Commercials That Annoy, Irritate or Outright Enrage
RealityGal replied to Maverick's topic in Commercials
They better watch out, people have gotten shanked for less....I've seen enough seasons of Oz and MSNBC Lock Up to know that you don't play games with people when it comes to food. -
Oh thats too much! I was thinking the exact same thing. There are some shows where if you don't see the person actually go INTO the ground or if they don't die in a pool of very obvious blood or there is still a chance they are alive. Since this show brought Nolan back from the dead, and had us thinking Irisa had killed Birdie I feel like there might be a chance that Kenya is still alive. You know, there is just something about Julie Benz that can quickly rub me wrong. I don't blame her for it, because frankly, I feel the same way about carrots. But ever since her Dexter days there was just something about her that I'm not 100% into. Even though I remember liking her character on Dexter, I didn't particularly like her playing the role. So, long story short, I'm with you on not liking her and Nolan together. I prefer Stahma to them both. In my advanced age I've started to see these villians as real women who aren't as one dimensional as good and evil. When i was watching Once Upon a Time, my favorite character by far was the evil Queen.

The same people who make the soap? I skimmed the article, and left confused, I wonder why customers don't demand frozen dairy desserts from other ice cream companies? who finds ice cream too rough to eat? Ben and Jerry's is sort of sad, I never thought those guys would ever sell. Oh well, hippies need money too :) -
I think I read the book at the right time. It was an exciting, guilty pleasure for a teenager, but I think it might be a little much for the average adult. I think everyone should be conscious of arsenic. If my future boyfriend or husband tries to kill me he better not do it with arsenic or antifreeze, because the second something tastes funny or if I get sick after eating something I'm calling the police. I've watched enough ID shows to know whats what!

I've noticed that, why is that? I thought frozen dairy dessert was either ice cream or frozen yogurt. -
I don't know. Stahma seems a little more important to the show than Kenya. She is such an interesting villain IMO. Don't get me wrong, I think Kenya was important, but I think killing off Stahma would create almost an imbalance in the show. Datak is evil, but not as smart as Stahma. And I think her trying to take control of Alak and Christine's baby makes sense. But thats just my opinion, they could kill off Stahma and have Christine take over her place as the evil puppetmaster in that family. That would be interesting too. So you could be right, or Stahma finds a way to blame Kenyas death on Datak somehow....

First...for reference http://youtu.be/82qdJYJ_ROc Second - I've had Breyers Raspberry Cheesecake Gelato (don't judge me, I was shopping while I was hungry, so it seemed like a good idea at the time) and it tasted exactly like ice cream to me. Its certainly nothing I would hide from anyone. Third - you CLEARLY have a lot of this crappy gelato because you both have a full bowl of the stuff and the container you have on the table is full, so stop being jerks and share. And even if he eats it all isn't the grocery store open tomorrow so you can get some more? I remember the Bryers Gelato being relatively cheap, as far as gelato is concerned. Fourth - Stop being selfish jerks. He said he likes carmel and nuts, let him have some of the damn gelato. Its pretty much just fancy looking ice cream in a see through container. Fifth - How much of an asshole are these parents? Mom: "you wouldn't like it, it has caramel and crunchy stuff?" WTF? what kid doesn't like caramel and crunchy stuff. Thats just an asshole move. If she wasn't being a jerk she would have said "its made of brussel sprouts and donkey turds" Then there is Dad: "I'm an adult" while slurping the ice cream with caramel that a kid would love down his mouth. -
So you're telling me that no one has a grandma who brought this recipe over from Sicily on a boat?

I remember it playing ad nausem during Top Chef, or maybe Project Runway. I think it actually was Project Runway because they had some ridiculous Yoplait challenge that made absolutely no sense. I feel like the autotune was dreamed up by some 50 year old Yoplait executive who thought it was a surefire way to appeal to the "hip, young" people. I'm sure he is still hoping that the video will "go viral" and "create a lot of buzz" and that people will "tweet about it" to all their "mySpace friends." I guess they figured they already had the market cornered on married naggy shrews who wanted to lose weight so they figured they better find another audience to peddle their muck to. -

LOL at "Duke has turned into a real asshole" LOL @ not calling Yoplait yogurt. I feel your pain, but I'm not sure what else to call it? :) But while we're on Yoplait, how about this special gem.... 1. Yoplait rap? 2. You're not going to convince me that Yoplait is delicious, just because you say it 50 times in 30 seconds 3. Do you really want to meet the cow that made this...sounds kinky! 4. But I don't love anything about Yoplait, so why would it be any better frozen? -
See, thats my question. I guess there is food porn, and I know I'm guilty of that with Top Chef. I just like looking at the beautiful food, which is why I think they do those slow, sexy shots of the finished dish with the explanation instead of just giving me a quick picture before Tom shoves the food down his piehole. So I certainly think there is a segment that isn't going to cook a damn thing but just likes seeing food. Generally, if I want to cook something, I get the recipe off the internet, and I go to YouTube to see a technique. I prefer YouTube because I can easily stop and go back, and I can put my laptop or my IPAD in the kitchen with me and review it over and over and over. However, I don't think that I would be the prime audience for a Food Network show. And even if I'm not, I think it just brings down the credibility of the Food Network to basically admit that they are okay with a star on the Food Network that perhaps can't cook, or doesn't really know much about food. If you're telling me that your Food Network stars may not be able to cook, than I'm not going to the Food Network site for recipes, because they may come from a guy that wanted to put a pancake in a cup. I can't trust that guy! I'm not taking his advice when it comes to food! Could be all of the above. Trying to be dry, sarcastic humor after eating too much of.....well whatever makes a person constipated....

Muahahaha...you're welcome. What a blast from the past though, I read that book literally like 25 years ago, before anyone even thought about a Kindle or an IPAD. I remember having to hide the paperback from my parents. :) VC Andrews has issues.... Yes walnutqueen, how soon I forget the sweet, silent killer. Tastes like koolaid, but kills like rat poison. Can be easily obtained and slipped into a cocktail or a milkshake. If Scot has any friends they will invite Candace DeLong to his bachelor party :)

He probably shouldn't marry her. According to my extensive research watching ID shows, arsenic is tasteless, hard to trace, and a horrible way to die
-
I've seen Deadly Women - she is probably planning on killing him with arsenic.....just as soon as she finds those billions....

It looked like she had a book, but I think the problem was throwing in the oranges with the skin on. A) I don't know that they thought to WASH the skin and B) the skin of citrus fruits from my experience is pretty bitter so it probably made the juice gross. Of course it may have also been the kale. I am always tricked into buying kale in some form (kale chips, kale kale, kale salad, etc etc) and I'm always left with the same conclusion. Kale is grody....grody to the max. -
LMAO! :)

I think CBS is still the channel with 60 Minutes and other shows that appeal to an older demographic that might not, at this point in time appreciate a gay showmance There is still time. I see him on a "Southern Fried Homicide" or maybe "Swamp Murders" at some point -

The right move would be for Caleb to ask someone else and then keep looking over at Amber and imagining how jealous she is getting.... -
I think if Devin actually hit his button, than their reasoning makes sense. :( I hope one of "Team America's" challenges is kicking Devin in the nuts.

the problem is that no one seems to have rehearsed anything ever. I can't believe terra dropped 10k on that video and nothing was practiced or rehearsed and things were being put together 2 days before. But damn - that song is stuck in my head now. I hope it doesn't catch on, because I just can't. -
I think its incorrect to assume that people of wealth or status are automatically confident. I think that those forces that drive a person to become a success or to obtain status last a lifetime, and are imprinted on a person to such a degree that they aren't easily erased with money or status. Look at Oprah, even after she became a rousing success, for years and years, she lacked confidence about her appearance. But I also don't think that wisdom or self possession are mutually exclusive of expecting people to dress appropriately. If anything, I think quite often, people with status who welcome those who don't dress appropriately can be patronizing and condescending towards their guests. Those people will always accept someone who is dressed crazy, because it will always make them feel somewhat better about themselves. Its much easier for them to be friends with someone that they don't see as a threat and someone who can make them feel better about themselves. If they are at a formal dinner with someone who is wearing cutoff jean shorts and a "dont mess with Texas" tee shirt, how much better to they look by comparison? I respect people who are straight forward, because if they expect me to dress appropriately it means they expect the same of me as they expect of themselves, which means that they believe we are on the same level and aren't going to patronize me. And dressing appropriate may not mean that I need to buy the latest Christian Dior bag, or the newest Gucci dress, but it means that if I'm at a formal dinner, I need to wear something appropriate, even if its from WalMart, KMart, or a thrift store. I certainly can't agree with the proposition that someone who expects me to dress appropriately is someone who has achieved their status by being an asshole.

Choose your own adventure! I remember that and I thought I was the only one, I used to love those books! I don't care who that kid looks like, I bet Stahma gets her hands on him (for some reason, I'm assuming it will be a little boy) to turn him into her vision of what a perfect man should be. For Stahma's taste Alak is too weak, and Datak is too quick tempered.

It makes sense, I actually think all the guys may have been "cast" specifically for the speed dating. All the guys were in "marketing/sales" and they all seemed surprisingly cool with a little person. Not even a raised eyebrow. And Tonya's guy seemed a little super enthusiastic right off the bat. And there was no awkwardness he just started to make jokes right away. It just seemed staged. He seemed like a comedian trying to break into the business. -
That confused me too. I assumed once they called a winner, everyone just stopped what they were doing. If thats the case, how did they KNOW that Devin would win if Cody didn't? If Devin didn't actually finish the competition, he also could have stepped or stumbled at the very last minute. I would have thought, in that situation, the fairest thing to do would have been to give HoH to Heyden. Because basically you didn't play the game for EVERYONE to finish, the only people that did finish fell or stumbled off their beam. No one finished without falling, so you should take that out of the equation when determining a winner. So then it becomes a question of who finished fastest with or without a stumble, and that would be Heyden. Also, I despise Devin, and because Heyden isn't in the Bomb Squad it would be more interesting for him to be HoH.
