  1. Oh my, where to start... My math teachers through junior high and high schools. I was in an experimental class that didn't break out math into segments (algebra one year, trig one year, etc.), but just went through all 3 years at each school with the same class and the same teachers and all the maths mixed up. It was wonderful, even if I need a calculator to add anything up now. My English teacher in high school. My journalism teacher in junior high school. But the teacher who had the most impact on my life was Mr. Anzalone, the drama teacher in high school. He totally turned my life around and instead of becoming a teacher myself, I became... a bank teller, then a finance person for athletes because I needed a day job to make rent (I'm still paying bills for the athletes - that's kinda fun). The day jobs allowed me to keep my "real" job - the stage doorman at the National Theatre for 35 years where I've made the most wonderful friends and met my wonderful husband. I still see Mr. Anzalone sometimes. I'm forever grateful to him. And then there was the most important teacher of all - my mother, who was a substitute teacher all through my elementary school years. She was good at her job and didn't let the kids slack off just because she was a sub. Sometimes, they didn't like that, but I somehow made it through without anyone beating me up. Some of the kids actually came to appreciate her and I appreciated that. I miss her.
  2. I'll be here! Thanks for another fun evening everyone!!

    Damn. Really, damn.
  4. He came through our theatre at least twice and was a lovely man.
  5. I can't believe I thought he died a while ago. Time has no meaning when you're as old as I am...I guess.
  6. Ah... here's the tribute to Marin. Love Stokes!
  7. No Marin ... or Peter (unless I blinked and missed them)
  8. That would be nice, but I wouldn't bet on it. Personally, I'd also like to see Peter Entin get his lifetime Tony if only because I worked for the Shuberts for a hundred years and he was always around to give us a hard time. In the best possible way.
  9. Audra - fabulous! And, as John Oliver called her - Laura Fucking Linney!! She was great in the Wax Presidents film.
  10. Love Cliff Gorman! Saw him in Chapter Two on New Year's Eve...whatever year that was. He was quite delightful at the stage door after the show. (Don't tell anyone I actually went to the stage door after some shows when I was young...) It was my one NYE in Times Square experience. One and done...
  11. Okay, this Beetlejuice number will sell tickets. Ain't Too Proud and Tootsie - not so much. Which is kinda a shame. Kinda.
  12. Okay, I love Andre DeShields anyway, but his shout-out to Baltimore - my home town! - just made me love him more.
  13. Oh wait - I guess I did see something. I saw Boys in the Band. And I agree, Robin was fabulous. I also saw Beetlejuice, the second preview in DC. I hear it's improved. I'd hope so since it was nominated for stuff. Cuz it was pretty bad when I saw it. I still want to see this show. I know I shouldn't, but I do.
  14. I've seen nothing this year. We're going up in August and I was trying to decide whether to buy tickets this afternoon before shows win stuff tonight, but inertia claimed me. So I'm leaving it to fate... or something.
  15. So many great things in that article, not the least of which are he wants to host the Tonys and the embroidered uterus on the dress he's wearing tonight. Thanks for posting @ElectricBoogaloo!
  16. Thanks. I use a couple of those at work for currency symbols, but that doesn't seem to work on my home computer. I'll see if it works at work on Monday. If I remember, which is always dicey.
  17. Happy National Rose Day everyone!! (that's the wine, not the flower - I don't know how to find the useful accent to put over the e)
  18. Maida Heatter died yesterday. I highly recommend any of her cookbooks. I have 4 or 5 of them and really...dessert is a wonderful thing!
  19. 5 because I don't eat shellfish or pork.
  20. Maida Heatter has died at 102. (I had no idea she was still with us...). I have 4 or 5 of her dessert cookbooks and she helped me become popular with people! It's amazing how a tasty cookie or cheesecake or candy can help one make friends 🙂 RIP - and thanks!! https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/obituaries/maida-heatter-prolific-cookbook-author-who-was-dubbed-the-queen-of-cake-dies-at-102/2019/06/07/706c7320-88da-11e9-a870-b9c411dc4312_story.html?utm_term=.919326a0ab3e
  21. Barry Svrluga, a sportswriter for the WaPo, wrote a lovely piece in the magazine this past weekend about his grandfather who was on the ground for D-Day. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/magazine/wp/2019/05/30/feature/my-grandfathers-secret-d-day-journal/?utm_term=.30b56c8adb07
  22. Tri Fist, The Eviscerator of Hope. Strong. And kinda weird.
