy looking dress with closed-toe heeled mary jane pumps? She had a beautiful face, but that hair looked like a fright wig- it reminded me of the alien girl in 'The Fifth Element'.
  11. So the murderer of Lauren was basically a thrill-killer who thought he could get away with it? I realize dude was crazy and evil, but seriously- was this whole 'perfect murder' hinging on the garbage truck removing the evidence/body BEFORE the cops came? Because that seems kind of risky and sloppy. He was almost out of law school, so he couldn't have been stupid, and presumably was familiar with some police procedures; how could he not know about Luminol? Even without a body, I would think the state could have made a good case against him. I had to roll my eyes, though, at the sheriff/top cop saying that they tried to keep the investigation 'low profile', by concealing the scene of the crime with what looked like bright orange sheets.
  12. She was a sales rep for a drug company- good ones are pretty well-compensated, so I wonder why she HAD to retire along with him. If they would have moved out of the DC corridor they could have afforded something reasonable for $200K, especially if she continued working. They certainly didn't seem like they enjoyed each other's company much. As an old, I can say that until you start to have health problems, it's hard to envision just how much such things can change your attitude toward 'adventure' and risk taking. That said, she looked kind of rough, especially considering the way she kept claiming to be so much younger than the husband. She also seemed to walk rather stiffly, and I kept wondering just how much activity she was really capable of ('I have to be able to walk to the shops and cafes!')
  13. Cat/nose woman- her mom looked like her big sister (although their coloring was so different). I suspect that if the patient had done her hair/makeup and dressed up at the start, she would still have looked pretty good. She did look gorgeous after, though. Ugh at the 'now I can start my life' crap. I don't think the doctors realize they're not that interesting or attractive; I really don't care about their sexual/macho rivalry issues.
  14. That top was cat heads, I think, not monkeys! But yeah, she seems to be a 'Noted Kook', as the Fug Girls call them. Startling, since I only know her from Will and Grace, where Karen is usually severely tailored (though low cut) and always in dark colors. I was expecting something more interesting for Meghan, this was just another 'history repeats itself' episode. I would like to have heard her talk about the way her own ambition and wealth had given her the freedom of choice her ancestors lacked. (Not that rich women never marry abusive men...)
  15. Reno to Costa Rica-Every other word from those 2 was 'awesome'. I couldn't figure out why this woman didn't just try renting at first, to make sure she was actually going to be able to support herself and liked the lifestyle. I'm guessing she got some $$ from the divorce and is using that for the property payment. I can't imagine being a single, 50-something woman, moving to a place I've never been, putting all my savings down on a property and just hoping it all works out. Oh, and expecting not to have to work a 9-5 job! Good luck to her. She looked like her skin was getting seriously fried in that last shot.
  16. I like episodes like Jon Cryer's that go waaaay back and encompass another continent. Loved seeing Durham cathedral and imagining it being used as a big prisoner of war jail. I knew about indentured servitude, but always thought it was more or less voluntary- an unpleasant choice to work for next to nothing for several years, in return for passage to the new world and a chance at a fresh start. I had no idea it was something prisoners of war could be forced into (I don't think they mentioned what would happen to anyone who didn't sign the contract?) I liked seeing it turn out well for the poor guy, although I'm sure it didn't for most. Laverne is on my IHL, and this just reinforced that. I watched Liv Tyler's episode right before this, and she was so natural, just stomping around like a normal person. Laverne poses and struts like she's on a red carpet at all times, even if she's just going into some tin roofed county courthouse in the sticks. Also, I really didn't need to hear her big revelation that 'slavery...it was all about...MONEY!!!' Oh, say it isn't so! Ugh. Also, nothing gets my back up like fake crying; again, Liv Tyler had tears trickling down her cheeks several times as she contemplated her ancestor's story. Laverne 'choked up' and made crying faces, but nothing emerged from her tear ducts. I did enjoy seeing her chagrin at finding out she's not native American; I was surprised she had so little European blood, though. She's very beautiful, but I wanted to see old photos of her as a little boy-or did I miss that?
  17. Well, it's all white (all blond, too!) this year, but I don't think Maddie is country at all. The Voice usually has 'some urban appeal' (minority men won the first 2 seasons and there seem to be more AA singers who get to the finals), but it's rating were pretty even with Idol's this year, at least. Both shows have older, non-urban audiences, so they're not going to vote for rappers or even hip-hoppers (assuming any of them would ever even audition).
  18. The other 2 sound current? Switching back and forth between AI and the Billboard awards, there's a huge gap between 1) winning a singing competition and 2) winning in the real music world. I hope the show tomorrow night is as much fun as the old Fox ones used to be, but honestly, there's no star power to draw viewers this year.
  19. So some belated questions about the Lane situation. Was her scam to mis-diagnose patients so that she could make money off treatments (which they didn't need)? Are there really not enough actual cancer patients out there to make money off of? I don't see how this would be so profitable, especially compared to the risk. Or was she trying to set herself up as a genius/savior who has some miraculous cancer-curing powers? Again, wouldn't that sooner or later attract attention and investigation? Also didn't understand her cleanup efforts (burning her records). Surely there are also digital records, but she didn't seem to be doing anything computer-y ? And even if she had burned the stuff and erased the digital evidence, wouldn't that in itself have been a huge red flag for investigators? Surely they would have been able to figure out there were a lot of missing records. Unless she had blown up or burned up her offices, it would be obvious she had tampered with the records, right?
  20. NJ to Antwerp- I couldn't understand why the builders hadn't just made that corridor (with the 3 doors) into a big bathroom, it looked like there would have been plenty of space. I agree this was probably a student or rooming house solution ( a lousy one). When this episode started, I couldn't stand the husband, but he was OK by the end. I sympathize with his lack of enthusiasm for the long commute and the need to search for a parking spot every night. I was also impressed that the obligatory party scene at the end included people who weren't expats or real estate agents. The kids' hair was fabulous (it's so sad that color doesn't last)- hopefully they each inherit the best of their parents' features, who were indeed homely. Maybe the '65 steps' to get to their apartment will get them in shape! (She needs to consider white strips, though).
  21. Yes, yes, and no. Top 3: how very season 10, with Maddie in place of Hailey. Maddie may have more of a chance than Hailey did, by virtue of her rather placid, pleasant personality and performing style/genre. Disney should be very happy with any of these as winners, but I suspect they'd loooove Gabby.
  22. And didn't the Vermont/Dominican Republic mom actually say 'I always wanted to live in a tropical paradise', as her other rationale for taking her boy little boy away from that lovely farm? She looked like an out-of-shape Rockette with a bad boob job. And those apartments were all pretty atrocious; if she wanted a warmer climate and Spanish-language speakers her kid could interact with, why not just go to Florida? And can an English teacher there actually teach effectively without understanding Spanish herself?
  23. Do you mean, Sheila E had something to do with clearing the songs, or do you mean 'went along with' as in 'I approve of this amateur hour use of a genius's work'? She said she wanted a new generation to appreciate Prince, so... I assume Prince's family are now the owners of his catalog/rights and are thus to blame for releasing them to AI. Expect to hear Nothing Compares 2 U used for a car commercial soon.
  24. LOL; that was terrible. And 'Jungle Love' was everything I expected (ridiculous). Glad fake-ass Catie is gone. She was also terrible on both her songs, but what killed her for me was that whole cringe worthy sequence with Nick Jonas, good lord. Jurnee just wasn't ready for this-wrong songs, and very nervous. So glad Michael survived one (I suspect) last time. His song choices sucked too. Next week being Carrie's songbook should work for him, but I think it's clear the show is going for yet another country duo plus one (probably Maddie or-ugh-Mr. Grunty).
  25. Yas! You know how there are those lists of 'best rock songs' and 'Satisfaction' is almost always #1? Nuh uh. I always think it should be 'Little Red Corvette'. Look at the spoilers topic in this forum for a list of the songs they're doing. And I agree, not a shred of edge in this group. Not just 'versatile vocally', as he said, but could also bring the attitude to change things up.
