  1. All of that may be true, but I still think the experts and producers put behind the scenes pressure on Tristan to stay in the marriage. Like give him "advice" about how bad it would look, and that he would go against his beliefs if he left, because it suits their agenda. The guy is so mixed up and trying so hard to do the "right thing" that they could convince him of this easily. As soon as I saw Mia's sister acting strange and pissed off with her for doing the show I knew the family knows she's crazy and does not approve of anything she does. In fact I am sure I heard her father or sister call her nuts on one of the pre-wedding episodes.
  2. Oh yes, I forgot, I'm even more over her too, thanks.
  3. What gets me about these contestants is that they've done this before and should have some idea of what they would have to overcome to win. I wonder if some of them came back not to win, but because the show might be paying them something just to be there. I'm getting the feeling that some of them are tapping out in a calculated way, like only taking so much and then throwing in the towel before things got really rough just so they can be on the show again. In other words, they were not serious about lasting to the bitter end. I would think that only the people that were the most serious about sticking it out in order to win would want to do a second season. I'm still not over Carleigh's bad luck as she was one of the most determined contestants I can remember.
  4. I think it depends on what it was as far as how much Dave should let it affect him. He has not revealed what it is and is keeping her confidence, so I presume it wasn't earth shattering. She's not hiding any Mia stalking in her past, is what I'm saying. It could still be something that would understandably make a guy have second thoughts about getting involved with her, though, without earning him the title of sexist pig.
  5. Some of that is stereotype and not based in fact. According to a statistical study done in 2010, there are more SAHMs in the west (including California and Washington state) and southwest than in the eastern south. New York and New Jersey fall into the same percentage rate of SAHMs as the southeast.
  6. Sam reminds me of the Aesop fable, "The Tortoise and the Hare". The moral of the story is "The race is not always won by the swift" or "Slow and steady wins the race". In this situation that wisdom seems very apt. Dave has already lost 27 lbs. by the same day he only lost 13 in his original season. He even knows he's expending a lot of energy and that he's taking a big risk spending that energy looking for bigger game. I'm beginning to see that mental toughness is at least as important as survival skill in winning this game. It takes a certain kind and degree of mental tenacity to fight off the demons that extreme isolation and hunger bring. The mood swings and hyper-focusing on little things mess with their minds. It's a fascinating psychological study. Hah, I thought the same thing! It's another example of how the starvation and isolation makes them not use better judgment.
  7. They do that a lot with white women too. It's hard to judge motivation in this situation.
  8. Is it just me? I'm getting really tired of "Carl the Cuban" by now. It seems like either he's competing or he's judging every other episode these days. At first I liked him, but in large doses he annoys me. Same goes for Aarti.
  9. I'm wondering just how much trouble Pauline is going to cause for Liza and Charles. She may continue to blackmail them with crazy demands in exchange for keeping her mouth shut. I wonder if she won't try digging around to find out more "dirt" she can use against them, and in the process find out Liza's true age. Charles may counter by doing something drastic like make an "announcement" where he comes clean with the company about his and Liza's relationship. Although rushing things along with their relationship is not what I'd want to see. We need more time in the bubble before things get to that point, otherwise the excitement will be over too soon.
  10. It's pathetic and even scary even under the best of circumstances that he would claim to love her already, but given what she has done, the admitted lies plus the suspicion and lack of trust all that should bring with it, it's even more pathetic and scary. I can't believe he really means it other than to convince the world (and himself) that he's not giving up on this, and that he honors his commitments, etc. because it's so important for him to believe that about himself even when it might not be true. But dude, you have good reason not to honor this one, so stop worrying about what God is going to think. Yikes.
  11. OK, I think this was worth the wait as a Charles shipper, and it also helps knowing that the episode was probably supposed to air around the holidays last year, so it wasn't intentional to keep us waiting this long. Pauline - how predictable that she would come back just to throw a wrench into our sweet little bubble.....Show, come on already, give us a break, we've suffered long enough for this! How did she know? I suppose she could have suddenly become observant, but also Charles could have let something slip in her presence as he hasn't been acting very discreet. Some of the office encounters between him and Liza have been pretty darned risky, so how careful is he really? Not so much. I think that's why Liza wanted to talk to him - to tell him he has to dial it back at work big time. She is clearly uncomfortable with the riskiness as much as she's loving it. He's acting like a 14 year old, which should be cute and romantic but in this case it just feels immature and unwise. Not that I mean to burst the bubble, mind you. I've waited long enough for it, dammit, so I'm willing to forgive that....for now. I'm wondering how those that thought Charles and Liza had zero chemistry feel now. Hahaha, I knew they could prove that wrong in one hot episode! We just had another layer of Charles's onion pulled back for us to contemplate. Still waters run deep. I want to dive in. Yours from the bubble, Yeah No
  12. Pastor Cal made me sick in "Unfiltered". While Tristan was still visibly upset after walking off the set in tears, he went on to say that a couple could come back stronger from such a situation and that it could bring new closeness. Yeah, but she's still a wacko that will show her true colors eventually, so all that will do is make Tristan fall even harder for her and then be even more devastated at having to divorce her. Nice work, asshole! All to save face for you and this despicable show!
  13. They're all pussyfooting around her because they are afraid that if they don't they'll do something that makes them look bad. Unfortunately, they failed because what they're doing looks even worse than what they think they're avoiding. Mia is a lying sack of shit and eventually the crazy will start to show.....At Tristan's expense, unfortunately. The show is responsible for whatever future hurt he endures as far as I'm concerned, no matter how "appropriately" they try to look like they're handling the situation. A real friend would tell you not to ignore the big waving red flag and to get away from her as soon as possible before you get any more involved with a psycho case. Instead the experts try to spin it to look like Tristan is doing the right thing by staying with her. They are beneath contempt in my book!
  14. I agree. I think Tristan is being careful knowing what a potential backlash there could be if he backed out now. I don't care if he says he "loves" her, he doesn't trust her and that's obvious from the micro-expressions on his face. Pastor Cal has probably laid it on the line with him. Stay in it, see how it goes, you don't want to be labeled a quitter. Plus as we have suspected in the past, the show may now sweeten the pot if they choose to stay together through a situation like this instead of call it quits. Him saying, "Who wouldn't love Mia" sounds like he is justifying saying that when he really doesn't mean it. He just doesn't want to look like a "religious hypocrite", to borrow a phrase from Amber.
  15. I am a dog person and it's still not a place I would want to eat. Most of those dog owners they filmed were not controlling their dogs well and it became a sanitary issue as well as a nuisance. It's like having a child and not wanting them to play with noisy, unruly children in a restaurant.
  16. It's just unbelievable to me that the show is allowing Tristan to continue with this crazy bitch, and taking her oh-so seriously, as if they are afraid that if they don't handle her with kid gloves Mia will slap a lawsuit on them. If the show won't talk some sense into him, where are his family and friends while all this is going on? Someone with some common sense that can tell him he's being manipulated? That's what I want to know.
  17. What shocked me is how ignorant the owners of "Fetch" were that they didn't know that dogs couldn't eat certain foods. Usually ardent dog lovers are very well aware of that stuff. Even I've known that since I was a kid. That told me volumes about them. There have always been "dog friendly" restaurants in a lot of states, not just in Kansas by a long shot. It's just that they are not restaurants devoted primarily to owners bringing in their dogs as a concept. And the dogs being allowed in have to pass as well behaved and unobtrusive. One well behaved smallish dog here or there is not a problem, it's when you have a restaurant full of medium to big dogs that have behavior issues interacting with other dogs that you have a real problem. I think that if a state allows for "pet friendly" restaurants it should see the difference between one that allows an occasional dog from something like "Fetch" where the entire concept is about dogs. This episode sucked, too, because there was no mention of the sanitary issues brought on by having so many poorly supervised dogs around in a restaurant, nor was there enough attention paid to the owners changing to be more strict about what behavior is or is not acceptable in their restaurant.
  18. I remember she made a bread pudding that Bobby & Giada thought was the most amazing thing anyone has ever cooked. Oh yeah, I remember that! Didn't she put everything in it but the kitchen sink? I remember thinking it looked like a hot mess and I was sure it couldn't be anywhere near as great as the judges said it was. I thought the cameras focused on a bowl with eggs in it hidden away like they forgot about it, unless it was something else.
  19. In last week's episode there were several clips of Amy banging and slamming things and letting her anger and frustration out a little too freely, plus it was obvious that she was getting a little too into her own head probably as a result of the pressure of the competition. My guess is that didn't look good to the judges and is one of the reasons for Giada's comment that she needed to do "inner work" or whatever it was she said.
  20. I agree. I have already said I don't think he should be underestimated based on appearances. He has already shown that he's willing to keep going beyond the point that most people would throw in the towel no matter how much he has to endure.
  21. A yolk as runny as Alex's should definitely not be in a sandwich. That's why great grill masters "poke the yolk" of a sandwich egg - so it can achieve that ooey-gooey texture but not run down your chin. I mean, even McDonald's knows better than to put runny yolk in Egg McMuffins, lol.
  22. I knew that Christian throwing his meatballs into the fryer would dry them out. So what was the purpose of scrapping the first batch to put egg in them if he was just going to dry them out anyway? As much as I like him he does have his issues. And I called him an unmade bed last week. Still is. WTF was he thinking taking that ginormous bite? Seriously! I wouldn't be unhappy if he won but if not I wouldn't cry over it. And somehow I doubt he will anyway. Manny has actually won my "most improved" award this season. I would be equally happy if he won and I think he has a chance. Of course I still worry that Jess might win and I don't like her. I don't think she overcame her "rehearsed" quality enough despite Irvine's coaching. I think "rehearsed" is a euphemism for "fake and impersonal", or at least a way to say something negative without really saying it. Somewhere along the line Amy turned sour and engaged in the self-fulfilling prophecy of her own demise. Early on in her first season I thought she was funny, but that sour edge took over toward the end of this season and it was not at all attractive. I thought Duff and Manny could be "brothers from another mother". Something about their body types and energy. And it was fun. Robert and Sunny were completely tolerable for a change and so was Tregaye. But my theory is that all of them are tolerable unless they're being encouraged to dial up the energy too much. But still, there's a difference between being tolerable and likable.
  23. And from the description it sounds like it's going to be great! YAY!
  24. My favorite line of the episode came from Britt, when he poked his mug into the camera at night and said he looked like an "Old, blind, albino coal miner". I split my sides! He is an interesting guy and I'm finding I like him more this time around than in his original season. I wish I could say that for the rest of them that are left. Although I have new respect for Larry, despite his camera induced drama-king tendencies, for making that fishing net and catching a whopper. Go, Larry! Losing points with me this week was Sam. He's one guy that succeeds in spite of himself. We've seen him starve before. I don't think he's ready to give up. I believe him that he doesn't want his kids to think he gives up after one or two setbacks. But his combination of laziness/lack of vision can only go on for so much longer before he must "pull a rabbit out of a hat" so to speak. I know next to nothing about fishing, but even I could tell that gill net would not work in fast moving water. I can't believe he didn't know that. I believe that Dave does have a real conscience about killing with minimal suffering, but I'm with @mlp that he's amping it up for the cameras. I said that last week and the week before too.
  25. I keep thinking about this from the POV of being a woman in that situation, and if one of my good female friends warned me about a guy I'd take her word for it over his any day, especially if I just met him and don't know him from Adam. I don't care if Amber is is wife, she's still a relative stranger. When I was young I was in the situation of warning one of my good friends about a guy. She didn't listen to me and paid the price.
