  1. If Laurel/Oliver is their OTP they done a terrible job setting up why they even liked each other in the first place besides for superficial reasons. I get why Sara liked him, he was hot, older guy that liked partying and getting in trouble just like she did. But what did academic I'm-so-grown-up Laurel see in a dumb partying frat boy? She wasn't in love with him when she decided to make sure her younger sister never had a chance with him. Sara knew exactly what kid of guy Oliver was, she knew he slept around and was not the brightest. She may have still had her crush on him and enjoyed taking him from Laurel. But in the flashbacks they pretty much showed us Sara just wanted to have fun and dumb drunk Oliver was probably fun. They really should've had Oliver and his girlfriend Dinah go on the boat and he thinks she died. Then Dinah shows up in the second season as the LOA trained Black Canary. Basically Sara's whole story with no sister swapping.
  2. It's funny when I'm reading recaps of this show and they mention the strangeness of Cassidy's acting choices. This is from one of them. During the Laurel bringing Oliver back from the darkness scene it looked like Laurel was staring at a dot on Oliver's forehead or something. I think the biggest issue is her scenes is they come across as unnatural and uncomfortable. That brings me out of the scene and shows me acting which you are not supposed to be seeing. I know Lotz is not the best actor either and has had some bad line readings, but a majority of the time Sara scenes don't bring me out of the show.
  3. I forgot about the Martian Manhunter. It probably would've been easier to look up Kate Spencer. lol. But like I said, Laurel's already set up perfectly to take on that role without them having to force into a role that's already being played by someone better suited for it. Laurel already killed Blood's cop spy by shooting him about 10 times. So she definitely has the anger needed to begin as Manhunter did. She's already blackmailing people and going around the law to get what she wants on the criminals she thinks deserve to be punished. She'd still need more martial arts training but not near as much as the Black Canary requires.
  4. For me I think Cassidy is completely miscast for the role of Black Canary, it's been made even more apparent with the casting of Caity Lotz an actress that much like Stephen Amell, looks physically capable of pulling off playing a super hero. And that's added to the fact that she has actual martial arts training. As for Laurel being Red Arrow that would be as unearned as her suddenly becoming Black Canary. So not something I want to see. It's all tell not show with her and nothing seems to be changing in the writing with that. They keep telling us how amazing and awesome Laurel is and have the characters tell us that as well. But that's not how character building works. I need to see the character work at it and show me they can do things before anyone sings their praises. They've managed to do that with Oliver, Felicity, Diggle, Sara and even Roy. If they want to make Laurel into someone, they should make her Manhunter, who was a federal prosecutor that was fed up of the guilty criminals getting away their crimes. She stole evidence and blackmailed people to get what she wanted or killed the criminals herself. They pretty much have set it up perfectly for her to take on that role with what we've seen on screen. All the illegal things she's done during her hunt for Blood is basically the beginnings of Manhunter. We do have Kate Spencer on Arrow, but like Dinah Lance we have no evidence that she is a vigilante. Manhunter also helped fight with the Birds of Prey at one point, so she could still work with Sara's Black Canary.
  5. They gave Laurel an arc outside of Oliver and it was boring and not many people care for it. Despite all the praise the producers give her they can't.seem to or don't care to write an actual storyline for Laurel so they should just cut their loss and get rid of her. I saw that scene differently. I didn't see Sara as disappointed, I saw it has her being uncomfortable because she's not at the stage right now. She cares about Oliver deeply like he does for her (they are bonded by something that no one else will ever understand) but she's not ready to settle down and unlike pre-island Oliver she made the better choice to end the relationship. Or maybe she realized she's still in love with Nyssa.
  6. I'm beginning to think Sara's low self esteem has nothing to do with what she's been through. But from growing up with Laurel. WTF Laurel, you don't just come into some else's place, dismiss their teammates and friends and start demanding the lead spot on the team. You gave one piece of information, come back when you have a few more then we'll see if you are part of the team. Plus you have no useful skills for what they were about too do that's why you couldn't go. Sara who lived with assassins for past few years was nice and respectful to Oliver's team and became friends with them on her own. Even if she acted like Laurel did she has skills that can help them. But that's not how she chose to act. When Felicity felt left out she noticed, she didn't get mad or pissy or demand that Felicity look up to her. She tried to help her and gave her some tips on defending herself. Then we also had Sara search and find the daughter of guy she knew for about 5 minutes and took care of her. That's the Black Canary. Not some self centered person that thinks the world should revolve around them. From the way Laurel treats Felicity and Diggle it makes it seem like she thinks they are beneath her because they are a secretary and a driver.
  7. The flashback was from 7 years ago Sara would've been 18 so she still could've been senior in high school depending on when that flashback happened. She was 19 when the Gambit went down. I guess that was supposed to show us Laurel's book smart but completely dumb when it came to Oliver.
  8. They never really said if Sara was an academic or not. All we know is she liked to party, that doesn't make her dumb. However I agree that showing us that Oliver's stupid doesn't help us see why Laurel's with him. Pre-island Oliver doesn't seem like much of a catch besides having money. That once again shows me that the writers really don't think that hard about how they write Laurel's storylines. She was once again an afterthought to that plot.
  9. If this show is going to become just one big depressing fest, I won't be watching anymore. I get that they like doing let's bring them to their lowest so they can pick themselves up again storyline (this one is much better than whatever Laurel's was), but that means that Oliver needs to win the war against Slade and not just a battle. Otherwise what's the point? I want to watch my hero win not get beaten down again and again. That's not fun to watch. They killed Moira, if anyone else dies I probably won't be watching next season and yes that includes Laurel now. Because then we'll just be back to square one next season and this season was depressing enough. People can just move because that town is deathtrap they don't have to die. I'm sure Oliver would be upset if Laurel and/or Sara moved away for good. But he would still have his sanity and could keep fighting another day.
  10. I also count Arrow as an alternate universe telling of Green Arrow and in this one Dinah Drake Lance never became Black Canary, her presumed dead youngest daughter Sara did. Even with that the next Canary should be younger than the original to keep the fight going longer, so I would take Sara training Sin or even Sara's future daughter taking up the role. They haven't given Sara a flower shop but they have shown she has advanced knowledge of plants and flowers since she made that drug that counteracts Ivo's truth serum out of them. So they made it possible for her to work in or own a flower shop if she wants too. Laurel only has the name to tie her to the character. You have to wonder why the writers brought in Sara as the Canary. Why bring in a new character give her all the traits of comic Black Canary, then get rid of her so they can give the canon character the same role? Sara wasn't needed to tell Laurel's story, in fact it would've been far more interesting for Laurel to find her own reasons for becoming a vigilante, not my little sister became awesome, so I'll become awesome after she dies.
  11. I know Oliver and Sara are not big on sharing what happened to them (which would also be a big indicator that it wasn't good). It doesn't seem like Laurel even asked or thought that her sister may have gone through the same hell Oliver has. She's a Lawyer it's her job to ask questions and she has none of either of them after they disappeared for over 5 years? Even if Sara and/or Oliver deflect the questions or say nothing, that at least showed me Laurel cared enough to ask. But this show really isn't big on actual character development. Their characters just do things because reasons and it's up to the audience to make up excuses for them. Storylines are a big part of shows, but IMO it's the characters that give a show staying power. Look at Firefly, that show ended in 2001 and it's still talked about and still loved. It's not because it had amazing storylines or great action scenes, it was because of the characters.
  12. They spent a lot of time on the Lance family drama so when they have a chance to actually have the sisters have a conversation that would make sense, they have Laurel go see and hug her ex boyfriend that her sister is currently dating. They had the dumbest set up for her to find about her sister's scars, then they go nowhere with it. If I saw my sister with a bunch of scars like that I would've ran and hugged her, then kept asking what happened to her and if she was okay. I actually want to know where Laurel though Sara's been all these years, if it was so shocking to see her injuries. She obviously didn't forget that Sara was in the same shipwreck as Oliver. Does she think Sara drifted to a Caribbean resort and was sipping drinks on the beach for six years? I'm also wondering what Laurel thinks about Oliver telling Sara about his secret identity and then not only that Sara joined him in his crime fighting. Andrea from the Walking Dead, she was exactly like Laurel. The producers kept saying she was awesome but what was shown on screen was not awesome, they said she was going to get better, then she got worse. They thought people would like her storyline but no on really did, then the killed her off I guess because they couldn't think of anything else do with her.
  13. I'm glad Myka's cancer storyline was dropped as well. That would've been too much of a downer for the final season. This show was always more about the fun with the danger and not being too depressing. Count me as another that loved Mkya yelling at the guys for not reading and memorizing the handbook. (I bet HG read the handbook ;D). Lisa DaVinci was great and I loved that Warehouse 9 had a giant bird that turned off the artifacts. How much easier would it be to have the bird go in get them instead of them doing it by hand.
  14. The babies that The Mountain murdered were Dany's niece and nephew.
  15. I loved how angry and protective Norman got over Emma. I don't want them to hook up but I missed their friendship from the first season. Freddie Highmore is truely creepy in this role. It's no wonder Cody actually got scared and decided to tell someone about his murdery looking blackouts. I wonder what she'll think now that he killed her dad. Of course that was kind of self defence, that guy attacked Cody and him. New drug boss lady is probably more than she seems, to be able to run all those guys she's got be scarier than all of them. I kind of like that she runs it more like the wizard behind the curtain. Nick Ford is the head of the other drug cartel right? And which one does Cupcake boy work, Dylan's? That town really loves their weed. Is that the only drug they export? I wonder if George is going to be the boyfriend Norman kills with his mother.
  16. The Game of Thrones wiki says The Reach is Sub-Tropic, while Dorne is desert. Wheat can be grown in tropical weather.
  17. Dorne's a desert region by the way they are dressed and their bastards are named Sand. I think The Reach where the Tyrells are from is more tropical.
  18. ^ yeah, I think GRRM ran out of ideas for sigils, or those familes were too late and lost out on getting the cool ones.
  19. I don't get where you keep saying they never show Oliver and Sara touching or kissing. That's pretty much all they do when it's just them. Obviously we all know what happened in ep 13, ep 14 was for the Laurel and Felicity drama, ep 15 was mostly island and the Slade being in Oliver's house threat. In ep 16 they we see them in bed together showing us they are sleeping in the Arrow cave, when Sara followed him to the Bravta, they hugged and he kissed her, after he saw Slade's stalker vids of Shado Oliver went to Sara where the scene ended with them in an embrace, then the last scene of them Oliver held her hand and thanked her for being there for him then they kissed. In ep 17 people were upset that Oliver was kissing Sara instead of going after Thea. In ep 18 we never saw them alone together and I don't blame them for not being touchy feely they were all thinking about saving Thea. They are not eating each other's faces off or anything, but I don't see Roy/Thea doing that every episode either, I don't think they've done that since Roy was first injected and the glass fell on him. I don't see them touching all that much, they mostly just talk or argue with each other or Roy goes off with Sin. So they are showing their relationship like they show all their relationships. The main issue is they are not good at writing romance. For me writing the will they/won't they is lazy writing because they are just depending on the actor chemistry and most writers end up ruining that by making up contrived reason why they can't be together and keep doing that until most fans don't care about the couple that much anymore. Then they finally put them together because they are losing viewers. Plus I can see Oliver and Sara clinging to each other because they know each other and know that they both went through something traumatic that changed them completely. If Sara were to date someone new (man or woman) and she wanted to sleep with them she'd have to explain her scars. Bullet wounds and a bunch of long jagged scars are not something normal people have. Then she'd either have to tell them or hide the fact that she's a former assassin and now fights crime in costume at night. With Oliver she doesn't have worry about any of that.
  20. I completly forgot that Brieanne and Margaery would know each other from being with Renley. Because at first I was wondering why she was pleading her case to Margaery. Then I was like, that's right Margaery was Renley's Queen.
  21. GoT is definitely the show that gives you all the chickens. I'm going to watch it again tonght and I haven't done that for a show in a long time. I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I loved Jon Snow being all assertive, he's not a baby crow anymore. Didn't she kill one of those guys that was talking about Robb last season? That's when the Hound asked her to tell him if she planned on killing people. So that would be the second time she killed in cold blood. Arya's becoming hardened and it looks like she's going down a dark path. Having the Hound as her first teacher will probably help with that.
  22. I love this show! It did not disappoint. I loved Lady Olenna admiring Brieanne. She looked so shocked to hear something nice said about herself. Margery talking smack about Joffery, while awesome was not wise. I'm glad her grandmother warned her. The game is always being played you can't let your guard down even for a minute. Brieanne/Jamie need to have more scenes, those two are great together. Despite still wanting to bang his sister, Jamie has changed. He's more honest and real. Tywin needs to die for treating his kids the way he does. Of course he's probably upset that what he thinks his only true heir is now a cripple. Cercsi is going to be sorry if she loses her only ally. Joffery's still a dick, not much to say about that except Jack Gleeson is great in this role. Tyrion knows his family is screwed with the Prince of Dorne wanting revenge. Looks like Dany's dragons are in their moody teenage years. Sucks for any parent, more so if your kids can shoot fire, have talons and can fly. Don't know how I feel about new Daario, he doesn't look like Fabio anymore so sort of plus. But now he looks like most of the males in Westeros. Prince Oberyn was great. I can't wait to see more of him. I loved Arya getting her revenge on, repeating verbatim what Polliver said to Lemmy. I love seeing the Hound and Arya's unlikely partnership. They showed the scene when he told her to tell him is she was planning on killing people, so in this episode she told him. Then he took care them. I know he wants the money so he needs to keep her alive, but I think the Hound is starting to respect her a little.
  23. I don't see anything wrong with Oliver and Sara either, I don't need to see them staring lovingly in each other's eyes or touching each other all the time or spending every waking moment together. I don't do that with my boyfriend. So I have no problems with the way they are showing Oliver and Sara's relationship, especially on tv show I don't want the romance drama to take over the show, with them it's not. What they have shown me is Sara has a life outside Oliver. Felicity on the other hand, her whole life is Oliver she has nothing else going for her. Of course Oliver likes that what guy wouldn't. When she visited Barry, Oliver got all upset because she's supposed to be there at all times by his side. We can call that jealousy if we want but I find that kind of controlling. He won't date her but she can't hang out with anyone else either. While he can date whoever he wants. How is that a good relationship builder? These writers just don't know how to write for a larger cast, they don't know how to split the storylines somewhat equally. Game of Thrones has 20 regular cast members and in the premiere last night they managed to show every character's story while also introducing new characters. So it can be done, they just need the writers that can do that.
  24. We saw Sara and Oliver sleeping on the cot on the Arrow cave together in ep 16. That is where they both are staying. Another alternative is, after finding out Thea took some time to herself to think about what she just learned and didn't want to face anyone quite yet. Sara was right Slade was playing with Oliver. Felicity doesn't know slade, sara does. So Felicity just telling to go alone was a really stupid plan. What was he going to do if Slade was there? He would've gotten his ass beat. What they all needed to do was make a plan not just walk in there with nothing. Between the three of them they could've come with something. But Oliver rarely ever asks or listens to his team's opinion. Unless its backing what he wants to do.l So like Roy said they are not so much a team as a follow Oliver blindly, even when they know the plan is stupid.
  25. What happened on the island is in the past. Sara survived on a boat with dangerous men for a year, so it's not surprising she started to think like them. Present day Sara has made the smarter decisions (not always the nicest ones) but the smarter ones. She's changed from who she was on the island. Yes, her first instinct is to kill, but she doesn't go about it half assed, she makes a plan, she prepares, so she is ready. Her plan with the snake venom was smart. What was Oliver going to do just go there and hope for the best? Just like when Felicity told him to go be his usual stupid self and take down Slade alone. I thought she was supposed to be the smart one? Sara told Oliver, Slade was playing with him, she was right. While I still think Roy's an idiot, he was right about one thing. Oliver has a former special forces solider and a former assassin on his team, he needs to use them and let them help him plan his attacks because that was how both Diggle and Sara were taught to handle situations.
