  1. It's funny, season 42 I was noticing how the cast was not the usual overload of young pretty people. Now, in season 43, here they are again...
  2. Sanditon has been a bit of a mish mosh. They started out season 1 pretending to be a continuation of Jane Austen's work, but strayed pretty far from what she would have written. Season 2 was just a normal period drama, without any pretense of Austen's imprint. Taking such a long break between seasons 1 and 2, and losing some of their main actors, made it more of a mess with a scramble to fill in the story with new actors. But it was something entertaining to watch on Sunday night, if only to nitpick everything about it.
  3. That is their specialty; the series is built around that. Regular murders are too easy to figure out. They have to have a DI clever enough to solve them (sadly, the way they are written lately they don't have to have all the clues, just a DI who can pull the solution out of thin air). If they are running out of ideas, I do not think it would be a horrible idea to change the format a bit and try something new. They have been on for 11 seasons; we all deserve a break from the regular routine.
  4. I really liked Esther and would have been glad to see more of her, but on the other hand I am glad they sent her home to live happily ever after with Babington rather than writing any more silly plots around her. With Edward's baby living with her, the writers no doubt could have come up with more unpleasantness.
  5. My local station always airs Father Brown and Death in Paradise on Saturday night. But I am always checking the tv guide on all programs just in case anything changes.
  6. Well, I will keep an eye on that. But last Saturday, the first week after season 10 re-runs, the episode description was the beginning of Poole's stay on the island. So who knows. I appreciate everyone's help trying to figure this out. I will just have to watch every week to see what is really on, and hope season 11 shows up one of these days.
  7. Thanks, but I still don't understand their scheduling. I have looked up every night for the next few weeks on my local channel and all they are showing is season 1.
  8. Thanks. I was hoping for it here in Arizona. Season 10 reruns just ended, and I thought it was logical that they would start season 11 right after, but instead they switched back to season 1. 😢
  9. Does anyone know when the latest season (season 11) of Death in Paradise will air on PBS (the regular TV channel , not some other service)? I'm hoping it is soon!
  10. I just finished rewatching the series, and the Crypt of Tears movie. Still love them!! Weren't they hoping to do another movie? Is there any word about that? I want more!!
  11. To me the problem with Colbourne was that he refused to stay out of his shell. One of my problems is the way his character showed in how he treated Charlotte. At the beginning he coldly rejected her as a governess; later he did of course hire her, but remember the way he ordered her to stay away from Lennox, and shouted "I am your BOSS!" He seemed to soften at times, but ultimately rejected her as a relationship, only owning the boss/governess connection. Charlotte is not a meek, submissive person; she stood up to him and told him off about his treatment of the girls, and rejected his authority to tell her what to do about Lennox. Colbourne will always be aware of his higher social status, and that he has been her boss. He will always react with anger any time she disagrees with him or confronts him or refuses to follow his orders, and he will fall back on his old patterns. A person's character does not change overnight.
  12. Jonathan is a surfer, he is used to balancing against the movement of water, and staying upright in challenging conditions. When the competition started, I expected him to do well.
  13. I just don't find Colbourne attractive. Not his personality, not the way he treated Charlotte and the girls, and not physically attractive. I thought as the season went on I might become more attracted to his looks - it has happened with other characters in other series, but...nope. Now, Ralph, on the other hand...
  14. I looked up the actor who played Ralph, Cai Brigden...now I *really* would like to see more of him!!
  15. ...transformed by the love of good woman. Bleah. I would prefer someone who does not need to be transformed.
  16. In addition to the above posts, Charlotte really doesn't fit into the Sanditon/Colbourne social circle. She was first invited to Sanditon as a guest because of her helpfulness at Tom's accident, she was invited back as a companion to Georgiana, and then she was employed by Colbourne as a governess. She never really fit in there.
  17. The only other possible option I could see that would work if, being engaged to Ralph, she came to appreciate him as a good, loyal, solid, caring husband-to-be, who doesn't think he is better than she is, and far more suited to her than Colbourne would have been. If we look back at Colbourne's interactions with her, they were mostly negative, and he really seemed to be red-flag relationship material. Perhaps when she sees him at the ball it puts the final nail in her desire for him, and she turns thankfully to Ralph as her happily ever after. I would like to see this, anyway...
  18. Someone suggested in one of the threads that Mandy should move in with MeeMaw. Since many of us have been wishing for more MeeMaw in the storylines, this might be a good way to go. And we could see a softer side to MeeMaw.
  19. Hopefully, when they are ready to air season 3, they will repeat season 2 just before it, as they showed season 1 just before they ran season 2. Then we can all catch up again to what has happened before.
  20. When next season approaches, everyone can refresh their memories of season two with recaps from that season: (These are regular recaps, not the snarky ones) https://sanditonseaside.com/category/recaps/
  21. Just guessing here... I suppose it is like a real estate developer buying land, building houses on it, and selling the houses and the land they are on, only in this case they are building the shops and probably charging rent. We know Lady D is an investor in Sanditon, as was Sidney; it was Tom's original concept so he probably bought the land. We know he is building the shops, and probably the houses as well, which he may be renting out or selling.
  22. Yes, he did. It has been mentioned that her money saved Sandition when he married her, and it has also been mentioned that she is now, through inheritance, a part owner of Sanditon. Perhaps that will show up as a storyline next season.
  23. Thanks. I had thought he would be the end game; it would fit the pattern, and a six episode season isn't enough time to create another whole relationship with someone new.
