  1. I am currently watching the Pearl Islands season. After the reward challenge a member of the winning tribe gets to go to the losing tribe's camp and take one item. I think they should bring this back.
  2. I think the terms originated something like: White collar = they can wear clothes at their job that will not get dirty. Blue collar = clothes they wear to work will probably get dirty. No collar = the above distinctions are irrelevant. But this one is just made up.
  3. I'm no history expert, but doesn't Francis die fairly young (brain tumor or something?), Mary goes back to Scotland, and Catherine takes over? Who reigns after her? I'm too lazy to look it up. Of course, Reign's version of history might completely change the above in favor of some strange new storyline. Which could be interesting - I love alternate history stories.
  4. I'm glad they finished all the storylines, though it seemed a bit rushed. They must have known they were not going to have a chance to develop them more in a third season. I hope Denise brings Myrtle in as a partner - her new enterprise was made possible by Myrtle's recipe, and Myrtle has been wanting to get out of the kitchen. And now Clara can take over the ladies department at last.
  5. It's been canceled? Bummer. I hope they give us closure, and not leave it with everything unresolved. My perfect ending would be that that rich guy buys the Paradise and turns it over to Denise to run. Remember early in the first season Denise says about Moray, "I don't want to marry him, I want to be him"? Yeah. Now that would be cool.
  6. There is one thing I am confused about. Weston told Katherine that Fenton, the guy Moray was plotting with to buy the Paradise, had confessed to him what Moray had been trying to do to cause trouble between Weston and Katherine. I don't understand why Fenton would tell him that. (Unless I misheard - that bit came and went by so fast.) Obviously Weston was using that as another way to hurt Katherine. But why would Fenton tell Weston about their scheme? Maybe Weston and Moray can do each other in, in some poetic justice sort of way. Or how about Denise takes them both out? Weston (well, the actor) does have a beautiful voice. And now I will have to look up The State Within...
  7. At least Weston's evil machinations did some good! Weston to Denise: Moray is trying to hold you back, he is afraid you will outshine him. Weston to Moray: I wouldn't be surprised if some day Denise is running the Paradise instead of you. That slap was rather satisfying. Slapped the smug right out of Moray. When will men learn that "possession" is not a good word to use about a woman? I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out. I like that Clara chose the photographer over Weston. They seem to have re-written her character this season - last season she was desperate and rather pathetic, this season she is Mother Wisdom to everyone. I like her better this way. Last season's Clara probably would have gone with Weston. Edited to add: I know that back then women really were considered possessions, but good for Denise to stand up against that. Moray really didn't know her if he thought she would be content with that designation.
  8. I wish we had some backstory about Katherine and Weston - how they met, why Katherine married him. It seemed rather sudden, in terms of the story's timeline. I suppose Flora might have been one of the reasons, but it would be nice to have more of the story.
  9. Am I the only one who thought putting in a sex scene with Elizabeth and Darcy was not a good fit for a Jane Austen story? I can't imagine her approving of such a thing!
  10. I am enjoying this series. I think the interplay between Moray and Denise, Moray and Katherine, Weston and Katherine, Weston and everyone else, leaves us wondering how these relationships will play out. Moray is jealous of Denise, Denise doesn't like being held back, temptation looms in the form of Ballantine and what he might do. Is Weston's attempt at reconciliation with Katherine sincere, or another game? Will Katherine's love for Flora be her undoing? What are Weston's true intentions toward Denise - is he really her supporter now or is he just using her? And seriously, WILL they NEVER address the question of Denise having to quit her job if she gets married?? (/broken record/)
  11. I'm glad to read all these comments - I had to stop watching just as the trial started, but I taped the rest and was wondering if it was worth watching it. Now that I know what happened, I think I will watch and just fast forward to Lady Catherine's part in it - I love Penelope Keith! As for what I did see of this mystery...disappointing, for all the reasons mentioned in this thread. I missed the real Lizzie, the "reputed beauty" with the "fine eyes", and the wit and sparkling nature! Sorry, Jane Austen, nothing to see here...
  12. They still haven't addressed the issue that if Denise and Moray get married, Denise will have to give up her job. If Moray manages to regain ownership of the Paradise, can he suspend that rule, or is there some higher rule that they have to follow? Katherine certainly looked sour at the dinner when her husband was praising Denise so highly and announcing her trip to Paris. Is any of his favoring Denise actually aimed at Katherine? Clara hypnotizing Susie with the wooden spoon was a nice comic touch to the episode!
  13. What is up with Moray torpedoing Denise? Didn't want her to apply for head of ladies wear, didn't want her to give the tea party, doesn't want her to go to Paris...he seems unhappy with her successes. He talks about "when we are running the Paradise" but I suspect it will be only about HIM running the Paradise, and getting credit for her ideas. I hope she goes to Paris anyway. And what is Weston's game with Denise? Why is he favoring her at every turn, and putting her forward to showcase her talents? Is this part of some plot, or has he taken a fancy to her? Is he trying to stir up trouble between Denise and Moray? He has an awfully warm look in his eyes when he smiles at her - about the only time we ever see him smile. Creepy.
  14. When Denise marries, she will have to give up all her ambitions and her Ideas. When Moray walked away from marrying Katherine, he chose Denise over the store. Will she do the same for him, or, when it comes down to it, will she choose her career over him?
  15. I was wondering about Denise and Moray never talking about the fact that when they married, Denise would have to give up her job at the Paradise. Moray said he wanted to get married right away, and Denise wanted to wait (or was it the other way around?). That would have ended Denise's job. Was she expecting to help run the Paradise as his wife? I don't think Weston and Katherine would have allowed that - especially since Moray isn't even running it any more. This issue seems to be a glaring omission in the narrative.
  16. And Jonas is back, seeming to switch loyalty to Weston, although probably only to work on Moray's behalf. When Moray asked Denise not to apply for Miss Audrey's position he said that it wouldn't be long before he had the store back, maybe only a few months. Did I miss something? Have we seen anything to indicate how he is going about this? Because that would be interesting to see in progress. I loved seeing Jonas dancing a reel with Denise! Expected more from Clara after she said she wouldn't let Denise be chosen over her again. We missed the chance for some good shenanigans. And why did Weston switch his backing from Clara to Denise? I had been finding the Denise/Moray relationship a bit boring, but the dynamic certainly changed this episode. She wants him to see her as his equal, not his "little champion" and that is not likely to happen. What will happen now?!
  17. I hadn't realized there were so many cross over actors from Lark Rise. Dudley/Dooley, Pauline, Tom Weston, Miss Audrey (her voice, anyway)...anyone else?
  18. Aww, Miss Audrey was my favorite character. I suspect we will see some hijinks from Clara as she tries to get Tom Weston to give her Miss Audrey's position instead of Denise. Katherine and Weston seem to have a rather complicated relationship - interesting. The French woman planted a few seeds for thought for the women - too bad they didn't result in Miss Audrey being able to get married and still keep her job. I love that Jonas saved Dudley (Dooley?) from Weston after Dudley/Dooley was so nasty to him. Another complicated character; glad to see him back. I find myself less interested in the relationship between Moray and Denise than in any of other storylines.
  19. How about a dedicated forum for Breathless, so people can find it easily? It starts tonight. Also, I don't know where else to put this, but how about a forum for Death in Paradise? It airs Thursday nights on PBS and is a really good mystery series.
