How on earth was Kim NOT in the bottom 2? Does she really have that much of a fan base? Sucks that Chaka went first, although I can't say it was a surprise. She was not good.

S21: Alek Skarlatos: American Hero
Sister Havana replied to radishcake's topic in Dancing With The Stars
He was a pleasant surprise tonight! And I just loved how he introduced himself and added "and you probably have no idea who I am." -
Tonight's premiere wasn't as strong as the last few have been. Glad to see Anna and Karina back. I just wish Anna had gotten a better partner. Gary was a hot mess. I predict he'll stay for at least a few weeks just for that reason. I'm guessing Paula and Kim are the bottom two. Chaka's dancing wasn't good but she has stage presence for days. Carlos, Alexa, and Nick were good. Tamar was all right. I was pleasantly surprised by Bindi and Alek. Totally agreed on both points! Save those for the freestyle!

Scott Disick? Oh, for the love of G_d, NOOOOOOOO!

I'll be surprised if we DON'T see Kaitlyn on the show this season. They seem to have the most recent Bachelor/Bachelorette on more often than not lately. But RICKY SCHROEDER! Oh please let that one be true!

RW in the Media: Somehow the Show is Almost Relevant
Sister Havana replied to scrb's topic in The Real World
I didn't realize that Tami Roman was on Celebrity Wife Swap this season - she swapped with Kerri Walsh-Jennings. The episode is up on YouTube. -
I'm betting there will be someone from the USA women's national soccer team on this season. I'm thinking either Abby Wambach or Christie Rampone.

Not at all. I thought the same thing. What a hot mess. I feel so bad for the employees - they seemed like good people. (Glad Diana got out!) And if Erik was this much of a jerk to his employees on camera, I shudder to think how much worse it must be off camera. Marcus really did dodge a bullet, though. I am curious to know where all the money is going. Am I the only one who thinks that some of it may have been invested with Ponzi scheme shareholder?

Judge Judy vs Judge Everybody Else: Compare & Contrast
Sister Havana replied to a topic in Judge Judy
Judge Faith does hear real cases, a la Judge Judy. (In fact, she names Judge Judy as her idol in this article, which also gives a bit more information about the show) I've really gotten into her show - she hears some interesting cases and doesn't put up with a lot of crap. -
Me too! Jonathan would never do it (he talked about specifically avoiding the dance tasks on TAR), but I think Jordan would be fun. I can also see the producers casting Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy for the husband/wife stunt casting. Another vote for keeping the troupe to bumpers/pro dances only (as they were originally) and not appearing in competition dances except for freestyles. Keep the elaborate props for freestyles only. Having a bunch of other dancers really takes attention away from the star.

I'm glad Laura and Tyler won, although I would have been okay with Mike and Rochelle winning too. Laura and Tyler were the only team in the final 3 I actually liked. I was kind of meh on Jenny and Jelani, and Hayley was totally annoying. And I really, really want to see Jonathan and Harley come back if they do another All-Stars/Unfinished Business season.

I actually cheered when Leeza won. She really deserved it. She kept it positive, worked hard, and stayed out of the drama. When she was project manager, she really paid attention to her team members' strengths and gave them roles where they could really shine, as opposed to making every task all about herself.

Brain Bleed: The Shows We Hate & The Reasons We Hate Them
Sister Havana replied to SPLAIN's topic in Everything Else TV
Glee: I love musicals. I was in choir in high school. Should be a slam dunk for me, right? Wrong. I just found it annoying. Sex and the City: I love Candace Bushnell's book that this was based on. I tried watching the show but couldn't get into it at all. I am guessing part of it is because I pictured Carrie so differently when I read the book - pretty much the exact opposite of Sarah Jessica Parker. Not to mention that of the other main characters, only Samantha's character was true to the book. I couldn't get past that. I might have liked the show much better had I not read the book first! -
Namecheck!: Songs That Mention TV & Movie Stars in Their Lyrics
Sister Havana replied to Kromm's topic in Everything Else TV
Destiny's Child name-checks Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore, and Cameron Diaz in "Independent Women Part 1." The Ataris' song "My So-Called Life" is about Claire Danes. -
Wish Upon a Star: Who Would You Like To See On DWTS?
Sister Havana replied to RescueMom's topic in Dancing With The Stars
Taylor Hicks would be lots of fun! If they want the American Idol couple gimmick, they could choose Ace Young & Diana DeGarmo, who are now married. -
Sarah was a couple years ahead of me at the IU J-school and we both worked at the Indiana Daily Student at the same time, but I don't remember crossing paths with her back then. I'm sure we sat in a couple of the same staff meetings, though!
-
I liked Sarah - I thought it was so cool that someone from my alma mater was on the show. She was a couple years ahead of me at IU. We were both journalism majors and we apparently worked at the Indiana Daily Student at the same time, but I don't remember our paths ever crossing while we were there.

I'm so in agreement on Twin Peaks, Sports Night, and Don't Trust The B---- in Apartment 23. Some others: Yearbook - This falls into the "ahead of its time" category. This was a reality show (before it was its own genre!) that followed several students at Glenbard West High School in the suburbs of Chicago during the 1990-91 school year. (One of the girls featured on that show lived on my dorm floor at college the next year.) Models Inc. Freshman Dorm Hellcats GCB Becoming - MTV show that had fans "become" their favorite artists/groups and recreate a music video.

They do look great. Julie's daughter looks just like her. They did a separate segment with Eric after the one with Norm, Heather, and Julie. I'm glad he no longer has the long hair and long beard. He's now living in Hawaii, is married, and has a newborn son.

I'm so happy Amy and Maya won. I was really rooting for them, though I would have been fine with the surfers winning. Both those teams really worked well together, had positive attitudes, and didn't cause all sorts of unneeded drama. The Dentists I could take or leave, and I was SO glad the wrestlers got eliminated, especially after Brooke's comments to Amy and Maya in the airport.

If I remember correctly, when Marcus bought Crumbs, he said he was going to feature products from Sweet Pete's and Key West Key Lime Pies there too.
-
They used to be. I remember Norman on Season One getting angry at the other roommates because they forgot to record Star Trek for him one evening. IIRC, they no longer had TVs in the houses after London, because Jay and Mike sat around watching TV most of the day and that's not very exciting to film.

I totally agree. I thought Natalie and Nadiya were super annoying on TAR. I wasn't looking forward to seeing them on Survivor. But Natalie played a great game, both physically and strategically, and she really grew on me. She really deserved the win and I'm glad the jury saw it that way too. Missy looked fantastic tonight. I thought Reed's FTC speech had shades of Susan Hawk's Snakes vs. Rats FTC speech in season 1. (Susan did it better!)

Wish Upon a Star: Who Would You Like To See On DWTS?
Sister Havana replied to RescueMom's topic in Dancing With The Stars
I'd like to see a baseball player on the show too. I could get behind Nomar Garciaparra, but my pick would be Kerry Wood. I hope Sean Avery didn't turn the show off from getting another hockey player. Jeremy Roenick would be good. Or what about Wayne Gretzky? They could cast him and his wife Janet Jones, though she'd be a ringer.
