  1. Preface this by saying, with this show I know future scenes can totally change what's been shown. But with what we've been told and shown so far, I don't think there has been a lot of bad between Kevin and Sophie. He cheated on her once and was shattered by it. He felt so guilty he couldn't look at her and he came clean about it. When she gave him another chance, he realized his addiction would destroy them, so he decided to end things before he hurt her even more. Knowing he needed to get himself clean first. Kevin has been in love with Sophie since he was a young boy and his love for her only grew. Sophie has been shown as a strong woman, the strongest woman on this show. Beth as well to a lesser extent. Sophie didn't give up her dreams to follow Kevin's. She became the nurse she wanted to be. Sophie didn't ignore the cheating, she left. She's loved Kevin her whole life, but she didn't accept being mistreated by him. They may not end up together, but for this show, Sophie is the only woman Kevin has truly loved.
  2. Not really. They're in their 40's. When you know, you know. They seem perfect for each other and I liked how happy she was at the idea. It's just an engagement at this point maybe it will be months until a wedding for them.
  3. If the show was going to be realistic about this divorce Kate would have to downsize and rarely have time with the kids. They would have to sell the LA home, split the proceeds (maybe not much since they haven't been there long). Toby would not be able to get as nice of a place in SF as he was looking at. Kate would have to find a full time job that she might not like as long as it pays well. Neither one would have much time with the kids. They would be with caregivers the most. Kate would basically feed them dinner and get them to bed and have every other weekend with them (same for Toby). So the kids will be in two new places instead of one and Toby would have them half of the time without Kate around (since Kate is concerned that Toby isn't as safe as she is, she would be even more stressed out over them being alone with him half of the time). Makes more sense for them to find a good marriage counselor to at least help them until the kids are in school full time if not longer.
  4. Great episode. I always enjoy the Rebecca/Randall scenes.
  5. At this point we don't know how long Rebecca will need a live in caretaker. Months, years? They are planning on at least her and Miguel living in the cabin by time she needs it, so they could sell their California home. That should give them over a million dollars by itself and I have no idea how much medicare helps, plus retirement funds. If it isn't for too many years, Rebecca and Miguel could most likely pay for it themselves, but no doubt the kids would help if needed.
  6. Um, yes they did. Kate has Sophie's new phone number. They just never addressed the situation before probably. You keep saying Sophie when it's Madison.
  7. Really liked college Beth and Randall and present day Randall was great too in this episode. Little girl Beth was so adorable. Agree with everyone that Beth's phone call at the end was not done well at all. I could see Sophie being upset with Kate at that time because she was just devastated by her husband and then found out her best friend knew. It was too raw still to think rationally. I do think it strained the relationship between Kate and Sophie, so that they aren't best friends, but they do seem to still keep in touch. I liked seeing them refer to each other as Thelma and Louise again. As for Madison and Elijah moving too fast, seems very Madison. Actually slow for her, shouldn't she be pregnant with triplets by him already?! Elijah, she is not out of your league. You two are perfect for each other. Both average looking, dopey nerds who really enjoy being together. I think they are together forever or else they wouldn't have bothered using him this much.
  8. Heather and Terry come off as fake in their family scenes. Pretending to do gardening while having a scripted conversation with Kat to show what a loving, supportive parent she is. Yet, her 14 year old has unsupervised videos that she is posting from her bedroom to social media. Heather has absolutely no idea what she posts on her accounts or what the websites are about. Who knows where else or what else she is posting. Not her parents. They seem totally checked out as parents. The girls hate each other. Everyone has their own section of the house and seem to barely interact. Just give them the newest gadgets and leave them alone. See you in a couple of months for our next family meal at a restaurant. Kat seemed so happy to have five minutes of Heather's attention when they were doing their talking heads together. Max seems maybe upset that Kat is taking from her storyline this season. Like wait until next season when she's away at college.
  9. I didn't see last season. Can anyone tell me if Rebecca did that clinical trial? Or was that whole Randall and Kevin fight over nothing?
  10. Aww. Mine are: 1. Sophie 2. Sophie 3. Sophie 4. Did I mention Sophie! LOL I know I'm in the minority here but I just love them together. I've only seen Kevin truly in love with Sophie, so I really want that for him. To finally get it right with her.
  11. When Deja was talking about having lived a hard life, Randall and Beth should have said that's why you need to slow down and just be a kid for the next couple of years. Randall should have asked Malik what he would want for Janelle when she's a junior in high school. Pretty good episode, I liked seeing Rebecca and Miguel, Nicky and Edie, Beth and Randall and Annie!
  12. Margaret has no room to talk about Jennifer's nose. Margaret looks like the joker.
  13. Randall has Beth and his adult children. Randall has probably been around Rebecca a lot and maybe has come to terms with it being the end. Toby probably hasn't been around her or the family much. Everyone seems sad to me in those scenes, though.
  14. I think it's because Rebecca is dying. Everyone is there to say goodbye to Rebecca.
  15. It was a combination of things. Jack called his father because he was angry at him for missing out on time and memories with his mother. The impact of the abuse didn't end when she left the dad. The abuse and the dad still loomed large over them and caused the distance in the relationship they could have had. Finances were tight and it would be a lot for the family of five to impose on Debbie. To drive four hours, stay for a couple and drive four hours back would be a lot with three young children. Also, they always thought there would be more time. Someday.
  16. Wow. Best episode in years. Reminded me of the early seasons when this show was so good. The show is and always has been about the Pearson family of five and the people that come and go in their lives. Jack's life story is just as, if not more, important than the other four. His life and death has made the biggest impact on the others. I don't think Rebecca and Miguel could be happy together if they didn't have the love for Jack in common. A man who didn't know Jack wouldn't be happy in this family. This has never been a linear show, getting from point A to point B. It's always been past, present & future intertwined. It's the story of all five of their lives and I wish we had more of Jack the past couple of years.
  17. I could see Phillip having died before the future scenes at Kevin's house and showing Kate and Toby reconnecting at Rebecca's death. Leaving us with a hint of them getting back together. Though, Jack's future scene with his wife didn't suggest that. Maybe they show up together at Jack's house or his concert in the later future?
  18. Interesting. Thought father's had more rights. I agree that Jenny should have found a way to tell Joe, just can understand a little more how it happened. I think she felt an obligation to Ray stemming from how her father is and how he raised her.
  19. Jenny wasn't wearing a wedding ring, wrong hand, wrong finger. I do have a bit more understanding for CopJenny and Ray. Joe was her best friend and she was dealing with her mom dying. She tried for MONTHS to get ahold of him. To her it seemed like he abandoned her at the very worst time of her life. She felt like he used her and couldn't even return her call. On top of that, going through the grief, I can see her just thinking, forget you then. Also from Ray's point of view, Joe was a total asshole. Using Jenny for sex and never calling her again. I'm sure they both knew plenty of guys like that in college. Ray was there for her when her mother was dying too. Since he fell in love with Jenny, I could see how he couldn't understand how any guy could treat Jenny as badly as Joe did. He was young and in love and didn't think Joe was a decent person, probably scared of losing Jenny too. I liked that he told Joe the truth in the hospital and took accountability for it and had Joe go with them to see Lucas. I know everyone deals with death differently, but my mom died when I was a little younger than Jenny and it really can mess you up for awhile, you don't always think clearly and make the best decisions. For RockerJenny, I don't see how the baby could be adopted without the father's approval.
  20. Now for a very special Ordinary Joe finale, all three Joe's meet. NurseJoe saves RockerJoe and then CopJoe arrests him for extreme DUI and/or killing his passenger. But it's all a dream and Joe wakes up and realizes any way he goes, his life sucks. Luckily, he just graduated high school and decides to go to college out of state. Away from family and friends (Eric, Jenny, Amy) and starts a whole new life with interesting people in it. If only we had a do over for this show.
  21. I was thinking the same thing. What happened to Bobby? He was a big part of the show and now he's completely dropped. It's just the first season and it feels like a different show than it was in the beginning.
  22. Yes, very similar to Ben. But I didn't find Ben as bad as most people here do. I think editing and Duff played that up, yet he didn't seem too awful. Overconfident sure. I didn't see the trailer for the show either, so I think maybe seeing that over and over again could make it seem worse. Maybe she gets more of a pass because she's older and a girl? Not sure, but they seem very much to have the same attitude.
  23. The first 3 eliminations were spot on, so that makes me hopeful about this season. Caroline is just as obnoxious as Ben. Same attitude and the way she talks to the judges is similar. Hope she leaves soon. I like the rest. Ellora, Joseph, Summer and Sarah are the front runners.
  24. It seems to me like someone found the kid and wanted to do a show around him. He wouldn't be able to carry the whole show, so they came up with this. Doesn't work for me. I do like the kid at times and would like to see him in something else, as a side character.
  25. Kevin and Sophie have been pretty much a part of each other's family forever. Since elementary school they have been together through college and after. I think it's normal in that type of relationship to call to congratulate him. They showed that they still have a loving, close relationship when he was there for her mom's funeral. The viewers saw that she wasn't wearing the ring, but she never told Kevin that she was available.
