The more I watch Joy and Austin the more I think she has some sort of cognitive delay. He comes across more like her caretaker than her partner in life. I think my favorite part in recent shows was the friend visit. There is clearly a bond between the couples. The part when J swooped up the toddler from the path of the swing and Luis was standing there joking about it was so real and reminded me of a normal “couple friend” interaction. Their kids are undisciplined and squirrelly, but they’re a cute family. I wouldn’t be surprised if the foursome wouldn’t have preferred to hire a legit babysitter so they could all go out for a leisurely dinner together. It just didn’t fit into the script of the show. I think at the end of the day, I find J&J likable because it’s clear that Jeremy had a rich and fulfilling life pre-Jinger. There’s no way he’s living his life as a Jesus-bot, and he has a healthy dose of skepticism about her family and upbringing. I really think there’s hope for her.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt since you’re from Florida, and you clearly don’t know the unofficial Texas motto, “The bigger the bow, the closer to God.” She is beautiful, and what immediately jumps out at me is the perfect roundness of her head. That is a baby who is held a whole lot.

I wanted to reach through the screen and slap that idiot. How in the world can any compassionate human with an ounce of empathy stand in front of a sweet, earnest, anxious child and not crouch down and reassure him, much less fold him up into a big hug??? His emotional intelligence is so incredibly stunted I can hardly believe it.

I thought Nick’s canoe/paddle at the beginning was quite possibly the most beautiful thing I’ve seen on TV this year, and that includes Gabriel Macht in an Italian suit. Do we think Amy is really that uncreative and craft-challenged? I didn’t get why they played her so dumb.

The weirdest thing to me about the Greenville episode was how detached the Grandma seemed to be from the granddaughter. She kept saying “the baby” and “a kid” like she wasn’t related to her at all. She seemed like an ice queen. I think the door bit started from the woman saying she just felt like the “blue door on the Craftsman was meant to be,” not that she doesn’t understand that a door can be painted. Seemed like the dumb thing that he HH producers latch onto and then have the couple reference over and over again so the viewers can think they’re stupid or needlessly rigid.

Well, in her defense, she’s had so much plastic surgery of the face, it’s likely that the pursed lip smacking is the only way her food hole can function anymore. Dang, her resting bitch face always looks like it smells a poopoo diaper.

I loved that, and also “I’m Ally McBeal and he’s Johnny Cochran.” :)

I was thinking that same thing. Abagail Spencer is one of the most stunning women on TV today IMO. Matt Lanter’s eyes, too...wowza.

Since this in one of the few interesting shows designed for adults that I can actually watch with my 13-year-old son, I’m so glad they didn’t go in the hot and heavy direction. When they both got those half-lidded bedroom eyes with the fire raging behind them I was thinking it was about to get super uncomfortable in my TV room. ? Luckily it broke for commercial and came back to them doing their morning snuggle and Rufus giving his expected bit of comic relief.

Two little parts I loved were the staff’s reaction when they realized that Adam worked at the “nice” Petsmart, and Bo and Cheyenne’s Little Bitch onesie. Amy: “But what if it’s a boy...”

I love how Abby and Eric are a mini-Joel and Shelia in how they interact. It was great how Eric was totally going to step up and blow up the trailer but desperately wanted her to say no. That was such a Joel move. I was was really entertained last night going through the Quotes thread. I forgot how many great lines there are. Hilarious.

As the parent to teens, I was gutted by this final episode. It was heartbreaking to see Alyssa completely broken and raw and James realizing he had no exit ramp. I just wanted to wrap them both up in hugs and love them. I assumed the gunshot was James killing himself. I hope there’s no second season.

My husband and I were talking about this last night. Being parents of teenagers, you NEVER know for certain if they stay where they say they are staying. There have been a few times where my son was planning to stay at a friends house and then in the morning I find him snoring in his bed. He's quieter when he sneaks in than when he sneaks, out. ;) That's the part I just can't suspend disbelief on--I just have to think that parents like Jack and Rebecca would have to visually confirm that Kevin wasn't in his bed. Agreed. Although I am embarrassed to say that until the kids walked out I didn't connect that they were at the hotel where they were staying. Something about her looking at the tickets in her car and then honking like she was so annoyed briefly made my weird mind think that we had fast forwarded in time a bit and she was meeting someone via the 90s equivalent of Craigslist to sell the Springsteen tickets. That is so sad. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. We lost a beloved coworker tragically in a motorcycle accident about a year ago and his presence seems to be all over our building.
